Trying to get my LTE-Nexus close to the awesome battery life my Sprint Galaxy SII had, which was like 18-20 hours heavy use with 5 hours display time, tons of phone calls, dozens of texts, hours of videos/movies, and like 72 hours WiFi light weekend use. My Nexus is lucky to do half that. I get about 7 - 9 hours on a busy weekday of phone use, doing sales. This is with stock battery, I have the extended, but that's another issue, for the extra 45min I might get out of it.
Anyways, I installed Juice Defender this week, and yes it sure did help battery life BIG time, but at a major cost, it basically shuts the phone down. I tried the basic settings for day, advanced settings for a day, custom settings for a day, and pretty much all were a bit glitchy.
I would miss some phone calls, voicemails come in an hour late, a few Force Closes I never got before on my Nexus, opening from the lock screen pausing or freezing sometimes. Restarting the phone never actually shutting down, just hangs. I have never had any issues like these whatsoever before installing Juice Defender.
You should NEVER miss calls from juice defender.. I suspect something else at play there unless it was putting you in airplane mode =/

Was in the shower earlier, heard the phone ring, looked at it on counter, the lock screen was there, but not showing the incoming call, and the ring was missing like half the audio, like a half ring, or every other ring. Very strange. Been on this same ROM for a couple weeks, NEVER had anything like that happen before. Having these strange issues ever since I installed JD a few days ago.

Very strange indeed.. the reason I said you shouldn't miss calls is because JD should never mess with the lower level of signal Verizon puts through (1x), only EVDO or LTE. It could very well be JD then, no idea.
I tried JD on my EVO 4G back in the day. Recall similar issues, with delayed voice mails and data just being strange. Yes it helped the EVO battery life for sure, but made the phone very glitch and not worth issues.

Delayed voicemails I can *maybe* understand, but you should never miss calls.. I'm not saying you're wrong, I've just never experienced it nor does it make sense to me
I did get calls this week. But today was weird with that half ring sound, sounded like battery dying. But it was full.
And phone just seemed a little extra laggy after installing JD couple days ago.

No idea what happened here, but my partner's myTouch Slide is eating the hell out of its battery.
Two days ago I updated the phone from CM7 nightly #41 to CM7.0.3 Stable. The day I performed the update, she noticed her phone started complaining about low battery levels. This was only after about seven hours off the charger, with extremely light use.
A quick look at the Battery usage menu showed Display at the very top with 80% of usage... but it had only been on for a whopping seventeen minutes. The phone was sitting idle almost the entire day.
I have tried everything possible--full wipes, installing several different ROMs, restoring to complete stock--the display continues to drain the living hell out of the battery. I know screens take a lot of power, but this is ridiculous. Before this started happening, her phone could easily go two days before needing to be charged.
I'm starting to think the problem is hardware-related and there's some damage to the phone. It's had some minor water damage in the past--a partially-cracked window allowed some rain to get on it, enough to cause the phone to shut down and refuse to turn back on until after a night in a bowl of rice. She isn't exactly gentle with her phone... (if we're forced to buy a new one, I will make her be gentler... lol)
Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem?
Update: It appears as if the phone isn't going to sleep. It was taken off the charger an hour ago and has been in a pocket with the screen off for the whole time, and the battery usage screen is showing the phone was awake the entire time.
I had similar problems in the past with a previously owned G1 and later with an EVO 4G. I'm not sure exactly what caused it but what fixed it for me was flashing a different kernel. Although I wouldn't sudgest you do this it might turn out a bit problematic.

I tried flashing a different kernel and the problem wasn't resolved. Unfortunately it looks as if the problem is hardware-related and the phone needed to be replaced.
Oh. Well sorry I couldn't help you body. I think I'm having a hardware-related problem as well with my current phone (MT3GS) it seems to be having problems with the network when I try making calls it reboots. I flashed cm7 and it didn't reboot anymore but now when I attempt to make calls it doesn't make or receive them. I think ima need to have it replaced as well.

Battery Drain
I have a mytouch 3g slide with android 2.2.1. The battery only last 4h 35m. it all started when i updated all the apps (including the android market). Reset my phone downloaded no apps but updated the market still the battery drained. i uninstall latest android market and battery last for 1d 9h 45m 15s. I believe that did the work.

Maybe he got some vision issues?
out of the blue, I've started having two very annoying issues with my phone.
First one is pretty important because it could cost me missing some important calls. Basically, at some points during the, usually during the afternoon/early evening, if someone calls me my phone doesn't ring. If they leave me a voicemail I get a notification several minutes later but it doesn't show that I had a missed call or anything like that. And when I ask the person who called me what happened, they say they dialed my number, it rang once or twice and then went directly to voicemail. That's what I'd expect to happen if the phone was off but it wasn't off.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
The second problem is that right around the same time frame as this seems to happen, my battery is draining ridiculously fast. It dropped from 47% to 34% in about two hours with absolutely no use during that time.
I opened up better battery stats to show kernel wakelocks since unplugged and it shows the powermanagementservice and something called bam_dmux_wakelock at the top of the list with 30m and 27 minutes.
It's completely stock, I haven't done anything to it. I had previously tried a couple of power management apps like juice defender and another one but I didn't like them and uninstalled them all. So I don't know what could be causing phonecalls to not be coming through to my phone. I have a fairly strong signal too. Any idea what's happening with my phone?
edit: btw, my battery life in general has been very crappy again. I thought the problem had resolved itself but today in just 14 hours I'm down to 30% with only 2 hours of screen time and 15 minutes of voice calls.
I've had this phone for a little over three days now. Overall, I absolutely love it. The only smartphones I've ever owned were the Evo lines, so this was a big leap for me, and I'm not sorry. However, there are a few issues with it.
First is a strange antenna issue. I have the Sprint version of the Optimus G, updated and rooted. When the network mode is set to LTE/CDMA, the 3G antenna will only turn on very rarely, leaving me entirely without internet access. I was about to return in when I realized that the issue is solved when I change it to CDMA only. We don't have LTE in my area, so I don't mind leaving my LTE antenna off. I'm not sure if it's an issue with my phone alone, or if it's a software issue that others have.
Then there's the screen. The screen itself is BEAUTIFUL, and I have no issues with it. But the screen scratches like crazy! I am extremely careful with my phones, and this one in particular. I kinda bought it on impulse, so I didn't have time to order a screen protector for it (one should be in tomorrow though). So I have been treating it with extra, almost paranoid caution. It's only ever been in my pocket while at work (nice khakis, so nothing harsh), and otherwise it's been undisturbed on a table. I check my pocket for any abrasive lint often since there's no screen protector on it. But the screen has developed about a dozen or so scratches, and one of them deep enough to distort the screen when it's on. I don't know how this is happening (the deep one happened in the space of five minutes, inbetween two texts, and was merely put into and removed from my pocket.)
Also, the battery life is kinda crappy. I live near a tower, so always have full signal. At work I'm on wifi, so that's not an issue. The battery scarcely lasts through work, with VERY light usage, and is nearly dead by the time I get home. Today, from the time I woke up with it at 100% to the time I got to work (about 2 hours, with constant near-full signal), the phone dropped from 100% to 76%.
Are these normal issues, or am I the only one experiencing them? I want to love this phone so much, but these seem like serious flaws to me.
I too had to change to CDMA so dont know what is wrong with that. And the scratches is weird ive dropped mine a few times and dropped my keys on the screen and nothing. And my battery is phenomenal. Seems like you have a dud.

In regards to the screen....this may sound like a stupid question and I don't mean to offend, but did you remove the temp screen protector that it comes with? I've not had one issue with my screen being scratched and I can't say I've been all that good to it for the last week.
I've had the phone for a full week now and I have not experienced 3G drops with LTE/CDMA mode enabled. Also haven't scratched it either (thankfully). I constantly put it in and out of my jean pocket throughout the day, so I don't really understand how yours got to be that way.
As far as battery life, I too don't see the issues you're having. Typically I pull it off the charger at around 7AM and can easily get 12 hrs+ with normal usage. Even with Android OS taking up the bulk of my battery (seems to be awake a lot). Lot's of people saying its a battery drain bug, etc. etc. etc...but if I'm getting 12 hrs easily, and 24 hrs with light usage, I don't have a problem with that.
-Screen brightness at 60%
-Wifi on all the time (connected at home and at work - probably helps, lol)
-2 Gmail accounts pushed constantly, Facebook messenger, and a few other apps that auto-update on schedule (news readers n stuff)
-My commutes to and from work - I listen/watch podcasts and/or read. Which means the screen is on the entire time (approx a 1hr commute). All said, my screen-on time sits at around 3 hrs for me.
I'll post some screenshots in a minute...

No scratches or weird battery issues here. My first two days the battery life was horrid. Afterwards I did some update and poof like magic.
Anyone have any info on the boot loader unlock initiative? I miss aosp
got this phone for sprint yesterday after having a BB for 5 years .. and i'm loving the beautiful screen,.
Only hiccups is maybe the battery... Yesteday i had it full on 100% then after 2 hours went down to 80%..
I'm currently in the office charging the phone to 100% will remove it and do normal routine on it and see how long it last.

Haha, I actually checked for this before posting. It is absolutely something I'd do.
After reading these and other comments about the phone, I realized I probably had a dud. I went to the Sprint store a couple days ago and swapped it out for a new one, and it's running beautifully, with none of these issues. So I guess I just got a faulty one. Thanks all for responding!

Good to hear! Sorry, I had to ask...my girlfriend had the same problem with her phone she got a couple months ago and it was because the temporary screen protector was still on the phone!
Anyone finding it gets kinda hot? I've read some owners complaining about this and it was mentioned in some review somewhere. Wondering how widespread it might be. Might be that people keep all 4 cores running 24/7. I don't see the point if you're web surfing, talking, texting. I keep it on Eco Mode most the time.
I've only notice it get warm once or twice, but even then it was barely noticeable. But I've had eco mode on since I got the phone, and it's not hesitated or stuttered once.

We are thinking of switching to Sprint, so we went to Best Buy and picked up one of these phones and I'm very impressed with it so far.
Actually this is the second one because the first one had a factory defect in the chrome around the screen. It get home with the 2nd one and notice there is a speck of dust under the glass.
I'm going to return this one in a day or two and see if the third one is a charm. If not, I'm not getting a forth one!
Any suggestions on a different phone for Sprint if this one doesn't work out? To me the only other phone to get would be the Note 2 and then the GS3.
A little help here guys. I was planning to return mine because of battery problem. Like i tried playing Dead Trigger, current battery is 54%, 30 brightness, sync and data is off. I played for good 5 minutes and it dropped to 48%. One more test is after it got 100% full charged, i unplugged it, Wifi is on still 30% and not using it for a couple of minutes it dropped to 97% and im not even using it!
So i want to return it.
The question is:
Do i have to pay for replacement? I got mine at BestBuy for 99$ almost a month ago.
2nd is will still they accept it now it got scratch on four sides. Any suggestion?

As long as it hasn't been over 30 days and the phone doesn't look "abused" then you should be fine, also if it's been under 30 days i would add geeksquad protection especially if you plan on rooting, i thought it was a bad investment at first, then when talking to a tech after my evo4g bricked he just said to "make sure the device doesn't power on" and they will replace it needless to say i took a ballpeen hammer too it and got a shiny new one 2 days later.
I took the LG back and got the GS3. I've already had to clear the cache on the galaxy because of excessive battery drain.
If the GS3 fails me, I'm gonna try the Note 2.

Yep, on eco mode the battery is outstanding. The phones is faster than my wifes S3 on eco mode, and I get nearly 2 days without charging. I had the note II for a week and that is just as good but was too big for me. This phone impresses me everyday.

My first G3 which I was very happy with died suddenly on me. AT&T replaced it.
My second one has some issues that my first one did not.
Connects but times out with weak wifi signals.
Double tap often does not work to wake up phone. Needs a second double tap in those instances.
Almost every incoming call the caller can not hear me until I say hello twice.
I have had one overheat episode. No open apps, put the phone in its pouch with screen off. Later in the day reached for the phone and it was very hot with nearly depleted battery.
Seems to have some lag which my first one did not.
I have done a factory reset but these problems persist.
Today, my phone was taken off the charger about 6 hours ago. I have been on calls and browsed the web. Phone still shows 100% battery life, while I should not complain about great battery life, based on previous usage there is no way this can be true.
Anyone else experience this?
I don't like to be a nuisance customer and want to find out what others are experiencing before I call AT&T tech. support again.
Try factoryresetting by means of the volumekeys and not the menu. Made a huge difference with mine....
Every once in a while I can't swipe down the notifications bar and the top 10% ish of the screen doesn't respond to touches.
Also, I seem to get quite a few false touches
I think i may have issue but not too sure will keep a eye out

I have an issue that is 100% reproducible on my G4.
1. I set in Dev option for the animations to be .5x
2. Swipe between home screens left, right left, then press any of the shortcuts in the persistent are of the screen (phone, camera etc).
3. Now try to do the same thing but press any app shortcut or even the recents button. it works fine. I think this is a software issue.
I freaking starting to hate LG UI.
No issues on my G4, however...
I had the same exact issues on the G2 where the digitizer and the screen had to be replaced time and time again, and it'd just break again. Seems like the heat makes it so touches don't register.
I posted the other day about an issue mainly in Pinball Arcade, where taps occasionally weren't registering a flipper activation. This problem seemed to extend into the OS itself, as I have had some hiccups while typing or navigating. I just wiped everything and am trying again...we'll see. But I want this figured out by early next week so I can take advantage of the 14-day period.
Seems to happen when the top part of the phone is really hot
I'm having issues with the touch screen just not registering taps randomly. i can be in chrome scrolling and just have it stop scrolling then decided to start up again and i have to press an app icon multiple times to get it to register. ive only had the phone for 5 hours now. very pissed.
going to go return it now. was going to get the nexus 6 and i should have in the first place.
Some taps not registering here too...sucks, but i don't see any other phone I like out there.
same here I'm having bad touch screen issue, will be returning just paid $635 for this
.. I just started having this issue after the recent tmo update.. Wtf
Don't seem to be having any touchscreen issues. Mine is only heat related. Getting new phone delivered today. Hopefully that will fix it.

It's normal to heat up the first few days while it downloads and installs all your data.
I've had my phone two weeks. It heats up to over 107F while listening to Tune-in Radio. Yesterday at the T-Mobile store it went from 81-107F after 5 minutes of talking on the phone and about 5 minutes of Tune-In Radio. The hottest I've noticed is 117F. This is under normal operation and NEVER happened with any other smart phone I've had (I've had smart phones since 2005). It will be in my pocket and I have to take it out because it's so hot. I don't play intensive games or do anything really intensive on it. The most intensive thing I do is watch youtube videos or periscope. I use this phone exactly as I used my G3 two weeks ago. Nothing has changed and no new apps.

Yeah, that's probably not normal if it's been two weeks. Mine was only warm the first two days, but it quickly resolved once everything's properly set up.
What's funny, is she went down a list of why my phone might be hot: did you leave it in the sun? are you playing intensive games? a case can cause the phone to get hot. using your screen at high brightness can cause the phone to overheat. LOL
I told her that when play store updates 2 apps, it gets hot. She said she could fix that and promptly went to my settings and turned off auto-update. REALLY?

Mines got pretty hot too when updating apps the first day of use, hottest I've ever felt a phone. I've been working at T-Mobile since 2009 and I always thought customers would exaggerate about a hot phone.

I just noticed this last night as well. I had it plugged in and it started to slow down a bit (Thermal throttling) and touches were less responsive.
At this moment it's working great. I really hope this isn't a heat/hardware thing
