I have been having the worst time trying to figure out why i cant get mobile data when i flash a CM or AOKP rom. Theyre quick and very snappy but i cant get mobile data working. I checked my apn settings and installed per the OP instructions and still nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried em all. Modified Blaze, modified LE8, and I still get no data. Text and calls work fine. As soon as I flash a TW or AOSP rom, it's fine smh I don't get it.

Try the Telus Radio. T989D Radio. I have no idea why this is the only radio that works for me for AOKP even though I have the T-Mobile phone.

Just to confirm. Wasn't getting any data on CM9 with T-Mo radios. Flashed the Telus T989D TLLE4 and voila data. Thanks for this informative thread. Wondering why some people with T-Mo radios have working data and we need to flash Telus ones?

Now since data is working for you. But you're not comfortable since you flashed the Telus radio. Flash the Modded UVLE1 Radio (T-Mobile Radio) from TDJs thread(Darkside Evolution) here. He removed the RILs from that radio.

I've tried both the LE and LC radios. No luck with either. Definitely not comfortable with a Telus radio though you got that right.
EDIT: Got T-Mo LC8 modified radio to work (RILs removed). What I did was just booted into recovery and didn't wipe anything. Then just simply flashed the LC8 radio zip file and rebooted and had data. So for anyone having data trouble and you are currently running CM9 with Telus radio:
Boot into recovery
Don't wipe ANYTHING
Flash the T-Mo radio and reboot
That's all I did and data is working now. I did not test the LE radio just T-Mo LC. Hope this helps people. Please post the results you guys get from trying this.

Why don't you just do apn backup and restore? You back up your stock apns and then any new ROM you use you would just delete those ones and restore your stock ones. I do that to all my 3.5 roms and that's how I get mms to work

Honestly don't know. I've used that kernel on a stock rom no problem. I would say maybe a bad download? Otherwise I got nothing.

It seem your phone can not flash new kernel. You must root the stock kernel before flash drell's #21
Flash this one first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133169, do not reboot, then flash #21
Check setting>about to sure you have new kernel.
I am new to xda,I just moved and for some reason have the worst signal....but I called sprint and they said my area has amazing signal.....
Is there a .zip file I can download or something to boost my signal?
Thanks.....

Are you rooted? If you are and have a custom recovery, just head over to the dev section and try flashing a few different modems to see which works best.
Remember, after you flash a new modem, you have to go into your system settings and update PRL and profile, then reboot. Try them all and see which works best. You can see which one you are currently on in settings>about phone> baseband version. Its the last 4 digits.
Edit: here's a link to the modems

Anything after EL29 fixes LoS so I recommend anything below that. Im on FC07 and it is perfect. Hope this helps!

Just flashing is fine. You literally just flash, boot, update, reboot. That's it. Although I have this slight disorder in which I wipe before every little flash, I don't think it's necessary. As always though, be sure to backup before anything.

Trying to figure out how to go from jb 4.1.1 jro03 to ics fi27. it's not the newest jb leak that just came out. the one from around a month or 2 ago. says my baseband version is ff18. if that means anything.
i'm having data connections in my home town and have to call sprint. when they tell me to dial ##*****# it wont do nothing. when i try to do system updates it calls sprint customer service and nothing happens. so i need to put it back to ics so i can get my data issue fixed. just wanna have the latest version of ics rooted. dont care of factory reset. i have everything backed up
they will wanna disconnect me from the network to fix the issue. they just did it to my wifes e4gt and it worked. i am in north dallas and they are upgrading the towers (data upgrades). i haven't had decent connection since friday when they started.
thanks for any help in advance.

let me get this right before i start.
choose the fi27 rooted option, rom no data, rooted? can i preserve my data going from jb to ics? sorry still a newbie at this.
No if you're downgrading from jb to ics you need to wipe user data. Oh and baseband is your modem btw so you're running ff18 modem it has no connection to what rom you run
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
It is best to wipe data when downgrading. You can however use titanium backup to make a backup of your user apps, then after wiping and installing FI27 you can then restore your apps and data. I've had no issues doing that. It just doesn't work if you try to restore a JB specific app.

Are you on a custom rom? Stock? Have you checked and verified your APN settings? More information please.
Please try adding manual settings of your network in instead of detecting the APN automatically. Hope it will work. Thanks

I am still on android version 4.1.2, with a non stock modem running cwm recovery and clean rom 4.8.
My question is do I need to mess with my modem before flashing clean rom 5.0?
Do I have to worry about my Android version if I wish to flash pac man rom thats 4.3?
Sorry for being a newb!

As Ranger stated....your rom will not be touched unless you choose to change it..
Cleanrom does not contain a modem.bin.....g
Ive been having problems with my modem which is why ive changed it. Its mainly when im connected to wifi but not always, it says I also have 4g but I cannot make/receive calls or texts.
So simplest way to change it would be to select a rom that has a built in modem?
Thanks again
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
4G is the data side of the connection. The sms and voice goes through the GPRS connection. They are not related. It sounds like a location problem or antenna problem.
Just changing the modem is easy - download and flash.
Does your sim work correctly in another phone?
Ive tried variois modems to no avail. I cannot test my sim bc I don't have another phone to test it with.
Ive decided to unroot and reset counter and return to stock so I can bring it to an at&t store. I did part of the process last night but I think I did it backwards.

I can't offer a link. . . when you do these things to your phone you void your warranty.
I'm sure I will get flamed for being old fashioned or called a douchebag, but everyone is warned about this.
