So I ordered Nexus for the gf and me from play store and it seems like the phone is dropping calls very randomly on T-Mobile. Thought the phones were defective so I had them exchanged. It is happening again on both the new ones. I can set up a call on them both lay them on a table and they will randomly drop sometimes 1min in other times 20min in. When this happens it shows I have full bars. Use to have SGS2 and never had theses problems. Any advice ready to give up on them still in my buyers remorse period but I love this phone.
I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a solution for it? I have the Google Nexus on Tmo.. works great with Data, no issues.. but voice calls get dropped randomly. Sometimes it resumes the call.. Most of the times, the call gets disconnected if the recipient ends the call. Never had issues with the SGS2, Nokias, Palms etc. which I used to have..

My phone seems to get warm very fast. After just 20 minutes on the phone the upper right portion of the phone is very warm. I know using your phone a lot can make it warm but 20 minutes seems like a very short time for it to be happening. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Yes mine is too

Warm
My very first S2 did this. I took it in to a Sprint Store. They did some tests on it. Next thing I knew they were ordering me a replacement. I would give it a try.
umm, seems about normal to me. when you do intensive things it creates heat from the electronics inside...and its a very slim phone so its more pronounced. my phone gets warm during calls and gaming etc...but thats what happens to computers during use
Mine does this as well but doesn't even take that long of a phone call to get so hot I can't hold the phone up to my ear anymore. I understand playing a game or browsing the internet but a phone call?

Take this with a grain of salt, but the "tech" at Sprint told me this was a known problem with the first batches of phones. He gave me a brand new phone and I haven't had the problem since.
The last phone I had basically killed itself from overheating, the LCD started flickering, then the phone turned into a paperweight. It wasn't rooted, overclocked, or abused.
Sorry but every cell phone I have owned has gotten hot after 20 minutes of use. I had one old analog phone that would get really hot right at the cheek, great way to tell when you have spoken too long. I rarely talk over 10 minutes, if I do it's a conference call for work. I guess I'm just anti social.
I know this has been mentioned a hundred times over i just wanted to share my experience:
I'm lucky enough to have 2 galaxy nexus in the house. My wife got one from costco and 2 weeks later I got mine from amazon. I got to play with her phone for a couple of weeks and was excited about mine. Her phone had decent 4g coverage. Her phone had very few data connection drops in those 2 weeks, so when I got my phone I was expecting something on par with her phone. My phone data connection sucks compared to hers. My phone will lose connection several time s a day. The worse is at night when my phone will lose connection and won't reconnect and the battery will quickly drain...while sitting next to my wife's phone which has no problems.
I was just thinking there must hardware issues?? Her phone works quite well while my mine has a crappy connection.
We are both are on stock. Hers is not rooted, mine is. I just updated my radio today and it seems to have improved my signal. I never saw 2 bars before, but now I've seen it a couple of times. I never see two bars on my wife's phone but she hardly ever loses connection (I check her phone frequently everyday)
fyi...
I'm having amazon send me a replacement...
Do you have the same carrier?
Are you using any apps that run in the background? You seem to be a tweaker (having rooted and everything), so I'm wondering if you haven't overtweaked the device with apps. Any 'battery' management or data connection apps?
I had a similar issue. Wife's GN was fine overnight while my own,;sitting a few feet away in the same room, showed a complete loss off signal from 1am on, causing the battery to drain completely.
The VZ rep told me the phone was probably defective, so I returned that phone, got another one with a bad screen and am now on my third unit.
This third phone seems OK, but even it was showing a bizarre loss of mobile data. I say bizarre because the status screen would show a reasonable RSSI of -83 and eHRPD:13 for the network but it would sometimes take as much as 10 minutes to actually connect.
I was using Juice Defender when I was having issues with this third phone. On a hunch, I removed that app and haven't seen the problem since. I'll probably throw JD back on sometime this week to see if the problem reoccurs.

Trying to get my LTE-Nexus close to the awesome battery life my Sprint Galaxy SII had, which was like 18-20 hours heavy use with 5 hours display time, tons of phone calls, dozens of texts, hours of videos/movies, and like 72 hours WiFi light weekend use. My Nexus is lucky to do half that. I get about 7 - 9 hours on a busy weekday of phone use, doing sales. This is with stock battery, I have the extended, but that's another issue, for the extra 45min I might get out of it.
Anyways, I installed Juice Defender this week, and yes it sure did help battery life BIG time, but at a major cost, it basically shuts the phone down. I tried the basic settings for day, advanced settings for a day, custom settings for a day, and pretty much all were a bit glitchy.
I would miss some phone calls, voicemails come in an hour late, a few Force Closes I never got before on my Nexus, opening from the lock screen pausing or freezing sometimes. Restarting the phone never actually shutting down, just hangs. I have never had any issues like these whatsoever before installing Juice Defender.
You should NEVER miss calls from juice defender.. I suspect something else at play there unless it was putting you in airplane mode =/

Was in the shower earlier, heard the phone ring, looked at it on counter, the lock screen was there, but not showing the incoming call, and the ring was missing like half the audio, like a half ring, or every other ring. Very strange. Been on this same ROM for a couple weeks, NEVER had anything like that happen before. Having these strange issues ever since I installed JD a few days ago.

Very strange indeed.. the reason I said you shouldn't miss calls is because JD should never mess with the lower level of signal Verizon puts through (1x), only EVDO or LTE. It could very well be JD then, no idea.
I tried JD on my EVO 4G back in the day. Recall similar issues, with delayed voice mails and data just being strange. Yes it helped the EVO battery life for sure, but made the phone very glitch and not worth issues.

Delayed voicemails I can *maybe* understand, but you should never miss calls.. I'm not saying you're wrong, I've just never experienced it nor does it make sense to me
I did get calls this week. But today was weird with that half ring sound, sounded like battery dying. But it was full.
And phone just seemed a little extra laggy after installing JD couple days ago.

My first G3 which I was very happy with died suddenly on me. AT&T replaced it.
My second one has some issues that my first one did not.
Connects but times out with weak wifi signals.
Double tap often does not work to wake up phone. Needs a second double tap in those instances.
Almost every incoming call the caller can not hear me until I say hello twice.
I have had one overheat episode. No open apps, put the phone in its pouch with screen off. Later in the day reached for the phone and it was very hot with nearly depleted battery.
Seems to have some lag which my first one did not.
I have done a factory reset but these problems persist.
Today, my phone was taken off the charger about 6 hours ago. I have been on calls and browsed the web. Phone still shows 100% battery life, while I should not complain about great battery life, based on previous usage there is no way this can be true.
Anyone else experience this?
I don't like to be a nuisance customer and want to find out what others are experiencing before I call AT&T tech. support again.
Try factoryresetting by means of the volumekeys and not the menu. Made a huge difference with mine....
Anyone experiencing a very hot phone with the new G4? I thought that they chose the 808 vs the 810 because of heat problems, but when I have Tune-in running in the background or Google Play is updating 6 apps, the phone gets extremely hot. I just got a warning that it was 51c/123F. That's quite hot for doing so little. Nothing else was going on.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
that sounds concerning... probably yet another defective G4. I haven't seen a temp over 105 on mine
I've noticed it getting very hot in my pocket. I've only noticed this a handful of times with my previous phones (G3, G2, SG4, SG3, SG2, etc), but it's happened quite a bit in the week that I've had the G4.
Mine feels as cool as a dead cow.

Most of the time, mine is too, but if it does anything slightly intensive (I don't think updating apps or playing tune-in radio as intensive), I get warnings about battery temps and it feels very hot right around the buttons/camera and on the glass side. There are times, when it's just sitting in my pocket and I can feel how hot it is. It's not burn-the-skin hot, but it's uncomfortable to keep in my pocket. Normally, battery temp in the high 80s low 90s, but at these times it's registering over 100F.

I use TuneIn regularly, also Google maps when driving, and I haven't noticed any increase on temperature at all, not even when charging.
Mine is always cool as a dead cow too, LMAO!
I tweeted t-mobile help to see what they have to say.
Mine hasn't even gotten remotely warm, even if I play with it while plugged in.
Nope.

Mine got warm inmy pocket next to my wallet out in 105 degree weather...not hot but warm
I have the same issue. Gets really hot just from simple things like web browsing and games that are not graphic intense
I told T-Mobile and they keep saying that I'm running too many things in the background. I've used this phone the exact same as I used G3 and it never got hot like that. The only time it would get hot would be in the car with tune-in + gps + charging was going on.
I have had it get hot in my pocket too. So hot i needed to move it to a different place. Not sure what was causing it but i hope someone figures it out..
Same here. Not sure what to do since some say theirs doesn't get hot and some say they do.
So I took my phone to T-mobile today and they first went through "your phone is hot for idiots," telling me that running too many apps, leaving it out in the sun, using a case, playing games, etc, can cause the phone to get hot. I told them that it got hot when the play store updates apps. She said she could fix that and turned of auto update. Really? I showed her the current temp of 81F. I then turned on Tune-in Radio and made a phone call. In the matter of 7 minutes, the temp wen from 81F to 96F. Still okay. I turned off Tune-in Radio and hung up the phone and then turned on Periscope. The temps raced to 109F. The buttons were hot to the touch and my batter app warned me about the battery being too hot.
They told me it was too soon for the warranty. Really, too soon? And because I was in the buyer's remorse period, that since I bought it online, I would have to return the phone online and once they received the phone, they would send me out another one. What? They said I would be 7-10 days without a phone because they only ship ground, not overnight. The representative in the store offered me a loaner phone which was a flip phone circa 2002. I told her that was unacceptable. If I purchased it from T-mobile online, it should be just as if I purchased it at a local store. I can buy on Bestbuy.com and return to the local store. They said no. She talked to her manager who then told her to complain on the phone and after about 45 minutes, she got them to send me a new phone (5-7 days) and then when I receive it, I can ship back my too-hot phone.
The manager didn't think that 109F or 117F temps were too bad. I told him, that these were the temperatures that dangerous battery malfunctions are made of. I had a battery that bulged almost to the point of breakage on my Sprint PPC 6600 back in 2009.
So hopefully, this will resolve my problems. I'm supposed to get the LG second battery on Saturday. I'll swap batteries to see if it is just the battery.
Oh, I also forgot to mention that T-Mobile twitter told me to restore my phone to stock, out-of-the box state. Don't log in using my gmail credentials and leave the phone in the default stage for a few days to see if it happens again. Really? What's the point of having a smart phone if all you can do is text and receive calls? Without gmail credentials, I can't download apps, I can't check my email, or do anything else you're supposed to do with a smart phone. Of course texting and cell phone alone shouldn't tax a smart phone. Duh!
Frustrated, to say the least.
Did they require a receipt ? I am thinking of getting a replacement. i have a leather g4 that overheats and when it gets hot around 105f it is unusable almost as if it throttles the cpu down all the way to the point where its lagging like crazy…Its so annoying but anyways i think im going to try to get a replacement but i do not have a receipt..
They said if you ordered online, you must return online and yes with receipt. They said they need a store receipt (not an online one) to return at the store.
Mine gets so hot doing just dumb things, it can't be working correctly. It will go from 80 to over 100 in a matter of minutes.
Just called customer service and they got me to online store services and I told them mine was getting hot just from simple web browsing and if I could get an exchange. They said since its still within 20 days they can apply a buyers remorse thing and they next day aired it for me. They basically said because I'm still within the return window they'll send me a new one cause they want to be sure I get a good device.
Nice. Good for you. I hope once my new one gets here, I will no longer have any issues. I'm going to run the same apps simultaneously and see if the temps stay the same.
Found out how to fix it ! Factory reset your phone and it will also receive the stability software update. Mins seems better and is charging faster !
