I want to try to determine what is the best rom 2.09 Froyo - based for HTC Desire.
In the last week I've tried a large number of ROMs. I've really liked 2 of these:
- Roufianos V6 (It's the one that I'm using at the moment)
- OpenDesire 3.0.4 (I know that the 3.0.5 is out but I haven't tried it yet)
Obviously there are many other excellent rom but I haven't got the time to try them, such as:
- Alex V1.1 official OTA cooked by Paul from MoDaCo (I've not tried it yet but I thing it is good)
- Lambros Custom Rom r3.1 --- I've tried it: in my opinion it's the best. Very fast, stable, no problem, no crashes. The chef always helps you and give you what you ask him! Fantastic! (link hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745447 )
- Pays-ROM
- Others....
Well, I don't know what is better.... can you help me choosing a ROM please?
If you thing that there are better ROMs instead of the ones that I've written, please tell me about them.
Thanks to all.
GiO

IMO this comes down to the "SENSE UI",
you wanna have SENSE and all the HTC bells and whistles? LeeDroid 1.8 or Neophyte NextSense 4.0
you don´t give a damn about SENSE (like me)? OpenDesire 3.0.5 is just AWESOME.
Both options are really good but it´s a question of personal preference I think.

I don't know if is necessary for me... I don't really like the launcher, I use Launcher Pro Plus and it works great! I also really like the Sense app, like contacts, music, app sharing, and apps like that... I really don't know what to do :S

has Leedroid gotten rid of the SD card bug now? i found a lot of bugs with 1.7 in fact i would go as far to say it was the worst rom i have tried (and i have flashed nearly all within the last 2 weeks.
i use neophyte nextsense aswell its v good. i haven't used a non-sense rom since the defrost one which was using the nexus froyo (back in june i think).
however from looking at the 'post your screenshots' thread in the themes and apps section i'm tempted to go back to non-sense as some of the roms and mods make it look really cool.

what does everyone think is the coolest / sexiest looking setup?
Neophyte 1.6. You will not go wrong. If you think those other roms are good, you will ejaculate in your pants with a neo Rom. I think that first neophyte Rom comes down to a fluke of nature. His latest Rom nextsense is good and I enjoy playing. But the occasional bug. Still better than anything else I believe.
I prefer modaco official version.
Neophyte 1.6 as said. You will not find a more stable or better ROM imo.
why don't you give a go on my rom....i saw you haven't mentioned it....
the latest r3.1 version is as stable a rom can be and i have 2 versions.....one if you want all the HTC apps and one with HTC Sense but without the apps, just launcher, widgets and main apps (people, dialer, mail, calendar)

My brother tried it and sad me that is a very fast and stable rom. The problem is that it's based on 2.06 relase... What are the differences between the 2.06 relasa and the 2.09 one (the official OTA rom) ?

believe me i tried a lot roms and not cause it's mine but cause it's true you will like it a lot...STABLE AND FAST....battery life is on the good side...i was on holidays last week for 7 days and i charged the phone just once (light use though, 10-15 calls, 20-30 pics daily and a couple sms) and in 7 day night i had to charge again...with medium-high use you can get 1.5 days if you charge properly....
BUT ANYTHING anyone says is not true until you try something...this is what i think....it may work on you and don't work on me who knows

What about the battery? How often do you have to charge the phone? In every rom I've tried the battery sucks!
as for the battery i think you can't compare it just right when you flash the rom....myself i do one full charging cycle and then rate a rom's battery life in order to get the full idea....
flash the rom, charge it till 100% (unplug before discharge) and then see how it does

hi lambrospower. I am just downloading your rom and will give it a try mate. Going back to your battery comment, this is a question that i have been thinking about for some time, but never got around to asking anyone, i hope you may know the answer for me? Since i have had my desire (3 months) the only way that i have ever charged it is with USB. Maybe once i have done a full charge with the 240v adaptor, the rest of the time it is plugged into my PC either charging or as a disk drive, my question is, will that make a difference to my overall battery performance? because i havent been charging it with the mains adaptor will my battery be "weaker" than a person that has always used the in-wall charger? I seem to get really bad battery life with most roms that i have tried (and believe me, i have tried a lot!!) yesterday i went out for a few hours, around 3 hours, battery was at 100% when i left, 3 hours later 55%!! now in my eyes that is a hell of a lot of decrease...... This was with NeYophyTeNexTSense rom (but i cant fault NeYo, he is a good chef, hats off to the lad, this is why i think its me thats either doing something wrong (settings) or it is in fact a battery problem??
Hi guys, I really like OpenDesire, but it's stock Google ROM (or based thereon) so it's got no FM Radio functionality. A question to all users of stock ROMs: how do you guys cope with the absence of an FM Radio knowing that hardware-wise your Desire supports it but the software does not have it? As for me personally, I've been tilting back and forth between OpenDesire-like ROMs and SenseUI-like ROMs, and it's still bugs me. On the one hand, I love the stock ROM for its cleanliness and overall looks (without Sense bells & whistles), but that I don't have the FM radio keeps bugging me like hell. Can anyone share their experiences?
Hi,
if i flash HCDR will i lose any funtions on CM7?
Yes, you will loose USB among other things. Besides, why would you want to install HCDR kernel? It's old, not maintained and not optimized for CM7.
Battery life is a lot better.
Although im thinking of going to 2.2.1 cause CM7 doesnt like my device (lots of force closes and lag even with over clock) Which one would you recommend? I have tested Wildpuzzle but it isnt updated anymore! What about Jokerdroid?
If battery life is so horrible, you must be doing something wrong. I get easily 3-4 days with light usage. In fact, right now I've gone 6 days without recharge, and still has 60% left. But phone has been mostly sleeping during this time as I've been working on another phone.
You get fc's and lag even with overclock? That's kinda obvious, you're overclocking too much. Clock it down a little until it's stable.
Other roms I have no experience with, so I don't know.
The longest I've ever had is 2 days low usage on stock!
I've tried jokerdroid but for me its to customized with theming and stuff. It also overheats loads without overclock! Im gonna experiment with different roms and write some reviews on my website. http://www.andro-tech.tk. (Not so much on it at the moment Cause of holidays and school but I will work hard to add more!)

Nah, it's just the Tattoo, which was my daily phone before the Wildfire. Been working on porting kernel 2.6.35 to it.
Just got my brother a Desire. He is new to Android.
On all of my Android devices, I've never used MIUI, but he likes the iOS look.
I have just installed the MIUI-XJ on it, and it does seem very sleek and I love how it just seems like a totally different phone but my concern is if it would be stable enough for him to use daily? He would be leaving the country and doesnt know how to mod and such. That being said, he needs something reliable.
I think its either MIUI or coolexe's new BravoS ROM, with Espier launcher installed.

yes... its very much reliable n fast rom as compared to other roms.... i m using it for last 3 months..... near zero fc... very unique look.... very much customizable... m in love with miui xj rom.
Very much indeed, it was my best Rom with loads of support. Teach him how to update OTA from MIUI and tell him to read MIUI thread. Within a month he will be addicted to flashing every week. Also, I recommend to use class 6 SD card with EXT4 with 1.5 Gb. For enough space to install apps

if he isnt going to be updating the rom for a long time, would it still be okay
Ive been running MIUI for 4 months now and its really stable. However I recommend MIUI AU instead of XJ, I've tried both and AU seems alot more slick. If you want to migrate just use the MIUI backup app and then flash AU and then restore from backup. Everything will be restored exactly as it was apart form widgets.
I also recommend using ManU 1.4 HAVS-AXI-CFS. from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883598
TLDR: yes its stable but try MIUI-AU
Another vote for MIUI-AU (miui-au.com). Been using it for over 9 months without any problems.
I have switched to other roms every so often to see what's changed but I'm always going back.
MIUI is very stable. Up until previous week I was still using the version from a month ago. The weekly changes are usually small bug fixes and translation updates.

What exactly do you mean? I'm using XJ's build for almost a year now and am very satisfied with everything. I'm using MAN U 2.0 HAVS/AXI GB kernel... Everything from battery life to phone performance and smoothness is awesome. And there is no lag whatsoever, just sometimes when I download and install apps and do some multitasking there might be some slight freezing until the app is installed.

I think they're referring to the ICS version which is due out soon. 1.12.30 is still gingerbread so you'll be fine using that.
Note - MIUI roms are released every Friday/Saturday

IMO. No.
Don't.
New updates come out every week fixing bugs every week.
If he wont be updating it, dont use it. Having said that MIUI is awesome. But not for the average user.
Give him CM7. Its very stable and has been for the last 4 months solid stable, with no need for an update to fix bugs yyet.

I have used MIUI ROMs for a long time and I would say they are quite stable but I get bored with them really soon. I always come back to Sense 3.5 ROMs. I just love it ..
mine is currently Blackice 1.60. whats yours?
Are you from the past or what?
Seriously, now there is CM10 and even CM11, noone is using these old ROMS anymore...
Sorry?
Not trying to get the credit off the jellybean and ics devs, they do an amazing job, but ics and jellybean are more dead than CM7. They just reached a dead end. There are betas, alphas and unsolved bugs/critical features for ages on all of them!
I just want my phone fully working. I'm not a beta tester.
I'm using CM7.2 and it rocks. But sometimes I go back to BlackIce.
well IceColdSandwich, official ICS MIUI, some sense ROMs, XGS series, etc. are all practically bug free. CM10 is almost as good and still improving.
Tried a few ICS and JellyBean versions.
All had camera, mms, lag problems and, in general, a unstable behavior.
And it seems they are here to stay.
I'am sure you haven't tried then MiUi ICS nor XGS series.
Most AOSP/AOKP/CM ICS ROMs are perfectly fine, same for all of the newer 3.6 ROMs and some of the 4.0's.
But I've recentally taken a thing for cm7 based ROMs (again).
I've used 7.2RC (Official), Blackice, hydrogen, both oxygen ports. I'll be adding MookeOS soon as well.
I think Blackice and Hydrogen are the best out there. Oxygen is a little too stripped down for me, and 7.2 could be lighter (as demonstrated by Blackice and Hydrogen).
Hydrogen has going in it's favor: Extremely fast (fastest ROM ever, after reboot everything INSTANTLY works), extremely fast mount speeds (with a class 4 mounted onto my computer, read speeds averaged around 3.5mbps, with other ROM's it's around 1.5-1.7mbps).
Blackice: Great battery, same amount as Cm7 (I've used CM7 6 hours straight, screen down at the lowest, airplane mode, still had 40% left), pretty fast (you don't really need faster), and lockscreen widgets is working.
Against Hydrogen: Average battery life (2 minutes per 1%), lockscreen widgets (in cm controls) isn't working. I don't care really.
Against Blackice: not as ridiculously fast as hydrogen.
tl;dr IF you want as much speed as possible, and having only a day of battery life is okay, then go with hydrogen. If you want to really use your phone, and you don't mind not having a near dual core CPU and 1gig of open RAM speeds, then go with that
I personally prefer Hydrogen a little more.

Hello everybody.
I've rooted and modded the Samsung Galaxy W of my girlfriend but now i'm facing a lot of strange battery issues: the battery drains really fast and she hates it.
I've tried CM9 RC6 and SlimBean but the problem is still here. I've got no time to waste on trying 20 ROMs so i'm asking you a suggestion.
She was really excited about the stock ROM. It was fair enough for her, apart from the bloatware that couldn't be uninstalled and some random reboots and freeze.
So, i'm searching for something like that:
Great battery life
Stable and reliable ROM
Possibly CM based or AOSP
In my opinion, a CyanogenMod 7 would be great, but i can't find it for the SGW.
Could you please help me?
Thank you!

My honest advice:
Do not consider anything except Stock ROM with Value Pack or CM9.
Its not that those other coders are not talented. But - it's like with those small, heavily tuned / modified Honda Civics driving around: Their owner / creators and other enthusiasts love them for their custom mods, but you really could/would not give such a car to your girldfirend, mother, or whatever.
sooner or later you run into problems that will never be fixed, nothing for daily usage by a non-IT-person.
With beta 6, i guess you mean RC6?
Battery lasting, the missing fm radio and a sometimes not-100%-stable camera would be the only drawbacks i see for it.
Performance and overall fluidity is at least one class over the stock rom, really remarkable.
Maybe there will be better battery performancee with CM9 in the future, as it is not really clear atm, what causes the impacts.
But i think its unlikely that it will ever reach the Stock ROM under this aspect, as the new features are simply likely to consumer more cpu cycles then before.

CM9 RC6 was actually my first choice, because a friend of mine is using it without any problem. Anyway, i've experienced the huge battery drain even with CM9 RC6.
I can give a try to CM9 RC7 but i'm wondering: wouldn't it be better to choose a ROM with the 2.x kernel?

Yes, i meant RC6, sorry.
Sadly, battery performance is crucial for my girlfriend. Anyway, i just want a "normal" battery drain; what i'm experiencing is a very massive battery drain, totally abnormal.

They're just customized CyanogenMod, and i've already have problems with CyanogenMod. If i would try CM another time, i would stick to CM9 Unofficial
Even if Queen Anne's Revenge is aimed to best battery life and it's made by an italian (as me ). It's interesting...
I think i'm gonna flash one of those modified stocks! Wish me luck!
At the end of all my tests, i've decided to keep using F.A.W. (Rls 3, from the same branch of Rls 2): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626827
It's simply a powered Samsung stock but it's rocking stable, really fast, enough good looking and with a huge battery life!
Perfect for my girlfriend!
