I know restoring data from system apps with TB will cause problems but is it ok to restore data from all my none system apps with TB. If so how do i do it without accidentally restoring system data? I have data i would like to restore like shazam or Mr. Number so if anyone can help it would be great. I posted this question in the CM9 thread but no one was able to give a answer

Probably because its simple. Do you know how to use TB at all? There is a button that says restore next to your app but just keep in mind you had to of backed it up at one time.
I mean seriously did you click backup restore option at the top then click the app and see options to restore or backup. OK one last thing why not just go to TB web page for help or better yet Google...smdh

Hey jerk off if wasn't here to help than why bother replying? Don't you think for a senior member trolling wouldn't be a option for you but i guess it is.

i gave you the answer in the cm9 thread. you even quoted it.
people like him and i give the responses we give to get people like you to think about the scenario a bit and to use your head so that you're not reliant on someone else answering a question that you wouldn't have to ask had you took the initiative play with the app for 3 minutes to figure it out yourself.
if you used TB, then you would see the "restore missing apps with data" and the "restore all system data" options. it's pretty clear what the correct option would be for your case. since the first one doesn't say "system", but the second one does explicitly says "system", then it's quite obvious that the option to go with is the one that doesn't say "system". when you choose the "restore missing apps with data" option, it lists all non-system apps. from there, it comes down to hand-eye coordination and an IQ higher than 30 to not click on a non-system app or to click on only certain apps that you want restored. all you have to do is play around with the app a little bit to figure it out.

So I enabled this on CM6 not too long ago, I recently wiped and updated to the latest version of it, and low and behold all my applications started getting installed from the Market on their own... How does this work, and is my data going to be there as well?
I do not believe it restores data

It only restore the Market-downloadable applications. Your data (unless on an SD card) will not be restored.
Yea, no data was restored... kinda crappy... oh well, better than nothing.

TI Backup is much better and much more versatile. Worth the money.
You just sparked my interest. What are you talking about? I've googled it but haven't found anything yet. Searched in market too.

Titanium Backup:
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
HOWEVER, must have root.
MUST.
Your adventure may just be beginning.
What Google Backup are you talking about?
Oh. If that's what you're talking about then I'll pass.
Google backup restores wifi profiles too.
But I love titanium and did purchase the full version.
Swyped on my EVO
I use Titanium Backup because it backs up my settings, apps, data, preferences, WiFi networks, Bluetooth pairings, Cyanogenmod Settings, etc.
Really, all I do after a wipe is to skip to the home screen, open market, add my Google Account, download Titanium Backup, and go to Menu>Batch>Restore everything
It's a Google backup feature...enabled in cm roms only...it's actually quite nice if you are flashing roms everyday
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Is there anyway to get rid of the backup feature, it's pretty pointless without data and I'd rather restore my apps with Titanium...
I just wiped and reflashed and when it asked if I wanted to use Google backup, I unchecked the box, but it started downloading everything anyway...
Nevermind, I found it...
So as far as I understand it, this is part of the ASOP. So way did htc/sprint take it out?

Any body able to get an apk, to enable this on non cm roms?

Titanium is awesome and worth every penny for the paid version if you switch roms frequently. If you don't mind a little extra button mashing the free version works well.
It saves data and the version of the app your backing up. Which is really useful if you don't want the updated version of any particular app.
any idea why some ROMS automatically restore your previously downloaded apps after flashing and some don't? I also could be seeing things, but I thought some actually redownload the apps on their own and others show you the apps and give you the option to redownload them.
Just wondering if anyone could explain that to me...
Thanks,
Ken
Some roms use google backup and some dont. Better suited in th q&a forum instead of here though

stupid question but i want to swith from 1 rom to another and when i did it before i lost all my apps and eveything . how do i save all this stuff and get it to come back when i reload a new rom. ?
I prefer MyBackup Pro while others like Titanium. It is generally not good practice to load anything but apps when restoring data to a different rom. If its ACS to ACS then restoring the data along with the app is fine but if you're going from ACS to say Bonsai just load the app but no data. Its not the end of the world if you do but it may lead to some instabilities. If you need the data then go ahead but try to limit it. Do not backup/restore system data however.
Post in the right section....
Moved to Q&A.
First off, this is in the wrong section. You are not developing an app that backups apps and data, next time post this in Q&A to avoid negative attention (the guys around here will be offering it up lol).
Secondly, restoring "System Data" and "App Data" are very different. App Data is very safe to restore. Just be careful when moving from Android versions. My wife lost all of her app data when she went to Gingerbread, restored all of her apps she backed up from Froyo and got a ton of FC's so she had to downgrade back over to Froyo.
The important part of using Titanium Backup is to filter out system data so you only back up apps you have installed and the data it has written (for instance the Angry Birds App and all the levels and points etc).
here is a link to a walk through that covers the ins and outs of this app

Besides Titanium, your apps should reappear for download I the market under myapps (in theory anyway) after your google account fully syncs. You can also back up your system apps with sdx app removal tool.

I use Titanium Backup all the time. But one thing I have not yet figured out is this.
I flash a new ROM.
Go to Play Store and download Titanium Backup & License.
I restore all my apps (including Titanium).
But none of the settings I've set up for Titanium Backup are restored?
I have to go through the menu and re-do all my preferences, etc. for TB.
What am I doing wrong?
Its the first option under the preferences menu.

confirmed this does nothing, hit the option, played around on thunderbird opening and closing, even killing, no such backup file is ever created. I wipe and load up a new titanium app, use the setting, but nothing happens.
so this def does not work, does anyone know of a way that does work, maybe this time with instructions on where to find this ghost settings file?
thanks!

Yeah it's been working great for me also.
Are you using the free or paid version of TB? I have the paid version and maybe that is a requirement.
Hello.
I have posted this in the forums at Android Central and only got one response. I've had my phone since Feb of this year. Since 11/2 there is major lag. No issues on 11/1. Taps on the home screen are continuously being read as long presses. My lock screen is really laggy, as are home screens and most apps. Bad piggies for whatever reason is working just fine. Most other apps including the keyboard are very laggy. It just seems to be very slow to respond to touch all of a sudden. My phone is rooted stock GB. At AC, I was told an app was hogging RAM. I downloaded Memory Useage from the google play store but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I'm still getting that lady after killing and uninstalling apps. The lag is still there with the native launcher so I really don't think it has anything to do with GO Launcher. I used TiB to revert GOL back to the previous version. I also uninstalled GOLocker as well. I've done a soft reset but it didn't help.
Is there a way to see my Play update history so I can see which apps installed that night? I've always had the occasional lag but it wasn't ever really a big deal. This is greatly interfering with my use of the phone. I am lucky to type a word before the keyboard disappears. Low resources makes sense but I just can't figure out what app is hogging them.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of resting back to unrooted GB to upgrade to stock ICS.
The first app in the my apps list is the most recent one. So start uninstalling from the top.. Now if you had installed an app say 2 months ago, uninstalled it a month ago and then reinstalled it today then it won't show at the top of the list. It will be still at that same spot where it was 2 months ago. So keep in mind if you reinstalled some app.
Also you should uninstall apps from applications in settings so you can clear cache and data for that app. Or you restart after each uninstall.

Thanks but my only options are Sort by Size and Sort Alphabetically. Are you talking about the applications list in Settings? Or is there a better place to uninstall? I know I can go into TiB as well.

This is so frustrating. In the Play Store App, my "Installed" list is alphabetical and the "All" list is listed by install order with the most recent at the top regardless of timestamp of update. I cannot see any option for changing the order. Should I just go by the TiB list? It is showing the apps in order of update and lets me clear cache and uninstall the apps.

Now I have removed all apps updated on 11/2 or overnight from the evening of 11/1. The only one I can't touch is Kies. I have frozen it with TiB but I'm still getting the super heavy lag. What can I do next? Do I need to just reset the whole device now and start from scratch?
This is really frustrating. I love my phone and haven't had it long enough to switch to something else. Are there any tests that I can perform to check on the screen itself?
I have also installed OS Monitor and the top apps using up the CPU are OS Monitor, SYstem, Google Play Movies & TV, Android System, gzip. THe % used varies from 0% up to 26% they may last only a second or two. Is there something wrong with my phone? I feel like I've exhausted finding a resource hog.
If you have a custom recovery installed then do a nandroid backup and flash a fresh install of something to test it. If its not broke in the test then you can restore tour backup and continue to troubleshoot. Honestly though its easy enough to just start fresh. I do it every few days/weeks on a new rom.
Heck at this point flash something ICS or even JB. I can't think of a reason to ever use a GB rom again.

Do you have a JB recommendation? I haven't created a nandroid backup because the only one I am aware of with with CWM and I have been told more than once that it isn't reliable on the E4GT so I just completed removed it from my phone. Are there any other methods for getting a nandroid backup?

Paranoid android 2.50. You can make a nandroid backup from el26 kernel with cwm of an pics rom.

I'm currently using codename, great rom. I've only used my nandroid backups several times but they do work. Always just made my backup in whatever custom recovery I was using at the time. Can't remember what recovery I used on GB. Its been a while. Edit just use the el26 blues mentioned above
When switching between ROMs or experimenting I use SMS backup and restore and call log backup and restore from market. Its nice to have those old texts and call logs sometimes.
I use SMS Backup cuz I want to save my texts but I don't know if I need to save my call log.
Thanks for the recommendation. Paranoid Android looks pretty cool.
My external SD card is safe right? Does it need to be backed up as well?

Custom roms typically require manual updates. Very few update automatically and i have never tried paranoid.
