[Q] Is it possible to replace the GSM antenna for HTC wildfire? - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I would like to know if it is possible to replace the GSM antenna on my wildfire. If yes, does anyone know or has anyone managed to do it? Any help would be appreciated.
Extra info:
This is my first post. I have searched xda-developers for a problem similar to mine but am fairly certain that there is no info on it here.
So here goes, a few months back, I broke my HTC wildfire after which even when I plug in a working sim card, it shows no signal.
When I took it to a repair shop, they said that the antenna is broken n there is nothing else that can be done other than replacing the phone.
However, if I put in a sim card of another carrier, it does recognize it and asks for an unlock code because my phone is locked to a specific carrier.

i dunno pal, i get the feeling that it may be soldered to the board. and tbh your phone if network locked,it would come up saying you need an unlock code for different sims even if it couldnt get a signal, as it is software related.... now if it GETS signal with a sim that is a different story, but i wouldnt hold out much hope for it sorry bud.

[Q] Sim problems!

I rooted my desire, and i am using Leedroid with launcher pro, and some apps and what have you, and although it seems to recognise my sim, and knows my phone number, it wont let me connect to my network (orange). any idea why? is it simply locked? or is it something less annoying?
come on people someone must have an answer, or atleast a hypothesis.
just to clear things up, i was given the phone, without a charger or anything, took the old sim out and tried it with mine, rooted it almost straight away, but i dont get signal at home anyway.
A friend of mine had the same problem. He went down to his service provider to get the sim card replaced and it worked. I also overheard while at htc's service center, the service staff giving the same advise to someone.
so i need a new sim card?

Locked and goosed?

Hi can anyone help me please?
I recently bought an htc one x, it had no sim card and i was told it was unlocked for any network, i have flashed the rom that has the snake on (cant remember the name). When i put a sim card it just doesn't seem to register at all, It seems that the airport mode is always in a state of turning of and the wifi wont turn on, i have tried to get the imei but when i do this there is no number at all just the word IMEI: Is this phone goosed? Would it be worth selling to another country where it may work so i can get some of the money i paid for it back?
Thanks in advance.
Mate, I'm afraid you have been tricked. What you described sounds like a serious hardware problem to me. As long as the phone accepts the SIM card it's not SIM locked, alright. But not being able to get out of airplane mode, or not being able to turn on wifi, sounds like it's seriously f****d up (pardon my language!). I suggest you see the service with it. Passing it to somebody else certainly won't solve the problem with it (only your problem!).
Cheers!

I wouldn't jump to conclusions there!
OP I recommend going back to stock and see if the problem is still there. An error in installing ViperX is always possible. Let's just hope nothing was wrong before you unlocked your bootloader. Otherwise you won't be able to get warranty if it's a hardware problem. I always test any electronic device for a week or two before I screw with it.

SIM card not detected - then detected again

My phone is constantly failing to detect the sim card, usually if I restart the phone or leave it for enough hours it will "find" it again.
Short of reflashing it I'm not sure if there's any way to determine if this is a software or hardware issue. The phone itself is a refurbished one (thanks to the phones insurance replacing it a few months ago), however it is now out of warranty. If it was a hardware fault, how much would it probably cost?
Thanks, Shaun.
The first thing I'd try is a different SIM card or a different SIM card insert (bit of plastic that the SIM sits in).
Has this always happened since you've had the phone?
or
Has it happened since you flashed the phone?
As for the price of repair I haven't a clue (i do all repairs myself), but my guess is in excess of £150
You may want to provide more information before other, more experienced people, come to your aid.
It's slowly gotten worse over the last few months (the first couple of times I just thought it was a once off bug or something, which is why it's very difficult for me to give you an exact when it happened).
The fact that its gotten worse in itself is leading me to guess its a hardware fault - I could have knocked or dropped it and not remember or something.
I don't have any other SIMs but I'll give flashing it to a different ROM or stock a shot first.

I feel as if that is your best best before you go throwing money at it.
Good luck!
Does the phone say no sim card (with icon) or do you lose service?

It has done both, the latter's slightly more common though. Probably more often than both it will momentarily drop out, then come up with a "Preparing SIM card..." message.
Still happening after flashing it with a different ROM. Looks like it's probably hardware :/
Might be coxicial cable that connects the pcb with antenea board they do come off from time to time

Hi there,
i have a similar problem with my device:
network disconnects sometimes (for some reasons ok, as example when i sit in the underground or other places without gsm network) - but then the services doesnt comes back - i'm complete offline. next behavior: i'm just talking with full gsm bandwidth, and for really no reason i get disconnected -> no network anymore, no service anymore.
can it be a hardware fault or should i try to flash the modem (when possible) ? I'm on the latest HTC firmware, device isnt rooted or flashed... it is as i got it from the market.
thanks for a hint what i can try
See above could be that, what network you on?

I'm on GSM (in Germany the O2 network)
maybe the network fault can be solved:
just have read in the vodafone forum in uk and found a hint from a user, who was taping the back side of the SIM card with 2 stripes of plastic.
Have tried this and report tomorrow here if it solves the issue
Tested with taped SIM card and i can say: it works like a charme

[Q] The Speaker and Network doesnt work.

Hi XDA users.
My problem is just same as this thread's title.
A few months ago,
suddenly I had an idea which try to disassemble my Xperia Play.
So I did that and consequently one part of touch screen couldnt work normally.
So I decided to repair it and it has been repaired.
But another problem was happened...
First, the speakers didnt work.
At that time I flashed Gin2Kitkat.
Though I flashed any other ROM, they havent worked still now,
I think the reason of this problem isnt software but hardware,
The only solution seems to replacing this part.
Moreover it cant connect network.
In my country there are two carriers which I can connect with my Xperia Play.
But though I selected one my SIM card support, it couldnt get any network.
However SIM card itself isnt wrong.
Because it worked normally when I put it another device.
I want to repair it.
But I dont know what should I replace component.
It is main board?
Also I wonder whether there is a way I can buy it.
For reference if there is any item in eBay, I can purchase it.
Thanks.

Nexus 5x pick no service

my lg nexus 5x recently went to become just a personal compact computer that unable to make or receive any call or connect to network, not a phone as smartphone as it should be. everything work just fine only that it not pick up any service. it has detected the sim card is inserting and the carrier name of the card (it's AIS, i'm living in Thailand) but still the bar is empty and its IMEI is still good. After several investigation and tens of flashing which doesn't work, I came across with some clue of the causes of the problem and I'm begging if someone has a solution for it.
1. i found that in Thailand the LTE band that is support here is only band 1 and and band 3 which in this device it support only USA, 5 and 7 so is anyone know where to get a radio.img file for flashing it to make it work?
2. when I brought this phone it said it the description that it is unlocked, but I not sure its really is or not, so is there any way to check on that and a way to unlock it.
3. i'm quite certain that isn't a hardware problem as it's still able to detect the card i put in, so if it a software problem and someone know a clue of solution, please post in
thank you

1. Has it ever worked? Does it work on 2G/3G as the websites I link below say it should? The actual phone or simcard could be at fault here. But some info: If its not the international version and your carrier does not use the same bands then there is no software fix for this as it has to do with the hardware make up. Eg If the hardware cannot see band 3 no software with make it do so.
Here maybe some helpful links
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/k6lh22/google-nexus-5x-lg-h790/thailand
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/25/nexus-5x-hits-fcc-with-all-us-carrier-bands-including-verizon/
My suggestion, Return it and get the international (h791) model.
2.Unlocked in the fact there are no carrier/manufacturer restrictions preventing you from modding or preventing you from going to another carrier other than the one you brought it for. EG Moding a samsung device is a nightmare as carriers/manufacturers prevent you from unlocking the bootloader/installing recovery's etc and hacks are required to get around this. LG/Google allow this. 2 easy steps to unlock the bootloader and you are away.
3. It maybe the fact that the information maybe hardcoded on the simcard.
Thank you for your solution. It seems likely to be the first one as it has said in the description that it is the h790 when I brought it from eBay, and when it came and after I refurbished it, it never pick up my carrier's service since then.
One more question, is there any way to test the signal receiver function as if its still functional or not, by simulate US signal or something, because I may want to sell it to US someday and I want to make sure that it is actually work.

The only way to test it is to use it on a network it supports.
