I'm running CM9 alpha 4. Just wondering what the best/most recent custom kernel for flashing would be?

i would use the FE22 plus (Plus = unlocked recovery, initd, bootanim, usb-ms, adb-root)
located here
remember to use the EL26 cwm
There's a thread stickied right in the development section that has pretty much every kernel you need. Also the only kernel you should use on cm9 are the cm9 ones. The one listed above will cause the ROM not to boot past the samsung logo.

LOL Last I checked there is no FH13 repack for CM10, FH13 is a TouchWiz kernel you cant just flash it with an AOSP rom.

also the fact that, and I do believe, that the kernel included with CM10 is based off of sbrissen's kernel, which is based off of the smdk4210 common kernel, or simply, the international sgs2 kernel, which would need certain proprietary files from the international sgs2 in order for the phone to boot.

right so i think kernal is doing great only thing is battery life is kinda deadly but overall rom is very smooth and i think this will be my daily driver.
i just wannna find the right modem so i dont have alot of LoS issues
just rooted the phone and i cant seem to find a cwm anywhere for this current FI27 build, anyone know when that will be
Rwilco's Sticky in the Dev Section has the latest recoveries. Agat63's repacks and ACS customs. Source builds by Agat63, Rujelus22 and Sleshepic..
Each Dev has thread links to their respective kernels.
Chris41g's (Team Epic) last CWM based was FF18. He has said that he may resume his builds but after his work on CM Official Status work with our phone.

Just be aware custom kernels cause your 4g download speed to go to ****.

No wonder! I just started noticing that. I don't use 4g much, but when I did the other week, it was crappy.

If one is using a GB kernel and a JB Rom are you truly running JB.
Well no you won't be running JB because it wouldn't boot with a GB kernel

You tell me.
You used el26 kernel to flash cm10 but then cm10 came with its own kernel.

As they said. Once you flash a rom the kernel in that rom replaces the one that was on the device. CWM6 will be pretty easy to identify upon boot versus the CWM5 in the el26 kernel a quick boot into recovery will be a good sign for you. Could always go into the phone information and look at the current kernel.
I just downloaded El26 kernel and installed CM 10.1 onto my phone. I am now looking for the latest compatible kernel and modem with Cyanogenmod 10.1 for the Epic 4G Touch. I see JB TW kernels and modems but I do not understand if they are compatible with CM or do I have to use the latest ICS kernel and modem with CM for right now? Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.

CM 10.1 comes with its own kernel. You should use that. There is no need to flash another kernel.
As for modems, any of the ICS modems should work fine. Lots of people like FI27. Or, If you're already on ICS, just keep that modem. There is no need to flash another modern in that case.
Hope that helps.

EL29, FF18, FH13, FI27, and FL24 have had pretty good or better results for most users: I'd try those first, then if none of those give you acceptable performance (which is unlikely), move on to the ICS leaked modems.

Hi, I know this is a bit of a noob question, but I want to flash a new kernel, and I don't know which kernels are safe to flash. I'm running CM 10.1 Wild for the Night with CWM 6.0.3.3 . I have a EL29 modem and the current kernel is something like 3.0.64-CM-q31f128d. As to why I want to flash a new kernel it's because I have an audio problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2374061) and other people with the same problem, but the GT-I9100 version of the s2, have reported it fixed by flashing the dorimanx kernel. However, I can't flash that one because it's only for the GT-I9100 right? So my question is which kernel can I flash?
I believe the only current AOSP kernels are the standard CM one (and its derivatives) and the LightningZap kernel. The CM one is the standard one in most of the AOSP ROMS.

Yeah I believe the cyanogenmod one is what I currently have. Is it possible to flash the LightningZap kernel using Mobile Odin while keeping my current Cyanogenmod 10.1 setup? Thanks for the quick reply!
As long as there is a tar for it, yes. If they have a zip, you can flash from your current custom recovery. Either way nothing will change but kernel and recovery.
