I have never had to activate it manually so other than the steps I am not sure. What version of the app do you have? (GB or ICS) I attached the ICS version that you will flash through recovery, after wiping cache. If it is GB you are on now, let me know and I will attach a zip that I have used for quite some time that has 8/28 gapps and vvm wrapped up together.
Edit: Just to ask, did you ever activate google voice? If not, then if none of the vvm apps work, you may need to call sprint tech support and get them to look at it from their end.

Not to hijack, but noob question.
Why does it matter of Google voice has been activated? I noticed when I went from ICS w/voice back to Sense w/VVM my VVM wasn't working and had to reinstall Google voice to get my messages.

you have to deactivate google voice by dialing a code on your phone

Tried the your attached vvm zip and sadly it didnt work. Im going to try to update my radios and see if that'll fix it

well crap...try that, then it might be a pain in the ass but maybe ruu stock if that doesn't work, update everything which should give you your voicemail back and then go back...just backup your rom of course. If that wouldn't work, call to sprint tech support is in order.

ATT Voice and Data together Problem

Since I installed a custom ROM, I have not been able to use data and voice at the same time when on 3G. I made sure that my settings was set for ATT and have not changed from the stock radio.
any ideas?

You need one of the dialers that will allow this, either the ATT dialer ( have not seen a cab for it) or the 2g leo dialer.

huh, that's interesting. can anyone clarify why the rom needs a seperate dialer to accomplish this? I don't understand the mechanism or restriction. either way, i'll search for att dialer but in the meantime, anyone care to post?

The reason being that the other networks do not allow voice and data at the same time so the dialers are set to cancel the data connection when a call comes in so you dont miss calls

i see...that simple huh....so if i install the dialer you mentioned, will it'll work in 3g right? because i thought you couldn't do both in edge. and is the dialer just working in the background or will it change anything noticable? thanks for your help!

Yes you need 3g to do both. The reason it is called a 2g dialer is due to no video calling in the dialer. it will change the look of the dialer due to being a different one. no prob
I'm also in ATT network, using NRG Phoenix Rom (Jan 15, Standard, v.21889) and using 4.49.25.88 radio. Did a quick test yesterday by starting a download from mediafire and then calling my own number from another line, and had no problem finishing the download. I couldn't notice if downloading was interrupted during the phone call, but I don't think Mediafire supports pausing a download.
So maybe the issue is something different than the dialer.

The easiest way to test this is to make a call to say your voice mail and then try to connect to the internet or receive email

can you please try and post what happens when you dial someone, connect the call, then try and initiate a data connection such as opera? I think initiating is a problem. I've also had opera open, received a call, then been unable to use data. So in that case, the phone was already connected to data then added voice, and then lost data...so maybe still the dialer?
I'm going to likely flash to a new version of energy this weekend so maybe that'll take well and get rid of the issue. In the meantime, i'll try the dialer and post back if that helped.

does this dialer function the same, that is, does it still allow >2 party conference call feature? that's probably the most important feature of this for me as a business phone....i've got a 4 way conference call this evening and don't want to install the dialer today if I risk losing that function.

Hey, BTW, i searched for your ROM here but didn't find a page for it with screenshots and such...where is it?

Is the Pri Update still causeing roaming issues?

i just updated my Pri. but i have yet to run into this and a may be doing a bit of driving soon should i be worried?
If it happens, just call Sprint from a landline, and they'll do some reconfiguring on their end, and have you do a factory data wipe. Just make sure to back everything up first!
I just updated mine last night and now im unable to data or voice roam on the cm6 forced roam setting. I think I'm going to revert back to the old one as soon as I have time to figure out how to do it.

Yes, just call Sprint (both of you). Tell them that your PRI just upgraded from 1.34 to 1.40, and now whenever you roam, your data doesn't go through, and when you make calls, you just get a message from Verizon saying they can't authorize your phone. The guy didn't ask me anything else.
Settings/system updates/profile update, then a reboot fixed it for me.
Thanks, I'll flash back to fresh and try that.
Edit: I also called sprint and it fixed my issue. I had to setup google voice as my voicemail again though.
So after I called sprint I can go on internet while roaming but I can't make or receive phone calls. I updated profiles and that didn't do anything. I will try and give sprint a call again
*UPDATE* I called Sprint again and they fixed the issue for me

Search XDA for new voicemail .apk you should see it in general section .apk is on second page. I would also reccommend checking the bonsai page add ons. Please search for yourself from now on it only took me 2 mins to find it I read the whole wiki .apk list before I searched.
Google is your home boy for this kinda stuff.
tried reinstalling it and still didnt work, hopefully its just the voicemail server is down or something and will work by tomorrow.

My voicemail is good just downloaded one in fact so I dont think its the servers. (viperrom 4.0.3 EXT4 DK28) Have you tried doing hands free activation again?
(check the wiki for how to) Maybe stop the voicemail service before you uninstall and reinstall. Other than that app2sd and re-flash the rom.

Thought this was just me, but I found a fix that seemed to get it back up and running:
1. Ok, open your voicemail program, it will likely show the "No voicemails" screen.
2. Hit Menu>compose then click in the "To" field at the top to bring up your keyboard.
3. Type this exactly: [email protected]
4. Hit record, then hit stop.
5. Hit send.
Cant take credit for this, I found it on an Evo forum. Took a minute or so for the vm's to show up but they did.
By the way, I am running Nebula 1.07 and was having the same problem...

Yeah i had the same thing happen after i flashed Bonsai and I went crazy blaming the ROM. Ended up just working after a bit on it's own. I never looked into it but i bet it was just issues on sprints network with the VM server. Keep getting E30 and E503 errors. Then they just went away on their own.

Any way to get "Sprint" Visual Voicemail on the Gnex???

I have been trying to get a APK that will actually work on the Nexus.
And I have already tried Google Voice and it sucks. I simply want VVM back.
It was simple and all I needed.
Is there an APK that will work on a stock Gnex from Sprint?
Do I have to Root?
I am a total noobie with this phone. Last phone I rooted was a Moment before my EVO 4G.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
I thought this was the Q&A section??? You should rename it the Q....lol

I remember getting those notification texts from 9016 on my E4GT. Has that been fixed?
Vvm. Apk does not function. I've installed it 3 times. I get 2 texts from Sprint saying to call some number, but nothing happens.
I am going to attempt to root my phone today..... But I suck at this stuff.... LOL
I simply want the plain old sprint vvm....
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
There was a workaround for the 9016 issue, I think you can blacklist or block that number. I can't remember the exact procedure, but the Heroc guys had it working over a year ago. I switched to Google voice for voicemail and love it, but I know the vvm.apk can work on aosp roms

ALMOST There??
The site you linked to has a working zip for sprint VVM, (although it was a slightly older version, and I got a "404 not found" error, I managed to find it) I got it to flash on cwm touch to BB8 for Gnex... I flashed it, wiped cache and dalvik and ran a fix perm on it... It PROVISIONED! Yay, right?? Nope, while I am recieving 9016 messages now, and even alerts through the app reminding me that my Voice-Text Trial is about over, I still cant get the voicemails to receive and notify through the app...
I sent a vm to the:
activate @ vvm. sprint .com
using the app and that went through just fine...
So does anyone know how to integrate this the right way so that it will really work?
I am not receiving any error messages at all... All others I have tried give some sort of error. This one has not, so I am sure there is something small I am missing...Any takers?
Going to try a Handsfree Activation using the Sprint Diagnostic App I flashed yesterday... Will report back...
I want VVM! LOL

[Q] GS3 TMO: CM10 JB ROM + wifi calling?

Hey guys, i have a few questions
i have a tmobile gs3 and am passionately waiting for the JB OTA update. Untill then however, i would love to use CM10 JB ROM. THe only problem is that it doesnt have the tmobile wifi "built-in" app for that. So does anyone know a way for that to happen? (PM me if you know a way).
Also, currently im am using ICS and it seems like i need at least one bar of cellular coverage for wifi to work. If i am not registering a cellular network, my wifi will not work. I noticed this pretty recently and was wondering if it is like that normally. Are there apps or fixes that can allow you to use wifi if you are not registering cellular network at all (kinda like an airplane mode)?
Thanks alot
I will donate to developers if they can help me out
Don't want to be one of those people, but there are a lot of threads on it. But, pretty much, unless it has changed recently, there isn't a wifi-calling for any CM stuff yet and not sure if there will be. Some people were working on a project. There are other roms out there that do have working wifi calling though, might want to take a look at those.
Also, you don't need cell signal for the wifi calling to work.

i have had cm10 jb on my gs3 and then i decided that i needed tmobile wifi calling. so once i downloaded stock ics from samsung and installed it, my wifi calling only works when i am registering the cellular network. If i dont have any bars (and wifi is connected) it won't call at all. wjat could be the fix for this?

Well if u flashed the stock ROM with Odin like u said let it boot up then go into stock recovery or if u have a custom recovery wipe data and caches. To get in it is the same way either way. Vol up, home, and power at same time
I just moved to CM10 a few minutes ago and personally, I don't know how I would ever go back to anything less than this. Why worry about WiFi calling when there are plenty of VoIP alternatives that use Google Voice?

can i somehow set it up so that when my tmobile number is unavailable, it redirects it to google voice? But only when my number is unavailable (as in i wouldn't want to set the redirect every time i am planning to go off service). The thing is that i go to school and i see patients all day long, and in some places i have reception and in some i dont. its very irregular and unpredictable. so if i could set it up in the way that "if unavailable, redirect to google voice" type of thing, i would be a happy camper.
Oh and also, even my google voice does not work if i am not registering a cellular network just a bit. (help with this too?)
thanks guys

im not sure what i did, but i know that i did not specifically erase any data. it just seems that wifi calling is an integral part of the firmware that any "random" data on the phone should no phase it. hmm...
Can someone confirm that CM10 JB has a option in the Phone App menu to forward a call when unreachable? I donw want to go thru the hassle of installing it if it doesnt have that option.

There should be a setting for phone forwarding just like any other OS/phone. Just change it to your GV number and should be GTG.
