site adverts - About xda-developers.com

keep seeing adverts in op's actual post on first screen, then they disapear and then come back again, a tad obtrusive dont you think?, stick to banner ads or have a permanent add section at top or side, toally understand the need for them though.

There's a thread for this purpose already. Please post about it there.

it wasnt really about a particular add, just that placements had just started appearing in posts rather than banner or sides.

You should probably have posted it there anyway, plus seeing as it's a sticky it would theoretically get more views. The only thing I can say is get an adblock.

Oh I'm going to help all right, you little &$%*^%$!

Check if your screen protector has any crap under it near the status bar cuz the desire has a form of crappy multitouch
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

As stated before, you should check if something disrupts the display. Happened to me once when my phone was on the bed and I wanted to press anything on the screen, the notification bar would open. Turned out to be my glasses which partly covered the display at the top
This question should have been posted in the Q&A section, however.

Almost every single one of your comments is you ranting and bringing others down. Seriously, cut it out. This forum is here to help people and not to make them feel bad or inferior. Even if the question was posted in the wrong forum, doesn't mean you have the right to treat others like that.
Just because they're new it doesn't give them right to spam dev section. They simply lack brain, otherwise I can't explain how is possible to post question here instead of Q&A.

And just because they're new doesn't give YOU the right to bring them down. Remember, you were new once, too. And I'm sure you didn't know as much as you do now when you first joined. That's why people join forums like this, because they wanna learn.
Sure, they should stick to the rules, but there is no need to become agressive about this.

I think it was enough time since 2008 to read the rules and know where to post and what.
BTW, OP, what ROM you are using? Or just Stock?

True, I was new. But I was able to read and to comprehend written text.
This has nothing to do with being new; users that can't read and understand description of each section, are illiterate. That's not me bringing them down, that's a fact.

Otter Box case

Anyone have this case yet the otter box can't post the link cause i'm a newb still:S
Between this and case mate tough which is better?
Is there any crippling reason you are unable to post in the existing otterbox thread and need to open a new thread?
My apologizes I don't see why you have to get upset not like you are a mod...
When I did a search I included a space and got the no search results message. Also when posting it didn't show any similar topics again most likely because I put a space just don't get mad over this it isn't worth the ulcer

'cause it is on the very first page of the forum? I'm not upset but I am just wondering how you can miss a thread on the top half of this forum.

Can a mod lock/delete this thread?Thanks!

[Request][Poll] Down vote to hide or delete usless posts on a topic

There is something really common on xda that make it annoying to read topics and create huge topics with tons or pages, it's the members useless posts.
Usually a dev post a new hack/rom/kernel etc...
And some member post to say thanks instead of using the thanks button
Others complain about something not working even if the OP said it wouldn't work
And then you have the members that answer to the one complaining that he has to learn to read but instead of having one member saying this there is always like 5 members doing it
So I'm requesting a down vote or something similar that would hide or delete the usless posts in a thread to make it smaller and easier to read and could help lighten the xda database
Thanks!
(just kidding)
This needs to be seriously considered by the mods - will make life better for all of us.
would be nice if goes to happen
that is a great idea.
i guess we can say thanks here
Not exactly what you are looking for, but we added an easy way to obscure posts by folk on your ignore list. So, if there are one or two posters in a thread that are generating lots of useless posts in your view, click their name and choose to add them to your ignore list.
The ability to minimize or in other ways hide post with less information (e.g. post of people saying thanks, or posts with questions which has been answered) is very useful, especially for threads with high activity, such as the cyanogen thread and ICS sdk thread in i9000.

That's a really nice idea! The down voted posts does not have to be deleted but the users can choose if they would see them.

Ignoring an user for some posts will make us miss all the good ones he might post and having to ignore half of the posters on a topic doesn't seems to be the best
While having the possibility to vote to hide/delete would be better
Could we have a straight answer ?!
0 no, maybe it will happen...
Mods do something
This needs to happen. It would make XDA a way better place. Everyone needs to put a link to this thread in their sig like I did....we need more attention in this thread so that this idea gets pushed to the top of the list.

I'm 50/50 about the idea. I can see the benefit, but I can also see it being abused. Either way, your enthusiasm doesn't change the fact that no-one has posted here for over 3 months. I'm guessing that there's not too much interest in it.

The admins are aware of the request.
Whether 1 or 1000000 people request it makes no difference. If it's doable and beneficial then it may well happen....
Sit tight....

Jee, I sure would give it more than a few hours before making a comment like that. I am just one person trying to bring recognition to an awesome feature request that seems to have been buried and lost.
If you have something to add besides your negativity, feel free.

I appreciate the response. I figured there was no harm in making this feature request more visible to the community, but you have pointed out that this does not matter. Apologies. I'll keep my fingers crossed for this feature to be implemented in the future.

Did you read my post in an angry voice or something? I meant no disrespect - I was just giving my opinion and then saying it didn't look like a popular idea.
maybe add option to mark topic as bloated
and the user or the modder will hide/vote those bloated posts

Report huge signatures here

Sometimes you see these humongous signatures which fills up your screen and makes you have to scroll down to read the next post. This is not only annoying, but also wastes your bandwidth sometimes as they have multiple number of images.I made this thread to provide an easy way for all of you to report them.
I hope this thread will gain official recognition by xda and will help reduce the number of humongous sigs that we see nowadays
P.S.Thread was a.cid's idea,I just made it.
You mean like that one? ^^^^^^^^^

Couldn't have seen that one coming
I think it would probably be more appropriate to click on the report button when encountering such a signature. You could set examples by posting your sig code here: Share Your Sig Code Please
You could also encourage people to use [floatleft] [/floatleft] and [floatright] [/floatright] in their sigs to compress them a bit by better utilizing the width of the screen instead of 'stacking' signature elements.

There's no reason this thread wouldn't be allowed to be here, right?
Obviously the only downside would be incase a mentioned user notices it and doesn't like it, but it's the same with the spam users thread.
Just my 2 cents xD
On-topic - I generally won't notice many with huge sigs due to mainly using the app, but I'll try my best to remember this thread when relevant

Not up to me as it isn't my forum.
I know what you mean though, less people using the website now and more using the app.
While I like the sentiments behind this thread, perhaps rather than a 'name and shame' style list (at this stage), just reporting those users with massive, oversized, ridiculous signatures would be best :highfive:
That way we can action them quickly and directly :good:

[CLOSED]Turn off take screenshot

Have an S9 and it's as annoying as any other black mirror phone.
I want to turn off the annoying take screenshot buttons. Because near every time I turn the screen off or close my phone cover over, the ****er takes a screenshot. I don't even know why you would want to take a screenshot on a phone but hey ho there you go, you can do it easily especially when you don't want to.
It's also ****ing ridiculous that I had to make a account on an obscure website just in the hopes of finding a solution.
Take me back to a time before every phone was a dumb-as-**** 'smart' phone black mirror.
I also want to point out that the website incorporated the asterix, not me. I have my pride.
Bump.
Chin up hun, not all is lost, check if you're case is hitting the volume down button.

I quit using the case babes. Just couldn't anymore. Literally just could not. I want to turn it off though, get that bugger away and out of my sight for good, washed right outta my hair if you will. Don't want Mr. Here Take A Random Screenshot at my window, ya dig sugar?
Glad you quit using the case sweetheart.
Is this forum dead?

Thanks mod
Let's keep things on topic, after all that's why the mod deleted it right?
Did you ever fix you're screenshot issue?
@BigRoySmile Your thread is closed since it went off topic many times, even though other users were trying to keep it civil and on topic.
I deleted your messages including swear words. You can express your anger in a more polite, less aggressive way.
