[Q] CM9 Alpha 5 FF11 Kernel/Modem Battery Issues (with screenshots) - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hi all,
I figured it would be easier to make a post then send to IRC rather than pasting a bunch of pictures.
Background-
Installed Phatom's CM9Alpha with FF11 Kernel/Modem (Did a fresh install)
Fully charged phone and I'm getting battery drops shown below (including Better Battery Stats, CPU Spy and a 3rd).

ok is your post to say your battery life is good or bad. If you are stating you have terrible battery life you would honestly be like the 1,000th person to make this claim for CM9. At this point its pretty well documented in the CM9 thread as well as all over this forum. My suggestion would be to simply change roms since it does not seem like we will be seeing accommodating battery life for people until we get a hold of the kernel source.
In the Cm9 thread there are a few tricks to get a little more out of your battery, It may or may not work for you. I suggest you give that thread and a Google Search a try. Just so you know I am not trying to mess with you but seriously I see this question all over the place. I personally just tried Juice Defender but did not see any change so ya know what my choice is deal with it or move on. I choose to deal with it...
The choice is yours - Good Luck

"Good" "Bad" "Average" battery life test.

So I tested to see how long it would take my phone to go from 100% full charge to 0% death. I want to know Is this or should this be considered good battery life? In my opinion I think its good battery with moderate to heavy use, but what do you all think? And how do this battery life compare to yours?
I'm on FC07 rooted and deodex rom, throughout this whole process, I had 4g, 3g, sync on and kept brightness at 25%. Some screen shots. 8 hours

Meet my friend Bob Sacamano
Thats terrible compared to a gb rom, look at the awake time, what was running?
Sent from a phone with kNOw CIQ ...
Looks like you were without a network for a lot of that time which will cause significant battery drain as it's constantly trying to find a signal.
There's another thread started to look at battery life and possible fixes check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23501965

Thats about how bad my battery life is on ICS with wifi constantly on.

Wrong, Toro is Verizon, ToroPlus is Sprint
Use this http://goo.im/devs/TeamGummy/Roms/Toroplus
thanks. didn't notice he was looking for sprint.
Just a heads up I'm running Franco's nightly 161 with this rom and the two together is fantastic. I'm getting great battery life and the funny thing is I set my max CPU at 700 to save my battery a couple of days ago and I forgot I did and I haven't even notice it lol its running fast as hell at 700. Also the Franco app is a must have you won't be disappointed in it. It will automatically flash the latest nightly for you kinda like mobile Odin. The color and sound options are awsome it also has fast charge option as well the ability to shut down one of your cores when you want to save battery. Plus a lot more.

[Q] I'm not sure where to go now

I have been running Cyanogen 7.2 stable for a while now, and it runs smooth as butter though the battery life isn't stellar. I've been debating for some time now where to go from here, but I don't know enough to do it.
If it's possible I'd like to try out a Jellybean rom, which one is the most stable? I saw so many I couldn't even begin to fathom.. Also what are the most stable ICS roms?
What is the most recommended kernels? There is just so much to pick from...
Lastly, I'm still using CWR 2.7.x.x from what revolutionary installed, is there something that would be more recommended, or is it possible to update CWR to the 5.x.x.x? (I'm most familiar with CWR though) Is it possible to use wizard's boothijacker, and is it recommended?
I just want to make sure I get everything right, and there are so many options to pick from, I figure the best way to decide would be from the horse's mouth. I appreciate everyone who takes time to reply.
(I reposted thise from the Evo 4G LTE Q&A thread, as it was brought to my attention I was looking under the wrong subsection. My apologies.
You're gonna need to try em out and find what you like, best rom/kernel threads are frowned upon and will end up

Horrible Battery life on Canadian S3, rom or upgrade?

My wives phone is brutal on battery life, I know the usual tricks... no gps/wifi/bluetooth etc... brightness, background apps, clearing memory etc.... but it is horrible, even with a new battery.
I know we benefit from roms and tinkering... but I feel odd about doing it for her. Would the device greatly benefit from a root/custom rom? Can anyone recommend a rom thread that is based of stability and battery life? Seeing how it is old tech, as far as I am concerned... is this a fairly simple process?
thanks in advance as always

With the standard battery

Each user's experience with a custom ROM is different based on a lot of variables. Your device can definitely benefit from a custom ROM or kernel or both if done correctly. This is a case of experimentation on your part to find what best suits your needs.
These kinds of threads open up all sorts of drama and as such are not allowed on XDA. I am closing this thread but leaving you with a direction to look in. Best of luck to you.

MM battery 'Over-counted' bug

To anyone who can help,
I am using @Schischu's AOSP MM rom on a T700, and I keep getting this ''Over-counted' entry in my battery log that is steadily draining my battery even when the device is idle. It appeared a few days after my first install, so I did a full data\cache\system wipe, reinstalled, and it appeared again two days later. I can't find much about it anywhere, particularly no solutions, but @SalsaForte in the ROM's thread described it to me as:
"Over-counted is not an application, it's a miscalculation based on expectations vs reality. The algorithm seems to be confused by either wrong estimations and/or wrong battery capacity."
I'm using Greenify and I'm starting to suspect it might have something to do with this, but I really can't determine where it's coming from or what triggers it. It doesn't seem to affect many others that I can find. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I've lost 5% of battery while writing this!
Thank you

Is my issue this isolated or is this just something that is understood and not discussed? I assume it's a lack of information but nonetheless the silence worries me. I realize it's a battery algorithm estimation problem and maybe a few percent is normal but it now counts for over HALF of my battery life.
