Fairly new to the whole rooting game and I was just wondering if clearing my cache, doing the factory reset, and wiping dalvik cache sets my radio back to normal. I currently have Darkside Evolution Beta 3 and am looking to try some other stuff out and don't want to risk screwing something up if I still have the radio provided on the Darkside xda thread.
Thanks!
Pretty sure your radio only changes when you flash another radio. I've been wrong before though

Above post is correct radio wont change unless you flash a new radio...flashing a rom will not change your radio thats why some roms state to flash a certin radio before the rom.
So no worries if wiping cache or dalvik cache.
Are some radios not compatible with certain roms and could I brick my phone if they don't match? And by any chance does anybody have a link to the stock rom?

i updated my phone from gingerbread to ice cream sandwich. i did a nandroid backup for the gingerbread. if i decided to go back to gingerbread, i just gotta go into recovery and do a restore? or do i gotta reset wipe factory again and wipe data, cache dalvik?
I flash dark side super wipe before restoring

Before flashing anything even if it's nandroid, it is always best to wipe it clean.

The recovery restore doesn't reflash my old radio and kernal? Cuz I'm not even sure what radio it had. So I pretty much need to do all the steps again like I'm flashing a new but use the the restore in place of flashing new rom.

The recovery restores everything (including kernel) but not the radio. I have switched back and forth between ics and gb a few times without ever wiping before a restore and never had a problem. I would argue its not necessary but certainly doesn't hurt.
I have been having the worst time trying to figure out why i cant get mobile data when i flash a CM or AOKP rom. Theyre quick and very snappy but i cant get mobile data working. I checked my apn settings and installed per the OP instructions and still nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try the Telus Radio. T989D Radio. I have no idea why this is the only radio that works for me for AOKP even though I have the T-Mobile phone.

Now since data is working for you. But you're not comfortable since you flashed the Telus radio. Flash the Modded UVLE1 Radio (T-Mobile Radio) from TDJs thread(Darkside Evolution) here. He removed the RILs from that radio.

I've tried both the LE and LC radios. No luck with either. Definitely not comfortable with a Telus radio though you got that right.
EDIT: Got T-Mo LC8 modified radio to work (RILs removed). What I did was just booted into recovery and didn't wipe anything. Then just simply flashed the LC8 radio zip file and rebooted and had data. So for anyone having data trouble and you are currently running CM9 with Telus radio:
Boot into recovery
Don't wipe ANYTHING
Flash the T-Mo radio and reboot
That's all I did and data is working now. I did not test the LE radio just T-Mo LC. Hope this helps people. Please post the results you guys get from trying this.

hi guys,
alright some i'm new to this forum. i wouldnt consider myself that great at rooting and flashing etc but i'm getting the hang of it. been following qbking77 cuz he is like my god lol
anyway, i need to post at least 10 times before i can post on the thread that i wanna post on and i searched a little bit but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. and btw i have an Epic 4g.
ok, so ive noticed everyone saying i have CM10 or 9 and this and that and then they say they are on FC19 or El22 etc. I want to know how do i update/change that stuff, what my options are, and what would those benefits be?
i'm currently running CM10 build 9/14 by nightlies on stock FC09. will be going to the most recent build soon but want to maybe play with the baseband version. thanks guys.
You are correct. It is the baseband aka modem software on your phone. There is a thread in development that allows you to flash with clockwork mod and another thread that has you changing modems with Odin.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Since you're on CM10, your first stop should be this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30433583
Should give you better service/speed than any Epic modem.

The modem package includes a modified kernel. You must flash the ROM first, or its included kernel won't recognize the Nexus modem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
it keeps failing. i downloaded this: http://darkierawr.com/Android/Users/xboxfanj/nexusmodempatchcm10prevAIO.zip
was that the right one?
I'm pretty sure my baseband said unknown for the first hour or so before it showed the modem version
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
the only way i could get that file to install was if i did it before the CM10 rom. when i do it after it fails. so i wiped cache and dalvik again and just installed CM10 and now i still have unknown baseband version. what do i do? will i have to do a data reset?
Try mounting system and data in recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
i accidently wiped date, then cache, then dalvik, mounted system and then mounted data. flashed CM10 and then tried the modem and it still failed.
nevermind! i accidently mounted sd card instead of system. wiped everything rebooted recovery, mounted system and data and installed both zips. booting up now. taking a while for the animation tho....
I have a tmobile black s3 which is in 100% condition with excepetion to it gets hot for some reason upon to much use. I also have a white att s3 which has a cracked screen. I need at&t so im wondering, is it possible to swap the inside of the white and put in the black? Im hoping someone knows so I can find someone to do it.
My guess would be yes you could do that. For the heat problem though, if you are using stock build UVDMD5, either try Odin flashing the LJC firmware, or.Just flash the LJC modem.

WELL WHEN IT WAS STOCK IT GOT HOT. NOW IM ON WICKED V10 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804260 AND IT STILL GETS HOT..I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT LJC OR UVDMD5 IS.
It's the build number. Refers to the firmware. Check what baseband it says you're on. If it's the UVDMD5 one, go to the modem thread and flash a different one and see if it helps

Ok, I'd suggest making a nandroid then factory reset and test. If it stops heating up.then there may be some old or corrupted data causing a process to hang. If it still happens you can restore the nandroid and try a different kernel. Otherwise see if there are any other reports of the same thing in the Rom thread.

Flashing without wiping can help, but not usually. It's the data separate from the Rom that usually causes problems.
