Should I get the Inc??? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Alright so I have had 5 Droid x2s within less than a year. I'm able to get a free Droid inc2 instead of another x2 replacement. I'm wondering if any of you inc2 had a x2 before and what you liked better and why. Im currently running cm9 on my x2 and its pretty zippy. I want my phone to be fast. Very fast. I'm not sure if I should sick with my x2 or get the inc2. All input is welcome and thanks! =D

I would get the Incredible 2 just because the phone is guaranteed to get the update to ICS later on (the Droid X2 is going to stuck on gingerbread sadly).

I would get the dinc2. I currently have both and I absolutely love my dinc2. And even though it only has a single core even without overclocking you will not see a difference between the dinc and the x2...well besides a smaller screen.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA

thanks for the input guys. I have done a lot of research on the two comparing them over and over. By the looks of it the inc 2 usually comes out on top. The "dual" core x2 doesn't even use the tegra 2 processors to the full potential because the 2.3.x software doesn't take it into account. so those dual cores are just as good as a single core without properly adjusting for it. which moto (like usually) failed to do. Looks like im getting the inc 2 =D

[Q] Should I trade my D3 for Dinc 2?

I have a Droid 3 and missing the MIUI and other rom experiences. My only concern with trading out for the Dinc 2 is performance (flash video) and future support.
Any former dual core users here that can compare with Dinc 2's fluidity? The narrow screen of the D3 bugs me as well, I also like the option of free tethering which is a hassle right now with D3. I don't hog data i just like to have the option to use it. Any help would be appreciated thanks!
Personally, I think the Inc2 is plenty fast. I have no lag running Sense 3.5

Never had a 2core before but I have seen that the development section of the D3 is really empty looking without rom threads.

Tap'n on miui incredible 2
I have to say that the inc2 is first pick. My phone out performs most dual core. Haven't put it toe to toe yet with the razr but if it is anything like past moto phones it will hold its own.

I have never used a dual core phones, but for some reason devs stay away from them. Then again devs stay away from moto phones too. So if you want this phone for the ROMs then go ahead. But the new dual core HTC phone for Verizon looks pretty sick, and I know devs will love to make ROMs for that. If you do get the dinc 2 please compair the speed of both phones and say which one is better running the default ROMs on both. Just.wondering.

Instead of dinc 2, I would say getting a rezound is better. But of you emphasize of miui ROM den get a dinc 2.

Far from it.
Back to OP: I'd go with the dinc2, much better community, better phone overall imo. Technically, the D3 is superior, but in my hands, I really preferred the dinc2. Much nicer on the eyes, thinner, etc.
If you do trade make sure you get some money out of it. $75 -$50

I had the droid 2 global and traded up for the incredible 2...WITH no regrets at all....The incredible 2 has way more options to mod with and is a lot smoother running... Go with the incredible!

Thanks! Yes I knew it had a bigger screen 4" I think vs 3.7. But faster processer? What are the clock speeds on the two phones? I thought the dinc was clocked at 1000.

DI2 running SkyRaider Zeus R1.3, stock kernel with Quadrant score of 1446 - benchmarked 350% faster than my Droid Eris, working Flash Player & playing Hulu nicely ....
I loved my Inc1... But the Inc2 is what the original should have been at launch. I only miss the red accents. Perfect size for a phone. Not gigantic and ugly like the Moto Razr Tablet and not too small like how my Inc1 feels now.
Love this phone just wish it was 4g
Loved the Inc1 dev community but the Inc2 is growing and has everything I need. Virtuous, Cm7, and the fifteen million Newt roms.

dinc1 has 512mb of ram, dinc2 has 768 i believe
as for faster processor, clock speed isnt everything. Just try out a 1.6ghz atom and compare it to a 1.6ghz i3. The snapdragon in the Dinc2 is a new chip, with a smaller architecture and better power management, with a newer GPU.
Not to be an ass, but honestly you're comparing an older phone to a newer one. The Dinc2 is an all around better phone simply because it has some more refined components in it.
As for the dev community, this phone has quite an active one. We have 2 different ICS ports (one on xda, the other on rootzwiki), countless sense roms, TSM poolparty, OMFGB, OMGB, CM7, MIUI, etc. We have nearly anything you could want running on this phone out, or in the pipeline.
This is a great device and if you're looking to get one, i'd recommend it.
100% agreed.
I started with the HTC Eris
Then the D INC 1
and now D INC 2, and all 3 were great phones. But the INC2 just blows the INC1 out of the water. Is the Inc1 still a nice phone? Yes. Is the INC2 much better? Yes.

Lol I feel so young in smartphone years. The DINC2 is my first one. I had jailbroken my iPod touch and messed around with themes and stuff and even downloaded a thing to make my own, but I got this and I can't go back to iOS unless I was forced to. I love this phone. Who are you that we need to strongly convince you? All of us are using a Galaxy Nexus. You're the one missing out.
Go to the store and try out the phone or go on the online emulator. All the threads of user experiences of the Galaxy Nexus are there, pros and cons, use the search feature and read it up on your own.
From the looks of your previous posts, RAZR & Droid X2. Get the Galaxy Nexus so you can finally get out of the Motorola jail and experience the REAL Android Experience rather than a motoblur'd experience because it blurs what Android is all about.

In my opinion, research, then use the phones at the store. Draw your own conclusions. Personally I felt like the demo RAZR at VzW lagged horrendously. The Rezound and GalNex were the same speed for me. But I've grown fond of vanilla; and although the newer Sense is kinda spiffy I'd rather have the freedom to mod it than be locked out (or wait for an eventually...haven't looked in those forums in a while).
So for me, I'd vote best to worst (but still not bad)
1. Galaxy Nexus
2. Rezound
3. DROID RAZR
But again... it's all opinion.

The Nexus feels MUCH better then the razr did. ICS is slick.
The lifespan on the Nexus is also considerably longer. Your practically guaranteed timely updates. The nexus last year already has ICS.
Plus the Razr HD is due out soon and you'll be old news.
ISC was designed for an Amoled HD screen. There are several features that will look like crap on a LCD. I'm not sure if the Razr has Amoled.

I like the sony brand (i always buy sony tv's for example), i had an experia x10, the phone itself was nice enough but the updates were horrendous. It took nearly a year to get updated from 1.6 !!!!! when nearly everything else was running 2+
It will also be crammed full of carrier crap which will do its stuff in dumming down any phone.........I am delighted i moved to a GN, the lack of carrier interference was enough reason for me to choose this phone

Supposedly Sony has really turned around and is taking a stand on quicker timely updates and support for this community. I think they even released ICS so developers can play around with it before it gets released to their phones. I don't remember where I read that though.

You know I usually judge my next purchace on how well its built, is the software current, and of course rootability. Motorola just recently stated most 2011 models will be upgraded to 4.0 or 4.1 (can't recall exactly). They are working with devices that do preform well and have decent battery life, plus at that upgrade price, that's a killer deal.

I really think you should spend 100$ more and get the galaxy s3 (wireless.amazon.com for 150$) or, spend 99$ for a galaxy nexus. I'm never buying a motorola phone, they seem pretty notorious for not updating their software. Also, if you are a fan of XDA and the things that are happening here, stick to what's hot and is going to continue generating interest for at least the next 2 years - which in this case, i think will definitely be the S3. The nexus phones are also super popular and will be worked on too.
don't go motorola, just don't. They're garbage (coming from a Droid X2.)
In all honesty, right now, I'd go with the G-nex. I don't really like the S3, but it's just personal taste I guess

Even though I've never used an S3, they are so wildly popular that you are bound to see good ROM support for many months to come. I feel this is what plagues the DINC2, since so many have become fed up with HTC (& Verizon) and moved on to other phones. The remaining devs do great work though!:highfive:
I've been using a Verizon Galaxy S3 (Verizon is dual core vs everyone else getting a quad core) as my work phone. Running an AOSP rom I'm very happy with it. My sister just upgraded from an iPhone 4 and LOVES her new stock Sprint GS3.
Personally I'm tired of being a flashaholic and just ordered a Lumia 822 Windows phone to replace the Incredible. I wasn't looking to shell out cash for a new phone and it's got the same processor as the VZ GS3. I figure I run Windows at home, own an Xbox, and support Windows at work so an iPhone was out.
I've got till june for my update. I think I might be one of the very last of the inc2 users by then.
I'm probably the only person that went from a Dinc 2 to an SGS3 back to a Dinc 2.
I liked the SGS3. The ROMS are pretty good although AOSP roms were lacking a bit back when I used them. I was kind of forced to sell my SGS3 as I needed to pay off some expenses so I went back to the Dinc 2.
Looking back, I don't really miss the SGS3 that much. Sure, in pretty much every way it's a better phone and LTE is nice. I did get adjusted to the 4.7in screen and the overall size of the device, but I really do like the Dinc 2 form factor a lot better.
Whatever my next phone is, I'll try to talk myself out of getting something the size of the SGS3. I really hope a new 4.3in phone, or something around that, comes out on Verizon. There's the HTC M4, but I wonder if it will ever see the light of day on Verizon. I wish Verizon would sell the flagship HTC phones and not altered models.
I'll probably use the Dinc 2 until it breaks or I can't get a hold of a good looking stable rom. I'm going to stick with flagship phones from now on though.

This has been my concern as well, especially with the newer smartphones. I kinda like the pocket-size of the dinc2. Seems like everything is getting bigger instead of focusing on the real need. BATTERY LIFE.
