Very Very dangerous....from the android apps that can change screen dpi about 40% of them have caused ALOT of problems.
You must do a full nandroid back up before you change your dpi because they cause bootloops, not booting at all. Soft bricking as-well.
Anyway whats the point in dpi changer

Nah mine work without problem with proper setting, but what I'm affraid is hardware problem like deadpixel.
Well I don't like things appear big in screen so I want to make it smaller.
Never use lcd modder apps, as it will cause bootloop. Use proper apps and it won't bootloop

If I change my screens lcd density to 280 in rom toolbox will it have any negative effects? Don't wanna break my screen or anything lol.
Cheers
280 will make it look bigger and uglier. Lower makes everything look smaller so more fits so like a larger res, whereas higher makes everything bigger. This is mine at 210

Also, i dont see any negative effects.

It can interfere with Wifi Calling.... but there is a work-around somewhere... search a bit and I'm sure you'll find it.
Changing the LCD density will also cause Market compatibility issues. Best to leave it at the default 240.

Playing with these settings won't do any damage. I have heard about the market issue but I've never had a problem. Try it and see, make a backup beforehand if your worried.
ok i was just messing around when i used holo lock for the jellybean lock screen and i didnt like it so i just uninstalled it and somehow my live wallpaper was my stock lock screen. I tried to reproduce what i had did, i have to restore my phone cause i messed it up.., and was unable to recreate the results. There where a couple of threads that had to mention it and a 3ed party app but somehow i did it without any apps any ideas???
Are you talking about having the live wallpaper from your main screens showing up on your lock sceen? If so, just set a non stock picture as your lock screen wallpaper (like a picture you took) go in to recovery, flash Darkside Cache Wipe. And that will give you a transparent lock screen. Like this

I want to remove it so it will look more like this:
In 4.1.2 I could just modify the framework-res.apk files, but those don't drive the display in 4.2+...
Would ZipThemer or MetaMorph be able to help me out?
No, I don't want a custom rom.

The " DarkerModJB_Universal_-_CWM_V8.4(JB_4.2.1)_mod_by_eng.stk.zip" the one of 972.8k file size, the before-last attachment. It's the one I've used and it works on 4.2.2.
I've not tested the 609.8k file size.

Just a quick guess, perhaps you need to change the dpi of the widget app(the app that provides the widget)?

I tried altting 480dpi to all apps I could think of that could have something to do with the lockscreen but it just doesn't work, the lockscreen dpi is still 380.

Are you changing the dpi through build.prop?
On previous phones including the S5 you could just change the build.prop or use gravity box to add on screen Nav keys... but every time I try with the N4, when I reboot I'll get system UI crashing non stop until I undo my changes.
Has anyone gotten them somehow?
I'm just a big soft keys fan
I made a similar thread asking the same thing. Haven't figured it out yet.
