Spare OEM Battery

I've been Quoted INR 900 (USD 17) for OEM S3 battery by Samsung Service center and tomorrow I am going to buy it, as mine last only 1.5 days.Anyone thought of doing same?

With my S1 and then S2 I purchased 3 spare batteries and in-wall charger off eBay for about 11usd. In roughly 2 years they never let me down. Keep 1 in the car, 2 at home and 1 in the phone obviously.
I have already bought 3 for my S3. Should be here next week.

Why charge your phone when you can just pop the back cover and slap a full battery in? I have rarely used the charger in 2 years.
From 0 to 100% in 30 seconds. That's why I love a removal battery.

I'm not the one who like to carry chargers and hunt for outlets and using phone while charging.I have habit of charging the phone whilst its switched off which dramatically improves cell life.
@sxi200:completely agree with you mate nothing beats a spare 100% battery.

Spare battery always from the accessories thread once they start posting with battery's like the Anchor etc .

You do make a great point. Replace a battery in 3 minutes or charge the phone for a few hours.

I have never used a spare battery,
All my phones have only needed one charge a day, my iphone 4 i would plug in for on hour or so before getting out of bed
I have modified my S3 so it just needs to be placed on the palm touchstone, so whenever i put my phone down on the bedside cabinet it charges
Samsung will be releasing thier own wireless charger in the next few months, nothing simoler than just placing your phone on the charging pad, certainly easier then messing around removing tne fiddly and delicate rear cover of the phone
Even car charhers are so cheap now, and just 20 minutes on the way to work will add quite a bit of power
Its not like a few years ago when the smartphone would need constant charging because the battery on lasted a few hours
However, if you prefer keeping spare batteries then thats your choice, and whatever works for you is all that is important.. Enjoy your S3's.

I paid $12AUD (Approx 12USD) for all 3 batteries and wall charger. Got them today. Took 7 days to arrive from China.

The only trouble with no oem batts, is they dont normally have the NFC stuff in, so no good if you use NFC

Last year I was caught short 6 times with unplanned stuff that happened and didn't have enough charge and had to swap the battery over, so I'll definitely be getting a spare and keeping in the glovebox along with my emergency charger, and if I had an IPhone or One X I would have been stuffed, and that's why I'm never gonna buy a phone without a removable battery even though some experts say that's the future of Smartphones.

Im always by a charger but sometimes (weekend night) I will need a spare so its always nice to have the option to swap batteries.
Question though.
If I get another OEM Samsung battery with NFC chip does anything on the phone need to be reset each time I swap back n forth or will it just pick up after each swap.

You could also look at it this way, if you are close to your glovebox, you are close to the cigar lighter
Even when i was in hospital there was a socket near the bed

That makes sense. Ill probably pick up a few emergency Ebay batteries as well though. The wifey is a battery hog when we go out.

Well yeah if I want to sit in the car for 3 hours while it charges. What I'm talking about is doing things where I actually need my phone to be mobile and can't do that if I'm stuck by a charger, and too often I have been caught short on charge and a spare battery has saved me.

as i said before, if that works for you.
I come from the iphone background.. Had them all.. Sony experia mini.. Htc one x.. And none of them had replaceable batteries and you get used to it
I think its a case of i always left the house with a good charge, and when in the car i would put on charge for the lenght of the journey
However, i know that buying a spare battery for me would be a waste, as i rarely keep a phone for more than 3 months

Woke up today to my backup phone, I'm waiting for my e4gt replacement's replacement to arrive, fully charged. I've been using the phone for one hour and forty five minutes on the web and I'm down to 72% battery. This phone is almost three weeks old and should be in the nineties or high eighties with the battery by now. I was charging it with an old Samsung charger last night. This is the second Samsung charger that I'm going to throw out because it doesn't have the charging capacity like it used to. I had a friend, years ago, that used to say to unplug the charger when not in use because it will shorten its life if you don't. He claimed the electronics inside wear out after awhile. I thought it was nonsense at the time but I am wondering now if he might have been onto something legit. Just one more thing to take under consideration when trying to figure out why your battery isn't charging fully, even with its trickle top off charge.

Gee, I don't know oscar, but you would make an interesting case study about what not to do with electronics.
I have two Epics since 11/2011 original phones with the original chargers that have not been unplugged since day one, except when we travel and unplug them to take with us, and the only thing that's been done was replace the batteries last Dec.
They are rooted since day one only one soft brick, and haven't had no issues, no trips to the sprint store, they just function every day, no problems, no complaints.
Hmmm. Maybe you have a unusual electromagnetic polarity that causes your body to damage electronic devices?
Do you have problems with toasters or microwaves? Hmmm.
Do you work where Homer works, in a nuclear reactor? Hmmm.
If you pick up a light bulb does it lights up? Hmmmm.
Try a ground strap.
Just my 2 centavos.

Maybe try wearing a necklace/pendant with orgonite or particalized quantum quartz crystals, those devices have both been shown to reduce personal interaction with EMF, it might help your electronics issues somewhat, as well as providing the obvious benefit of potentially reducing the undesirable effects of EMFs on your body.
I've been wearing a quantum balance nano particle quartz mineral composite around my neck for about 2 months now, and it's been working great (just like Seeder, no one can agree that it ACTUALLY works or how it works, but almost everyone that sincerely tries it out gets good results despite that).
Disclaimer: I am not a hippie, but I don't worship the status quo either, this is just my 2cents on newer ideas about dealing with EMFs. Open minds required.

I hear the usb cables could to blame as well. the "charging juice" gets used up in them over time.

On a side note concerning battery, I noticed that my battery charging is occurring in less time than before.

I think the stock battery of this phone is 2500 and it usually doesn't go down that fast. When I was getting ready for work I turned off the phone and hook it up to a different charger. Then on the way to work, I put it on the car charger and he was fully charged by the time I got to work. Right now, it is over 6 hours later and I am at 74 percent battery. And this was with listening to a lot of streaming radio.

I said in my first post that I had a backup phone. It isn't an e4gt. Regardless of what brand it is, or where this post should be, I have experienced this with my e4gt many times. Back to the subject of the post. I charged my backup on a different charger last night. I unplugged 50 minutes ago and I'm at 93% now. This is what I meant when I was talking about sometimes old chargers can stop providing a good overnight charge. I've read in instructions for after market extended life batteries to let it top off trickle charge for a few hours after it hits 100% full charge. I know this topic might have been brought up before. There might be some who didn't see it or might at least take it with a grain of salt to try if they might have battery or charging problems in the future. I put my e4gt, the one that is waiting to be replaced, on the same newer charger last night when I was at work. It already had a full charge with the extended battery that was in it. When I got home, unplugged it and started using it, it stayed at 100 for around 30 minutes before the level began going down.

Well since you aren't directly talking about the E4GT, you are in the wrong forum. It is not the chargers fault anyways. It is either an old battery or erroneous apps causing your battery drain. How can it possibly be the charger when it isn't connected to the device? It is in no way related to the charger not providing enough power. If that were the case, it would either not charge the device at all, or charge it very slowly. Once it us disconnected it will have no effect on the phone.

[REVIEW] KiDiGi Wireless Charging Dock for Google New Nexus 7 (2013)

PROS:
I picked one of these up on eBay (UK) for about £30, delivered from Hong Kong.
Received it in 7 days.
The build quality is good.
It's powerful enough to keep the tablet charged whilst the daydream is running.

CONS:
The light on the front is actually very bright, but I suppose a small label can block this out. Not an ideal design idea, though, especially as it blinks whilst charging and can make your dark bedroom flash.
The charger that comes with it is high powered enough for the job, although my wife complains that she can hear it buzz (or the dock buzzes, I'm not sure which), I hear it also and it is rather annoying.
The main issue is, though, when you place the tablet in the dock, there is a beep to tell you it is connected and charging, and let me tell you, the charging beep is absolutely deafening and can easily wake my baby when I put it in the dock before I get in bed.
The notification beep is a completely useless feature that only serves to wind the customer up. The tablet will tell you it's charging anyway, and also the flashing LED on the front (that should have been static and much dimmer).
Initially, when I first used it, the dock reached full charge and just kept silently topping up without the notification beep, so it was bearable. But (and this is a BIG 'but') the last couple of nights it started beeping every 30 seconds as the daydream took the battery down to 99% and the dock reconnected to top it back up. It is very annoying when this starts happening as it can happen twice, sometimes even 3 times a minute until you take the tablet off the dock. It's so ill-thought-out it's almost laughable (or it's a fault, I'm not entirely sure?).
Curiously, the first time it did this, I rebooted the tablet and it stopped the dock beeping whilst it was maintaining 100%, it just kept the tablet charging silently, but last night after about an hour on charge (in the middle of the night) it started doing it again. I had to get up and take the tablet off the dock - it's the only solution I'm afraid. The really infuriating thing is, this beep is so ludicrously loud, I couldn't even put the dock in my spare bedroom and use it as a charger, as it is loud enough to wake my other children in the rooms next door!
Therefore, in conclusion and unfortunately, I have to warn you NOT to buy one of these if you don't like the idea of cracking it open and attempting to disable the speaker. I might write to the manufacturer if I get time, and see what their thoughts are. I'll let you know if this happens and what the response is.
CONCLUSION:
A VERY stupid couple of design ideas ruin what is an otherwise well made feeling dock!
UPDATE:
I wrote to KiDiGi and they replied immediately and explained that I could "cut the wire to disconnect the beeper". I think maybe something was lost in translation as I popped it open and found this:
Well it's hardly easy to disable the speaker as the speaker is actually soldered to the main board (and I don't have a soldering iron to remove it). So I decided to disable it with brute force. Not ideal, granted, but the dock is useless with the speaker activated, so I guess I've little to lose. Clearly the suggestion of cutting the wire will disable the LED not the speaker, but I don't want to disable the LED, it's useful, just too darn bright and annoying, it's the beep that is the main issue:
So I decided to take a folk prong and placed it in the hole of the plastic speaker cover and prise it upwards, with the hope the speaker would come away from the board. It didn't, it just broke the black plastic casing around the speaker. Once this had happened, I used the folk prong to remove the little metal speaker baffle inside. To do this I inserted the folk prong into the side of the speaker baffle and prised the metal disc out. It's a 30 second job, but far from an elegant solution.
Whilst I was there, I decided to address the LED. I placed a folded piece of paper between the LED and the cover. This time this was a simple and elegant solution as I didn't want to cut the wire completely. A little LED is useful when it isn't turning your room into a disco:
The net result is; that the dock now doesn't beep when the tablet is inserted and the LED is very dim, so doesn't flash so brightly, and is only really visible in a dark room at night:
It wasn't a tasking job, anyone could do it, but it's frustrating that you need to do it.
The manufacturer has agreed to send me a new dock without the beeper, but I won't hold my breath.
I did actually hear the charger noise my wife was complaining about last night, too. It is rather irritating, but I'll try another charger and see if that solves it. If the manufacturer sticks to their word and sends me another dock, hopefully this will be resolved, too, as it seems to be a faulty batch of chargers that are causing it?
UPDATE:
Just a quick update, I received my replacement from the manufacturer and can confirm they've removed the annoying beeper. They've also dimmed the LED and the buzz from the charger is gone. Fair's fair, they listened to the customer and have now created a cracking product and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
To the guy asking about if the case would work. I still don't have a case for mine, so it's hard to say, but if you look at the bottom where the tablet slots in, it seems big enough to take a case too as it is a graduating slot, if you know what I mean. What I was unsure about was if the charging would work through the case, so I tried to emulate this by jamming a notepad behind the tablet. There is approximately 20 sheets of paper and a huge gap between the tablet and the back pad of the dock, and it still charged, so I guess technically it should work, but couldn't 100% confirm it. Hope this helps and sorry for the really slow reply.

Was looking into this as well, as i use my SGS3 w/ charger/dock as my bedside alarm clock and want to replace it with my Nexus 7. The one thing i've read that isn't good is it has a "charging" light when on stand and a beeping noise upon fully charge (that also goes off after fully charge drops and charges again). Can you confirm this? Thanks.

Not sure I'm afraid, I don't have a case for it yet...but do have a dent in the side and big scratch on the screen where I dropped it in a MacDonald's car park and it went for a slide under a car. I can at least confirm that a 4ft drop onto concrete is survivable, just!

The jury is still out on this a bit. The light is pretty dim and doesn't really bother me, and a small label can block this out.
But the charging beep is deafening. that's a shame. i'm still looking for another dock charger i can use in landscape for my alarm clock. some day.

I've got good news and bad news. There is nothing that can be done about that annoying beep. I can tell you how to fix the other issue tho. KiDiGi determined that some of the USB wall adapters they sent were bad. They sent me a replacement. I have not gotten it yet, but I did use another 2.1Amp USB wall wart and all is fine now. That should fix the buzzing and the constant beeping.

I've got good news and bad news. There is nothing that can be done about that annoying beep. I can tell you how to fix the other issue tho. KiDiGi determined that some of the USB wall adapters they sent were bad. They sent me a replacement. I have not gotten it yet, but I did use another 2.1Amp USB wall wart and all is fine now. That should fix the buzzing and the constant beeping.

The company contacted me yesterday to tell me they're despatching one without the beep. I'll test it and report back, although my trick in the OP does work, although has voided the warranty of course. I'll report back ASAP. If it works, I suggest you contact the manufacturer direct and ask if you can buy one, because the beep is the only thing that really causes a headache. Otherwise it's a good device.

I think with a qi from eBay and some piece of wood and tape , you can build your own support in 45 minutes.
I did a support last year in foam(white staff found in TV box).
U just need to cut it and tape.
U can even paint it.
Why not make a post "best hand made wireless support"?

We have the unit temporary removed the listing.

Seems like your regular generic qi charger, but in the shape of an orb. I'm wondering whether or not it works well, and if it hold on to the phone while charging.

I just got one in the mail. Looks the same as the ones you posted. Nexus 5 fits well on and stays in place. Doesn't seem to be too sensitive to placement of the phone. Just doesn't read the very bottom or top of phone, but expected not to. Also, works with a case on. So far it's nice for $20.
Over the next couple days I'll see how it actually preforms and see what power it's giving off.

It's now been through about 3-4 charges and so far I'm happy with the purchase. It charged from 10% - 88% in 2:08 at 6-750 mA, then 88% - 100% in 50 at 3-400 mA. It seems to slow the charge when it gets close to 90%. Can't say if it trickle charges but it doesn't seem like it's overcharging. Battery temp drops when it hits 100% and when I pulled it off about 6 hours later it was at 100% still but cool to the touch. I read some chargers aren't trickle because of the software on the N5, not sure though.
Placement isn't very sensitive but can't go very low or high on it, works in landscape and with a case. It has three LEDs red, green, and blue and aren't blinding at night. I'm probably going to get another for $25.

Thanks for the info. 40 C (104 F) seems a bit warm but I understand that is normal for wireless charging. It's good to know it was cool to the touch when you took it off. The charge rate is comparable to other Qi chargers, though significantly slower than wired. I would say it's a fair trade-off for saving wear and tear on your micro USB port though. It's also good to hear the LEDs aren't blinding.
I am trying to decide between this particular model and the Metrans MWT03 charger (also in the $20-25 price range). I would say my deciding factors are if the charger 1) does trickle charging at 100% while keeping the phone cool instead of completely shutting off, 2) doesn't have an audible notification- some people find it annoying to hear a beep in the middle of the night every time there is a break in the charge.
Edit: never mind, I found the listing through your entry on the Qi survey. If anything changes in your experience with the orb, please keep us updated!

Yea, it seemed high but seeing others I didn't worry. Looking at the log from the past few nights, the max it actually hit was 36c so not sure how come it got so hot the first night. Having the phone at 100 when I pull it off is nice and I like the incline for viewing it while charging. Still not sure about the trickle charge, I notice if I take it off when it's at 100% it will not charge the device and the battery falls. I will have to test to see if it picks the charge back up at the lower 90%.

Did anybody already order one of these in Europe?

Today I ordered one of the black ones from a shop on alibaba, hopefully it will arrive soon.
I'm gonna post my experience here as soon as I get my hands on it. I hope DHL delivers fast.

Finally got it
After a slight dispute with customs office (had to pay nothing in the end, yay! ) I was finally able to try one out, having paid $24 (~17€) for it, including shipping costs.
The box looks surprisingly similar to the crazily overpriced original Nexus 4 charger, which I tried to get first, but no luck for me.
It comes with just the Charger, a reasonably long USB cable and the power adapter. Everything we need to set it up and get it running.

I was lucky, there's been a hole in either charger and AC Adapter, for each end of the cable, and fortunately they fit. :good:
The charger itself looks pretty neat, and to my surprise feels somehow heavy. I feared, that I could knock it over by misplacing the phone or something, but it weights easily double or more than the phone, so big plus on this side.
On the right, there are three LED's(red blue green, not in the picture) which switch on depending on the devices charging status. Their brightness level is reasonably low, which makes it no problem to keep it near the bed.
At first I was pretty skeptical, that the phone would stick to the charger, and so slide off, due to the steep slope. Once I removed the plastic foil on it, my doubts were blown away. That surface is so freakin' sticky, you fear more, that your phone will never come off the charger again. It absolutely stays in place, and it is not even that sensitive where or how to place the phone on it (just the very top and bottom didn't work).
And here we have the only downside. As it sticks so good, I fear that it will attract dust. Lots of it. And after some use, it will look a little bit nasty. If I find a way to clean it without losing the stickiness, It is perfect.
I didn't have time to do a 5-100% charge, but what I saw until now it charges ~ 1/4 slower than with the original power adapter. I didn't stop the exact time but in about an hour it charged 35-40 %. It seems that it becomes slower towards the end and just tops off the phone anytime it drops below 100% when full. Furthermore, as reportet by others, the phone is becomming slightly warm, but not even close to "hot", which I guess is pretty normal.
As an extra, they provided a short manual with warnings and warranty stuff, which is not really useful, but as for most chinese products, very funny to read
[TL;DR]
So overall I am very, very satisfied with my purchase it looks like the N4 orb (just the center "nexus" text is missing), and it works very well with the Nexus 5 (pessimistic guess 1/3 of battery per hour).
There is absolutely no chance that the phone slides off or doesn't stick to the charger, and it is not really sensitive to the positioning either.
Only minor doubt is that after some time dust will stick to the surface and give it a nasty look, but I hope I can prevent that from happening.

Yikes, I was hoping to find exactly this thread about a couple of weeks ago before I ordered the very same.
My experience with the charger has been largely the same. Seems to charge just as quickly as my official Nexus Orb, the LEDs are not super bright, and while my phone does get slightly warmer, I would be surprised if anyone considers it hot at all.
As far as comparisons with the official Nexus Orb, the materials look the same. If anything, I think this one is *slightly* lighter. Both orbs are identical in terms of the sticky materials. My N5 has never slipped a millimeter on either orb.
EDIT: Oh one big difference is the power adapter block itself. On the knockoff, the adapter is one of those stupid, massive bricks that takes up like two and a half outlet spots on a power strip. It drives me crazy. I brought my Nexus 5 adapter into the office so I can have those other one and a half outlets back. That's probably my only big gripe with the knockoff.

Official vs Replicas
Not sure if others have had the same experience but I've been using the official Nexus 4 Orb for almost a year now. I bought one of these replica's about 4 months ago for half the price of the official. I have to say, it's pretty neat. I've always been a fan of docks on my desk but the orb is brilliant as it serves a dual purpose for me (dock/stand plus charging ofcourse).
Anyway, all in all, they both work great as mentioned above. However, the stickiness of the replica isn't quite the same after a few months whereas the official nexus 4 orb is still perfect for me. Having said that, people had different experiences with even the official one so it could just be me. A great device at the end of the day and well the good news is that it still works after 4 months! (I'm just not very confident of the phone sticking on it overnight/for long periods as I have seen it slip/slide whereas the phone stays perfectly on the official one overnight).

[*NEW*] Nexus 5 Battery Upgrade! BL-T19 2700mAh Mod (nexus 5x battery)

The Nexus 5 was produced a while ago, more than 4 years!
But this phone is still fast and I'm using it as my daily device. But there was one problem, the battery!
If you want to replace it you still get an (if you're lucky) an original used battery. If you're unlucky it's a fake one or it was just lying around, loosing all capacity and is at least as bad as the battery you already have.
In 2013/2014 a lot of people managed to press an Lg G2 battery inside the nexus, the BL-T7
BUT this phone and it's battery is very old, like the nexus 5
I tried the BL-T7 Mod, after receiving a lot of fake batterys, I finally got an original one, but yeah, still a 3 years old battery, that was lying around - so it was not good at all, and I lost NFC and Wireless charging

On Ebay, I was looking for a new phone (because of bad battery life) and I found a perfectly fine looking Nexus 5x for 20€, the seller said it won't turn on. I ordered it and i did not manage to repair it, the seller just lied, bc he didn't say it was damaged by water
What I did: I saw the battery, thought about, "hey this is a 2016 battery, original and it may fit"
I ripped it out and really managed to swap this 2700mAh BL-T19 battery with my Lg G2 3000mah BL-T7 battery that was inside my nexus

But my core clock is at 2.35Ghz
It was not a worst case, but it's real
and it's not only 20%, because the original battery is veeery old, you are very lucky if you get one with more than 1700mah left

I doubt any of us were getting 5-6 hours SOT even 4 years ago.. maybe, though. It has been a long time. I'm not doubting you, just wondering out loud how that works out since the math sounds weird.

Mostly it's because I really tried to get the best Sot, with using it not much. So my phone was a long time on my desk with whatsapp open, and I was only texting.
That's no usual usage, my usual usage was 7 hours Sot, still impressive

I picked up a 5x battery and was going to attempt this but holy cow, you have to make about 1cm of room from cutting the frame/plastic covers. That's far more material than I'm comfortable doing... I'd say keep looking for a similarly sized battery since you're manually wiring the electrodes to the mainboard anyway...

I think you didn't take a look at my pictures, you have to remove everything around it, and reassemble the battery board on the side, if you need one more centimeter, you did something realy wrong
I have an original 5x battery, and I can confirm that theres enough space to fit it in

Ah I did miss that. Once I peeled the battery and swapped boards it appears to fit with trimming just the top and bottom borders.
That said, it still didn't work for me... I must've fried my board because it just keeps booting to the battery icon over and over, even when I remove the battery connections.
Also, in your pics you seem to only have two wires directly soldered to the three pads below the battery connector then another wire going into the battery connector itself... is that right?
Anyone know if there's a way to recover from the battery icon reboot sequence? I'm able to get to the fastboot mode, but if it tries to boot into recovery or system it'll just shut off and go back to the battery icon.

That's exactly the reason why I now use another battery board. I killed my original one and had the same battery icon reboot problem. And yes one wire is going to the battery connector itself because I broke the pin on the board, but don't worry, It's the same connection. So you can either use the pins or the connector or a mix between
