Fix charging on a N9300 (chinese Dual-Sim Variant of Note 7) - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hey guys i was wondering how to fix the charging on a n9300?
Where is that charging block located in? Kernel, System?
And is there a fix for the N9300 at all? All the roms are for N930F or N930FD only.. =(

Hi. Yes it's located in the kernel. You need to flash a custom kernel with twrp for your note 7 variant...

Are there any "fixed" kernels for the N9300 (TGY) variant? Otherwise ill have to try downgrade to older odin firmware and then disable OTA - but a custom kernel would be safer and better I guess.

If you get 60% update you can downgrade to 100%. If you get the 30% and less update, you can't downgrade anymore...

Yes you need to flash a custom kernel based on 100% kernel or flash the original 100% kernel with twrp. Maybe you need to extract it from 100% firmware. I don't know how but it's the solution. Good luck

fml **** doesnt take twrp anymore.. says i have to unlock it but i alrdy did.. guess its blocking odin =(
flashing the boot.img directly (in a tar archive) doesnt work either.. fuuuck

EDIT2:
flashed old boot.img but **** is blocked .. aka doesnt boot - sigh such a pain in the ass

Odin won't work anymore with you. Downgrade is blocked by Samsung. The only way you have it's installing from twrp...

yea i flashed it through twrp but its bootloader blocked apparently..
I found some chinese custom rom for the thing but its downloading with like 10kb/sec .. so next week ill know if that works.. =)

the story continues... now i have a chinese custom rom on the n9300 and its charging and all.. but gapps dont work =/
They were not preinstalled and i flashed the latest version for 6.0.1 and arm64 from opengapps.org, but somethings not going right. Google play services crash occasionally and after sign in i get booted out of the play store to reauthenticate. Im guessing there is some block in the chinese roms .. =/
So my only hope now is to flash a hongkong version again (which would return everything to stock.. means doin it all over again and take the kernel from that custom rom - with that the charging works at least. The older kernel from the old stock odin version didnt boot as I said.
Or any ideas on how to get the gapps running? Tried removing the play services in hopes that the store would just load it after setting up but then the store doesnt even open anymore =/...
Endless story this heh.

hi @zroice, did you manage to make this work? I am exactly in the same situation that you have been in, would really appreciate your help.

Install the hongkong version, that comes with google play. If you cannot charge then you need to try to downgrade.
If you cannot downgrade with odin because its blocked then you need to download aurora chinese custom rom for n9300 (google is your friend for that) and extract the kernel (boot.img).
Unlock bootloader, flash twrp and then that kernel from the aurora rom (through twrp image flashing on boot partition).
If your device then does not boot into the system anymore because "you are using an old kernel" or something then you need to extract the system.img.ext4 of an older hongkong odin rom version and copy that onto the phone space.
With "simg2img" you can convert that system.img.ext4 to system.img in adb shell terminal and then as final step flash that with "dd" onto your system partition (should be sda21 iirc). then it should boot and charge when you get the right system and kernel combination.
Its not trivial so pls understand that if you cannot follow these steps or dont understand then you better shouldnt do it, or find some android expert to do it.
PS: If you dont need google play or wanna try to get that running on the chinese version (also has all languages, but no google and some chinese crapware) you can just try and flash that aurora custom rom for n9300.

Here's the link to the chinese custom rom for n9300 with fixed kernel:

Unfortunately you need to make an account at that site to be able to download - chrome with instant translation helps alot with this.

[Q] How return i8160P to stock after JB

Has anyone figured out how to make a i8160P still a P after returning to stock GB. Any time I've tried to flash the original firmware the phone remains a regular i8160 and states that a custom power management has been installed. The NFC works but the device has no IMEI and insists at boot and in the device menu it is an i8160.
I don't think it is possible after you have flashed i8160 firmware
I've tried various different things but to no avail. It is a shame about my impatience. Especially considering the Germany i8160P, which is the one I have, has gotten the Jelly Bean update first. :silly:

Use I8160P GB SER ( include Pit File, ussualy) and then back to stock Germany GB for I8160P, and flash the new one...
If it doesn't work...
Go to your Samsung Service Center..

Sadly that first step doesn't work. It throws up the Custom Power Management Error and you loose your IMEI. Samsung won't deal with it since the device was not available in my region.

As far as I know the is no SER (RUS) version of 8160P available only 8160...
Tried this also with the RUS 8160 GB to get back 8160P. But didn't work....

This does not apply for 8160P (Ace 2 with NFC)... best case, you will have to flash back to MB2/MB4/MC8... mid case no modem/IMEI (no NFC, 3G, etc.)... worst case: brick! Do NOT attempt if you have 8160P!
I tried this, to regain NFC and to be able to flash JB ME1, but when trying to flash GB for 8160P over the Russian rom I got custom modem. Immediatly flashed back to MB2, stuck there now (MC8 is horrible!)

If you manage to install GB for 8160P w/o losing your IMEI, tell me how you did it... but probably you will encounter CUSTOM MODEM errors when flashing original 8160P fw (after having flashed SER for 8160)
You need a complete firmware.
The problem its I8160XXMB4. This Firmware include Bootloader, new memory management, ipl...
Once you have instaled mb4, your phone will be a "true" i8160 until you can flash a complete i8160p firmware, and in this moment, i believe that dont exit any complet i860p firmware, so You can still update your ace with any i8160 uptade, but not more i8160p, until some new "complete packaged" will be leak of course.
Could someone with a P that hasn't been flashed update a full firmware dump?
Should be "easy".
You need a i8160p rooted and some linux knowledge
The "only" problems are:
1º. You need to know the path to block files, normally they are in /dev/block
2º. You need to suppose that block are each partition (system, userdata, sdcard, modem, bootloader, sbl, cache...)
3º. You need a SD card with enough free space
Once you have all, should be "easy" dump each partition:
dd if=/dev/block/blockxxx of=/sdcard/bootloader.raw
dd if=/dev/block/blockxxy of=/sdcard/system.raw
...
where blockxxx should be each block device
But even when you can obtain all partitions and you can identify them, you still need create a firmware with them or flash some of them on other devices, with the correspondence risk and privacy problem form the dump owner... well, the owner could of course delete userdata, sdcard, efs... partitions
@primewell
You say MC8 is horrible because of the 482mb ram? Its just the official version... Whats so different and horrible between MC8 and MB2/MB4...

I had it with 6xx MB ram... but I wanted an unbranded fw. Would love italian job, but e.g. the SMS app from android 4.2 sucks on the small screen, and some other things. Or does smb have the whole ME1 stock apps? Then I could flash them to MC8 italian job

2 options for you...
1 Go back to kitkat root the phone install recovery.. And than reboot.. After that install pre PRE ROOTED lollipop.
2 Unlock the bootloader Than reboot.. Flash Trinity or Rockz kernel.. Than you have recovery and flash pre rooted lollipop zip....
In option 2 you wont loose data.. Provided if you have unlocked bootloader earlier and than relocked....
Thank You !!!

I did this before your reply.....
Gone back to Jelly bean. Rooted and installed recovery. Haven't unlocked the bootloader. And flashed the Pre rooted lollipop using recovery.
And working fine.
so now the prerequisites for this ROM will only be recovery and root. Not KitKat root.
Will download the updated ROM which is going to be released on Tuesday
Can you upload the files to google drive please Downloading for past 6 hours from mega and now it failed :crying: :crying:
I can resume the download on Google Drive with IDM . A humble request
No problems at all!
Amazing stock Rom. No fc. Flashed from stock kitkat. Everything working fine. It would be great if there were cool mods built in.

If it is I9195 then you can flash other I9195 firmwares onto your device.
Or if you want to be sure just ask that service guy to flash a normal firmware onto your device.

The guide is in Italian but you can easily translate with Google Translator!
It works without any problem...you can have all European major languages translations and Europe localization...no other significant changes.

Is it possible you make a system backup through twrp?
And upload it anywhere, if u do it don't forget do delete ur Google mail account. ^^
Would be awesome if it's possible.
I don't have twrp installed on the phone yet. As there bugs in the rom such as slow charging. I will wait for the update to come

Have you tried it...I'm on 17s and All seems to function well besides the camera OIS. The video are really shaky and the focus itself doesn't seem to be automatic.
However what you've posted seems to be not an official ROM for our le pro 3 but probably a porting of a 18s ROM minded for le 2 or lemax 2. As you can read It's prerooted and xposed is already installed. Probably we could think all 18s and 19s are porting from other Leeco devices. That could be the reason the fast charge doesn't function.
If you have these problem I suggest to downgrade to official 17s
Or
International BB72 17s - I prove it and is really good if you prefer to have your ROM in your language find them both here:

The slow charging isnt a bug.
It's just to protect that the phone gets to hot while u using fast charging and the phone.
If u use the phone the charging is limited to 500mA, if u dont use it u get the full Qualcom fast charge.

Anybody can post the 18s firmware somewhere I can download?!
I can´t access the files there. I don´t have account nor would be able to create one
BIGGEST BUG so far is the total unreliability with notification and alarm clock. It´s a total horror. One it´s all fine...the very next NOTHING. If I wouldn´t use a backup phone waking me I´d be late a lot of times
I can affirm....as long as display is lit charging is slow....even some time after that....but then some minutes later it start using mor than just 0,5A. Even in 5V charging! Which is FAR from fast charging
Flash 17s...is far better. You can scroll up and find stock and european version in the Italian web site I posted before.

Need latest Firmware for N9300 Hongkong Dual-Sim Variant please!

I have a semi-bricked N9300 dual sim from Hongkong (TGY).
No matter which firmware I try odin always fails with that dreaded "check sw rev failed" - aka the rom is not the right one apparently.
I tried the latest firmware available at samsung-firmware.net (or something) from 10th of october 2016 - but I think there was an even newer firmware installed on this thing.
TWRP is still working - so if theres a way to "downgrade" with TWRP by flashing partitions directly with DD that would work also I guess.
Please help - I tried to flash a modem part only (CP) and since then the phone is in a bootloop. Before I had it running and charging fine (combination of hongkong system partition and a customized chinese kernel which had the charging block disabled).

Is there any way to figure out which software/firmware is actually installed?
getprop tells me [ro.bootloader]: [N9300ZHU3BQB1]
but the latest firmware available online at samsung-firmware.net is N9300ZHU2BPJ4 version.
That's what I found
