Flashing Ics on my play. - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I want ics on my Play, because Sony doesn't release a offical ics Update, only a beta.
So i decide to flash CM9 which has Android 4.
But my question is, which Kernel and where Do i Download the right cm For my r800i.
Gesendet von meinem R800i mit Tapatalk

how did u unlock bootloader without loosing drm rights?

In this video, you see the location of the testpoint.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFhjmtyyy6E
Then you must follow this guide and you have an unlocked bootloader, but still the drm rights

____________________________________________________________________________
So I will use this CM9 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447542
How to flash it? I have DooMKernel and the Stock ROM with Android 2.3.4.
And after flashing this mod I will use the stock Home launcher.

download
1- cm9 fxp123 build http://fiberupload.com/0csywsb21t5k/FXP123-update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-zeus-UNOFFICIAL-signed.zip
2- google apps http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
step 1 - copy cm9 & gapps to sdcard
step 2 - flash new kernel
ON PHONE - put phone in fastboot mode (power off then press search key and plug usb cable) and phone LED will light BLUE
ON PC - run "fastboot flash boot boot.img" in cmd
you can find the boot.img in the cm9 zip file
step 3 - when phone is booting press volume key several times to enter recovery
step 4 - wipe data/cache & install cm9, gapps and reboot

OR you can follow this guide

I just found a thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508017
I can install a Dualboot kernel.
But how does it works? I must install this kernel. But ICS requires a different kernel as GB.
And my expansion was to install CM9 on SD partition and GB on NAND.
Will it work? When yes how to install it correctly?

If i use test point method will i be able to re lock in case of emergencies?

Yes, I saw a file that you must flash, to relock the BL again.
But I don't know where the file is.
But in normal case, nothing bad happens.

mmmm i don't know i had never try the dualboot kernel
ask KeiranFTW he mad the dualboot kernel sorry

Probably, but do you think you really need it?
And for the guide on CM9: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1600833 ^^

Yes, because the OS on the NAND is my first OS which I use normally.
And the partition with ICS is then my experimental OS.
That's how I will do this.

No, you can't. Consider reading the thread for answers next time.

so srry for bothering u all but its best i use Sony's method?
and what are the consequences of there method..... is it that i'll lose my DRM keys??
what are the consequences of losing them????
can someone explain it to me or show me a link that does plz

you can't dualboot 2 different android versions because ICS and GB require different ramdisks

Unlock with normal method or testpoint (drm data keept)
Get root/cwm
Find your rom and fitting kernel
Flash.
If you just go first to general selection theres a lot fully made threads about unlocking and getting CWM. (on top, the pinned ones)
Then go to dev. selection so find your rom and follow the guide to flash

Any help please?
actually it says

CWM for Xperia S/Acro HD

here's a quick and very easy guide on how to install CWM on Xperia 2012 line ups.
just download the CWM install file
SO-03D / Acro S here
Xperia S here (big props to PuriketsuAngel)
unzip folder
connect phone normally via USB to your PC
go to unzipped folder, execute install.bat
that's it, CWM installed.
to go to recovery mode - just restart device (turn off, turn on) and while on the SE logo, simply tap the screen of your phone several times.
up and down volume keys will serve as your directional keys, camera button will serve as "select/ok" key.
and yep, back and home buttons work within the CWM environment.
note: when you choose to restart/reboot system now while on CWM screen, phone will turn off.(it does on mine). just restart normally - like pressing on the power button to turn it on.
Device must be rooted. we got a tut on how to root your device even on locked BL here
N O T E
This is a work around if restoring from previous back up is giving you error.
Back up :
Before doing a NAND back up - please do a manual reset of your device - no additional Apps must be installed. Also clear/delete any left over folders from your SD card.
Restart device then tap screen several times - once in CWM - clear cache/dalvik cache.
Then and only here would you do a back up for your ROM.
Restore :
Before doing a restore - please do a manual reset of your device - turn device off, hold vol-up and power button at the same time until you get 3 vibrates.
Now you can do restore.
if this CWM version is still giving you errors : please provide a detailed account of the error message, a logcat will be appreciated.

Good to hear. But I will wait for someone to confirm this. Kinda scared (I had another device, and modded it a lot, but I'm quite noob to XS yet)
nothing to be scared about. the guide is fairly easy to follow and no special key combination required. the process just installs CWM on your recovery partition.

Strange Problem With ARC LT15i.

I was installing Custom Rom to Stocked LT15i with (Bootloader Status Allowed = YES) phone And i faced a strange problem that I never faced before. Below is detail of my problem
1. I Installed Stock 4.0.4 Stock ICS Firmware Via Flashtool before it was on same 4.0.4 but its was updated via PCC.
2. I Try to unlock its bootloader from official site i got the key and try to unlock but Fastboot command said its already unlocked bootloader. So I head to next step.
3. I rooted it with Prerooted kernel image. name ARC Autoroot v1 its worked fine.
4. I installed ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.7-nAa-r2 via batch command provided but a user in this section. worked fine.
5. Now Problem is Any Custom rom i want to install from CWM its give me (satus 7) eroor. I preceded steps 1 to 5 again n again but same error.
6. I tried all the solution for Error status 7 provided by user but no luck. like build.prop and removing some script.
one thing i noticed its IMEI start with 01 m not sure it is the cause. Let me know what is the easiest way to install custom rom to it. Its belong to my friend.
(I am able to flash any kernel )
I search all the night but didn't find solution so i ask.

You need to flash compatible kernel for the custom ROM you are trying to flash. For example, when you download CM10 ROM, kernel boot.img is included in that rom zip. First we install compatilbe kernel(boot.img in case of CM10) and install rom zip from CWM.
Download and install CM 10 just to make sure you are doing it right. But first flash kernel first.

[Q] Trying to install Xperia Play Z final version, very confused. (r800a)

Hey guys, as the post title says, I'm trying to install the xperia play z rom, and I'm hitting a lot of road blocks. First one is, I don't even know if my phone's bootloader is unlocked! I'm pretty sure it is, because I thought all r800a's came with an unlocked bootloader, and I also used the flashtool, unlock bootloader tool, and it said it was already unlocked.
So, naturally what I do, is I flash the firmware in the guide (located here - http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-cu...a-play/417392-rom-xperia-play-z-v1-1-0-a.html), and after that I want to root it so I can install a recovery. But when I try to root it, it always fails on part 1. So I tried to install cyanogenmod recovery without it. But after the apk is installed, i'm not able to install the actual recovery because it is not rooted.
My main problem with the guide is that it says to just boot into clockworkmod recovery, but I don't know how to. I turn on the phone and press the up button, but without installing the CWM/X-parts recovery, there's no way I can expect it to come up.
Any help please? I'm totally lost here. I know how to get roms that are based on gingerbread, but for some reason, Ics/Jellybean roms don't work at all, and I don't know if it is whether because my phones bootloader isn't unlocked (even though it says it is), or it's something else, like me missing a tutorial specifically for ics/jellybean roms.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, another question. What happens is that when I try to flash an ics kernel, it goes into an infinite bootloop, but when I flash a gingerbread kernel, it works fine. Is this a sign of a locked bootloader? Cause I thought you wouldn't be able to install any kernels if it was locked.

For future readers -
a. The r800a indeed does come with bootloader unlocked
b. It is normal for the phone to bootloop, Just go into recovery like normal and install the rom .zip. (It's usually tapping back while starting the phone, but if that doesn't work, try up volume or down volume)

The MIUI thread has a complete tutorial of how to unlock bootloader (okay you did that), but after that it explains you how to root and install CWM. What firmware are you on? From what I can see the instructions for how to root .200/.211 are a bit daft though (the author expects you to already have a custom recovery). If you're on .200 or .211, skip the rooting step and just flash one of the custom kernels with fastboot (for how to flash a kernel with fastboot, you can also use Flashtool to do this, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963961). Depending on which recovery you installed/tried to install, there are different ways of accessing it. If you used RecoverX, you need to tap the Sony logo a few times when you're rebooting. If you used a custom kernel or the 6.0.3.0 recovery for JB DooMLorD has posted, you need to press volume up when rebooting.
If we're to help you, we'd like a little more information. So what firmware are you currently using, which recovery were you trying to install?
