[ICS][CM9]Defy/Defy+ kangs by FuZZ_ - Defy General

Here are the new cherry picks kanged by FuZZ_
His twitter page.
I have been following and using his build for CM7 and they were very stable, fast and perfect for daily use.
I just found that he started to release ICS/CM9 for defy and defy plus.
I will update this post as soon as I try it out, albeit on multiboot.

[Rom List] Chinese ROMs

I want to start this thread to collect all Chinese ROMs like joyos, mokee, shendu and so on and their experiences in daily use, because most of them are already ported to defy.
I will add links and screenshot when i am back at home. Perhaps someone likes the idea and want to help or share his experiences, too.
All credits go to the developer, use at your own risk.

I would try them!
So i will check the next couple of day the shendu rom and will post my expierences.
One bug allready found, whatsapp plus, always shown one line, no matter how much text it is
It would be cool if you could provide some screenshots
So I tested ShenDU and joyos for a couple of days and they are both very smooth. Both are based on cm7 and you can install any app from cm7 like dsp or radio without any problem. Joyos includes only chinese and english, but with a like localeswitch(er) you get all your data app in your mothertounge and only menues are english.
If anybody knows more roms please tell me, i will try them.

If its based on ics, means that based on quarx 03.08 build or based on miui v4?
Can you share some informations with us?
I found only one old thread. Perhaps share the latest changelog with us?
Thanks for your information.
I think it base on quarx. Not miui. And so sorry about the change log. I can't read Chinese. But if you interest about the rom, you can visit.
http://www.qiss.mobi/index_eng.html.
Or you can download the beta rom on

Hope it's helpful
Ok thx i will try it at home.
got it -- damn nice
i was searching for something like that and ics^^
Anyone else with so damn nice stuff?
Great developers.
Has it the same ics bugs as cm9?
So i tested qiss me some time, it looks really amazing and i love the music app with a touch of cover flow, BUT the performance is like miuis v4. After some time it gets laggy and slow. But they update it constantly, in fact the changelog is in chinese, i dont know what they update. I will keep it in mind a try to update it every time and tell you if it gets stable enough for daily use.
Try instal ram manager. It's reduce the lag problem.

Some of them are quite nice, so qissOs is like a themed Miui but looks really nice, joyos is ios looking so hate it or love it.
And new stuff is quite difficult as i dont speak any asian language and understanding threads translated with google isnt easy, too. But if some one find a new nice rom or speak a asian language, he or she can tell us if there is something which should be tried.
seems no one needs these thread so i wont update it anymore

Haha, it could be your and most of the people wish, but once camera get matured in ICS , there will be no need of GB as I think.
Because currently in GB there are a lot of issues, like app update, battery drain, not full theme support, but MIUIv4 doesn't have these kind of bugs. only camera is lacking.

A Mod which makes our Wonder to a time machine.
Possible scenario: We travel 40 years back, go to the 5-year-old-future-Samsung-managers home, kick him in his butt and tell him: "You better support ICS for the Galaxy W in future or I will tell your mommy"

I have already asked acro68 to help me to build CM7 from sources. But first thing is that Its not that easy, secondly arco68 is too busy and the help and effort required for CM7 can not communicated on PM or Emails. It requires a lot of time, effort and proper guidance which currently I dont have.
I would appreciate that If anyone take initiative and build CM7.

[ROM][MIUIv4]MIUI v4 for Defy+ GB kernel [17 June 2012 build](XIUI)

This is not made by me. Im only sharing what I found so Defy+ users can enjoy MIUI without having to go to a Froyo kernel and not getting full charge in out batteries

A lot of stuff works! I haven't tested HWUI since I reverted back to my nandroid
I have tested the camera and video recording and it works nicely.
Bugs:
-If battery doesn't charge to 100% no problem! You can flash this battery fix and it will work since it's meant for GB kernel.

Tried this. Booted with Walters dht22 kernel, wow. But but, the biggest problem I faced is the apps(icons) on launcher not moving with long press, instead they opened. If I reset to factory defaults it worked but after restart and some time the bug reappeared. Tried with apex,Nova, holo launchers, same results. Reverted to cm72.

Defy ICS HWA discussion

Hi all,
Currently Defy ICS/CM9 is still working on the HWA. However, it seems that Lenovo A1 tablet, which is using OMAP 3622(?) has official Android 4.0 update. Is it possible that we can extract related files from Lenovo ROM and port it to CM9 to solve HWA?

Hey guys, Quarx made history today!
HERE WE HAVE! THE 1ST BUILD WITH FULL HWA SUPPORT! (Update: For Defy+, I've forgotten that detail. In a few moments, Epsylon should be releasing it for Defy!)
Released a few minutes ago! Check out his website in the ICS topic, and scroll down to the latest build!
I'm installing it now, see you all in the "new life!"
Thank you Quarx! YOU SIR, MADE MY DAY!

A few minutes ago i've seen the Epsylon build, but the first I saw was the Quarx, but anyway, made my day. The system changed a lot, things are running smootly as f*ck. Now, the last problem is HWA Decode that makes games and HD movies a bit hard to play because the low framerate.
I miss my Defy+ so badly now...
Just hope that I'll get it back and share the experience..
Since this thread discusses a matter that is now redundant, it's now closed.

[ROM] ICS LiquidSmoothRom v 1.5 for GIO BETA-1 13-07-2012

Here a ROM I compiled last night.
It is BETA! But it is a nice, fast ROM.
Sources published to github.
No port. Compiled from sources.
Size of systemdir ~169MB.
Credits:
Team GALAXYICS / MACLAWSTUDIOS for devicepart and kernel (thanks Marcin for approval!)
LiquidSmoothRoms.com (developers for this ROM)
Adapted RIL(sources from GalaxyICS not available) // patched LiquidSources for ARMv6
Device part changed for allowing hdpi (fixes statusbar & Phone app)
Added Usb (apk) sources from CyanogenMod for working mass-storage.
Rooted
ROM is supersmooth!
You can download it from here. As allways, no mirrors!
Install with CMW (I use 5.2) and donot forget to wipe cache. From CM-7.2 I had to wipe data as well
Known issues:
Pre GalaxyICS-beta9 camera bug. For implementation I need sources from GalaxyICS team
Phonesignalstrengt not reported (right), but it is all is working as supposed to work. I had to produce a RIL myself, as the sources from galaxyicsteam are not available (yet)
SuperUser app is not included now, will be in next release. You can download it from market. Like said above, ROM IS rooted
If you want to try a real smooth ICS, try it out!
More info soon on my website
Feel free to report bugs & issues!

Install in CMW ( I use 5.2) wipe cache. From 7.2 I had to wipe data as well.
Fc in some settings.. I noticed. Minor issue I think, with me it only happened in some useless menu items. If reported in important items I will try to fix with prio

USB mass storage doesn't work
Moved the download for capacity reasons.
USB mass storage is working here. Can anyone confirm/deny?
Yes, mass storage should be working, windows(7) installed all drivers, all is fine.
But no readable disk.
Problem is (i think) i created the sdcard partition via CWM, so the partition is ext3.
And windows offers no standard drivers for that. So for usb storage to work you maybe should format the card to fat32 (beware, all is lost!!!!)
Will try and report....
RE-REPORT:
USB Mass Storage working
Just as older versions, pull down notification and enable
reboot your phone is also with cm9
Lool i am already from the release of the rom gaming and surfing on the internet and after 1.5 day my battery is still 61% that's better then cm9

@erikcas any chance for the camera preview update in this rom?
Working nicely for the most part, indeed some (no biggies) fc's on extra settings, but very useable.
Batterytime around normal... for me it's a keeper (if only the camera preview.... camera not usable now).

Well, sources have to be published for that. The camera is not really my favorite thing to work on.
But I can try, cannot promise
