Is this normal on the one x? - HTC One X

So i got one x a few days ago and i like it besides the battery but i have one question when im using the phone (wifi, music and fb) it goes to like 41C and with gaming 44c so should i be woried or is this normal for the one x? Im on stock rom with locked bootloader and latest software

Mines been up to 49 and its done no harm, some people have reported higher without getting any problems so don't worry

Use core control and drop it down to two cores when using the pone generally I am getting better battery life in general use on two cores when I play demanding stuff I hit on all fours.

Is it better with 2 cores i mean the battery cause i didnt unlock my device yet but if unlocking may improve battery then i will (i mean unlocking bootloader, rooting and then disabeling the 2 cores) i was a flashoholic but i realy like sense 4 so no need for me to loose my waranty

Mine too gets really hot and drains battery like crazy

My SGS2 also gets hot similary to one x but not as fast as the one x gets hot that's what worried me

[Q] Performance Profiles

Hi there Forum-goers.
I did do a search as I've seen no mention of it in reviews, but does the HTC One X have performance profiles like the Transformer Prime?
For example, mine has (roughly):
Power Save
One core ~1GHz, the rest off, companion core used when possible.
Balanced
Highest frequency of 1.2GHz
Performance
Four cores at 1.3GHz or one at 1.4GHz.
And obviously these have a large effect on how long I can use it, how long it lasts on standby etc.
So did HTC implement a similar set of profiles or did they miss this opportunity?
No profiles this is done automaticly, Battery under 30% 4 cores max at 1ghz, Above 30% 1 core at 1.5 or 4 cores at 1.3 ghz, no/little tasks companion core etc.
hmm im wondering would it be possible to get all 4 cores running at 1.5ghz some overclocking on tegra 3 has been done on the prime though its going to be very device specific.

That seems mildly ridiculous. I bet the phone would last a whole lot longer if user changeable profiles were there.
I'm kinda glad I hung back now, I got bit with "early adopter syndrome" on the TP, not doing it with this either... but I don't wanna stop using HTC now :/ Maybe they'll release an S4 based version of the X after all in the UK.

With all due respect, we're talking about two different companies here. HTC is one of the largest android based phone manufacturers. Asus just started making tablets last year with the tf 101. I was not happy with transformer prime myself,(went through 3 of them) but just because this phone has the Tegra 3, does not make it have the problems of the transformer prime.
If you're worried about battery life, I got about 24 hours of life out of my One X battery before It was too low and had to charge. This is after moderate use of the phone throughout the day and night.

Why do you think that? The S4 is build on a different architecture and works in a different way. The 4 cores of the Tegra 3 don't work if you don't need them the simple tasks are done by the 5th (more energy efficient) core, either way everything is working automaticly on demand. On standby the One X preserves the battery way better than my Galaxy Note. And it is known that there will be an update that will further optimise battery life on the One X.

They may be different manufacturers, but if the T3 in the OX is running in the equivalent of Performance mode all the way down to 30% battery, it's no surprise that people aren't getting brilliant life so far.
I love the Prime, but I am sending it back next week due to issues (camera only works if you squeeze by the lens, screws in keyboard dock have pulled loose, bright spot on screen)
I really want the HOX, even more so since trying one last week, that's why I'm asking questions about stuff that bother me, my current phone is a Desire HD, previous was a Hero, before that was an MDA Mail (HTC S620), I convinced my mum to have a Hero, she then upgraded to the Sensation, my Dad had the MDA Compact III (HTC Artemis 110), currently has the HTC Touch Diamond 2...
Yes, we sure do love our HTCs haha.

[Q] Battery Defect

How can i know if my battery is defect? i think so because i never had a better result than 10hours with my one x.. i tried everything! Flashed 100 Roms and 100 Kernels (Repacked and not) and cleaned my system 100times xD how can i test if its damaged? my htc is 2 weeks old!

This doesn't really make sense?
Are you asking a question?
Or telling us something?
For the battery, not much you can do could try getting an App such as Juice defender but alot of the time they chew more battery than they save.
For your router, buy a new one?
For a quicker browser experience I would try Opera
Hope I helped.
Congratulation, although I don't consider Nokia as a bad brand and actually I fell Nokia is more like a RIM and focused towards business users.
About your wifi, if the signal is consistent than perhaps like you said, it's your router fault.
Also, check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579392 (You better start from last pages).
Also, you need to be aware roots app won't work without it. For the core controlling wait Jelly beans it seems HTC had a similar app already bundled with it.
Good Luck
I just wanna know did u guys have any suggestion for me? And im using juice defender but i need a good program for closing apps on ram... On task manager i need to close programs one by one...

1115$ = 2000 Turkish Lira and its very much. Smartphones at turkey is almost twice as expensive as usa or uk(thanks to taxes). As a turkish person I always buy smartphones from non-gsm and trustworthy places:good:

For the battery, there are some simple thing you can do; but first you have to clarify what you mean by "what to do with the battery"?
Do you wanna treat it well to have a long lasting battery over months/years, or do you want to use it economically so that you can have a longer battery life for every re-charge.
The first one is easy. Never let it shut down due to no power, always re-charge before %10; and charge it more frequently during the day, not draining it all and recharging back to %100.
The second one is tweaky and after years, I've lost my faith since the time wasted to learn and use that battery saving stuff and also the brain damage, is not worth it. totally my own opinion.
Just try to use Wi-Fi is you're at home or at work for long periods, swtich to 2G during those times, lower the screen brightness as much as you can and shut down vibration where possible.
One thing though, as the word spread about HTC OneX+ arriving, most of the sellers have reduced the price for One X, around 1600TL (which is roughly $880). Did you but it from 2000 TL recently? If yes, that should better be bought on an agreement with Turkcell, if not then you paid a little more =)
Agree with all the battery advice above. This is good information.
Would also add to steer clear of task killers/ managers. Your phone will manage apps itself (though I know a lot of people think it is a bit aggressive on the one x). If you are constantly going in to shut down apps, your battery life will actually take a hit. Just leave it to settle down and do its thing.

Armenian here Speak turkish fluently, Parents from istambul also.
I have two HOX's both international, One is in repair, my backup though is wonderful when it comes to battery life, I also agree those battery savers, and task managers really dont do anything in my opinion, its more trouble then its worth. My HOX thats in repair didnt do very well with battery, its rooted and all, but battery really sucked, but when I get it back I'm going to do a bit of digging. My backup is amazing, currently 14 hours and still have 63% battery life, and I have really done nothing with the brightness or anything like that. The battery will really depend on your usage. If your going to play alot of games expect the battery to drain rather quickly especially with 4 cores. I dont play many games really, and heavily mainly talk, text, and play games maybe 3 or 4 times a month. From what I've seen, the battery doesnt take too much of a hit until you go past roughly 15 mins of playing an intense game, at which point the cores start to heat up and the constant screen being on which drains the battery quicker.
Also I would suggest dont use too many apps that sync in the background, thats another battery killer. And as great as live wallpaper might be, thats another one that drains it. If you use data as someone said try not to and use the wifi, I dont use data ever and have shut it down and just use wifi.
But based on my two Hox's I have to say I think build quality of the phone has a big part to play in the battery life, but I am going to do more testing on this once I get back my other phone from repair.

You remind me the good old time with my Nokia phones (big like a brick) that could last 1 week with one single charge
Killing apps to "free RAM" (why do you need it free?!?) and preserving battery are two mutually exclusive things. My advice is to stay away from any automated task managers and accept the fact that the only way to preserve battery is to use your phone less.
BTW you could've come to Bulgaria to buy the phone - it would've cost you much less

4 Cores, 1 GB ram, and micro lags...

just wanna know..what is 4 cores in HOX is doing...i have using various 2 cores phone and 1 cores...and i have been kinda disappointed in the performance in this HOX..dont get me wrong, i love HTC, just frustrating in the battery life and the performance...i know in benchmark score its outperform other HTC 2 cores devices..but when in user experience...it just perform as the same as my HTC EVO 3D...lag when selecting app in app drawer even for a little...i tough the idea of having 4 cores is eliminating this problem that others 2 core devices have...what i have experience when using 4 core device is just a big battery drain, sound problem and camera problem...i am using a custom rom, custom kernel and various kinda mods to perfect my HOX but still kinda disappointed, even when comparing with my EVO...even when not in use the battery drains much...the battery indicator not refresh when screen off, from 95% to 86% for a minute of using...doesnt have this problem in any other HTC device...the camera cannot focus in close object even in macro mode...my EVO can do better when taking pic in close position...the image in camera and when taking it is differ..kinda not what i expect....maybe there is more im not telling here but i hope for someone to read this even a developer can explain what the purpose of my questions is...why is 4 cores, 1 GB ram still feel the same as 2 cores phone...maybe worse i suppose...more problem than good....i just not feeling satisfied by this...if any would so kind to suggest what rom and kernel is good, it would be grateful....hope u all not mad im bragging nonsense in here...im just a user like u:angel:

Battery life is killing me

Hi all, I bought my brand new original HTC One X 3 days ago and it got the newest android version for it, JB. But there is a big problem and it is the battery, it's just horrible to see such a awesome phone with a battery life like that. Does anyone know which things I can do to have a better battery life? I already have the almost lowest brightness, no live wallpaper and no antivirus on the phone. I also use the official energi saving function that comes with jelly bean but it doesn't even make the battery better at all, not even a little bit. Please help!!!

You will find your phones battery life will improve, mine wasn't that good for the first few days.
When ever i get a new phone i always charge it over night & then when its off charge leave it till it bleeps to be put back on charge, do that for the first few times as i find it gives the best life.
Mine is very good now

can u say how long your on screen time or general battery life is? but at the first few times/days/weeks it's really bad but after few charge cycles it will bet better because the battery has to improve itself with the information the phone gives, you know? wait and charge and after a week or so it will be really better...

if you play more then 1 hour or so then that's not so bad because if you play a game or two only from full charge you can reache 2- 2,5 hours...with games like THD games or other which make a lil bit more heat or so ....and if you play only games like solitaire for this time or so ...then that's really not normal...you know that in the hox are 4 cores and 8 gpu cores, and therefore the battery isn't like in a phone with 2,500 or more mAh because our has only 1,800 mAh ...if yo uwant to disable it press long home button and then you can press the menu button and there will be settings in that you can disable google now and for the other google things just go in settings then apps and then all apps and there you can click on any app ! but don't deactivate system apps! and if you click on them there will be a button deactivate and yes press it and it is disabled
I usually play Dead Space but not for more than 20 minutes because the phone heats up like hell -.- And I disabled google now hope the battery will be a little bit better, but any more ideas how I can get better battery life please
With my HOX, I found having brightness at 60% or less made the biggest impact. Also, disabling wifi when not needed made a huge difference. Decrease the time between auto syncs, and also check for wakelocks. Might have an app waking the phone a lot.
But I do understand where you are coming from. The battery life was killing me also, so I bought a Note 2 as a primary phone and now use the HOX as a music player for which it is outstanding haha
the first time the battery is always bad ._. just wait some days or so and it will be better...and look with betterbatterystats which wakelocks you have then you can see which apps might make the battery life also more worse...
Thank you very much I will try them, the battery seems to be a little bit better when I turned Google Now off

Pretty obvious, isn't it? Plus the Snapdragon S4 Krait has a better manufacturing process (I think 32nm) compared to Tegra 3's 40nm process, so it's more efficient and less power hungry.

Not true. Look at the RAZR Maxx. If Motorola can put such a huge battery in a thin phone, there's no reason other manufacturers can't. Also, it was definitely possible to put a bugger battery in the One X, but HTC just didn't do it. They instead released One X+ sometime later and claimed better battery life as a 'feature'. That's just wrong, and very similar Motorola releasing the RAZR, and then the RAZR Maxx soon after. The phone should have had that battery since the start. The only reason I can find with Motorola is that the RAZR is slightly thinner for those who want it that way. But the One X and One X+ have 0 design difference.

Just don't forget that the T3 is a pretty "old" chip, it needs a lot of power.
Nevertheless, I think the One X isn't that bad regarding battery life. It will drain quickly if you start gaming, but you should expect that. It's no gaming device, it's still a smartphone. Of course you can play your games every now and then but if you expect you can game with that thing for hours without getting it to heat up or charge it in the meantime, you put your money on the wrong device
