[Q] Kindle Fire: Recovery not working, rom freezes - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there guys. Issue is I rooted and installed AOKP on my kindle fire. I installed it (but not the gapps) and realized I had not wiped /data/ and /cache/, so I did through CWMR. It froze. After about 10 minutes, I decided to risk it and forced it to shut down by holding the power button. I can get it to boot into AOKP, but it runs really slowly for about 5 seconds then stops altogether. I tried to wipe /data/ and /cache/ in CWMR again, but, as soon as I booted into it, it gave me all these "cannot find /cache/recovery/command" and the like messages (about 5) before showing me options. When I tried wiping /data/ and /cache/ it said that it could not mount /data/ or /cache/. I then decided to try and restore my backup of stock, but when I did it said it could not mount /sdcard/. I then replaced CWMR with TWRP via fastboot (which does work), but TWRP won't get past the splashscreen. ADB does not work in either the Rom nor in TWRP, but I can issue fastboot commands. I have tried the Firekit LiveUSB repair kit as well as manually deleting userdata, cache, and media through fastboot. I have deleted and replaced recovery via fastboot as well as replacing boot with hashcode's boot.img from his latest kernel.
None of these seem to have done the least thing (except replacing CWMR with TWRP which changed the recovery to TWRP but still doesn't let anything work). I'm afraid to ask it, but have I BRICKED an impossible-to-brick tablet?
PS: My bootloader is FFF V1.2.

That is because you used cwmr to flash it and no twrp get back into recovery and restore your backup and replace cwmr with twrp cwmr has been pulled

The firekit liveusb fixes the partition table. I don't think thats the issue. (unless something else is wrong)

It's a bug of prior versions 2.1.1 of TWRP. You can change boot mode in KFU. I urge you to flash new version of FFF as well as TWRP for ease of your life. Just select them in KFU.

but I back up I can do nothing because it takes me to recovery.

should I try updating the fff for now ?
link is probably right use kfu to reset your bootmode to normal if adb status is online

KFU is "Kindle Fire Utility" and you are running it right now.
It has a "Bootmode" menu. Select it.
You will then see a "Normal" item. Select it.
This will set your bootmode to normal so you don't end up in recovery all the time.
Read this for some basic concepts about how your Kindle Fire works...

When you can get your Kindle Fire to boot normally again, look at this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935
At a minimum, upgrade your TWRP to 2.1.1 using the script above. Also consider upgrading FireFireFire to 1.4a.
Im reading that thread, I will do it and the I will tell you the result .

I flashed the rom in a normal way.
wipe wipe wipe the flash
online is good select 1 in kfu bootmode menu then select 1 again normal

Possible brick, left with no files whatsoever on my KF

I have looked through the Kindle Forums and it seems I cannot find something that matches my problem, but if I missed the correct thread please link me to it if necessary.
So I've finally bricked my device after no problems since I've owned it. I had been on Twa_Priv's CM10 ROM and loved it and have had no problems whatsoever other than my lack of storage. I had a backup of my original rooted Amazon ROM on my device, and I planned on reverting to stock to start over so I can have a decent amount of memory. Little did I know, and I now learned my lesson for this, but without reading XDA before taking any action I went ahead and factory reset the device through the settings and left the room. I come back, for a second I see code running on the blank screen and then it reboots straight to TWRP.. That's when I checked my files and saw that when my KF was wiping files, it literally wiped EVERYTHING except for the TWRP folder of course., including important android system files a long with it. I've read similar threads where they were stuck with just TWRP, but from what I've read this is not the same.
If there is anything I can do to just get some form of Android running so I can revert to stock from there, I would be very much appreciative if someone could let me know. Thanks.
Will restoring the backup not do what you're looking for?
Well that's the thing, it even wiped my restores too somehow.. Pretty much at the moment my Kindle is like a really big flash drive with a screen :/
Do you want pure stock (no root, no TWRP, no FFF) or custom rooted stock (keep root, TWRP, FFF, and have Gapps included)?
For now just pure stock, I can always re-root and all the good stuff when I'm willing to move away from Amazon's limitations since I know the information is out there for how to do so.
Then again if I can get a custom rooted stock that would be fine too, I forget the Amazon app store doesn't have good applications.

Are you able to mount your sdcard in TWRP?
Yes the SD card was mounted by default and I am able to unmount it and remount it as well.

Good.
Download MoDaCo and transfer it to your sdcard (using mount),
Wipe > "Factory Reset",
Flash.
Wipe dalvik and cache (optional),

Alright Thanks, I will let you know how it goes once I have everything downloaded and flashed
Sadly it didn't boot. It continues to just boot into recovery even after factory resetting and flashing the ROM.
When your device boots, do you see a blue Kindle Fire logo?
No, I just see the FFF logo and the power lights orange on its own and it goes straight to TWRP, I've even tapped the power to see if it was possibly stuck in, but it's not.
Download and flash FFF1.4.zip via TWRP and reboot. (don't wipe)
When you see the blue Kindle Fire logo, hold the power button until you see the boot options appear at the bottom.
Choose "Reset boot mode".

if u dun mind, can u upload these to dropbox? (in my area, mediafire is blocked )

I can't revert to stock recovery .. it stuck in waiting device (cuz i think usb debugging is not on)
My room is already on B510.
I think the problem (stuck on huawei logo and there is no os) occurs bcoz I accidentally wipe all data (Dalvik Cache, System, Cache, Custom Storage, Data, Internal Storage) via TWRP.
What can I do to install OS?
download this stock recovery first
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23252070760973625
^ after you download extract and rename it's file to recovery.img
then
If you can still access your twrp try rebooting in bootloader mode then>
use your adb /fastboot on pc
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
then follow the instructions above for how to reinstall your android os
also to download those mediafire files try using http://onlineproxyfree.com/
also in the future when using twrp never format internal or external memory..
---------- Post added at 09:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 AM ----------
also make sure you have adb drivers loaded? try this maybe http://adbdriver.com/upload/AdbDriverInstaller.exe

Hello,
Thanks again bro. but i still have problems.
in CMD, when i typed "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", it's still in waiting for device.
For "onlineproxyfree(dot)com", it's also blocked by FortiGuard Web Filtering.
Yeah.. I won't format internal / ext again
I already installed adb drivers to my laptop.
hmm try rebooting your phone directly into fastboot> hold vol- and power continuously till it boots in fastboot>plug phone back in> then try flashing the recovery again
also make sure to replace your drivers with the ones in the software i provided the link for, also remove any huawei pc sync or whatever the name of the pc software was, it sometimes clashes with adb
maybe try using tor for downloading from mediafire.

How to update TWRP if you're stuck in TWRP

Hey,
I've tried to update my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 to the newest CM11 version, but I wasn't careful enough to update my TWRP 2.4.4.0 beforehand to the newest version, resulting in a Kindle that is stuck in recovery (TWRP).
I managed to load with ADB the newest TWRP version (2.7) on the device, but I can't seem to be able to install the file from TWRP (it only recognizes the CM11 and Google apps files in the folder, but not the kfhd8-twrp-2.7.0.0-recovery.img file I loaded).
Any chance anyone knows to make this happen so I can get back to using the Kindle?
(unfortunately, I failed to do a backup and I don't want to wipe everything since I have a quite a few files that I won't be able to restore)
Thanks!

Why not try and revert back to stock recovery then sideload one of the Official Stock ROMs...that tends to fix everything normally...you'll need to backup your data.

Your bootloader will remain unlocked....after the phone boots, you can flash TWRP again and then SuperSu to get root on that ROM

Why not try and revert back to stock recovery then sideload one of the Official Stock ROMs...that tends to fix everything normally...you'll need to backup your data.

Some easy tools but for this, I think all you'll need is to flash stock recovery then follow the instructions on the OP site to sideload 3.2.8

Ok, I'll try that, thanks.
Maybe my boot partition is corrupted? That could be why I'm unable to boot. If you could please upload the a backup of that partition?
Or is my bootloader corrupted? Since I can't boot into system through fastboot or the recovery, isn't it the bootloade's fault? It doesn't send the proper command, and thus it boots into the recovery instead of the OS.
My current connection isn't good enough for an upload. it could be the case but side loading a stock ROM will fix any issue. What ROM did you flash to get you into this situation?

And what ROM were you coming from?
Try the most recent TWRP. https://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=22429 I had my problems with a full recovery once, too. In my case it never recovered my /data partition though. If this fails you have to sideload a recent OOS Image by OFFICIAL recovery
