I have been trying to get a APK that will actually work on the Nexus.
And I have already tried Google Voice and it sucks. I simply want VVM back.
It was simple and all I needed.
Is there an APK that will work on a stock Gnex from Sprint?
Do I have to Root?
I am a total noobie with this phone. Last phone I rooted was a Moment before my EVO 4G.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
I thought this was the Q&A section??? You should rename it the Q....lol

Do a search for vvm.apk. I think I ran it on my hero when I was in cm6. Once you find the apk just install jt

He's done that already. He (and I) would like to find a modded apk that will work w/ICS or Jelly Bean.

Did you find the vvm.apk? Just install it and it should be fine. What's the issue?

Is this one from CM9 the one that works on the Nexus? http://epicaokp.blogspot.com/2012/05/aokpcm9-fixed-sprint-visual-voicemail.html
I remember getting those notification texts from 9016 on my E4GT. Has that been fixed?
Vvm. Apk does not function. I've installed it 3 times. I get 2 texts from Sprint saying to call some number, but nothing happens.
I am going to attempt to root my phone today..... But I suck at this stuff.... LOL
I simply want the plain old sprint vvm....
Any help would be greatly appreciated....
There was a workaround for the 9016 issue, I think you can blacklist or block that number. I can't remember the exact procedure, but the Heroc guys had it working over a year ago. I switched to Google voice for voicemail and love it, but I know the vvm.apk can work on aosp roms

ALMOST There??
The site you linked to has a working zip for sprint VVM, (although it was a slightly older version, and I got a "404 not found" error, I managed to find it) I got it to flash on cwm touch to BB8 for Gnex... I flashed it, wiped cache and dalvik and ran a fix perm on it... It PROVISIONED! Yay, right?? Nope, while I am recieving 9016 messages now, and even alerts through the app reminding me that my Voice-Text Trial is about over, I still cant get the voicemails to receive and notify through the app...
I sent a vm to the:
activate @ vvm. sprint .com
using the app and that went through just fine...
So does anyone know how to integrate this the right way so that it will really work?
I am not receiving any error messages at all... All others I have tried give some sort of error. This one has not, so I am sure there is something small I am missing...Any takers?
Going to try a Handsfree Activation using the Sprint Diagnostic App I flashed yesterday... Will report back...
I want VVM! LOL

I'm rooted and have been for a while. I just switched to Team-Nocturnals_Shoooter_RLS3.1.1 rom. I have a problem where sometimes I can't recieve messages on the stock messaging app, I notice this because I have Gingerbread Ghostly constlantly running and that app recieves the message but not the stock messging app. I also don't recieve calls every once in a while.
The first time I ever noticed this was about a month ago when I was running a Going-Green rom but it only happened when i switched to that Rom, never happened before then. So I upgraded my radio to 2.15.00.08.08 because that Rom ran so smoothly on my phone and wanted to keep it. The problem kept happening so i switched to another Rom and it happened on that one as well.
I've switched between different roms probably 5 to 8 times and I still don't recieve messages or calls sometimes and I don't know how to fix it. A while back, user on here was nice and tried helping me out by telling me it could have to do with Google voice, so i completely deactivated Google voice and its still happening.
I would really appreciate any input and info you may have on this and please help if you can. Also can I downgrade my radio? Would that help? Thanks.
What radio version do you have? The newer radios will not allow you to downgrade. But then again, you wouldn't want to downgrade your radio anyway.
When I had this issue it was because Google Voice completely F'ed my phone. My messaging wouldn't work no matter what ROM I flashed. I ended up fixing the phone by accident as I was unrooting it to take it into the store. Here is a link on what I did with mine.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18399552&postcount=2
Follow that process and fully unroot your phone back to bone stock. Once you've got it back to bone stock try sending yourself a message and see if it works. If it does then feel free to unroot once again and reflash whatever ROM you wish. If it still doesnt work then, while unrooted, make sure your phone has accepted all of the OTA updates from Sprint and then update your profile. If it STILL doesnt work then give Sprint tech support a call and ask them what the ## code is to reset your phone's network signal. I wrote it down somewhere from when I tried it on mine but I cannot find that damn piece of paper. If NONE of that works for you then you may have to take it into Sprint. Good news though, it's already fully unrooted so you don't have to worry about the risk of the techs denying you.
Let me know if any of this helps.
I just switched to decks gingerbread rom which is the first time I've gone without sense and I've had no problems so far. Could it have to do with sense?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Doubtful it is sense. What rom were you using before?
I doubt it was Sense because I was having the same problem with an AOSP ROM.
I was using a lot of different sense 3.0/3.5 roms like gruesomewolfs Rom, hybrid beta 8.5, sinister Rom, I've tried almost all.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I'm trying synergy non-godmode for the first time now and will see if I have problems with it. It doesn't make any sense to me at all why I keep having these problems.
Im trying to avoid un-rooting then re-rooting but will do it if that fixes it.

Call sprint from a secondary phone, tell them that you are getting very delayed text messages and not receiving calls at random. have them update your profile. If that doesnt work have them reprogram your phone. had to reprogram mine when i was receiving text messages 5 hours after they were sent

What do you mean by them reprogramming my phone? Do i need to return to stock and unroot for them to do that or can I use a stock rooted rom?

It's always best to flash each of those separately. Flash the radio and then reboot the phone. Then flash the wimax and reboot the phone. And so on and so on. I flashed one of those all in one packages and I had problems with getting everything set properly. So I did them one by one and they worked flawlessly. I then read, afterwards, that its best to do them individually. I'm not exactly sure why....but that's what has worked best for me and apparently for the majority of other people. So I recommend going back and flashing each of those individually to make sure they all installed correctly.

Install the removed vvm app and it will provision on boost and work!!
apk for e4gt
Works of evo and evo 3d also.

how about the texts from 9016? any way of getting rid of those? also how about the native voicemail alert (the alert that forces to dial to check for VMs), i still get those as well...?

I installed the OP's file on my Boost E4GT, installed without issue. Received the provisioned text, but the vvm doesn't seem to be working for me either. Thoughts?
Boost said the evo design is the only phone thats gonna have visual voice mail right now... Im gonna buy a evo design and use it as my donor and see what happens.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I doubt it's dependent on the donor phone. My guess would be the actual phone.apk. The way Boost handles voicemail notifications I'd different from sprint. I'm guessing if a patched phone.apk was used in conjunction to this, it would work. I'm on ICS now or i would try one of the patched phone files floating around here.

I have a patched phone apk on a thread I started, gotannp3 patched it and I have been working on patching others, the patch currently works only on el29 base roms, I was on blue cuben ics, but flashed back to do some more testing.. So does some one have the boost vtt from the design I will take a look at it, I currently get native voicemail so I want to see if the patch works in combination with the vtt, might have to edit some smali code a little.. Is that the correct apk in the OP, can someone confirm....

Final piece
A working VVM is the final piece of the puzzle I need to make my Boosted E4GT Phone the perfect flash.
The Goodies, this make me smile
4G Checked
3G Checked
MMS Checked
SMS Checked
Native Voicemail Checked
VVM unchecked
I didn't do any of this, so at this moment I'll like to thank all the great Dev's here on XDA for their hard work and guidance because of you people like me have their phones flashed to Boost Mobile. I know and believe some one out there will get the finally piece working. Thanks in advances
Anyone have any luck?
I have a sprint e4gt that i have flashed to boost and installed the stock boost rom from the gal s2 bit im still not receiving any voicemail notifications or visual voicemail.
I was under the impression that voicemail notifications were handled by phone.apk but being that im using the boost apk im not sure why its not working.
The only thing i can think is.. When playing with earlier vvm apks i installed a sprint one. Perhaps using a sprint apk will sign you up on sprints vvm and break it at the account lvl?
Not sure what to try next. Anyone have any input?

I have never had to activate it manually so other than the steps I am not sure. What version of the app do you have? (GB or ICS) I attached the ICS version that you will flash through recovery, after wiping cache. If it is GB you are on now, let me know and I will attach a zip that I have used for quite some time that has 8/28 gapps and vvm wrapped up together.
Edit: Just to ask, did you ever activate google voice? If not, then if none of the vvm apps work, you may need to call sprint tech support and get them to look at it from their end.

Not to hijack, but noob question.
Why does it matter of Google voice has been activated? I noticed when I went from ICS w/voice back to Sense w/VVM my VVM wasn't working and had to reinstall Google voice to get my messages.

well crap...try that, then it might be a pain in the ass but maybe ruu stock if that doesn't work, update everything which should give you your voicemail back and then go back...just backup your rom of course. If that wouldn't work, call to sprint tech support is in order.
I recently upgraded to Cyanogenmod from the vanilla android of my Sprint S3. I've had no issues with it since I've gotten it running until suddenly today it refuses to send text messages. It receives them just fine but for some reason refuses to send? I found another thread on this but it just confused me more and seemed to be talking about non CDMA phone (an Italian Evo 3d) and it doesn't make sense for my issue... yet it seems to be the same.(Reference)
Synopsis:
1. I could send and receive fine for an entire week til today.
2. I can still receive texts but cannot send them.
3. Sometimes it will send a single text through? That could just be a fluke.
4. Turning it off and back on didn't help.
Thanks!
Update: The error code associated with it is Error 34. No clue what that means, Googling has shown poor results.
