my apologies i was under the impression that the IMM76K variant was only for the korean nexus and not the japan model.

I got the notification this morning and I noticed in docomo's website mentioning that this update has a fix for sim unlock.
I had my phone sim unlocked temporarily with the old version of F***Docomo. Could anyone pls confirm if this update can still be sim unlocked?

Means you can use any other gsm sim on it. this is useful specially those who buy a carrier locked phone and use it in another country with a different sim so as not to incur exorbitant roaming charges.

My SIM card originally came from an iPhone3gs. I have been afraid to get a new one since then since I don't want to loose my unlimited data plan which is why I bought the Nexus at cost.
Do you think it's age could be a problem?
Quite possibly, my carrier (Vodafone UK) suggest changing every 2-3 years. It doesn't affect the contract as it's just a new SIM getting registered to your account. I did it when going from my HTC HD2 to my Desire after it wouldn't connect on 3G. New SIM in, full reception restored

Thanks!, I will give it a shot at lunchtime and see if that helps. It would be a shame to have to return this phone its quite epic!
I heard that Orange appear to be having network problems in various areas. Are you on Orange?
I bought my nexus from expansys-usa as well. It came running the yakjuxm? (Samsung) build. I flashed it over to the yakju build and xxkk6 radio without any problem. I haven't experienced any weak/low signal with either build or radio. As recommended, try to switch out the sim card first and see if that works for you. It will not affect your data plan and all you need to do is go down to your closest carrier store. Do it asap though so in the event something is wrong with your phone, you can get in touch with expansys right away.

I got the new SIM card last night but I am still having connection issues. I am going to get in touch with Expansy and see if there is a known issues and try for a swap. Aside from this issue I am really enjoying the Nexus Prime

Us gsm update

Did you guys with imported gsm galaxy nexus get your update?
I thought it would be nice to have a thread about when updates were being received for GSM Nexus in the US. When did you get the update? Where did you buy your nexus? What country is your GSM nexus imported from? Also what carrier are you using?
I got the 4.0.2 update pushed to my imported (UK -> US) GN yesterday. I installed a custom ROM running 4.0.2 and it went away though.
I guess ill start. Im running 4.0.1 on T-Mobile and still havent gotten mine yet. Got it from expansys and i think its from UK. I did get the first OTA update to 4.0.1 when i turned the phone for the first time 2 weeks ago.

Same with me.
It makes no difference what carrier you are on or where you are geographically. When your IMEI is up and you at minimum are connected to wifi when it checks you will be notified. You don't even need a SIM in the phone. Also it would probably help that you have the yakju Google build.

I got my GNex from Negri Electronics. Originally, I had the Samsung firmware build, so I flashed the stock yakju 4.0.1 image. I still haven't received the OTA.
I have a GSM version from Handtec. It arrived Tues morning. It received 4.0.1 update the first time I fired it up. I received 4.0.2 update? Wed? Or? Thurs?, can't remember. I'm on AT&T, for what its worth.

Exactly the same situation here.
Expansys import (presumably from UK)
Yakju
now at 4.0.1 (I do remember getting 4.0.1)
No 4.0.2 (or 4.0.3, for that matter)
Check-in succeeds but has no effect
updates
got my gnex yesterday played with for half a day no update, came with itl41d 4.0.1
got 4.0.2 update from google page myself, and pushed via fastboot.
Got tired of waiting. Updated manually using these instructions: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...-0-2-using-factory-imgs-w-o-wiping-phone.html

Not true, it will notify on HSPA as well. Mine offered to update with the volume bug fix before I could even leave the store with the phone.
On T-Mobile here. Got on 4.0.1 within minutes of turning on the phone. Still no 4.0.2.
Sent from my GSM Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
tmo here still on 4.0.1
Got my Galaxy Nexus from Expansys...still waiting on 4.0.2 but got the 4.0.1 update. Since 2007, I have only used an iPhone (jailbroken and unlocked) - so this whole update process is new to me.
I am on T-Mobile, but I am not sure carrier has anything to do with it...from reading other posts it seems its IMEI. My question is - on previous Android updates whats the estimated window (maximum) it takes for the update to be pushed out to all devices? A week, month?
Expansys USA unit (originally from UK)
T-Mobile
Got the 4.0.1 update as soon as I turned the phone on
Still no 4.0.2

[Q] Update and other noob questions

I've tried searching for answers but I just get more confused...I have absolutely no knowledge on the subject...
Recently bought a Galaxy Nexus (19250) in Hong Kong, and turned it on while still in Hong Kong and it updated itself to 4.0.2 (great!)
So now I'm back in Canada, and am on the telus network. Did some research and seen that there is Android 4.0.4, yet I'm still at 4.0.2. Is this normal? I downloaded this app called GNofficialUpdateChecker that told me my product name is YAKJU if that makes any difference.
I don't really want to do anything special, I'm just curious if it is normal that I don't have a notification to update to the most recent version.
Ok, and further questions...don't laugh but...is my phone GSM, LTE, HSPA, CDMA (pretty sure it's not as I have a sim card), and what does it mean to me. I think I read that it could mean a different size, with regards to choosing a hard case???
any help is really appreciated!

If you don't want to do anything special than just wait, and you'll get 4.0.4 when you're meant to get 4.0.4. Rumors are the 4.0.4 OTA has been halted for radio issues to be fixed.

It is GSM and HSPA+. There are just 2 models (basically) of the GNex. i9250 is your model with GSM/HSPA+, and i515 which is Verizon only and is CDMA/LTE. The i515 does have a SIM card for authenticating LTE. They're easy to tell apart because the VZW model is thicker, has a "Verizon" logo on it, and has the SIM and battery in different places under the back cover.
and what does it mean to me. I think I read that it could mean a different size, with regards to choosing a hard case???

The i515 is about 1mm thicker than the i9250. Most cases fit both and unless they specifically offer 2 versions of the case, 1 for each model, then you're probably okay just getting the one model they have.
Awesome!
Thanks for the reply. I have no problem waiting, just wasn't sure if It was normal or now. answered all my questions.
So, who decides when the update goes out? Is it Google, Andriod, Samsung, or the network provider (Telus in my case)? I'm going to guess google...?

Yakju is decided by Google, and doesn't involve your carrier. You can accept it over WiFi.
Yakju** models are updated by Google, who hands it to Samsung to customize for the region the build is made for, then pushed out by Samsung.

Order a galaxy nexus but received a docomo. Should I keep it?

Like the title suggest I paid about 400 and I really don't know the difference between them but I'm sure this isn't one I should keep or should I? I would hate to go through the hassle of shipping and waiting but then again I want the correct version. The input is appreciated

I believe theres a DoCoMo thread in the General section, there's an unlocker app in the dev section as well originally made for GN-Docomo's
But my Sim card works I'm on att. I just want to know if there's a major difference enough so to return the phone. Every thing seems to be working fine I just don't want problems down the road because this is a domoco

I think the differences are only limited to the supported network bands. But it seems everything's working fine for you on ATT.
On a firmware level, docomo may not be yakju stock - your future Android updates won't be coming through from Google but from Samsung, at a later date.

I personally would not keep Docomo version as from searching i found that with such version you have to either satisfied with being not permanently unlocked (SIM Unlock code request will appear each time you flash a new ROM or make a factory reset) or satisfied with being permanently unlocked but with generic IMEI.
When I bought my Nexus here in Vietnam there were a lot of Docomo ones but I rather waited for European version and was willingly to pay 20-50 USD more (Docomo version here in Vietnam is sold for 20-50USD cheaper than European version). Hope helped you with decision.

Different Versions of Device?

I see ads for various versions of the Galaxy Nexus hardware, some international . Will all of them work identically with US Tmobile?
No. There are 3 different versions sold in the U.S. Only the GSM version, the i9250, will work on T-Mobile.

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I am only talking about GSM versions. Even so there are some that have been imported from other countries, and I'm trying to be sure they are identical and will work on T-mobile with HSDPA+.
there's only 1 GSM version.
There are different model numbers like i9250M and others, but it's the same hardware.
Just don't get the docomo gnex, i personally feel it's too much trouble.
like mach said they have different name but are the hrdware is the same.. you could even flash the yakju (the one that is sold on play store) image to another build and make it yakju

Some of the vendors taking liquidated docomo handsets and reselling them in NA/Europe did a real hack job on the unlock (that being said the lock itself was an ugly hack apparently added at the last minute) which caused the IMEI to change. A real Docomo-performed unlock (by the carrier in a shop in Japan) will not change the IMEI and will persist over reflashes 4.0.4 or higher.
