Uh hi I rooted my Xperia Play R800i yesterday to try out a new rom and I went with
"GBTweaked" the problem is my phone isn't picking up any reception,I can't get the Wi-Fi to work (not my main concern),and can access my recovery menu.I have tried multiple apps to open the recovery menu, but none of them work,I really need help!
By the way I'm not great with phones, but if you think I am missing something please say so as I really want my phone to work and I would like to change the ROM back to the stock rom :/
Thanks in advance
Well, what kernel do you use? If you use a custom one like Doomkernel you can try to reflash it. Maybe you can reinstall your CWM.

Hey Guyz,
i unlocked by bootloader using fast boot method
then i rooted my phone using the same method and it was working fine.
Yesterday i installed CW rom and CWM autoinstaller , to reboot in recovery and installed a mod to bring reboot in Power Off menu options.. it intalled correctly.
But when i rebooted the phone, the sony ericcson logo appears again and again.. i.e it is stuck in boot loop.. m still able to enter in recovery but unable to boot my phone properly..
Please Help...
The First solution is to flash a stock firmware using flashtool.
But which Kernel and which Rom have you tried to flash?

k.. i'l try to flash 4.0.a.283 using fastboot..
BTW
I am noob.. Dont know anything about anything about kernel.. all i did was install Clock work rom.. When i opened it, it said, "you need to install CWM". So i installled CWM autoinstaller...
Now with everything installed, i booted into recovery and installed a mod ( which brings the option to reboot in Power Off menu). It installed correctly... Then i clicked on reboot system now.. That is when i realized that m stuck in boot loop..

You must first check the compatibilty of "reboot mod" with the firmware version you use.
Just check the firmware you have in your phone and make sure it matches with the firmware on which the mod is based.
@wayne
I have flashed my phone using fastboot method just like i did it when i was rooting my phone. And Thank GOD it is working fine now..
@KingWecked,
M still trying to figure out, where did i go wrong at the first place...
was it the CWM auto installer ??
or was it the Reboot mod ?? coz i downloaded the mod for xperia arc only..
Do we need to change that kernel thing after rooting ??
I don't know what the hell is a kernel; and after rooting i haven't done anything with my kernel. Should i ???
A kernel is the base of what Android runs

Before you install any mod,you must first check the firmware version you are using. You can find it out from Settings-->About Phone-->Build Number.
It contains the firmware version on which your phone is running Ex:4.0.a.283
.283 is the old version firmware and most of the mods dont work on this firmware. You must flash the latest firmware .42 in order to support the majority of the mods and themes available in this forum
And a kernel is very complicated thing.you must not mess with it unless you know what you are doing.Manipulating your kernel might brick your phone permanently. And if you want to know much further about kernels then search the forum and you must find loads of threads explaining about kernels and stuff related with it
@ KingWickedd
are u sure .283 is an old firmware
Coz initially i had "unrooted .62"
For rooting purpose i downloaded this firmware..
So can U please tell me where can i get " rooted 0.42 firmware" where i can start installing all mods right away..
Note: Multiupload links are not working ... Any other links ????

Yes I am sure its the old version where as .42/.62/.69 are the latest firmware versions. They have almost everything in common and they differ based on the regions they are released in.
For rooted .42 firmware..follow this link below..

Hi everyone !
3 weeks ago I installed the Xperia UHD 4.0 rom on my arc s following the indicated steps except for the root (my phone was rooted with eroot). Then I tried to install Greenify has recommanded by jader, but i noticed it always failed at hibernating apps. So I checked if I still had my phone rooted, in 2 ways : via Root Checker app, and via a method with Connectbot (if you want to know search "is my phone rooted").
I realized my phone isn't rooted anymore but i have CWM installed (don't know why but i can boot in CWM...), so I'm asking :
- Is it safe to reinstall xperia uhd ? (since i'm not root anymore)
- Any idea to get root back ?
If anything is missing, just tell me i'll add it
EDIT : i tried to reinstall UHD 4.0 but now I'm stuck at the sony logo. If someone is able to help that would save my life
And i tried SEUS, which tells me I have the most recent firmware.
Try installing SuperSU and see if you can regain root access. UHD comes rooted so you don't have to do anything to your phone unless you uninstalled Superuser which will make you lose root...

I know, that's the point : I didn't uninstall anything ...
Yep ! So I've just downloaded and opened the app. It tells me to update binary, i had to choose between "Normal" installation and "CWM installation".
I tried "Normal" and I got a german message which basically said "Superuser has been detected and it may causes conflicts, do you want to try to remove it ?". I pressed no, and got "Installation failed".
Then I tried CWM installation. It tells me it's going to reboot in recovery, and if nothing happens access recovery manually.
Concretely, it reboots, but normally (and nothing happens). So if I reboot in recovery, I have to install SuperSU from SD (with the zip given in the xda thread) ?

I assume you mean reflash from recovery mode ("install zip from sd card"), without wiping data and without formating /system. I'm trying right now.
EDIT : I tried, but now i'm stuck at the Sony logo . Everything went well, except the reboot failed... If you know what to do, like taking out and in the battery and try rebooting, it would be cool...

If you're using UHD4, it should come as a AROMA installer. Just select upgrade from existing installation. You will keep your data this way.

That's what i've done, but as said previously, I'm now stuck at the sony logo... I am going to search for some kind of unbrick method using flashtool (i'm going to try to reflash the stock firmware, then reroot via eroot, and reinstall UHD 4.0).
Finally reflashed stock .587 and rerooted via eroot, worked like a charm ! Thanks for your help by the way !

Hi,
Up until this time yesterday I thought I was relatively tech savy... Unfortunately the last 24 hours have proved otherwise!
I received the notification from Sony PC Companion to update to Lollipop, and without thinking about backing up 4 months worth of pictures / videos of my baby son, went ahead...
Unfortunately the update failed, and I was left with a phone in bootloop mode... and the only solution I found was to use Sony PC Companion to 'repair' it (which installed Lollipop), unaware that this would wipe the internal memory including all of said baby photos / videos. I haven't dared tell my wife yet, and have been up all night trying to find a way to recover the data....
Totally unfamiliar with the concept of bootloaders, rooting, etc... I investigated some recovery software options, assuming they would work in the same way as normal hard drives. It would appear that is the case, but in order to access the internal memory I've opened up (ie. confused) my brain with the more technical side of the Android OS. I've tried and failed to root the phone, as that seems to be the fundamental requirement of the various data recovery programs.
Enough of the summary, here are a few basic questions...
1. Can I root the Z1C in its current state? It's running Lollipop, bootloader unlocked (as far as I'm aware), USB debugging mode enabled, etc... If so, and I understand this is a basic question for this forum, but can someone please explain how? I've tried numerous tutorials and am totally lost...
2. If I can't root the phone as is, am I right to assume I need to downgrade the OS to KitKat or similar? Again, can someone please explain, step by step what is required...
3. Is there a simpler way to recover the internal data, or am I at least in the right ball park?
I really appreciate any help you guys can offer...
Thanks,
Tim
You can try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/son...-5-0-242-r3d-customized-ru-1279-3901-t3081309 , others have succeeded, i for some reason didn´t. But yes, go back to .107, root and then install pre-rooted Lollipop.

With unlocked bootloader u can always root any rom. Just install your favourite Stock ROM. I recommend a FTF File that you can flash with flashtool.
Then flash the FTF / ROM and after that, the Kernel with CWM Recovery like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620794
--> Working Kernel for KitKat 4.44 also for Lollipop 5.02:
Advance Stock Kernel with Recovery v04 (FW:14.3.A.0.757}

Now download the latest SuperSU ZIP form here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 and copy that to your SD card.
Finally restart your phone, press vol down when LED appears at bootup and flash SuperSu ZIP. --> now you are rooted.
You can also flash the latest dual recovery ZIP, if you want to return to original Stock Kernel:
To get the original Kernel of your Stock ROM back, use flashtool, select again the FTF file and uncheck all "Wipe settings" and also exclude all "flash settings" except the "KERNEL". Flash it and you are done.

Thanks for the advice and link. To be honest, even the instructions on that thread are beyond me at the moment... I know it's very basic for you guys, but can you please explain these steps in more detail:
- wipe system, data, cache, davik (all)
- flash this zip
What are the different FTF options listed below the main instructions? Firmware, Kernel Only and Without System?
Thanks,
Tim

Hi all. I have rooted my s4 mini using kingroot. I have installed adaway and xmod because they were my main reasons for rooting. But i'd like to go a bit deeper now and learn a bit more about rooting as im a novice. But before i can do that ive read that i should create a back up, am i right in thinking a nandroid and a back up are the same thing? Well anyway my problem is ive tried to create a back up using cwm rom recovery but my device is not supported. Ive also read something aboit phils cwm recovery 6 ( at least i think it was called that) but from my understanding i need access to a laptop or a pc to be able to take that route. I dont have access to a pc or laptop at the moment so im just here to ask if anybody can advise me on how i can create a back up for my device. My plan is to learn the ropes using this device as its an old device and when im more comfortable im going to root my galaxy alpha. Any help and answers will be appreciated, im not so great with tech and the lingo but im wanting to learn. Thanks
Unrooted
Well i have unrooted to be safe. My son plays with my phone and i dont feel safe without out a back up or nandroid. I would still like info so i can reroot n get adaway back and xmod for the unlimited lives on candy crush, and sandbox mode on clash of clans. If anybody has any info that could be of any use to me, even just a link to point me in the right direction it would be great.
Try installing TWRP for backups. i am also a beginner but i tried backing up the stock rom, flashing custome roms, And restoring the backups. Done this almost five times a week.
Here are files.

Some important steps from here
http://techbeasts.com/2014/05/08/install-twrp-2-7-recovery-on-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-how-to-guide/
Forgot to mention that my stock rom is 4.2.2 Jelly bean. I had flashed cm12.1 rom before, which triggered my knox to 0x1.
Thanks il check those out now
Yes twrp is a good recovery...i am using it too and it can be installed without a pc
Davidich could you direct me to a link or explain how i can install it without using a pc. Do i need root to install it or can i create recovery then reroot? Is it as simple as finding file and installing it by checking unknown sources. Then opening up twrp app and applying recovery? Or do i need to go into download mode to apply it? Any answers will be appreciated. Thanks
Well ive rooted again and installed twrp because i needed root access to enter twrp. When i open twrp it asks me to install busy box, i accept the request but it doesnt download. What is busybox? Do i need it to back up? Ive just read something about mounting system using terminal emulator and then that should allow busybox to download. Am i going in the right direction?
Please Anyone give me a backup of stock rom for Samsung galaxy s4 m919

Busy box can be downloaded directly from play store. As for installing a recovery without a computer well that's RISKY. There are apps that can help like Flashfire, Rashr and Flashify. These can flash various things without a custom recovery. BUT they are not guaranteed to work. My experience is with Flashfire by Chainfire. With this I was able to flash a stock ROM without a computer. But the app when I last looked was in beta stage. Also if something goes wrong you will need a computer to fix... If it hasn't bricked your phone. Sooo much safer thru Odin on a computer.

Yes,i used flashify.First i flashed a recovery.img(downloaded from xda) and when i got a custom recovery,i flashed the last version of twrp.at first yes i get a soft brick because flashed a recovery for i9195L but then i re flashed another for i9195 and that's ok.if you want to try: from here download recovery.img ----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2589011 ,when you flashed the recovery...flash this one https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347763032 from recovery
