12hours 45mins of screen on time. Believe it or not! - HTC One X

Here is the proof.
I am on InsertCoin 6.3.1 with bricked kernel.
My settings were
WiFi off, 3g off, Display Brightness Minimum.
I just used all the screen on time for reading a pdf file in ezpdf reader.
Just 20mins of voice call and 15 mins on XDA app through WiFi. Nothing else!
If you don't believe, try with these settings and report.
I am not trying to fool anyone. Just posting this to mention that our phone does have this power. No Offence please
Thanks to Baad for such a beautiful rom.

So you had a blankpage on your PDF reader app without touching the phone for 12 hours?
Seems abit pointless when on a stock Rom I ran the battery tester on full brightness for 1 hour and dropped to 92% thats 8% per hour.
100/8=12.5
My screen on time would've been 12h30m what's the big deal if I havnt used my phone...
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

Blank PDF? I never said that. Its a 350 page file, which I read for 12hours. Without touch the phone I don't think I can scroll 350pages

That's impressive! Must try this rom... 23 h with battery with 12 hour screen on... Absolutely flawless!

setting brightness is all well and good but if i'm outside then it would be unusable, nice times though

if the phone screen was just on and without touching we can get more than 12 hours on screen post your pdf viewer time please.

@ nikorette 12 hours + on low brightness i can believe but 12hours+ with full brightness i cannot, people struggle to get past 3-4 hours screen on time with brightness on full so i don't know how you came to that conclusion. Must of calculated wrong.

I don't think its possible to post an app used time. In the battery stats the app which we use will only show the CPU total and CPU foreground time (It was showing as 53 and 47mins)

Not convinced, sorry just being honest.
Maybe if you gave a bit more details like click on the graph so one can see the cell on, the screen alone with whatever below in blue and also an individual image of the PDF time.

Thanks, but I already charged my mobile to 70%. I don't think I can get those stats back. Honestly, I am not here to convince someone or something with these stats. Just to state that our HTC One X isn't bad at all

It's the going rate on devices like these with beautiful screens. The SG3 is no better with an inferior display so we aren't doing too badly really

I was very disappointed with SG3s looks and specs.
Cheers!

Amazing battery life on 4.0.4

I flashed Paul's 4.0.4 ROM a few days ago and my battery life has greatly improved. I wouldn't normally make a new thread about something like this but I've seen a lot of people complain about poor battery life. Hopefully this ROM helps others as much as it helped me. The ROM is still in beta but it's surprisingly stable.
I always keep my brightness at 40%

Yeah, that's pretty low for a day and a half worth of usage. We already know that the Galaxy Nexus idles like a champ.
He still has 60% left so he's still got a lot of usage out of that charge. Could be looking at 2 days at that rate but yeah you don't really use the phone that much do you.

I've seen as low as 0-1% battery lost over 8 hours of sleeping before. So that plus WiFi for a full day isn't hard. I've been at 75% battery before with a full 24+ hours used but it was on Wifi with little screen usage and minimal things like texting and short calls and not much else.

I've managed 2 hours 40 minutes screen on time over 42 hours with eight percent left leaving brightness on auto, using AOKP and Franco 16.2.

I second this, another thing is half the time people forget to mention their on AT&T not on Verizon, and they compare their 2 day battery life on GSM to an LTE phone...
My biggest battery hog is exchange syncing every 15 minutes, and with that and LTE with nothing but stock apps in the background I can get 2, 2 1/2 hours of on screen time within a day

Battery Stats Thread

So I was wondering if anyone who has their device already could post some screenshots of their battery usage, screen time etc?
I know there have been some thrown around numerous thread but just thought it would be useful if people would post in one place?
Thanks
just wanna share some battery life stats..
1st power up of the phone.. did a full charge with phone off, once charging light changed to green, i powered up the phone.. 1st thing i notice.. it is not fully charged to 100%..
next thing to take note, the entire duration the phone is on is an additional hr plus.. i rebooted the phone once so im not sure what is the actual duration the phone is powered by the battery..
all in all, about 3hr+ with high usage of the phone.. notice how the phone was awake most of the time and the screen was on most of the time too..
cheers..

Whats your screen on time?
1st post so I hope it's helpful.
I'm a big fan of the phone & love it, there are a few small issues I've noticed & I'll post these in the relevant thread.
People keep saying the battery life is dreadful but it doesn't seem much worse than my original Desire on similar use.
After the first full charge last night I plugged in the charger when the warning came on at 9%:
11 hours 2 minutes on battery, screen used 75% of the power while on for 4 hours 31 minutes.
Everything else used a few % each.
Brightness was on auto at approx 50% most of the time and on full for about half an hour; indoors I wouldn't want it as bright as that.

Hi
Thinking about this phone or the one s. Just a quick q regarding the documented poor battery. Could i go out for the day - say for 15/16 hours send the occasional texts maybe a couple of photos/videos and the occasionally browsing the web - to check football scores etc etc.. should this handle that ok ?
is a pocket charger the way to go ?

That's how I intend to use the phone tomorrow, so i'll soon let you know.
The thing with this phone that is superb, there is hardly any drain when your not using it. It's extremely good for idle power saving.
dunno about you guys but i'm getting insane numbers in standby...
overnight i lose 1% with wifi, data and autos-sync on....
it's the first android phone that sleeps properly when screen is off...there's nothing keeping it awake.
i'm on 1.26 by the way
Well I don't think it's that bad on battery given how much screen time i've had....three and a half hours.
Only got 2% left so going to put it back on charge. These are my final stats for my first day after a 13hour charge

Trying to decide whether mine needs to go back or not basically.
How many charge cycles did it take to get to this stage?

I want to know what you can do to get 4 and half hours screen time.
I mean, unless your just looking at the homescreen constantly there must be either WiFi usage or 3G going on. Unless of course, you were texting for three hours straight.

You can game & watch movies without 3g or WiFi.
As I'm on unlimited data, I think I will perform a test of constant H/3G streaming,
as on my SGS2, I could easily kill the battery with less than an hour screen on time. (less than 8hrs total use - streaming for only 4/5hrs was enough to kill it - screen off aswell)
... Screen on time isn't everything.
& as I stream a lot, it's a test I could easily do, & one I need to know the results of for myself.
Hopefully my HOX will outperform my ex-SGS2 in this particular battery test.
... Streaming over mobile data, truly does eat battery, but I hope it's a long test.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Half an hour on max brightness with screen set to never turn off only took 10% so you got a point there.
Screen time on is a good guide to actual usage though, if the screen is on then the phone is being used. So out of a 14 hour odd day on battery you only use it for a few hours seems a bit poor.
I'm envious of people who seem to get over 4 hrs real world "usage".

Which Rom has more on screen time?

I am stock and unrooted HOX and I have 5 hours on screen time.
I need more on screen time than this as I travel a lot with heavy usage of phone.
I do believe that custom rom has more on screen time as they are tweaked for better performance.
Please share your on screen time and the Rom name in this post so that I can use that.

He might be on edge only. Which in return, would mean that's not that great battery life for 2G.
Anyways, try Touch x-treme ROM. Dev is pretty great and his work on the i9100 was known to have some of the best battery life and hes trying to do the same here on the One X making battery optimized ROM
That the best screen time I've ever seen on a smart phone

are you serious? thats sad.........I could get more than that on my Galaxy Nexus with 3G enabled. Straight web browsing with no standby I could hit 7 hours.
Plus, the Snapdragon S4 One X with straight 3G web browsing can hit over 9 hours of screen on time. Wi-fi only airplane mode the Int'l and S4 One X can hit over 10 hours etc....
if you turn off syncing, wifi GPS and the like you get much more battery life, i'm pretty sure its the auto sync for HTC facebook/twitter that drains the battery.

Well, since there are no custom kernels yet, I suspect screen on time to be similar.
You can change the governer, lower the brightness, etc.
Or just get an external battery pack to charge from, cheap, easy, reliable.
How is that possible? At 2 hrs with screen on my battery is dead, no gaming just browsing (not much).

Very poor battery despite reviews?

Had my Note 2 since Saturday and the battery seems really poor to think everyone reviewing them said they were fantastic.
Day 1 from full charge to 2% I had 1 day 8 hours

Day 2 from full charge to 6% I had 17 hrs 10 mins
Don't seem to have any rogue apps from battery monitors I've tried which makes sense as I've only downloaded about 10 apps.
Always have WiFi and GPS on which I always do on any phone, and have auto brightness off and set manually to just under half way.
I have dropbox set up to automatically upload camera pictures but under battery monitor this only uses 0.5% of battery use.
I also seem to have a faulty S Pen which sometimes seems too sensitive as it'll draw or open menus/apps with the pen about 1cm from the screen, and other times the pen doesn't recognise the air/hover mode and I have to press firmly to draw.
Any ideas?
Between this and the over sensitive S Pen, I'm beginning to think I just have a faulty phone!?
If it was as easy as taking it to a store I would, but I received it free with a 2 year contract from an online company in the UK called Affordable Mobiles who seem to have pretty good reviews. They've said if I want an exchange or them to have a look at it I'd have to send it back and wait 2-3 days which I can't do really as I don't have a spare phone - but at the same time I don't want to start rooting the phone and messing about with launchers if it is a fault.
Thanks
Turn off gps. Thats sucking away your battery mate. Turn it on only when u need it.

IMO, to get more than 1 day with WiFi & GPS constantly on is good. On my Note 2, I am usually left with around 30% of battery left at the end of the day but I never have GPS turned on unless I need it, only my WiFi is on.

So why are you posting this exact same message in multiple threads without explanation?
Try resetting the phone and check it for another day without installing any third party apps if it gives the same result that it must be a faulty phone. Hope it helps.

Thanks guys, I'll try resetting it as suggested and see how it goes for a day or two.
Hope it's just me expecting too much cos I love the phone otherwise and don't want to send it back lol
You didn't mention what screen time you had, that's the most important of all...

Not sure how you find that out tbh, all I can see is that percentage bar under the battery that I posted

You just press the screen icon in the stats.

You should judge your battery stats from your screen on time. Regular usage with sync and wifi and data enabled should get you between 5 and 8 hours, but it's possible to reach 10 and beyond with low brightness and no connectivity. If it's below 4, you can start thinking that something is wrong if you didn't do any crazy gps navigation or something, and start from there.

Well, mine can lasts up to 2 days with Wifi turned on when I'm awake. Also I have roughly 5 hours screen on time on average. Quite achievable with heavy debloating of the ROM and using custom kernel and probably with some undervolting done too.
P/S it's my first Android. Still learning. Please correct if I'm wrong :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
So far on my third day I have 10% left with 1d 5h on battery and 5h 13m screen on time.
Regarding issue I mentioned about the S Pen, Samsung are sending me a new one to try and rule out the phone
nothind wrong with your battery 5 hours screen on is good don't worry everything is fine
