Thanks Frank!
The PDF explains everything a lot more clearer than the official PR does. At first I thought "$80 for 6GB shared for everything is awesome" then I saw the added cost per device.
So when does this take place? Sorry if I missed it on that PDF... My upgrade is 6/30

If you were to call up they'd let you upgrade early, it's only 18 days away.
Bye Verizon.... I'll be counting the days to my upgrade/departure.

Same here. I'm done with Verizon's bull****. I'm going to Sprint (maybe AT&T if they don't raise their prices due to the failed T-Mobile merger). Once my contract is done, bye bye Verizon, hello Sprint. Hopefully Sprint doesn't screw up their prices as well in the future.
This is very dissapointing to me....sad really. Unfortunately in my area vzw is the only carrier that is reliable. Sprint is total garbage here and att isn't much better. My discount will help a LOL with this. However I'm still on my agent line for some reason ( left the company over 6 months ago lol) so at this moment it doesn't effect me much. But now I might as well get my gf a smartphone for the $10 difference. I think everyona wanted share plans on vzw....but I was hoping for something like sprint does. $150 a month for two smps. These New plans are obviously more than that. But alas....in this area...u get what you pay for.

You should check out my conversation on Twitter with vzwsupport lol.... You don't have to change your plan and lose unlimited data..... "If you pay full retail price for your new phone" lol. I won't put my question in reply to that on here.... Mr highway and juzz might not like it

I actually updated few months ago for inc 2. Dropped in water and didnr have the 100$ for new inc2 through insurance. Wirefly had a special where I upgraded through them I could upgrade again to a razr maxx for 29.99$ only phone I could get. My inc2 still works. Just volume rocker is messed up and don't wanna charge without messing with port. I got to keep my unlimited data they said lucky I could upgrade again before they change to shared plans.

So if I buy a 4g phone by the 28th under 2 yr pricing with renewal of my contract- will I be able to use as much data as I can now and keep my current plan the same? Any caveats?

Yes.that's correct. That's my problem lol. People have downgraded and rooted but ran into a lot of problems. I guess since mine isvrooted and 98% functioning ill just use it also, it.didnt get battery wet the water mark on battery is fine but the one on phone is half red and half spotted, od barley got wet. Went in bout half inch of water. Just enough through, the razr was only phone that has a promotion on it where it made it 29.99$ really has no choice. My inc2 wouldn't even boot up. It would go to hboot screen and.than keep going down through.the.list real fast where the.voulme rocker is fried. I finally got it by holding vol up and.power and.it.booted in safe mode.
Why does everyone have Verizon? I love it's service and data speeds. It's worth the price in my book. I just wish they upgraded there phones software more often.

The GSIII looks good but I'm stuck on HTC and god only knows when the inc4g will be out. Ugh kinda looks like I'm going with sprint or at&t cause I really want either the EVO 4G LTE or the one x. Decisions decisions

Oh No MetalHead! What Happened???
He must support SOPA, frivolous patent lawsuits, be against big corporations, afraid of change, andjust enough freedom to change your wallpaper. And I agree with Oscar about att, they have the worst customer service I have ever dealt with EVER!
Anyways usually people who have used android and got stuck with an iPhone are desperate to come back within a few weeks.
I could never imagine going from 4.52 screen to 3.5 screen .

based on my past, you think id be here to bash you for switching to iphone. im not going to. youre an adult, you understand your choice.
question is, Sprint sells the iPhone and wont cap your data. why leave for theirs? no upgrade availability?
I won't comment IPhone part but AT&T as carrier is horrible. After 7 years of service I paid termination fees for 3 lines (only 4 months after accepting last 2 year term) because of their horrible customer services (t-mobile cs is not far away from them). Not to mention your 2GB data limit on AT&T, and increased termination fees....
If AT&T somehow manage to become only wireless carrier I will move to PAYPHONE, but won't go there... but that just me. Good luck! Sorry if my post wasn't on place...

I went with AT&T because Sprint's data speeds have gotten worse and worse. There's no point in having unlimited data if you can't even use it. I could leave my E4GT downloading something at full speed for a month and not even hit the 5GB cap that I have with AT&T now. I have been averaging 100-150 kb/s which is absolutely ridiculous. AT&T's HSPA+ gets me anywhere from 5-6 mb/s on average and that's faster than I was getting with Sprint's 4G, when I was able to actually lock on to a signal. There was seriously no point in having such a bad ass phone if I couldn't even use data on it. I also tried Verizon and the Galaxy Nexus a month or so ago and was not happy with their service, and couldn't justify leaving the E4GT for a device that was for all intents and purposes, inferior. So that left me with T-Mobile and AT&T, and T-Mobile's phone selection sucks.
Now for the why I got the iPhone. My intentions originally were to grab the SGS2. I knew for a fact that I was going to love it, so I wanted to take advantage of the 30 day buyer's remorse period and try something different for a few weeks, return whatever I got and then pick up the SGS2. It was between the iPhone and the Titan. I opted for the iPhone because I have an iPad 2 and already have a ton of universal games that I can download right away to the iPhone. The screen is tiny on it, but the more I use it the more comfortable it is. I don't have to do any type of finger acrobatics to reach the farthest corners of the screen. So yeah it's tiny but there is a plus to that. And the retina display is lovely (black levels suck but it's a fair trade off). So after having the iPhone for a couple weeks I really started to fall in love with its simplicity. It really is a beautifully made device, and iOS does feel very elegant to me. I swear to god my intentions were to return it but I love it now, what can I say. What's crazy is that I really thought I was going to hate it (and I did for the first couple of days).
So now, I have decided that I would stick with the iPhone over the SGS2- I already had an SGS2 variant and I am digging the change. So my other option now is the Note and man that thing is slick. But it has a strike against it already- Snapdragon. Not a real Galaxy device in my eyes. Whatever though, the Adreno 220 is a sick GPU so I'll let it slide. So I go to Best Buy the other day and they have a dummy Note on display. It's f*cking MASSIVE. No way in hell would I be caught dead holding that thing against my face. It quite literally makes the E4GT look like an iPhone size wise. Seriously, hold an iPhone up to an E4GT and that is roughly the same size difference between the E4GT and the Note. It is way to big to be practical for me so it is ruled out.
So now I have decided to keep my iPhone. I have looked into jailbreaking and all the available mods and there are tons. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun modding this thing, and you would be surprised how many ways you can customize it. Dare I say it, but it does seem you (the average modder) can do more with a jailbroken iPhone than an Android phone, and I haven't even scratched the surface of it. I still love Android, of course, and I do miss a lot of things about it terribly, but I am enjoying my time with my new iPhone.
One of the perks of AT&T over Sprint is this whole sim card business. I already started searching craigslist for a good deal on an SGS2 so I can have both devices and switch 'em around depending on my mood for the day. I most definitely will get another Android phone, there is no question about it.
So that's my story. I haven't switched alliances, I am still an Android fan first, I am just having an affair with the iPhone
metalhead, as it so happens, i received my epic 4g touch today and i'm coming from at&t. the reason i'm leaving at&t is because i'm on unlimited data plan and they're sending us (customers with unlimited data) texts and emails saying that we're in the top 5% of data users and that if we continue, our speed will be throttled. (last month i used close to 2gb of data and they still sent me the text.) this throttle will only be for unlimited plan customers, not for tiered customers (so you wouldn't be affected by throttling). but if they treat me like that, who has been with them since 1999, i can only imagine how bad they'd treat new customers. i'm sure they'll find a way to screw you guys too...
p.s. i have a family plan with 5 phones total and that doesn't matter to them.

I have to agree with you on the sprint data. Not enough to make me go to an iphone but I'm finding it harder and harder to justify paying for a useless unlimited plan. I live in an area where the fastest 3g speeds I've seen are 100kbps so I have to use the prl hack to get a whopping 600kbps. On top of that, the only 4g service around me works for about a one mile radius around best buy so they can show off how fast the network is. Other than that the closest 4g is about two hours away. but I still get charged an extra $20 a month for two phones for "premium data".
Lol @ iPhone.

Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy S II
Hey Everyone... Originally when I got my GNEX, I could have sworn that when I tried to unlock/root it, it had been easier than a lot of the instructions, but I didn't think too much about it at the time. (I got it directly from a VZW wireless store) I think at this point, it was already unlocked. Now that I've changed phones, I wanted to prep this one for selling, and I was trying to follow instructions on how to reset/relock the phone, but it doesn't seem to let me lock it with the fastboot oem lock commands... but if this is an engineering build, should I even bother? Or can I sell it as is and just state factory unlocked?
Here is an image of my "About Phone" after flashing back the google images that I downloaded from here: https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/mysid-icl53f-factory-65895fa8.tgz

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask, but I tried -looking- for a factory unlocked CDMA version to judge it against, and can't even seem to find any, am I just missing something? Are people selling them somewhere else?
You won't find a "Factory Unlocked" model, AFAIK they don't make them. What you have is somewhat unique, although not that useful since it's a Nexus device. If you want more info on what exactly you have this thread has a decent overview if you read the first 2 pages: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1461386 Bottom line, your fine to sell it as is.
To the right person you will get more just because it is an engineering model! If I were you I would bank on that!!

I personally am the type of person you want to sell this to. I buy tons of stuff for hundreds more just because I collect tech.
***Speaking of which, if anyone knows someone that owns an original 20gb PS3 I am looking to spend $400 or more depending on condition. Been looking for 3 years. Also looking for a copy of Super Metroid for SNES, I`ll pay $60 with out box, $100 in box***
Anyways yeah, if I didn`t already own a Galaxy Nexus and was not in the process of looking for a Galaxy S2 White (perferably from France to use here in Canada) I`d pay around $800 easy.

No I don't sorry.
Only reason I threw out the $800 number is because, really its not that much more you'd pay buying a "normal" phone really.
I still remember paying something like $700 after tax for the Xperia x10 (ouch bad device) and another $700 for the Xperia Arc (Better device but still too much IMO)
$800 is not that big of a jump, and you are getting something truly unique.
***On a side note: I bought the Xperia x10 and my wife's first iphone, the white 3GS the same day...I think the total was like $1400. Imagine my surprise learning my brand new "latest tech" android didn't support multitouch....mmm still feel that burn! Oh well I guess 2 finger touch ended up being supported later, but by then I was on the Samsung Captivate. Loved the Captivate!***

Used daily for about 3 weeks daily, with a screen protector installed @ verizon when I bought it. Somehow it still managed to get a tiny line in it near the front camera in the upper right... you have to have the light hit it just right to see it, I tried getting it in the pictures here but could not. I took the screen protector off now to show how clean the real screen is, there's some dust on it though.
The pictures came out a bit too big that I'd want to post here, you can see them here:

http://www.gforgames.com/gadgets/ht...ice-cream-sandwich-works-android-4-ics-28378/
The story behind the HTC Droid Incredible 2 and its Ice Cream Sandwich update that never came is quite long and full of pushbacks and angry letters. In case you’ve followed us during the past few months, you should already be aware of how things unfolded thus far. In a nutshell, the Incredible 2 was supposed to receive the Android 4.0 update, alongside the HTC Thunderbolt, by the end of August. That obviously didn’t happen and the roll-out has been pushed back indefinitely.
Better Link (Not sure how I missed this on the DL)
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/11/2...ible-2-owners-waiting-for-ice-cream-sandwich/
So you could say our ice cream is still being "churned"? Or is it still being agitated?
I like how the article says they are having connectivity problems with the update. Don't they read this forum? We had the same issue with the leak...but all of the other ROMS work. Why can't they figure out what the Devs did here and incorporate it...?
I do hate to be a Negative-Nancy, but I call B.S.
It's like the cheating BF/GF. Lies don't stop. It is a habit of misleading. Key word is habit.
This subject is a very sore one for me. I think ALL Android should be open source. I thought that was the point, and what made Android better than the rest.
What it comes down to is, I will believe it when I see it.
Though this did rile me up again enough that I will be writing to HTC again. Probably at least, but not only on their Facebook page.
As always, I encourage you to do the same. Squeeky wheel gets the grease, y'know.
I do think it's worth it to prod HTC - not in a malicious way, but nicely so they know we're waiting.
I also think it's worth waiting for them to finish the job.

Agreed... Besides, the news is better than a definitive " HTC Scraps ICS Update" response...
Sounds like tomorrow is sooner than it was in the past.

Nice? Really? Nice should have been out the window the moment they passed their already ridiculously late deadline. ICS came out over a year ago and those clowns are still "working on it"? HTC clearly doesn't care about their customers so I don't see how politely asking them to do something is going to amount to anything I am glad they're experiencing record losses I'll never buy another one of their products. It's easier to pass the buck than it is to actually care about your customers and put in some work this update will never be released because neither party really cares.
ICS
I think that as soon as the "connectivity issues" (WiFi Tether Lockdown) are finally coded in we will see ICS for the DInc II.
That's what we got with the Spectrum.
It's more for the grandfathered unlimited customers, motivation to switch to the "Gimi What You Got", VomitRizen shakedown.
Ever since the "Paid Off" FCC allowed these cheeswads to fleece the public with tiered data plans they are chocking us on it...
It is probably a better deal for those who yak for hours and text up the **s.
But for me, the $60.00 a month increase for my 5 family members to have emergency communication, is just plain cruel.
As much as it hurts, I will have to kick out the lines one at a time.
Thanks Big Reda.
"We don't have any timing specifics right now, Chris. We'll let you know once we learn more!", was the response I got from an inquiry on their FB page.
Same thing they've been saying since the end of August.
And if phone companies (HTC, Samsung, lg, etc) would stop releasing a new phone every 3 months when most people are on 2 year contracts and update the phones that people still use we wouldn't be hear. The galaxy note 2 is already out and it feels like the note 1 JUST came out. That's a bit ridiculous in my opinion lol. My friend had his og droid only 2 years ago..and think of all the android phones since then.

That's how profit is made tho. Releasing a newer phone to get people to jump to the latest and greatest so that's why they tue them down to a 2 year because slot of people just wanna be on the greatest I know a lot switching from the s3 to dna or note 2 its all based on making money

Sounds good in theory to only release a new phone every 2 years but not everyone's contracts begin and end at the same time. Also like the post above me mentioned some people are willing to shell out for the latest and greatest, and others might just have monthly plans.
ETF and grandfathered unlimited is enough for me to stick with my phone for a while though

apple manages to do it. they might not wait 2 years for every phone but they literally only have the One line of phones and keep them all updated, and still make a ton of money. >.> albeit i'm not an apple fan at all. just stating the obvious here.
This is why I'm not going for an HTC phone ever again. This is obviously a publicity stunt pulled off only by HTC.

Waiting for an official ICS (and JB) upgrade is even more necessary in India. We are all using grey imports. Furthermore, for AlphaRevX or Revolutionary based roots (as most of us have), going back to Froyo and unrooting before doing a bootloader unlock, and then climbing back up to the CMs is not at all attractive.
The wife needs a new phone and since we have an upgrade available I was thinking of giving her my Gnex and getting myself a new phone.
Naturally I first though GS4 but Im starting to wonder. Is that an upgrade, downgrade or lateral move? I realize its newer hardware, but the Gnex seems to have a good development base behind it....not sure about the GS4 (havent really checked).
Or should I just try to find a decent used Gnex for the wife too? I love mine, the fact its so stable on just about any ROM is what makes me feel comfortable enough to give it to her. I know she wont ever have any issues with it (her current Stratosphere is a total POS!)
Thanks.

S4 is a gigantic upgrade. Do not even think for a second a GNex is going to match it in performance.
S4 development is just fine. Just take a look at the section... There are (what appear to be) very stable builds of both CM & PA (among others).
Thanks! Thats what i was thinking.
Our current contract is completely done in January. The wife says she can deal with her phone until then if she has to, but all thats going to do is make it harder to figure out what new phone since there will (presumably) be a lot more options.
Someone suggested going to Tmobile but Im not exactly thrilled with their network around here. I hate my VZW bill being so high, but I feel like "there is no other" since the service is usually excellent and even when its not excellent its at least still working.

A new nexus will probably come out within the next 5 months, the S4 is a HUGE up.date from the GNEX.
I'd suggest the S4 if you need a new phone now or something but also the Motorola X might be out by the end of the year.
The GNEX is "OK", especially being released 1.5 years ago. Most newer phones are upgrades anyways. Decisions decisions huh...
I'm trying to hold out for the Note 3, myself. But the S4 is mighty tempting...
I am really eyeballing the HTC One ever since I found out you can flash it and convert it into an official Google Edition phone.
Edit, I just saw several ads about the Motorola X phone. Might get that instead.

Never been a fan of Motorola.
The HTC one seems nice..... Friend of mine just dumped vzw and got the One on t-mo. I hate the internal only battery and am partial to anything Samsung just because of the open ness of their phones.
Tough decision. Worried waiting will make it even tougher

I keep asking myself this very same question. What phone should I get next?
I'm utterly unimpressed with the nexus 4.. The white version was tempting, but its gone now from the play store.
Guess I'll stick with the gnex till it self destructs.

Get the S2 I'm still rocking it.... Lol

For Verizon, the S4 is your best option, but if you go to T-Mobile the nexus 4 is a great option and by then the next nexus should have come out

Galaxy S4 is a very good phone, so is the htc one. If you're looking to spend a little less, then the note 2 is also an excellent device
was thinking of going note 2 when i move on from my gNex...
a part of me wants to hold off for the nexus 5 but its become so hard
I got a good deal for a S4 so that's where I went.
Overall, the S4 is a MAJOR upgrade compared to the galaxy nexus. The speed, Camera, LTE, battery life and the screen are all benefits of the S4.
Now that I have a card slot on my phone again I forgot how much I missed out on this feature with the Galaxy Nexus.
Regarding development, considering the S4 is not a nexus device, development is actually really good and will only get better as more people buy the S4. Sure, a nexus will have more development but the S4 has more than enough to satisfy you.
Consistently hitting 5 hours of screen on time and not worrying about chargers through out the day is awesome as well.

hehe, theres always one!
I had another suggestion to go to T-mo, so for the heck of it I broke down what I would be paying.
Id need 2 lines, so a family package. Unlimited everything on both lines is 120/month. Plus the 20/month for each phone Id need to buy, looking at 160 per month before fees. Thats actually more than I pay on VZW, granted only one of my VZW lines has unlimited data (not sure if that will go away when/if I upgrade the phone).
I realize the 20/month for each phone goes away after 2 years on Tmo, but essentially its a 2 year contract. Im also not positive of the speeds I can get from them in my area....Open Signal shows it as a decent network but the average download is 4MB compared to almost 7 for VZW, so Im guessing its not 4G/LTE (yet)
EDIT: reading about the current state of unlimited data on Verizon, the line I have unlimited on is "month to month", can I swap a phone (not one I paid retail for) onto that line without losing unlimited?
There speed are decent near me. The only way id get an iPhone is if Google music was available on iOS.

The S4 would be fine as long as you don't grab the i9500 "octa core" variant. Though, I hate touchwiz a lot.
I actually listen to music in phone speakers quite a bit, I would go for the HTC One instead of the S4. Moto X looks good if you are in the US. Hope they bring the new moto X outside of the US too.
The S4 Active looks awesome, but until it comes to Verizon I'll probably get the S4 or the next unlocked phone that's available on VZW.

I think I'm going to get the g2 on black Friday for 99 for me and my wife. It's between that and the s4. I wish the g2 had an SD slot but that's not really a deal breaker. What do you think is the better of the 2?
If you have one please let me know any bugs or issues it has that may make me change my mind.
Thank you all for your help!
I currently have the s4. I think I would go with the lg due to the software buttons and faster processor

Step son and his GF just picked up one each 2 days ago. Nice devices.
They went to Best Buy, bought 2 disposable phones, Best Buy bought them back with 50$ gift cards for each one that they turned around and applied to the purchase. Pretty good deal imo.
:edit: I should have said, bought 2, 10 dollar disposables.

I think I saw a post somewhere stating that you can upgrade through amazon.com for like 50 right now. I didn't check it out since I have the phone already but worth a look I would think.
As for the phone itself, I am in love with it. Even just stock rooted the phone is rock solid. The development is just starting up for the sprint model, so I am sure there is a great future ahead as long as we can keep good devs.

The buyback program ended Sunday. They would have bought the E4GT, but the screen is cracked. If the screen was not cracked and they did buy it it was going to be next to nothing for it.
Also, it seems everyone is making the holiday specials "not so special". Keep an eye on new phone pricing, I noticed a lot of advertised pricing for new client and $50-$100 more on upgrade pricing. It use to not make a difference so much in the past. Now the upgrade deals are not as good as a new account deal.

I have no problems with lte myself. It connects just fine and stays connected. It's always odd how different each phone can be.
Nope, I suspect all LG 2 to behave like that.
Driving about, the LG 2 will drop your connection (push you to 3g) much more than the nexus 5.
The last time I checked they had not found a way to enable two bands which I believe improves signal on LTE.

Just wanted to throw it out there that there's more options no biggie. I would also throw in that the camera on the G2 is not so great and is plagued with similar problems as the LG Optimus G was/is. Struggles to focus on low light conditions. On daylight it takes great photos tho. Many frustrated owners on the G2 forums so I would take that into consideration if you use your phones camera a lot. Might apply to the Nexus 5 too as it was built by LG..
