So this morning... I woke up and accidentally dropped my phone, stepping on the cable at the same time, bending the wire. Now, every time I connect the wire, it would curve downwards, making it lower than the straight middle position, so I have to push it up to trigger the charge. Here's my question: Do you guys think the charging port broke along with the wire? Or can I just buy a new wire to replace this?
Another question...When I use my super short backup Nokia wire, it does move up when I push the wire up, but doesn't budge when I push down. Does this happen to you guys?

Get a brand new cable. This happened with my nexus. Very annoying.

I took apart my dash to clean the inside. My camera wasn't working well so I thought it might fix it. Didn't really fix it, the software still freezes.
Anyway, the internal backup battery cables loosened from the connector way too easily... I barely even touched the cables. Now I can't seem to connect them back. It's way too fragile. I was wondering if I can get that part anywhere? The phone won't vibrate now... And I guess if I turn it off it just won't keep the time and date.
Maybe I should just get a new dash :/
You probably took the vibrator for the backup battery The vibration motor is flat and connected via a cable + connector to the board. It is located near the keyboard connector - usually the cable is wrapped around it. The vibrator connector can be plugged back to the socket.
Ha, it was the vibrating motor itself. I thought it's some sort of an internal battery.
I figured out how to connect the wires back. I took out the little plastic connector's legs out and was able to fit in the wires and push those legs back in.
Wasn't simple cause everything is so small, but after a few minutes I got it back working. Phone vibrates again
This might be a stupid question, and I apologize if it is, but earlier this morning went to pull out my usb cable to hook it to the computer and the ac adapter box came with it with no prongs that plug into the outlet. There was a little small plastic piece that holds the prongs, and I slide it back in and it still works fine.
Anyway, is there a reason this little piece slides in and out so easily? Can you use it for something else? I just don't understand why it would slide out like that if it wasn't for a reason. Thanks for any help with this.
The reason it slides like that is because it is designed as a world charger. Meaning HTC only has to swap out the slide (plug piece) and they can use the same basic charger anywhere they sell their phones. On other world compatible phones, Verizon included the other plug types, looks like they wanted to save a few more cents this time.

You could try putting a piece of electrical tape on it so it doesn't come out.
I drive a 08 F-150 and I put my phone in my cupholder and it bends my charger putting the weight of the phone on it and recently it started to bend the contact port that receives electricity and I would connect my phone but it would say connected but would drain my battery so I have to bend charger cables to charge my phone( ive tried many) and one day I put my phone connected to my car charger and it was powered off and than I looked and my phone was in download mode and something got downloaded I then rebooted my phone and my triangle was gone!!!!!!! Is it possible my charger turned into a usb jig? And anybody have an ideas on maybe moving the contact to its original position? Also when plugged intoi a computer itll charge but needs to bent up on the port of my phone to be usb recognized.
Or a car charger that bends around the phone? like at a 90 angle?

sounds like out of no where it turned into a jig by being at a 90• angle. im not sure but it may sound like that. just charge it with the headphone side down, charger port up!

Its possible, but not probable. It would be a combination of only certain pins transferring current, and the resistance only being like 300k ohms. Totally possible over time i suppose with a faulty connection.

i have seen those 90° male to female plugs on the web somewhere. seems those might be worth taking a look at.

I've been using a simple $6.00 vent mounted holder from Walmart ever since my HTC Mogul days. It sure beats breaking your charging port.
This is why I hate having the charger port on the BOTTOM of the phone... Its stupid design because that's the part of the phone that is going to be bumping up against something most of the time. It really should be next to the headphone jack.
I purchased a right-angle USB cable about a month after I got my phone, and I love it. I can actually set my phone in a cup holder in the car with it charging and NOT feel like I'm going to break the USB port.

I prefer this design. 1000x better then the og epic. I hated trying to type on keyboard with charger and headphones plugged in.

Massive run on paragraph.....
Hi,
My made-in-china docking station has just arrived, unfortunately its already been broken (quality material of a matchbox :\),
I have plugged in my micro usb into the socket (female micro usb on the dock) and somehow after few tests the female receiver of the dock fell out.. (I guess it wasn't glued strong enough because I haven't use any extra power to push it in)
Any way.. I have opened it up to see whats going on and found this:
http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9554/a84p.jpg
The small piece on the left is the female micro usb plugger that was attached to the green board but fell off..
This is a sort of explanation:
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2971/4wbl.jpg
And thats the part it self:
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8735/ew44.jpg
Unfortunately I can't glue it back and definately not weld it on since its too tiny and I don't have proper equipment for that..
But I do want to try to fix it because god damn its 1 day old ! totally brand new!
So I was thinking maybe I should simply tear a cable and plug the + - to the red and black wires at the end of that board..
And so, here comes the question for you expert fellers.
First this is the board:
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/8915/xo1u.jpg
I have a basic knowledge in electricity but its from engineering study and not from real world, so I don't really know how to read this thing..
Perhaps a better intuition than mines will help too..
Is this board necessary? What does it do? and can't it live with out it?
Why they didn't simply plug the + and - straight to the + - pins of the docking points?
Because thats what I am willing to do but I guess that "Ask the experts before you ruin it" is a helpful tip my mom taught me..
Thanks!
Jordan.
I'm curious about this too. I'm in the same boat as you: basic knowledge but not too much real world experience. So, I can't tell you what the board does, but maybe we can figure some things out and perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in eventually.
I can at least answer (I think) why you don't just have a red and black wire going to the point where the phone docks: you have data too (assuming the dock does data as well as charge). Those are the green and white wires in USB.
Well actually I have already figured out out..
First of all there is no data..
You can't minimize 4 cables to 2, its not possible in any way..
Those two pins are for charge only..
The board is for security defense, if you plug into it something with high voltage, it shuts it down or something.. Or transfor only the needed voltage and ampher (5v and 1A for me)..
Any way I cutted out that board and opened up a micro usb cable on the microusb side, attatched the red (+) to the dock's red and the brown (could also be white blue or somwthing, check it out to be sure) to the dock's white (-), closed every thing nice and tight, plugged the usb to charger with 1 ampher output, and it worked..
My phone is getting charged nicely and showing up Docking signal as well..
I'm not sure what exactly this board does and if its useless or not, but it sure ain't must..
Good luck!

Makes sense. I kind of expected there to be no data (hence why I made the comment about it ) Glad you figured it out!
I just purchased this unit. is it normal that the Stock Cable is Hard to Plug on the Charging Port of the Phone..
i need to try so many times before i can plug the charging cable to charging port of the phone before i can plug it successfully. i'm thinking of breaking the charging port if this is the case? Anyone who have the same concern? Thanks

I noticed this as well. hopefully if something gets broken its more likely to be the connector on the cable than the charging port. I have tried a few other cables as well and all are pretty difficult to insert.
Well the way I see it would you rather have it flop around and be loose, or have a night tight fit?
On a more serious note I had the same issue when I first recieved my F400S. After a week or so it got better, you can always try an older micro usb cable thats more broken in to avoid this issue.
when i first got the phone it was like what you've desribed. but after a while, it wasn't an issue anymore, i guess its a good sign that the phone is brand spanking new.
Same for me, hard To plug in ...

Hi,
I tilt the usb-connector up (just a bit) while plugging it in.
Greetz
It requires a downward angle tilting towards the device to insert.
Same for me, but once you're using qi charging and Wi-Fi file transfer, you'll hardly ever use the port.
got it! it was like virg** phone. haha..
wow same issue here.

Only way to get it in is by tilting the cable downward. Tried few cables, they are all doing the same thing. Exchange perhaps?

Tilting the cable to plug in seems to be the norm on pretty much every G3. I doubt exchanging it will help.
Once you've done it for a while, it should become pretty easy to do.
Tilting the cable and just dealing with it are fine, but what happens when you stay finding usb cables that don't want to charge your G3 properly? I have one (very nice) 10ft cable and my phone plays a game of connecting and disconnecting while trying to charge with this cord. This courts does not give me the same problems on other devices. However the G3 charges just fine on all my other cables. Not using this cable is an obvious answer but i worry that the problem could get worse and what if I start having problems with other chargers?
For now, the solution is to tilt the cord slightly downward (or upward, depending on your perspective) as the port is just sliiiiightly more flush with the opening. My advice is to get used to doing this. A broken charger port is really a PITA, so taking an extra 2 seconds to plug it in is the prudent choice. My dad gave me a lot of good advice when I was growing up, and one of the gems turns out to be "don't force things."
As mentioned, once we get some wireless charging back covers on a more accessible basis, we'll all just use wireless charging and never plug in again. Except in the car.
The cable from my old GS4 plugs in very very easily. I haven't tried charging with it tho. I use it mainly for usb mtp.

Difficult at first. It did get better for me though. I too thought i had damaged it or that it had shipped that way. And I also thought I was just breaking it more each time I charged and contemplated exchanging LOL. Make sure cord is facing the right way first (im still trying to put it in upside down sometimes), then you do have to tilt it down a bit to get in initially and then it tilts slightly up before fully inserting. It was very diificult to do the first couple days. Day 5 and its way easy. Hope this has helped and put your mind at ease This is my first Android phone and i'm luvin it!
the past new phones i had. was always hard at first to plug it in.
just gotta lube it up
Any new updates on this? I guess tilting the cable a bit is working, but will it ever get to the point it will go straight in? It really appears that this is not a defect but a LG design for the port.

still the same.. still virgin after many charging cycle
I agree with what was previously stated, after a week with phone, I've become used to putting the cable in. I'm pleased with the tight fit as I've had devices where it feels loose and unsecured.
It ain't nothing but a G thing baby... Lg G3 LGSL990
