Hi all, I love my wildfire a lot. But I've rang up my provider and asked if I could end contract and start a new one. to end my contract cost £50 and I asked them if I could split it over 2 months on my new contract and they agreed (wife doesn't know this yet lol) so if she doesn't mind then ill be keeping it but if it goes wrong. Ill be selling it to pay the £50. ( hope I don't.) To the happy part. I'm having the Samsung Galaxy S2 coming tomorrow. Didn't go for the s3 as short of cash at mo since swapping jobs and new job pays less and the s2 is £26 a month( only £6 more than what I'm paying now)
ps. I want to keep my wildfire
Good luck then mate, I'm thinking of the s2 now aswell i have 1 month to go if they'll give me one, would love s3 but its just a little over what I'd like to pay. Hopefully I'll see you over there in about a month!

Well good news, I'm keeping the wildfire. I won't be leaving HTC section as my dads contact end soon and will have his new phone as he doesn't want a new 1 so will look into phones then about September's.

I am able to get a new Phone in 3wks time as my contract is up, its a dilemma for me though i'm more than happy with my DHD, but my daughter wants it and i'm getting some pressure to get a new phone...
I'm thinking maybe Sensation or Galaxy S2, last few phones have been HTC and i've been more than happy with them but the galaxy looks pretty good too...
Anybody made the move recently any regrets, thanks for any info...
My dad has got the s2 and its a really nice phone. One thing I don't like about it mind is the plastic. I've gotten so use to the aluminium on the dhd that it just seems kind of cheap. However it is very light.
Maybe wait for the next round of ICS devices before you purchase a new phone.

As the thread states my friend just got a Nexus on contract and is using it to pay off his O2 contract as he already has a sim free iPhone 4S.
I can sell my GS2 for around £200-230 so just need to pay the difference to get it up to £300
Played around with it a tiny bit and it looks ok but not really sold on it however I do love the pure google experience (previous nexus one owner)
Good deal or not?
Yeah! Honestly, I got this phone yesterday and you will NOT be disappointed. The screen, the smoothness of ICS, it's just a freaking monster man. And You're only going to be paying around £70-£100 for the phone so you can't go wrong!
Edit: Just read you already own a GS2. I would not be so sure then, it depends on how desperate you are to get ICS, because once that hits the GS2 the only thing that will be to the Nexus' advantage is the screen and dev support, which is more than enough for me to go for the Nexus lol.
Decisions decisions....
Get it! and sell it me small profit for yourself
It's really a beast! Some of my favorite things are the screen, led, and the software buttons they are geinus!
Honestly, if I were you, I would wait until next year Q2 2012 when it is rumoured that quad core phones that are coming out. I'm pretty sure there are already ICS roms for the Galaxy S2 and you're getting it next year anyway from Samsung. However, I haven't had any experience with the Nexus so I can only tell you from what I think, I haven't actually compared the fluidity and smoothness of both phones.
keep your gs2 and wait.for.ice.

Good deal, go for it while you can still get that for your GS2.
I sold my GS2 for the Nexus and haven't looked back. It's just a better overall device and probably one of the coolest gadgets I've owned.

Don't listen to this idiot. He's the biggest troll on the Galaxy Nexus forums and only posts useless comments/complaints. You should definetely go for the Nexus - pure Google experience, HD screen, etc

Gotta agree. There are a few users here that I see post the same useless drivel. Makes ya wonder.
Anyway, like I said before, go for it. You won't be disappointed.
Side note: The touch screen buttons have just made other Android devices look antiquated.
I am pretty sure I will if my friend doesn't decide to keep it.
£300 is not a great deal considering a brand new one sells for around £428.79. If you do not like it, you should be able to sell it for more than £300.

nice signature. lol.
It kind of depends. Since you already have a GS2 it's not really an upgrade but a lateral move from one phone to the next. The GN2 will definitely outlive the GS2 as far as official updates and dev support is concerned, but the GS2 already has plenty dev support right now and will likely have it for as long as you own/use the phone. The screen on the GN is way better, the processor is just as good, the GPU and camera on the GS2 are the only real advantages so it pretty much evens out in my book. It really is going to come down to personal preference. The reason I jumped to the nexus line was because I was a Vibrant owner and never saw a froyo update on my phone while Samsung promised and promised. The dev community and custom gone were the only things keeping me happy with my phone. About a week after the Nexus S was released I walked into a Best Buy and put my phone running a custom froyo rom with an overclocked processor up against a bone stock display model and the display model Nexus won every battle. I bought the phone a few days later and haven't looked back since. Now there are a few caveats to the story, one being that I had a variant of the GS and that Samsung had indeed finished the froyo update about two months before the release of the Nexus S (just not for the American variants) but at the end of the day, the Nexus S is going to receive an official update of ICS and the GS isn't despite them having nearly all the same hardware components. The devs are still there and they will give the phone a proper update but it would be easier with an official kernel to play with. Just my thoughts. Personally I'd go with the GN unless you plan on playing multiple high end games that require you to have a better GPU.

The stock google experience is swaying it for me right now and it looks like I will have to pay a minimum of £80 to £100 + selling my GS2.
Will see my mate on Thursday and take it from there and will let everyone know if I suddenly become a GN owner
My wife said no I cannot trade so I said it's an christmas present to myself so may have to sweeten her up a bit haha

Actually its a very very good deal. Its 429 + vat which is more like £520. Also considering its from his friend and not some random stranger he can be pretty sure there's not some weird fault with it or something dodgy. Its pretty close to having a brand new phone with £220 off
Personally for around £100 I would probably upgrade. I agree with other posts its more of a lateral move, but the SGS2 is soooo common now, especially in the UK, and its coming up to a year old soon. The Galaxy Nexus will stay 'new' for a while. Also remember the GN resolution is the native resolution for ICS and what it was designed for. Although other phones with lower resolutions will also get ICS i'm sure there'll be some compromises somewhere.
Anyway its all opinion, but for me i'm slightly for the GN. BTW I upgraded from a N1 to a Galaxy Nexus, and my only experience of a SGS2 is 5 minutes with my friends one at the pub.
Interesting as o2 would let me pay off my remaining 2 months of my contract so i could get the galaxy nexus earlier.
They told me they do not allow this anymore and for that they have lost a customer, they never even tried to do me a deal.
I pay £41 a month for unlimited everything on my new contract which would mean i will pay £984 over the 24 month contract.
Hes going to be well out of pocket once he pays off his contract is o2 let him.
Text my mate to say I am going for the GN so now it's just down to when I go and get some cash for my phone and when I get to see him next.
Good timing as well as he was considering selling it tomorrow!
I bought a galaxy nexus and returned to my s2...
Only the screen is better on this phone and the new os, everything else isnt worth spendig money on it...

It's costing my friend around £200 to pay off O2 and he managed to get the GN for FREE on 12 months at vodafone so he will actually make around £100 from this and will also be on a 12 month agreement not 18-24 months.
On o2 he pays £37-38 a month and Vodafone will be £41 a month so makes sense really for him to sell it and for me to buy it lol
Hi everyone. I have a G2. I've had it for quite sometime now and my contract is up with tmobile. I'm looking to upgrade. Its either the Amaze, Sensation, or One S. I know HTC has gotten out of the mass production of cell phones with the release of the One S. My questions are is this going to be like how apple releases only 1 iPhone or no? Also, which would you guys recommend. I don't care much for the One S's camera. But the development behind the amaze is virtually non existent. Sensation is something I've always wanted, but all 3 seem to be with sense. Which I hate. Help a guy out as I would like others opinions. Thank you in advance!

If you want to upgrade soon ,I would go with a galaxy nexus ($350 from play store, contract free). If you want to uprade in a few months I would wait for the next nexus phone. I prefer pure android over sense, touchwiz, motoblur.

if i were to buy a samsung the above mentioned would be the only one currently. if i broke my g2 today... i would just buy another g2, even at the same price as any of these "better" phones
just my opinion
The One S is a beautiful device. Honestly, if you are looking at the "best" phones on T-Mobile it is between the Galaxy S III and One S.
yeah, im still debating. Plus people always say the iphone is coming, which i refuse to believe until i see it lol
I actually just got my G2. It was either this G2 or a galaxy nexus (fantastic phone, test drove it in the VZ store). I ended up going with the G2 to test how tmobile prepaid plan works before dropping a lot of a gnex. Now however I will wait for my dream phone. So I guess my vote is for the gnex. If you are not sure check out a VZ or ATT store, just be sure to put on bug spray (for all the sales people.. quite annoying..)
My contract is up in a month and I can't wait to get my hands on a sgs3!

If I were you I would get the galaxy s iii. The one s has had some problems like terrible battery life, lag and many other things. But I would not get the sensation or amaze because those are sort of old hardware. If you are going to have to wait for 2 years to get a new phone you should get the latest of the latest :silly:. So in my oppinion you have either the One S or the GSIII.
The problem with getting the galaxy nexus is that it is a year old and if THAT runs so well with jelly bean, could you imagine the GSIII??? It would be amazing!

My response to that would be- Why would I get a locked down iPhone when I could get an Android device? The quality gap between Android and Apple used to be drastic, but now I think Android has an edge. The One S and GSIII are better devices than the 4S, and will hold their own against the inevitable 4inch iPhone 5.
That said don't be shocked when the iPhone 5 reaches T-Mobile, Tim Cook isn't going to leave an entire carrier to Android like Jobs did.
My contract already expired, but I kept my DZ and Ill wait for the next nexus device. Its just a damn big advantage to have pure Android as its meant to be, fast updates and great dev support. Sure I was tempted to switch phone as the contract expired but I know that Ill be happy for my patience in November.

That's kind of where I'm at too. I want to wait. Its really my mom and bro who want/need new phones. My mom is dead set on an iphone so I told her to wait and my bro really doesn't care. They both still prefer blackberry which is retarded but whatevs. I guess ill just make them wait. Our contract was up this past month. I refuse to switch because verizon is too expensive, att is too clogged and annoying, and sprint is not gsm yet.

Not happening. Maybe if I owned a business and needed something that size vs a tablet...
based on the replies looks like the t-mobile note sales will be poor.
maybe in a few weeks Tmobile will be selling it for $99.
I thought the note has pretty good battery life?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
It does have great battery life actually and for Corp guys it would have been a great phone a year ago. I'm still completely stunned that T has gone ahead with this. For the few that do buy it , and let's say number is 5 to 9000. Those people just signed a 2 year contract for a 1 year old phone.
Take sec and let that number set in.
3 weeks from now the airwaves will be blasted with news of the Note2. This puts everyone just about that rushed out to get the Note outside of the 14 day return policy. Dirty, oh so dirty but planned oh so well.
Now about 2 months from now att and maybe vzw will be getting the Note2. A brand new full of bad ass tech that from the rumors will be freaking killer.
So back to that 5 to 9000 people that got suckered into buying the Note, well their screwed for 2 more years on a already year old phone.
Don't think for one min that alot of those in that number set aren't going to feel like the got taken.
I would even bet that a number as high as 40% will be calling up *****ing and I would say 5% cut contact and leave. Those that stick it out will have such a bad taste in their mouth will never re-sign and I bet that number would be in the 30% range.
The thing is, it's not that the Note is a bad phone. It's just way late to the party and priced insanely wrong.
Let's say you do this right.
T-Mobile is asking $600 + for their phone retail , "a year old phone". When the Note2 hits you should be able to pick it up for about the same price or maybe 50 more from car phone warehouse etc. Then you have a choice, run your new note2 on T-Mobile or on a prepaid like simple mobile for like 50 for everything. Or you could wait and buy one from att when they get it.
Point is you have choices and don't feel like your stuck with just what
T-Mobile hands you.

Hi.Please post the reason you bought the sgy here. Its not the best one in the market and everyone would have a reason they bought shgy and y duos and noy the galaxy s,htc explorer etc.
For example:-Because you were broke at that time
Because You were influenced by your dad
Because you felt it was VFM etc
My Reason
I bought the sgyd as it was my first phone and my dad wouldnt loan me enough cash to buy a better one.:crying:

I didn't knew about android custom rom, cm stuff... If I knew that this phone can't play hd games and don't have cm I never buy that.. I would buy a mini or fit.
Btw I really impressed in the sgy TV ad in Indian channels..
why not ?
I bought this because it was the cheapest android phone I could get, I'm only 14 so my parents wouldn't buy a nexus or even xperia.
I earned some money on my own for the first time in my life. After buying my mom a small gift i decided to spent the rest on a new phone to replace my ageing symbian device .
I went to shop tried a few Nokias but was left unimpressed by UI then i picked up the demo galaxy y and played with it for a while and was blown away since it was my first encounter with android - bought it then and there.
And i don't plan on selling it any sooner either if i collect enough money i may buy an ipad or some other tablet but as of now sgy perfectly serves all my needs
Because I can't offered much money to buy high range mobile.
Becoz It was the best phone in my budget...
Tottaly noob to smartphones that days..
Knew nothing about android or anything...
Was having a old generation SPICE phone..
Phone looked good..was cheap and somewhere i read cheapest and the best smartphone...
Well i am still looking for the guy who made that comment...

I was stupid didn't know anything about android phones or smartphones in general and it was cheap lol if I knew then what I know now I'd probably of gotten a mid-range device as my first device really and truly can't wait to get rid of this this was good for like 7 days then all the features it lacked started rolling in.........next phone G NOTE 2!! lol
Hit THANKS you ungrateful bastard...plz
I bought this phone because... wait-a-minute! I got this phone from my dad because he had a tough time using it.
It was okay for a while because I finally had a touchscreen phone to play around with until I realized I can't play a lot of games coming from the market and that it didn't support flash. But then I discovered rooting then this forum, now i love tinkering (and bricking) with my SGY.
