Anyway to completely stop a system update? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I got notified with one and I dont want to update anything in fear of it killing the good wifi calling I get with the phone now.
I can only postpone it for 1 day , and I have to keep doing that every day. Is there a way to completely stop it

Download titanium backup from playstore and then freeze Device manager.

You'd have to get root access first, if you're not yet rooted.

Then you can try this. Root the phone. Then freeze it, then unroot the phone again. By using many of our unroot programs such as Unlock Root from here : http://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-root-any-android-device-using-unlock-root-41984/

Lost wifi calling after attempted Odin root

I am risking getting flamed but I find the search rather difficult on my gs2, I attempted to duo the Odin root (haven't completed due to having to do a hard reset) and I had noticed that wifi calling is gone is there any way to get that back? I have also noticed that keis no longer talks to my device it says I need to connect it no mater if I am in debug mode or in normal mode any ideas?
Perpetually stumped....

Odin wont root your phone. It installs clockwork mod recovery OR can be used to return your phone to stock configuration.
If you did something to root your phone with Odin, which it wont do, its no wonder you are experiencing problems.

could you have possibly used ODIN to flash a pre rooted 2.3.5 rom?
Are you saying that if you go to settings/Wireless and network you don't see WiFi calling there? it might be there, but just disabled.

Yeah this is wierd, ODIN doesnt even touch the ROM on your phone. All it does is flasha new recovery image.(if you followed the ROOT guide in the dev section). If you did anything with superuser in ODIN then you might have bigger problems than wifi calling...
Actually JessieJames11191981 hit the nail on the head it took me back to 2.3.5 how do I get back to 2.3 6 when over the air says there is no update available and it won't connect to Samsung keis

Flash a 2.3.6 rom through clockwork mod recovery.

Stupid question........how do I do that and keep the Tmobile stock (yes I do like it boat ware and all until I can figure out how to root)
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
use this thread to root your phone and install a custom recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1332103&highlight=super+one+click+root
then just flash a custom or stock 2.3.6 rom and bam wifi calling. If you want to keep some bloat but have an easy way to remove some download and follow the insructions of this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1322642 It has a program called bloater where you can pick what bloat programs you want to keep and which to remove

Yes you will. But you'll lose root and CWM of you accept it.
Edit: if you have superuser paid version it does have ota survival but its not guaranteed to keep root.

On stock rooted Roms and some TW Roms yes. But i usually take the update on my stock rooted Rom. It tries to install and restarts the phone then i get a android with triangle screen. But, i pull the battery and restart and all is fine. No more ota notifications and everything remains the same...

You know if you read in the general section. There is an ota notification kill. Then you dont have to worry about that. But to each their own.

Has anyone tried Rootkeeper with this OTA? If so, can you provide feedback on the results?

[Q] Lost root with 4.1.2 update, how can I re-root?

I lost root with the 4.1.2 update and I'd like to get it back. I went a little crazy with all the Gameloft deals and ended up with about 16 gigs worth of games, so I had to root to be able to use Titanium Backup to store everything on my SD card. I was running the stock ROM just rooted and didn't uninstall or change anything. I can't find anything else about how to gain root after the update that doesn't require flashing anything. Is there a one click option for me?
1. Download the apk from this thread and install it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
2. Hit "Root Device"
3. Profit

A Freakin' Amazing!
I also lost root during my AT&T 4.1.2 update, tried re-rooting via Odin, did 3 softbricks & resets & basically had given up on root. Then I stumbled upon this method, tried it & can't believe that anyone would rather root via Odin. Thank you so much!!!!!!!
I want \ need to root my note, is this the preferred method?

The update did not work for some reason. Is there anything else that would need to be changed in order for the update to work?

Hello,
I too had root, CWM recovery and stock ROM on my note 2 and was able to successfully take the OTA update to 4.1.2 and retain root access. I obviously have a stock recovery now after the upgrade but root is still present! I did have SuperSU (paid for version) that has the Survive OTA update mode and it worked like a charm! One thing to note is that it was not obvious at first that root was retained.
Immediately after the update, my root access failed when trying to use Titanium backup. Also, other apps requiring root access were failing as well. So, I went into SuperSU and ticked the "enable Super User" mode off and then on again and rebooted the phone.
After the reboot I noticed that Titanium Backup had root access and then verified the rest of my apps were working as well.
Three cheers to the creators of these wonderful programs.....I'm very glad I paid for the updates and got the added functionality!!
Good luck to all and hopefully it works as well for you as it did for me!!

You will have to unroot before updating phone. You can easily unroot from superSU

There are possibilities that you may receive the update and it may not unroot the phone , but certain times after update you may loose root access.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Use Mobile Odin with EverRoot option and you will keep root access.
root and unroot
