This is for people who haven't already manually rooted/updated their phones.
If you did get the OTA update, I'd be interested in what city/state you got it. I'm wondering if it is regional, random or perhaps by SN or billing date.
Yeah, got it yesterday.
I had flashed back to stock 4.0.2 last night and didn't get it. I checked this morning and didn't get it. I re-rooted back into my twrp backup until the OTA is more heavily rolled out.
Nothing yet in Dallas. Had the phone since day 1.
Not yet. I bought the phone in late December, live in N. VA but spend more waking hours in Washington DC.

It was built at last month.
How could you have received it months ago?
Got the update a few hours ago by doing the "Framework Services" trick. Funny thing is, I did it about 20 times this morning with no luck. I was bored and figured, why not try it again, and this time it pulled the update on the first try. Downloaded/Rebooted/Installed with no issues.
Am noticing the signal bars are now switched so that it more resembles the other phones (showing 3G signal strength instead of LTE). Also, the phone is A LOT snappier, especially in menus and the app drawer. It wasn't bad before, but I could definitely tell there was a slight stutter when scrolling through the widgets menu before. That's completely gone now, and it scrolls smooth as butter. Doesn't really make too much of a usability difference in the long run, but it's still good to see Google interested in working out little kinks like that to improve UI responsiveness.
Haven't had a chance to make calls yet, so that's yet to be seen, although I haven't had any of the audio issues everyone else is having.
Glad we finally got this.
My phone has cm9, so I'm not worried. My wife's phone is stock, unrooted, and she has not received the update. We are just north of Atlanta, Georgia.
I too was able to force the update by clearing data on "Google services framework" and then mashing the check now button like no tomorrow...

Currently a Nexus-S 4G owner, thinking of getting the GS II, but keep reading so many issues with WiFi...Network/Radio...SMS text problems...I am scared to upgrade to the S II, until an update/patch is released to fix these issues I have read about.
Also my Nexus-S has pretty crap WiFi signal already, in my house with a great WiFi setup, it drops way too often, my EVO 4G was rock solid always connected.
Any news or opinions on this ?

Honestly, I haven't had ANY of these problems. Maybe I got one from a different batch because I was backordered.
My phone seemlessly goes from WiFi to 3G and back again without any intervention from me, in weak OR strong coverage areas. To my knowledge, all my texts have gone through.
I just rooted late last night (with the stock kernel), and so far I haven't had any issues, either.
No issues what so ever trust me. Ask stock phone. Always on wifi when at home. Wifi turns on and connects super quick. text calls come thru right away.

I agree 100% with your sentiment IRT the thread...but, I had 2 LOS in the 5 or 6 days I was rooted. I rooted and had another 2 over 2 or 3 days. Stock kernel reinstalled and I've been good so far, but, I think blaming the kernel is foolish. The problem occurred before I rooted and after I rooted.
Does the fact that I am now rooted with a stock kernel and haven't had the problem suggest to you that only rooted stock-kernels are without fault?
You guys know that you can have everything stock, including kernel/rom/recovery, except the rom would also be rooted by addition of su binary/apk/busybox?
I haven't had any los or any other severe issues before or after I rooted the phone.
It may be that since I live in a small university town, my towers aren't getting upgraded to rev b, but yours are. These issues may not have anything to do with the phone at all. Maybe it has something to do with the sprint maintenance timing.
Or maybe it's because some people bought their phones from third-party retailers, and the phones weren't properly activated.
Or maybe it's some commonly used app that people with problems have installed, and I and others don't have installed.
I've had minimal to no issues personally. And I've had none while using stock Kernel. Using i9000 kernel I had a few LOS, but infrequent.
I also owned the Nexus S...and this is BY FAR a better device from a connectivity comparison.
Remember that the complaints you see are misleading...in that people are more apt to post about an issue, versus those that don't. It's human nature.
rooting or not has NOTHING TO WITH THE ISSUES!!
- I have had a stock phone since the day it came out, and have "watchdog lite" installed, watchdog alerts me about 10-15 times a day that "suspend", "events/0", and "base system" in my phone are using over 50% CPU while the phone is sleeping... LOL, it JUST happened again while i was typing this...
- also had the LOS issues 2 times, has to restart the phone to get signal again
- once, i was in a call, and when i went to "end" the call, i could not click the end button... the other side wud NOT hang up because it was customer service, they r not allowed 2 hang up on a person... so i had 2 restart the phone to fix this
- sometimes i click the power button to wake the screen, n nothing happens for about 5 seconds... so i click the button again, and the screen turns on and back off right away... n den i have 2 click the button a 3rd time to wake the phone...
- sometimes app just close randomly, and if you try to open the app again, its begins from the VERY BEGINNING, so w.e. u were doing in the app is lost... this sucks for games, and if ur in the middle of something important
- when the phone is on charge, the keyboard sometimes acts weird, typing letters u never click... and also u have 2 touch the screen 2wice sometimes 2 make selections... only happens when on charge, u take it off charge, n its back 2 normal right away
cant think of anything else as of right now... but there are some issues in the phone that can most likely be fixed either via root, or thru a sprint update...
I had the nexus s 4g and due to the antenas that phone was practically unusable especially on wifi. The gs2 doesnt have any of those issues. This is the first phone since the evo 4g that has impressed me snd i have owned the evo 3d and photon as well.

I seem to be having an issue with battery draw whenever wifi is on.
I'm not rooted, my phone is 100% unmodded. I haven't even installed a different launcher.
Im hoping for an update so my games dont continue to crap the bed 10 mins into them. Nothing like trying to lvl up in nova and never finishing an online match.

LOS can occur with or without the root. I've only experienced it once but it was in an area with good coverage and no one else with Sprint phones at my office encountered it when I did. It only happened once but I do NOT have a modified ET4G - it is stock. There is a detailed thread on this on android forums and it can occur with or without a root. Apparently it was listed on android forums or android police that this is a known issue. I don't use wifi but it seems to be a common issue for people using wifi from what has been reported.
That being said, I would highly recommend this phone to anyone looking to get a phone.

Yeah... you would think that being unable to handle games for more than 10 minutes would have been something that the engineers would have caught during development...
I have had no issues either. I had one LOS after I flashed the rooted kernel. Went right back to stock kernel and no issues since. And none before the rooted kernel either.

That's just speculation. It's more likely that they are collecting feedback from the first wave of updates as JBQ said. After all, the entire reason for not rolling it out to everyone at the same time is so that they can see that the updated devices come back up and seem to work normally.
Think of it this way. If you push out the update to 100 phones and 70 of them never come back up (ie. they don't login to Google within a certain amount of time), then you have a potential problem with the update.
Maybe not pulled since you can still get the factory image but OTA rollout has been stopped according to a vodafone rep: http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Google-Nexus/ICS-4-04-Update/m-p/1073311#M13631
There is no OTA 4.0.4 update for more than one week for yakju build devices.
I wouldn't complain if it has. A lot of GSM users complaining of radio troubles during sleep.
Does not affect CDMA users though
Seems like the tables turned on radio issues in 4.0.4. CDMA is better, GSM...not so much.
I don't know if it's been pulled as I've already updated to 4.0.4 but I can say that mine is problem free (thank god).
I find it strange that it doesn't affect everyone.... Anyone have any idea why?

There are multitudes of factors to account for when diagnosing or replicating problems across all devices that are not equal per se. I didn't think I had the problem until my text stopped sending after clicking enter. The signal dropped out as well as other radios were gone for a brief moment.
I think it's only a matter of time before it happens to most people.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I can definitely say my cell network data connection has refused to function on multiple occasions on 4.0.4. Possibly the sleep issue. Once restarting the phone fixed it, once not even doing a battery pull could fix it. It started working again at some random time later. I was trying to nail down if walking far enough that being a different tower fixed it or not.
Definitely given the amount of people complaining and the fact I've seen some wonky data connection issues it seems there is a bug.
I bought mine from Negri back in November, it came with yakju. On TMo in NYC.

When you say rushed, that means at least a month from now, right? It is Google after all.
But I'm not going to complain about 4.0.4; it works fine for me. What I still hate is the poor communication from Google.

Yeah, I know the .001% of the population on XDA wants weekly massive improvement updates streaming to their Nexi, but it is simply unrealistic. This stuff takes time.
Silence is aggravating, but our phones get updates a LIGHT SPEED vs. any other Android phone. I'll take that any day of the week despite not getting an hourly update from the Android developers working on the inside. They're busy, believe me.
Had one this morning and accidentally hit accept. I was half asleep and went through its process, about 10 minutes, actually seemed like 5 and rebooted. Says 4.0.4 and I swear it said 4.0.1 before.
Only had this phone less than 2 weeks. Not sure what the update really did. Cant notice a difference.....which is good, because I was loving the experience thus far.

Should means there's no connection/reception to the tower. I get this when I'm underground in the subway.
And why does it say December 31?! Maybe the phone is defected.

There is no signal going to the device. Some devices may default to December 31st sometimes if out of coverage for an extended period of time.

i ran into a similar but different issue my signal meter had a circle with line through it was un able to make/receive calls n text but 3g was still there and fully functional
Hi guys,
My Galaxy Nexus running stock 4.2.2 started getting zero bars reception in my house in about mid December. At the time, I hadn't done anything different to it, so I assumed it would go away over time, so I focused on my final exams instead. Flash forward to today, it's been months since I have had reception on my phone. This is a really big problem for me, as I can't even take phone calls or send/receive texts. I've been using Rogers One Number and Whatsapp through WiFi to get by, and it sucks.
My brother has the same phone, and I helped him flash the Google stock ROM, so hes running same everything as me. I've tried plugging his Sim into mine and my phone still gets zero bars (his is fine). I've tried plugging my Sim into an old Samsung dumbphone, and it was fine. I don't remember if I tried my brothers phone... I will if I have to.
I had no problems for the months I owned the phone leading to December (since about March last year). I've tried scouring the forums for solutions, but I get flooded with Verizon reception problems... I'm in Canada on Rogers, and had my phone working well until December, so it's not the right problem.
According to the secret menu, it says I have -107dBm (fluctuating to -111dBm within the typing of this message), 1 asu. I have no idea what that means, but I see everyone always posting this with reception issues. I've tried doing a backup and a factory reset, with no results. I've tried flashing to stock 4.1 with no results. This leads me to believe it's a hardware issue, so I tried opening it up to see if the antenna was loose; it was not.
Please tell me what kind of additional information I need to provide for you guys to try to help me. Am I supposed to try flashing a new radio? Which am I supposed to use if I'm in Vancouver, BC on Rogers?
I found this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163312&page=), with a magical solution of waiting the next day. Unfortunately, I've been waiting for months.
Regards,
Eddy.
