[Q] Google Music - HTC One X

Hi,
Is there a way to install google music on my phone even though I am not in the US?

Yes it's possible.
You will have to find the apk somewhere ( Google is always your friend ) and set up an account on your computer , there are quite a number of tutorial out there.

This question already was answered here.

[Q] help syncing my google account on rooted evo w/ gingerbread

Hey everyone, sorry if I'm starting a thread in the wrong place. I've had a look around the site and can't find any relevant threads yet.
So long story short, rooted my evo 4g, worked fine. I wanted a little more out of it so i threw on the newest gingerbread build from cyanogenmod 7.
Needless to say, AWESOME.
So far everything I have played with that came with the build works although....
I cannot figure out how to sync the phone with my google market account or re-sync my contacts with my phone.
I did a full Nand backup twice right before performing the upgrades but i don't think it saved my contacts. I didn't bother saving my contacts another way because i thought i could just re-sync them with the google account but can't find any of this on this build.
Any pointers in resyncing all my contacts would be great as I would really like to have my evo sync up like before. Thanks ahead of time.
a) how did you post in the dev forum with no former posts? i thought they changed the rules...
b) you're right, wrong forum
c) you obviously knew you were in the wrong forum, because your first line apologizes for it, so i'm confused why you did it anyway...
d) maybe you didn't put google apps (gapps, which can be found here ) on your phone. that's why you haven't synced. cyanogen mod doesn't come with google apps .

a) signed up before the rule went into place.
b) %100 correct
c) see b)
d) nice of you to at least help. More than I would have done.
Did you try Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> [Your Google Account] -> Sync Contacts (check)?
Also to sync your Market account would be under Settings -> Privacy, but it's suggested you leave it off because it causes high CPU usage/wakelocks, unless that's been fixed.

fix for Google universal search and Google Now

Yes, I have researched this. I can get the unversalsearch apk and get it to work on my Note but then it disables or over rides the Google Now search and cards which I like.
Is there anyway to get google now to do a universal search? or have the option of both? Another reason for apple to suck it....as I type from my Macbook
I am mainly interested in the search feature working like it used to where it searches emails, texts, music, etc
Thanks for any help.

I dont think google now currently works quite like the old way the goolge search did. Although I agree, I'd like to have both if possible.

If you want google search to search what emails, texts, music etc.. do the following:
1. Press on the search bar (this will take you to the google now/search screen)
2. Press the menu button
3. Settings
4. Phone Search
from there choose what you want the phone to search for.
It will be nice when you can have it use multiple accounts. I don't like having to duplicate events and forward emails just so gn will find out everything I'm doing

thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the only option I have to search emails is using the stock email app. I use gmail. There is also no setting for searching texts

Hello from Android virgin.

Not sure if this is the correct section so could someone move it if needs be.
I've been a lifelong iOS user but finally got bored and ordered an Android phone. I know all about jailbreaking, but know absolutely nothing about rooting and I've been told this is where I'll find whatever info I need.
I have a few general questions and would appreciate if someone could shed some light as I need to get around the basics before I start messing with rooting etc.
I ordered a Nubia z7 Mini which looks like an amazing bit of kit for the price but since it's a Chinese phone there's a few things I'm unsure of.
Would it come with Google Play Store installed? If not, how do the Chinese get their apps?
Also, I've seen that you have to root the phone to install Google apps. What Google apps, and why do you need it?
Lastly, if you need to root the device to install these items, is there a way to unroot it afterwards and keep the newly installed apps? The reason I'm asking is because on an iPhone, certain apps won't work if it's jailbroken(like the Barclays banking app which is essential), so just wondering if it's the same with Android devices.
Thanks for any help.
1- it depends on the seller you buy from . some will install the gapps for you and some not . but don't worry it's so easy to install
the Chinese have their own app stores
2- The Google Apps (or GApps as they are commonly referred to) are the proprietary applications by Google included in many Android devices. Most of the applications can now be found and updated via the Google Play Store. Some of the apps include the Google Play Store itself, Google Talk, Google Sync (for adding and synchronizing Google accounts), Google Backup Transport, Car Home, Gmail, Google Maps, YouTube, Google Search, Google Voice Search, Google Music, and Google Docs.

3- i think you can unroot z7 mini using the supersu app , i see the unroot option .

Thank you for the explanation. I've got my phone and slowly getting the hang of it.
So why can you not install gapps on a Chinese phone without rooting it? And if I unroot it, will gapps disappear or stay behind?
Reason I'm asking is because I need to use apps which won't work on rooted devices, but I don't want to loose gapps.

[Q] Google APK for Fire Phone - non 3rd party - self download

Hello,
First let me say sorry if this is the wrong forum for the question, or if it has been asked. I have searched myself into a headache looking for the answer as well as other information before I update my phone to be able to use Google Play.
My question is this... To install Google Play on the Fire Phone you need .apk files: Account Manager, Framework, Services, Store. Well I've seen quite a few places to get these files online. But where do those sites get them? I'm assuming it can't be downloaded via browser plugin (apk downloader, etc) from the PC Google Play store itself, since it's the app that installs other apps.
I'm paranoid and would like to get those four files myself, so I know its safe - if its possible. Any idea how/where?
The answer is probably staring me in the face, but I don't see it.
My guess is that some phones can capture the files as they download from Google updates and turn them into apk form. But I'm not sure... If there is a way to get them myself I'd like to know - if not, what is the safest place to get them?
Thanks!
gG
Well getting here would be a good start. If not like you said in your post go to Google Play store and use the APK plug in or one of the Web sites that do the same.
Sent from my SD4930UR using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Found another thread the other day and someone there was able to help me.

Just wanted to say again.
If you want to get the .APK files to install the Google Play store 100% safe ask a buddy to use ES File Manager to back them up for you. Just go into system files and find them, and select backup. Or if you are like me and have an old android phone, back them up yourself - worked like a charm - no issues.
Thanks again.
