I'm using CM9 A2 right now. I don't know how, but one of my friend switched the 'car mode' on. Now my phone rotates 360° and ALL calls directly go to speaker phone.
I had got 'car mode' on notification once. Then it never came back. But I definitely saw it.
What all I tried:
- Restarting the phone
- Factory Reset
- Change Google Account
- Wiped everything and flashed the ROM again
PLEASE tell me how the hell do I shut it.

Dirt inte the micro-USB connector. IE it thinks a car charger i plugged in because there is some short in the USB port.
Saw another thread on the same issue.
He do I fix it?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using xda premium
Clean it somehow, maybe stabbing the USB-connection a few times with the charger connector
Try to find the other thread where it was mentioned, I think they carefully cleaned the micro-usb with something until it worked.
Oh damn, it was in Wildfire S sub-forum itself?
Will try finding it right away!
Reflash the rom with GAPPS that doesn't contain Car mode? Maybe that fixes it?

Well I use Amon ra recovery 2.2.1
Flash the calking zip.. This is better then just wipe ..
Also wipe everything separate ..
Flashed miui, evervolt. Sprint lovers rom .. The pc36img.zip . The roms were flashed one after the other when ten car home app started to open by itself.. Now I'm back on miui 1.28 and at first didn't get any about the car home app .. But like 6 hours later it started.. Something I've notice is that it does it more when i put it next to my iPad .. It's really weird and annoying at the same time ...
Okay, that it's so weird.so you are up to date as far as firmware from sprint? Did you wipe everything more than once?
Sent from my evil evo!!
You might have a problem with your USB connector. Girlfriend's EVO was having this problem (hers is completely stock) so we took it in to Sprint. Turns out the USB connector had some corrosion, they cleaned up the connector and it has been fine since. Apparently the corrosion on the connector was somehow making the phone think it was in a car dock, so it opened up the Car Home screen.

Hi, my Desire HD just automaticly turn on speaker everytime i call someone or recieved a all.
I did some searching and people say turn it off may help. I tried to turn it off (no fast boot) remove the battery, and it still turn on auto speaker
I also realized that sometimes when i turn it on, carpanel automaticly launch. So this might be some problem with carpanel. I turned off the auto option in "dock" section of the setting. Still doesnt change anything
I think the proximity sensor have problems. So i tried some test with it. It's still fine
Can someone help me with this? i even tried hard reseting my phone, it doesnt help
What rom are you using? I had the same problem once, reflashing fixed it.

I'm using stock ROM , when turn on it says the branding is SFR something. I havent rooted my phone or install any other ROM ever
Well then you could try recalibrating the g-sensor from settings -> display.

You may have flip for speaker switched on. Go to Settings>Sound and then under Incoming Calls uncheck the option for Flip for Speaker.

That was what I was aiming for. The g-sensor thinks the phone is upside down when in fact it isn't, recalibrating should fix this.

Hi all. thanks you so much for the support.
I've tried all the above, like turn off carmode, turn off flip for speaker...etc. take out the battery, sim card, sd card. It's still the same. After some digging, i found a topic about this on the DHD forum. They said it was an USB problem. i tried to plug it in to the USB and wiggle it a little bit and carmode/speaker auto turn on and off time to time. I was about to give up and when i'm on my way to return it. It suddenly come back to normal, no problem, tested with the USB cord. This is so weird !!!!! but i'm glad that it's gone away

My other half had exactly the same thing on her Desire, turns out it was dirt/ fluff in the USB socket!
I have the same problem with my DHD, since I don't have the warranty for my set, is there a way around it. Like some sort of app which turns the speakers off when u make or recieve the call. That can make my life easier.
This problem started with my phone too..I tried all above such as changing rom,usb trick, sim+battery+sd remove, calibrating g-sensor ...Only thing i did not try is changing radio..If it wouldnt help me ,i dont know what to do since i dont have a warranty too..Its really annoying..
DHD speaker selfactivating
Those problems /carmode and speaker selfactivating/ started shortly after OTA 2.3 update.I honestly don't remember how I've managed the carmode issue, but initially I was able to solve the speaker selfactivating by pulling out the headphones' plug during a phone call. That did it for a once or twice,as the result lasted for a day or two. After reading the tricks suggested above I tried them with no success until pulling out the phone end of the usb during a phone call while connected to the pc in debug mode.So far I've made a few calls and it looks OK.
I don't want to scary you, but when I had the same problem I found only one solution which works- restore to factory settings... Its a pity...
Hi ,
I have the same problem on my Desire Z. I have had the phone for more then 6 months.
I was running stock: - no problem !
I was running Virtuous Sense 1.0.1 for about 3 months: - no problem !
Yesterday I got this: it auto turns on the loud speaker when I answer or dial.
Flip for speaker is turned off, G-Sensor is calibrated !
I have updated to Virtuous Sense 1.0.2 : same problem !
I have wiped off everything and flashed Virtuous Unity 1.24.0 : TWICE !
Same problem
Sorry for posting under DHD, I did not want to open a new topic on DZ forum , but I will if I must, this is driving me crazy !
I have solved this after wiping all data and flashing the rom again (3rd try !
I told it, there is only one solution- restoring factory settings...
same problem without OTA
Got the same problem since 2 weeks without having done any changes at all to my DHD (still on 1.72.405.3)
+ Car panel starts randomly when connected to USB for charging
+ Phone speaker always on regardless what I tried before
So, I really do not think this is a rom related issue but more a "aging" problem like the GPS connectivity.
Anybody any idea, why the USB plug should be respobsible for this strange behaviour?
I'm not sure this is a USB related issue. It may be the audio jack. My problems started after unplugging the headphones while listening music, to answer the phone.
same problem here ...
My phone also started having the same problem since today morning!
EDIT: So I tried to remove battery, then cleaned the micro-usb port and the headphone port and the issue seems to have disappeared atleast for now. Don't want to do a factory reset as have too much data and apps on phone.
EDIT 2: So as it turns out it was Go SMS Pro problem that was causing the issue since its update 2 days back. The developer has released a new version in Market now claiming to solve the issue.
Anyways whatever issue it is hope it does not return.
as title says. last night I was simply watching a movie when i noticed the handset was very very hot, which is weird as it wasn't doing anything too stressing, i figured id let it cooldown abit, not two seconds after the video stopped, the audio went all messed up. I turned it off manually, and it restarted all normally. it happened again, although it wasn't particularly hot, however this time I did not manually restart it, I figured id wait to see if it sorts itself out. Instead it turned off. And it refuses to power on, charge or even go into boot. No idea, what's wrong.

Got that twice with ma HOX...trust me...just plug on wall charger and leave it for a while (30mins or so) and when LED starts to flash, try to boot your device again.
i will try
This is weird but yeah I left in charge for about 12± hours, started flashing about a few mins ago and it's working perfectly. Pretty sure my phone is possessed. So yeah leave it in charge until it flashes.
Btw I'm not doing much, and it's already getting a bit warm, anything I can do to make my phone handle more? Is there a way to under clock this?

My problem is solved... there was no need to wipe or reinstall anything, the problem was with usb port only. It was going in car mode automatically. I cleaned the usb port...played rough with it using my usb cable till the car mode stopped appearing. Now everything is fine.
Good to hear that !
Maybee some of you guys have a idea how I can fix this.
Recently I dropped my phone onto a concret floor (about 80 cm drop).
After that WiFi is broken.
If I turn on wifi in my desire, it automatically turns the wifi of after about 5 seconds (CM 7.02, Radio 32.56.00.32U5.17.05.23)
I already opend the phone but could not see any obvious damage.
I flashed several different ROMs, but they did did not solve the problem.
Today I flashed ICS Beta v0.17.1.1 by Sandvold.
This did not fix the problem but in this ROM the button for turning on WIFI in the settings is "dark grey" and nothing happens if you push the button.
Anybody has a Idea on how th get wifi back on my good old phone ?

How can I change the wifi antenna ?
I did not find any tutorials/manuals on that.
Hi!
You mentioned that you opened your phone - Did you make sure that the wifi antenna cable is still attached? It's one of those tiny little connectors and the one time I saw a friend open his Desire, it was veery easy to get it to disconnect itself. Maybe it popped and just LOOKED like it was still there, because it can't really go anywhere, but isn't really connected.
I would love to link an image, but sadly I can't do so as new user.

Yes, I saw the wifi-antenna-cable. It was a black cable, locatet at the opposit site of the volum control buttons, with 90° angled connector at both ends.
I disconnected both sides and made sure they snapped into the socket firmly befor putting the phone back together.
Hello, you can?
