Spare OEM Battery - Galaxy S III Accessories

I've been Quoted INR 900 (USD 17) for OEM S3 battery by Samsung Service center and tomorrow I am going to buy it, as mine last only 1.5 days.Anyone thought of doing same?

R u mad?? 1.5 days is more then enough

This is ridiculous
If I have assisted you, please press Thanks button.

With my S1 and then S2 I purchased 3 spare batteries and in-wall charger off eBay for about 11usd. In roughly 2 years they never let me down. Keep 1 in the car, 2 at home and 1 in the phone obviously.
I have already bought 3 for my S3. Should be here next week.

That is so ridiculous.
When are you ever 1.5 days away from a power source?
Like fair enough if you are away for a weeks camping trip or something but otherwise lol.

Thats a pretty decent price IMO, thanks for the heads up. Might get one as a spare for a rainy day

Why charge your phone when you can just pop the back cover and slap a full battery in? I have rarely used the charger in 2 years.
From 0 to 100% in 30 seconds. That's why I love a removal battery.

I'm not the one who like to carry chargers and hunt for outlets and using phone while charging.I have habit of charging the phone whilst its switched off which dramatically improves cell life.
@sxi200:completely agree with you mate nothing beats a spare 100% battery.

Spare battery always from the accessories thread once they start posting with battery's like the Anchor etc .

Hi, what is the price of each battery and the battery charger did you pay?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium

You do make a great point. Replace a battery in 3 minutes or charge the phone for a few hours.

I have never used a spare battery,
All my phones have only needed one charge a day, my iphone 4 i would plug in for on hour or so before getting out of bed
I have modified my S3 so it just needs to be placed on the palm touchstone, so whenever i put my phone down on the bedside cabinet it charges
Samsung will be releasing thier own wireless charger in the next few months, nothing simoler than just placing your phone on the charging pad, certainly easier then messing around removing tne fiddly and delicate rear cover of the phone
Even car charhers are so cheap now, and just 20 minutes on the way to work will add quite a bit of power
Its not like a few years ago when the smartphone would need constant charging because the battery on lasted a few hours
However, if you prefer keeping spare batteries then thats your choice, and whatever works for you is all that is important.. Enjoy your S3's.

I paid $12AUD (Approx 12USD) for all 3 batteries and wall charger. Got them today. Took 7 days to arrive from China.

The only trouble with no oem batts, is they dont normally have the NFC stuff in, so no good if you use NFC

Last year I was caught short 6 times with unplanned stuff that happened and didn't have enough charge and had to swap the battery over, so I'll definitely be getting a spare and keeping in the glovebox along with my emergency charger, and if I had an IPhone or One X I would have been stuffed, and that's why I'm never gonna buy a phone without a removable battery even though some experts say that's the future of Smartphones.

Im always by a charger but sometimes (weekend night) I will need a spare so its always nice to have the option to swap batteries.
Question though.
If I get another OEM Samsung battery with NFC chip does anything on the phone need to be reset each time I swap back n forth or will it just pick up after each swap.

You could also look at it this way, if you are close to your glovebox, you are close to the cigar lighter

Well yeah if I want to sit in the car for 3 hours while it charges. What I'm talking about is doing things where I actually need my phone to be mobile and can't do that if I'm stuck by a charger, and too often I have been caught short on charge and a spare battery has saved me.

as i said before, if that works for you.
I come from the iphone background.. Had them all.. Sony experia mini.. Htc one x.. And none of them had replaceable batteries and you get used to it
I think its a case of i always left the house with a good charge, and when in the car i would put on charge for the lenght of the journey
However, i know that buying a spare battery for me would be a waste, as i rarely keep a phone for more than 3 months

Official Sammy 2000mah vs anker 1900mah

I'm getting both soon so ill post a review. Anyone have experience with both?
Initial reaction to 2000mah - WOW. destroys even my old iPhone 4. And on my iPhone I actively turned off wifi, data etc. On my sgs2 wifi is on the whole time, and I've been listening to music on my Beats (battery hog) the whole time. Right now I'm on 80% after 1.5 hrs screen on 33% brightness, and beats playing the whole time. Stock ROM btw!

watch out for them anker ones mate , there is a review on amazon of another user having one blow up in the charger as well
ive posted pictures in the other anker battery threads , you can see the explosion marks , iam so glad i was at home while it happend , that the battery wasnt in my phone at the time and nothing more serious happend
ive sent it back to amazon on the same day i got it and bought a genuine 2000mah battery from clove now lmao
others seem to of had better luck then me but thats now 2 people who have had these explode that i have read/experienced about , thats 2x too many for me to use one again and risk my face or phone or a house fire

itll probs be ok dude but i got to say and warn people otherwise if anything happend i would feel bad
i think it was more the charger , it was the cheap black one , not the white anker one , perhaps this is why it blew up??
however this is a review for the sensation version and again it blows up when in the charger
http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-rev...?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addOneStar
here you can see the cheap black charger
here you can see the proper anker white charger
I bought the same kit, two anker batteries with the black charger, no problems, been charging them fine, in fact they last a fair amount more than the original battery, my usual usage on the standard battery has me reaching for the charger around 8 hours, I am typing this out with the same kind of usage with 42% battery life left, I would say you had a faulty charger, not unusual with most things made so ****e these days from china, hardly any product testing done anymore, I have used my anker black charger lots and its worked a treat.

it exploded in the charger, not in the phone...
99% it was a faulty charger that havent been tested. I dont think it will ever blow up in your pocket
As stated before these batteries are fine it's the very cheap build chargers, if you ever open one up you would more likely dash it in the bin exposed connections. Bay the batteries and a good brand changer...

Truth
My sgs2 with the OEM 2000mah, wifi, data etc on officially destroys my iPhone 4 when I ACTIVELY turned off data, etc when I wasn't using it.
Amazing. No reason for iOS now. Only thing making me keep both was battery life.

I'm getting mine soon!

Bad battery life? Charger could be at fault.

Woke up today to my backup phone, I'm waiting for my e4gt replacement's replacement to arrive, fully charged. I've been using the phone for one hour and forty five minutes on the web and I'm down to 72% battery. This phone is almost three weeks old and should be in the nineties or high eighties with the battery by now. I was charging it with an old Samsung charger last night. This is the second Samsung charger that I'm going to throw out because it doesn't have the charging capacity like it used to. I had a friend, years ago, that used to say to unplug the charger when not in use because it will shorten its life if you don't. He claimed the electronics inside wear out after awhile. I thought it was nonsense at the time but I am wondering now if he might have been onto something legit. Just one more thing to take under consideration when trying to figure out why your battery isn't charging fully, even with its trickle top off charge.

Gee, I don't know oscar, but you would make an interesting case study about what not to do with electronics.
I have two Epics since 11/2011 original phones with the original chargers that have not been unplugged since day one, except when we travel and unplug them to take with us, and the only thing that's been done was replace the batteries last Dec.
They are rooted since day one only one soft brick, and haven't had no issues, no trips to the sprint store, they just function every day, no problems, no complaints.
Hmmm. Maybe you have a unusual electromagnetic polarity that causes your body to damage electronic devices?
Do you have problems with toasters or microwaves? Hmmm.
Do you work where Homer works, in a nuclear reactor? Hmmm.
If you pick up a light bulb does it lights up? Hmmmm.
Try a ground strap.

Maybe try wearing a necklace/pendant with orgonite or particalized quantum quartz crystals, those devices have both been shown to reduce personal interaction with EMF, it might help your electronics issues somewhat, as well as providing the obvious benefit of potentially reducing the undesirable effects of EMFs on your body.
I've been wearing a quantum balance nano particle quartz mineral composite around my neck for about 2 months now, and it's been working great (just like Seeder, no one can agree that it ACTUALLY works or how it works, but almost everyone that sincerely tries it out gets good results despite that).
Disclaimer: I am not a hippie, but I don't worship the status quo either, this is just my 2cents on newer ideas about dealing with EMFs. Open minds required.

He'll I wish that after an hour and forty five minutes of screen on time I was only down to 72%. Sounds like a complaint about the battery being too good.
I hear the usb cables could to blame as well. the "charging juice" gets used up in them over time.
On a side note concerning battery, I noticed that my battery charging is occurring in less time than before.

I think the stock battery of this phone is 2500 and it usually doesn't go down that fast. When I was getting ready for work I turned off the phone and hook it up to a different charger. Then on the way to work, I put it on the car charger and he was fully charged by the time I got to work. Right now, it is over 6 hours later and I am at 74 percent battery. And this was with listening to a lot of streaming radio.

I said in my first post that I had a backup phone. It isn't an e4gt. Regardless of what brand it is, or where this post should be, I have experienced this with my e4gt many times. Back to the subject of the post. I charged my backup on a different charger last night. I unplugged 50 minutes ago and I'm at 93% now. This is what I meant when I was talking about sometimes old chargers can stop providing a good overnight charge. I've read in instructions for after market extended life batteries to let it top off trickle charge for a few hours after it hits 100% full charge. I know this topic might have been brought up before. There might be some who didn't see it or might at least take it with a grain of salt to try if they might have battery or charging problems in the future. I put my e4gt, the one that is waiting to be replaced, on the same newer charger last night when I was at work. It already had a full charge with the extended battery that was in it. When I got home, unplugged it and started using it, it stayed at 100 for around 30 minutes before the level began going down.
Well since you aren't directly talking about the E4GT, you are in the wrong forum. It is not the chargers fault anyways. It is either an old battery or erroneous apps causing your battery drain. How can it possibly be the charger when it isn't connected to the device? It is in no way related to the charger not providing enough power. If that were the case, it would either not charge the device at all, or charge it very slowly. Once it us disconnected it will have no effect on the phone.

So I've been looking at these mounts and am on the fence about it. Costs a bit more than you would usually drop on a mount ($70-$100), but reviews of it are quite amazing. The sticky/suction pad is apparently really good, and the arms are stable and have a smooth release. On top of that it has a built in NFC chip. Now the Wireless Charging is where i get a little iffy. This device puts out 750mA. Comparitively the Nexus 4 charging orb puts out 1,000mA. I also have read in various places that some of Nokia's wireless chargers have a cycle issue where the device charges/stops/charges/stops. This effect might be visible on a Nexus 4 using this charger at this video (53seconds). Anyone have one they can test, or have recommendations to a similar mount?
I've read a lot of reviews about a critical part breaking easily.
Sent from my SGS3.
So, did anyone tried it? Does it work with Nexus 5?
From the info that i could dig, the nexus 4 does not work, probably because the location of the charging coil.

From what I've read and researched, the problem wasn't with Nokia's chargers but the first versions of the N4, later revisions worked fine.

No, it doesn't work. Has the Start Stop charging fault. Shame, I appear to have wasted £56.....

When you put a Nexus 5 in the Nokia CR 200 it initially shows charging. Some time later (5, 10 ,30 seconds, maybe a few minutes - it seems to vary) it will stop charging. If you leave the phone in the dock, it will intermittently charge.
In my test over a couple of hours, the phone discharges pretty fast.
My conclusion is that it's useless as a charger for the Nexus 5.
If anyone has a workaround, I'd love to know, as the CR 200 is an otherwise sturdy bit of kit and I'm not sure what QI Wireless alternatives are available.

Thanks for letting us know. I've been actively seeking a qi car mount with nfc and this one was the prime choice aside from building my own. I wonder if it has to do with the bottom piece that sticks out for holding your phone in portrait mode, maybe the qi coils just aren't close enough together.
Nokia CR 200 works with Nexus 5 without any problems.
I received the Nokia cr 200 from Amazon yesterday and can confidently say it works brilliant. I haven't got any problems as mentioned in this thread. Just place the phone in the charger and the light at the bottom goes green and charged as it should. NFC is OK but got to know where the NFC chip is at the back of Nexus 5. I used the Google maps navigation and BT music streaming to my ford sony dab unit at the same time for about 50mins and the battery percentage just stays at the same level as before putting on charge. With BT music streaming it actually charges as the screen is switched off I guess. Its a good quality car mount but he clip is not the strongest I would say. Suction is absolutely fine as it has a stickiness to the suction. I don't know what app I got to use to check the charge voltage etc. Pls let me know if u want to know any details. But it works as it should very happy.
Out of curiousity, if NFC is so important, why not just buy an NFC sticker and slap it on there? Is it because it wouldn't look as cool?

have a look at what "OWL" has to offer...I ordered One....we'll See what this thing can Do.
More of a note to myself so I can find the thread again, but also just ordered one. Have a long car journey next week so should be able to give it a good run in, if it arrives in time.
Amazon seem to be doing it for £54 which seemed to be the cheapest outside of ebay
So it arrived today from Amazon and have had a bit of a play
Initial thoughts is that it is quite sturdy and looks good. Did the shake test and it did not come away, however a point of note is that it seems to grip but give it another squeeze to make it go a couple more notches in which kept the back flush with the charging plate. Just squeezing the grips until it makes contact won't hold it firmly in place and you get movement like on the Youtube review.
I've connected it to my bench supply as I'm at work. With the screen off/no GPS running its charges from 72% to 100% in just over an hour. The screen seems warm to touch and the back hotter which was expected. I've not had it been or connect/disconnect charging as mentioned in some reviews but I stress that this is on my desk at work.
Tonight drive home is about 40 min so will run TomTom and see if there is any power drop and tomorrow I have a 200 mile round trip so I can get some good testing done then as well. I'm hoping I will see the battery stay at the same level as when it was connected.
Does anyone have any suggestions of a launcher tailored to cars (car mode)?
Hi More testing done and I'm impressed so far.
Setting back home last night, I set TomTom up, the Settings of the phone was
GPS - Device Only
Automatic Backlight
TomTom in night mode
The battery at the start was 66% and at the end of the 2 1/2 hour journey it grew to 79%. So the phone charged while the screen was on and was using GPS.
Now admittedly this was not during the day, I did not have time to check the battery on the journey to the destination, however I did not notice any really drop in the battery from the icon. However halfway through the journey I noticed that the battery was not charging as I was rushing when I placed the phone in the cradle it was not fully flush with the back plate and/or I did not squeeze the clips that would hold it in place securely.
I need more testing but I think using this would be fine, potentially if you had full backlight and GPS running with TomTom in day mode I guess there may be a drop in the battery, but not much.

I'm sorry but I do not have or use a case. If someone would like to send one to me for a few days I'm more than happy to test.
Next week when I have a chance I will attach it to my bench supply and do some testing at different levels of brightness and more than happy to test with bumpers/cases if people like to send them
I'm rather surprised by those of you getting it to charge, mine wouldn't put through enough charge when GPS, screen on and streaming music.
(My follow up to the video someone kindly posted earlier.)

battery goes for 15 percent straight to 10, then to 5, then dead.

so lately my battery is being annoying. I'll hit 15 percent, then outta nowhere it goes right to 10, then all of a sudden I hear the beeps again and my brightness lowers and i'm at 5. wtf?
then within like 30 seconds, it's dead and the phone is shutting off.
now, it did this before a factory reset, and again after one. I'm still in kitkat 4.4.4.
the battery status is fine, and it's not bloated or anything. I hardly ever use fast charging so I have trouble believing that within less than 1 year of the phone, the battery died already.
my battery life in general is garbage and i average maybe barely 3 hours screen on time a day at like 16 hours off charger... but what this is doing I've never had happen on a phone before.
any thoughts?

My wife's does the same thing. I believe it is a bad cell in the battery. Haven't bought a new battery to test my theory though.
hmm damn. i mean, i don't wanna waste the 40 or so bucks on a new battery when I'm considering the new nexus 5 when it comes out, ya know? status says health is fine and everything though. that sucks. never had a battery go bad on me before, especially in such short time.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
Mine did the same thing, I thought it was because I left it in the car during the hot phoenix summers. I bought a new one from Samsung on Amazon for $13 (OEM) and it worked perfectly, and overheats less now too
wow samsung batteries are that cheap?
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
so, I did the trick where you let the phone die then keep it off and charge it to 100, which some people said fixed it.
didn't do anything here. when i hit 10 percent, the phone just shut off. it was dead. makes no sense. like, when it shut off, it turned itself back on and tried booting. hit the Verizon splash screen, the lights came on, then shut off.. and tried booting up again. it was as if it's in a dead battery bootloop. once I plugged it in then it fully booted... and it was at 1 percent.
look at this screen shot. you can see where it died at 10 percent.
also, does anyone else's phone seem much laggier when it's charging? typing lags so hard when it's plugged in. this damn phone...

I take it you bought the phone straight out from Verizon?
If it's been less than a year since you got it (although they really don't pay attention to dates in my experience), call Verizon and ask for a warranty replacement w/ battery (If you bought it from them, not sure if they'll still do it if you got it elsewhere). Use the new battery to test the phone. If it's the battery, you just swap it out and send back, the phone they sent you.
true. I think at this point I'm just going to go buy a new battery. I'm going to get the one with the charger because it seems the ones on amazon are fakes according to the recent reviews. 40 bucks but eh let's see.

I have also been having this problem.... more often than I am comfortable with. And in my case, it goes from 30-40% (even 50% once) to zero in a flash.
Verizon support responded to my Tweets and they insist that it is software problem - one of my apps doing it.
This is what they told me:
" VZW Support @VZWSupport
We certainly want you to rely on your battery life to give you a great time with your phone. I've run the diagnostics and have some great news, the battery checks out. The plus side is it helps us narrow down the situation as it indicates it's software related.
I've noticed a few things including a few apps on the phone that may be contributing. We do have an awesome way to test it. Visit vz.to/1B30APG to see information on powering up the phone into safe mode.
That will leave the phone using only applications that came with it out of the box. I would suggest leaving it on safe mode for several hours to see if the battery drain continues.

damn that's bad. and God verizon are a bunch of morons. this isn't a software problem. it's a hardware problem. I've done a factory reset and it still does it.

Hate to side with samsung and verizon... i actually am not...they've pissed me off!! Loved my note 1,2,3...they broke my 4 and made a crap 5!!!! ...but I digress...
The 15% problem I do believe is a software issue. It started for me as soon as I did the lolipop upgrade. It happened to a friend of mine as soon as THEY did the lolipop upgrade. Besides the fact that 99-16% goes SOOO fast on lolipop...this is probably the single most disturbing thing since the upgrade... bleep *power off* CRAP! I didn't even get the phone out of my pocket yet!!!
AAAGGGHHHH!!!!
I'm on kitkat. not lolipop.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
Mine was having the same battery issue dying at 15%. Got a free replacement battery thru insurance. Now it last as long as it did when I first bought the phone.
It's just guesswork on my part but it is probably the firmware issue rather than a battery issue.
I have purchased an extra battery with external charger.
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
i like how there's a steady decline over night with like no wake time lol was like 10 percent overnight.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4
I think i broke my phone lol today for some reason it stayed at 100 percent for 4 hours off charger and 20 minutes screen on time. it has never ever done that. it drops fast from 100 to 90 within the first like 15 minutes of usage. makes absolutely no sense. damn battery.
Sent from my Galaxy Note 4

had my Moto X for two weeks so the note has been off with the battery taken out. powered it on the other day and it had 65 percent.. where I left off 2 weeks ago. within 5 minutes of using the phone I got the low battery warning at 15 percent, then it dropped to 5 and shut off. I was like wtf?? I plugged it in when it was "dead" and it showed 55 percent battery left.
wtf is wrong with that thing??
Sent from my Moto X Pure Edition
Just FYI, mine is doing the same went from 40 to 15 to 5 and off. Been doing it a lot lately. Took it to Verizon and it passed a battery test. Since its within one year they are sending me a new phone. Will be here Tuesday.

Looks like I'm in the crap battery life club. I'm going to Verizon tomorrow or Sunday, in order to get a replacement. My handset speaker is screwed up as well. I liked this phone until I upgraded to Kitkat. It has been horrible ever since. I may try to flash my phone back to 4.4.4 to see if things get better.

If it's the same dimensions as OEM battery it shouldn't be a problem. I know I had 1950 Mah battery in my old Evo 3d and it worked just fine. You got me interested with this, it's time to change my battery too. There are no phones that I like just now, and my trusty old M7 could get a nice present these days. Now, only thing to do is to figure out how to replace the damn thing [emoji23]

That's true to some extent. Not all batteries on e-bay or Amazon, or wherever, are knockoffs. There are some that really do have specified capacity, and Polarcell has some very good reviews

Interesting!! I'm about to replace my battery aswell and now that I've seen this battery I'm going to wait and read your tests to decide whether to buy this 2800mAh one or the original.
Looking forward to read your news
So, I tested my original battery with this tester and it measured ~2300mAh, which seems accurate.
Still waiting for a part of the housing to perform surgery on my phone, but it is very cold now, so I'm afraid to start taking the phone apart

I just replaced my HTC one M7 battery and ear piece speaker. It's not as hard as many people said. It took about one and half hour. And I caused no damage to the read cover. You don't need a new rear cover.
