Hi, yesterday when i plugged my phone(R800at) to the PC, PC companion told me that there was an update for my phone (in that moment i had the 3.0.1.B.0.270 version in my phone, 2.3.3), so i thought that probalby was the 2.3.4 update for the r800at, after updating i search for the android version of my phone and it's 2.3.3 again but the build number is 3.0.1.B.0.285, so someone know the changes between the two versions??
Ty.
Same here i can't figure out what the difference is... Are you on AT&T also?
If you look at my r800at root questions post I lost root when I upgraded to .285 other then that I cant tell a difference.
So there isnt a way to update to 2.3.4?

Flash nordic generic rom.
I haven't noticed the changes either other than not being able to root.
Yes the only way to root now its to flash your device to another firmware, i used the r800a 2.3.4 and use the Doomlord zergrush to root it, and i happy with the change, i need test if the data speed change because now the phone only shows a H and not an H+.
One big difference for me is that this firmware seems to have solved a problem with my Xperia Play that's made it unusable as a phone for the past 2 months or so...about 1/2 the calls I make or receive, I could hear the caller, but they couldn't hear me. I tried switching to the North American generic firmware and that didn't solve the problem, but I saw this firmware yesterday and decided to give it a shot. I've been making calls all day long without any trouble. I wish I knew what they changed that fixed it. I miss 2.3.4...maybe the Nordic generic is worth trying?
I asked Sony about a changelog and was told there is no official changelog.....guess we are left to try out for ourselves.

AT, A, and I, have no hardware differences.
You can install any rom/kernel for any of them into your phone.
Id suggest first getting off 2.3.3, You wont be sorry.
You can flash the stock 2.3.4 r800i.

With Nordic Generic, were you able to get the H+? Have you tried North America Generic?
Actually, 4G is the only reason I'm still in 2.3.3.
It just showed H but the speeds were about the same. Which firmware are you referring to when you say north American generic?

Right but which build? far as I saw the .42 build was the generic nordic one....didn't see any specific north american generic.
I think this is probably the one he's referring to...this is the version I tried when I was having trouble with phone calls on AT&T's original stock build as well.

One thing I noticed is under about phone and software update. There is now a Network choice to download the phone updates over Wifi only or Wifi and mobile networks.
Before I could only do update via Mobile Network. I haven't had a chance to see what else is changed. Its a bummer it is not 2.3.4 though. This update was shown as certified in Dec of 2011. Took them long enough to push it out. I see no mention of any other certifications on the certification site that I saw the update on initially, ptcrb site. Sorry can't post link because I lack that ability.

Oh sorry for not replying, I just got lost and I didn´t remember where I wrote. You assumed a lot and your asumptions were right. I'm on r800a .42 and I sometimes have problems with data speeds. I made before and after tests with mobilespeedtest.com and geekaphone.com/mobile-speed-test and the results are more or less the same. Sometimes higher scores and sometimes lower...
I would like to return to at&t stock but the pros overweight the cons. I have root access, status switches in drop down status bar, changed my font, and even CWM!.
The best that could happen in the future is stock ICS for R800at...
facil - easy
change is that the camera shooting with auto focus, but nothing else, I have the same cell in Bolivia, but flashee with a version "a" and wonder if you are using 4g Keep it the original version of AT & T, but if not better using a firmware "a

would love to have a fix for that issue on the R800at!!!
The only way i have found to fix it is to switch the radio to GSM only.
It just sucks because i have to switch back to WCDMA to use my data.

If you can make and receive calls then it's reading the sim card. If
you want unlock check out sgh-t989 unlock thread in themes and apps section. Also download sim card app from market it will tell you info about your sim card like if it's locked or not.

Yes there is no need to unlock to flash a ROM, but I think he is trying to unlock for a different carrier. Since he is already on UVLE1 he should unlock first and then install a ROM. I could be mistaken though.

if you bootloader is unlockable u must wait while develpers from here create a way to root with your status...
cheers...
I am quite happy that no one managed to root unlockable phones. The only way to do that is to exploit a security hole. And if xda-devs can make use of it, people with bad intention maybe also could exploit a security weakness, for example by spreading modified apps in the play store.
So it's quite logical that all phone manufacturers try to keep the unlockable bootloader unlockable, except for their way to unlock it.
Thats why I don't buy phones from a carrier.

I didn't buy my phone from a carrier because I wanted to get root and modify some things.
It's a pity that carriera are getting special firmware versions. Locked bootloader scares off many users, and many different firmwares slow down the update process for a new android version.

I lost root with the upgrade and am missing it alot .. Just wondering how kingo root method differs from doomlords method. Just wondering if rolling back to 4.2 journalists build try this kingo method that the other member used, and try update through companion again. How does ota differ from companion update?
Ota only updates certain system files, pc companion completely deletes system and writes it new.

Sup Guys!!
I'm with the same problem, ZL version with 10.4.B.0.569 (4.3), and wanting to root!!
There are some posts saying to just downgrade root then upgrade, some says the same but talks about "TA backup" and without it some phone funcions such as Bravia Engine stops work, and there's even the locked/unlockable boodloader.
How do i know which one of those is my boodloader ??
How do i make my "TA backup"?? What heapens if I don't do'it???
Why root?? There are a lot of bloatware that i can't remove and access some system files (restore data backup from some apps)
Sorry about the extensive post, but I'm new in Xperia "world"... Always used Samsung Cellphones (S -> S2 -> S3).
Unlocking your bootloader allows you to flash different kernels. On phones provided by carriers bootloader iften is locked, so you can't install a new kernel. Unfortunately, recovery is stored in the same partition, so installing a recovery doesn't work that easy with stock kernel. But NUT has developed a dual recovery that also seems to work with locked bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567266
You can check if you can unlock your bootloader by dialing
*#*#service#*#*
in your dialing app. Service menu will open. Navigate to service info - configuration. There you can see if you can unlock your bootloader.
If you can do that, check out this thread before unlocking:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
With this tool you can save your TA partition, on whick your DRM keys arw stored. If you choose to lock your bootloader again, you can.use it to restore TA, so the bravia engine will work again.
Edit: you might want to check this, it's a good guide to get started:

I've been running this since I published it in Dec. No lost.dir files or missing files at the top of any of the file systems. It's exactly the stock OTA except for the files that create the stock recovery on boot. The rooted versions add all the SuperSU files plus busybox and fix xattrs related to SELinux on /data to match stock settings.
Make a backup of your 4.1.2 setup via custom recovery first, then you can revert. You may need to update your recovery version to flash this firmware. See OP for links.
Well had that lost dir issue with this too...hmm I wonder if my card slot has gotten loose

Flash agni kernel. .. (see your other thread for the link)...g
New to the Note 2 family. Wanted to flash the rooted version through Odin but ended up with a SIU error problem, so went back and flashed the stock version and the device works...
I really want a deodexed and rooted note 2 so I can put TWRP and flash ROMs and make recovery backups.
But with the way my note 2 is atm, Kies won't accept it due to having some "unsupportable version" error through kies pre-flashing this rom.
This actually saved me from having to ship my device back because Kies tried to update when I used it, and ended up not being able to emergency recover it.. flashing the Odin stock saved me from having a paperweight.
Is there a way to make a "stock" backup, or do I need to find out how to make the rooted version of this work and download TWRP and backup that way?
Sorry if my typing is a jumbled mess, kind of excited to get back into the XDA community and it's hard to understand rooting and flashing roms on the newer devices. (started XDA with the Captivate Glide community)

Try flashing TWRP first via Odin, then flash the deodexed rooted package from recovery.
you can Odin TWRP? I didn't know that... I thought TWRP was only accessible from the Play Store?

"I have a note 2 android 4.1.2 with root stock only. Can i install directly from the AT&T odin UCUCNJ1 i317 Stock ODIN Note 2 or have to upgrade to 4.3 first?"
Good question. These packages are built from OTA updates applied to the closest previous version. I have not pulled a 4.1.2 to NJ1 OTA progression to see if a 4.3 intermediary flash takes place.
That said, you should be fine with a single install of NJ1. if you are cautious, make backups via custom recovery first. If you prefer to take a conservative approach you can flash MK6 (4.3), boot once and then flash NJ1.
Pues aproveche descargue y actualize directamente del 4.1.2 al 4.4.2 por odin y todo funcionando a la perfección, no he encontrado ningún bug y todo funcional. Gracias por los consejos

Replied there. No issue with the firmware, most likely a borked /data partition
Hello everyone I have flashed this rom and since cannot write to my extsd and have it stick when I reboot it disappears, I have tried a few of the apps that say would fix this problem and they did not work I have also tried different sdcards and also a no go. Hey guys i was wondering how to fix the charging on a n9300?
Where is that charging block located in? Kernel, System?
And is there a fix for the N9300 at all? All the roms are for N930F or N930FD only.. =(

Hi. Yes it's located in the kernel. You need to flash a custom kernel with twrp for your note 7 variant...

Are there any "fixed" kernels for the N9300 (TGY) variant? Otherwise ill have to try downgrade to older odin firmware and then disable OTA - but a custom kernel would be safer and better I guess.

If you get 60% update you can downgrade to 100%. If you get the 30% and less update, you can't downgrade anymore...

Yes you need to flash a custom kernel based on 100% kernel or flash the original 100% kernel with twrp. Maybe you need to extract it from 100% firmware. I don't know how but it's the solution. Good luck

Odin won't work anymore with you. Downgrade is blocked by Samsung. The only way you have it's installing from twrp...

yea i flashed it through twrp but its bootloader blocked apparently..
I found some chinese custom rom for the thing but its downloading with like 10kb/sec .. so next week ill know if that works.. =)
the story continues... now i have a chinese custom rom on the n9300 and its charging and all.. but gapps dont work =/
They were not preinstalled and i flashed the latest version for 6.0.1 and arm64 from opengapps.org, but somethings not going right. Google play services crash occasionally and after sign in i get booted out of the play store to reauthenticate. Im guessing there is some block in the chinese roms .. =/
So my only hope now is to flash a hongkong version again (which would return everything to stock.. means doin it all over again and take the kernel from that custom rom - with that the charging works at least. The older kernel from the old stock odin version didnt boot as I said.
Or any ideas on how to get the gapps running? Tried removing the play services in hopes that the store would just load it after setting up but then the store doesnt even open anymore =/...
Endless story this heh.
hi @zroice, did you manage to make this work? I am exactly in the same situation that you have been in, would really appreciate your help.

Install the hongkong version, that comes with google play. If you cannot charge then you need to try to downgrade.
If you cannot downgrade with odin because its blocked then you need to download aurora chinese custom rom for n9300 (google is your friend for that) and extract the kernel (boot.img).
Unlock bootloader, flash twrp and then that kernel from the aurora rom (through twrp image flashing on boot partition).
If your device then does not boot into the system anymore because "you are using an old kernel" or something then you need to extract the system.img.ext4 of an older hongkong odin rom version and copy that onto the phone space.
With "simg2img" you can convert that system.img.ext4 to system.img in adb shell terminal and then as final step flash that with "dd" onto your system partition (should be sda21 iirc). then it should boot and charge when you get the right system and kernel combination.
Its not trivial so pls understand that if you cannot follow these steps or dont understand then you better shouldnt do it, or find some android expert to do it.
PS: If you dont need google play or wanna try to get that running on the chinese version (also has all languages, but no google and some chinese crapware) you can just try and flash that aurora custom rom for n9300.
Here's the link to the chinese custom rom for n9300 with fixed kernel:

Unfortunately you need to make an account at that site to be able to download - chrome with instant translation helps alot with this.
