Nexus 5x pick no service - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

my lg nexus 5x recently went to become just a personal compact computer that unable to make or receive any call or connect to network, not a phone as smartphone as it should be. everything work just fine only that it not pick up any service. it has detected the sim card is inserting and the carrier name of the card (it's AIS, i'm living in Thailand) but still the bar is empty and its IMEI is still good. After several investigation and tens of flashing which doesn't work, I came across with some clue of the causes of the problem and I'm begging if someone has a solution for it.
1. i found that in Thailand the LTE band that is support here is only band 1 and and band 3 which in this device it support only USA, 5 and 7 so is anyone know where to get a radio.img file for flashing it to make it work?
2. when I brought this phone it said it the description that it is unlocked, but I not sure its really is or not, so is there any way to check on that and a way to unlock it.
3. i'm quite certain that isn't a hardware problem as it's still able to detect the card i put in, so if it a software problem and someone know a clue of solution, please post in
thank you

1. Has it ever worked? Does it work on 2G/3G as the websites I link below say it should? The actual phone or simcard could be at fault here. But some info: If its not the international version and your carrier does not use the same bands then there is no software fix for this as it has to do with the hardware make up. Eg If the hardware cannot see band 3 no software with make it do so.
Here maybe some helpful links
https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/k6lh22/google-nexus-5x-lg-h790/thailand
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/09/25/nexus-5x-hits-fcc-with-all-us-carrier-bands-including-verizon/
My suggestion, Return it and get the international (h791) model.
2.Unlocked in the fact there are no carrier/manufacturer restrictions preventing you from modding or preventing you from going to another carrier other than the one you brought it for. EG Moding a samsung device is a nightmare as carriers/manufacturers prevent you from unlocking the bootloader/installing recovery's etc and hacks are required to get around this. LG/Google allow this. 2 easy steps to unlock the bootloader and you are away.
3. It maybe the fact that the information maybe hardcoded on the simcard.

Thank you for your solution. It seems likely to be the first one as it has said in the description that it is the h790 when I brought it from eBay, and when it came and after I refurbished it, it never pick up my carrier's service since then.
One more question, is there any way to test the signal receiver function as if its still functional or not, by simulate US signal or something, because I may want to sell it to US someday and I want to make sure that it is actually work.

The only way to test it is to use it on a network it supports.

No SIM insterted, advices please

Hy guys,
I have a situation and need some advices
I have the opportunity to buy NOTE2 for a very fair price, BUT device cant read a sim card :-S (with sim card inserted)
Device does not have a waranty (because it is bought out of my country, to be specific it is from austria), and seller said he is not take it to a service center. so there is no diagnosis what is wrong with it.
I have not seen the device yet, but i will see it in about two days. Seller said that the device is almost new, and it is fully functional except the sim card.
I was ask him is maybe sim slot is broken (people cut regular sim card, and stuff), he said no (he also not sure, because he exchanged it for something else etc).
But nevermind, I will see if it is hardware problem (lets say that I am experienced in this ). I would like to see broken sim card slot, because it is replacable . But lets get to the part where I need advices. possible software problems
I read through forum, and there is various problems and solutions, and also there are few with no solution
I need help with my check list:
1: I will check the IMEI. If there is no one, I will give up
2: If there is IMEI, lets say that there is a chance (maybe someone flash a different rom etc). My qouestion is: Will I be able to make a proper backup of EFS? ,Then try to flash different, modem, kernel, rescue rom, etc... Without a chance to loose IMEI? (properly getting back with efs backup)
3: I read that there are few guys who bought a retail version of the note (the one without radio chip at all). Is there a way to recognize such? (i dont remmember if this version have imei, or not)
4: Is there a chance that device is only locked. What message appear in that situation (no sim, wrong sim, type unlock code or something similar ?)
5: What are the chances that maybe the radio chip is blown , If we assume that the device is relatively new and not dissasembled or something (I know that this is hard to recognize, but maybe, some services code or something)
6: Is there a some kind of service mode to check if the radio chip is functional
So to conclude: If you guys can help me with the check list, feel free to add tips.
I am sorry for this long post.
Thanks in advance
wow, posted a question last nigh, and now it is on a third page lol
lets bump
So once again, my main question is: Is there some service code/mode to check whether the radio chip is functional/or whether is the radio chip existing in a device?
the rest I will leave to chance
again, thanks in advance
Go to a your local telephony service provider, give them the phone's IMEI and inquire about it if it has been black listed. If your device's IMEI has been blacklisted IDK if there's a tool to clone/change it to a newer one. Once the device's IMEI has been blocked, that process is irrevocable unless the previous owner clears the issue for you.
Blocking IMEI happens usually to phones with unsettled payments for the phone unit.

Thank you, that is sound intersting, and when I've thought about it can be possible cause.
This device came from Austiria to my country, so If we assume that the IMEI is black listed; Whether this can be checked by any carier/service provider? or just one where phone is bought?
thanks again
if it is carrier locked then you should still able to dial emergency number isn't?
in hardware issue you can't.

Just like what dr.ketan said(which is the easiest way to troubleshoot it), try dialing the emergency number wait for the ring(a single ring, then put it down - don't try to call again if it does ring) and if someone answers your call - say the matter has been solved. The phone is network locked.
Thanks guys, I was reading a lot through forum, and my head is full of ... so I overlooked the logical solution
Thanks again, will try check phone maybe tomorow, and I will let you know

Unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus - No signal al all

Hello,
A bit about my Nexus: Bought it online, it's the Domoco version, unlocked, rooted and been using just fine with many custom ROMs.
So yesterday morning, I was talking on the phone with a friend without any problem. After hanging up for a few hours, when I was about to call someone else, I realized my phone didn't have any signal at all. And it has been like that until now, about 48 hours.
It happened so suddenly without any warning. The phone has never been dropped and everything else working just fine.
So here's what I have tried:
- Restart the phone (multiple times)
- Batter pull (multiple times)
- Factory reset the phone (multiple times)
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM (multiple times)
- Downloaded SetCPU and set the minimum to 700Mhz (instead of 350Mhz)
- Reflash the ROM and tried with other Custom ROMs (I tried Xenon, Xylon, PA, and Carbon ROMs)
- Reflash the Radio and tried with other Radios too (I tried UILH1, XXLH1, SC04DOMLE3 and some others ...)
- I also went to Tmobile and request a new sim card - same problem.
- I borrowed a sim card from another Tmobile customer to try it on my phone - no signal - but the sim card works just fine on his phone.
I ran out of thing to try and I dont understand what happened ... anyone has an idea or something else for me to try ?
Anyone experience this before ?
Welcome too my hell. I have a playstore one now but my first Gnex was an international one and it has this same issue. Its a PCB problem a warranty would fix. I'm near Chicago and a few people have told me there is an electrical engineer downtown that fixes stuff like this. I don't have a price but I think something like this is your only option. Mine sadly is still a battery charger:thumbdown:

I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried toggling airplane mode? I run into the occasional loss of signal when im at work [fair to weak signal in the big metal box], and a reboot is the only thing that fixes it for me. Mines a play store model.

Ah yes, I actually did try that too but forgot to mention. I tried toggle airplane mode on and off, also the 2G only mode on and off. But it didn't help with anything.
Thanks for the suggestion.

So I guess I have to look for an electrician then, cause I have this phone just a little bit over a year so warranty is a no go for me.
Thanks for the idea.
PS: anyone else has more option for me ? I just wondered if I have bricked my phone ... cause I flashed lots of diff. ROMs to try out but never gotten a bricked phone before, could this be a bricked phone ?
Bricked refers to a phone that does what a brick does: nothing. It doesn't boot, it does not light or attempt to boot, it does nothing. This is a signal issue..I have no prior experience with docomo, but this thread came up on search: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574018, maybe it'd be helpful. Have you converted it to yakju or takju and tried a google factory image?
And this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554150. If it is a circuit board, it kinda looks like s.o.l., and im sad to say that to you.
I wanted to let you know that I experienced the same issue. I bought the unlocked Docomo Galaxy Nexus, and had it working fine on T-Mobile for half a year, and then suddenly had no signal on Tuesday. Nothing I did - factory reset, battery in and out, sim card in and out - could fix it. Have you tried using different sim cards in your phone to see what works and what doesn't?
I figured out that my phone will accept AT&T, and actually does connect to T-Mobile while roaming (I used an international sim card). But, my phone will say "Cannot find mobile network" when any T-Mobile sim card is inserted.

I also have the same problem with the docomo phone. ATT Sim card works. Tried other's T-mobile sim cards and it doesn't work. I wonder if somehow the IMEI has been blocked by T-mobile.

I know others who bought their GNEX through the Play Store and those work just fine with T-mobile. I tried their sim cards in my phone and it doesn't work. I don't think T-mobile is intentionally blocking the docomo phones, because I'm getting T-mobile through roaming, when I use an international sim. My guess is they're doing something to the cell network that just somehow leaves our configuration out. Hopefully it's temporary, but who knows.
Worse case, I'll just purchase a Nexus 4, because I love 4G data for just $30/month with T-mobile. Anyone else got suggestions?

Alright, update on this and there' good news. I called Tmobile and they said my IMEI is actually Blocked. The reason, according to him, is that Tmobile usually sweep the network to clean up all "un-supported" devices, so my device is apparently one of them and therefore got blocked about 2 days ago.
So he said for this, he needs to escalate it to business support and they surely can unblock it for me, but I have to wait until Monday since they don't work on weekend. But well, that's surely a good news. phewwwwwwwwwwwwww !!!
So to all of you guys who are in the same situation, make sure you call Tmobile first before flashing crazy like I did LOL.
Thanks for all the help.
I'd love to know if you are able to get this unblocked and working as I have the same problem as of Tuesday. I was traveling and went into a TMO store, and they told me it was NOT IMEI blocked. In fact they looked at the IMEI and read the page and said 'it was not eligible for blocking'.
I called TMO to see if my phone is IMEI blocked, and through three levels of support the universal answer was no. I'm now fully confused because if it's a hardware issue, why did several people all have the same problem all on Tuesday. For those others who are having issues, can you see the TMO network but not connect to it? That's what I have, I can see TMO and AT&T but haven't been able to connect to either one since Tuesday.

I'll call up T-Mobile tomorrow and ask if they IMEI blocked my device. I had them reset my signal and give me a new SIM card, but didn't realize it could have been IMEI blocked. I'll give them a call on Monday and let you know what the result is. Maybe it won't be too late to cancel my order on that Nexus 4...
I'm quite confused. I've been told last Thursday in a TMO store and with tech support that I didn't have an IMEI block, and the same with three reps tonight. I know the Sim Card is good, and so I'm being told its a hardware issue. However, several of the same phones had the same issue on the same day, so I can't buy it's a hardware issue. Has anyone with this issue flashed a new or different radio into the phone, either before or after the service loss? I have not, running it as it came out of the box.
I just got off the phone with T-Mobile Support, and they told me the device is not blocked. The reason is that T-Mobile cannot block or unblock devices that are not registered to T-Mobile. So I'm back to square one on this.
chowabbajack - When did you first have a problem, last Tuesday? Did you prior to that do any flashing or radio changes to the phone?
We're in the same spot....

That makes me think its something to do with the radio software, because I am the same the problem overall doesn't seem as large as the number of phones I perceive were bought on the Docomo deal.
Ive been using the docomo version of the nexus as well on tmobile for almost a year and it was since last tuesday when it no longer recieved any singal. with some digging around and too many phone calls, I found that the imei number on the phone is not the same as the one under the battery. i have the generic 004999010640000 imei right now and it not sure how i got it. as i bought it unlocked.
what i have tried:
reboot, battery plug, reinsert sim, factory reset, root and flash, got a new sim card, relocked, unlocked
sim card works on other phones.
also i have called tmobile and samsung endlessly and this is what i got:
tmobile cannot unblock the imei since it is not from them.
samsung is redirecting me to their japan branch.
docomo i cannot reach.
my phone before last tuesday:
unrooted stock 4.2.1
been testing different things to see if there is any way to restore the imei
also using root explorer, i cannot find my efs folder....
I've got the same problem since last Tuesday with my GNex and T-Mobile.
Mine is not from docomo though, but the French phone provider SFR, unlocked through FDocomo apk.
Rooted phone, running 4.2.1., no changes whatsoever in the past month and it worked fine until Tuesday, so I don't think I'm responsible for having no signal.
Honestly, I am relieved to see we are quite a few to have this problem, and also very pissed at T-Mobile for causing all this. What should be the next step then? Is there any chances they fix the issue quickly? If not, I might just go to the competition. I've tried AT&T sim cards and they work fine.

I have the exact same generic IMEI number as you, which does not match the number under the battery. I'm not liking the news that you did flash and still no go. I'm a novice at this stuff so please keep us posted.

[Q] Help with unlock

To state clearly at first. The new phone in question was not rooted when I purchased it, but I did root it. So the phone is rooted but not unlocked. I thought I should also add that I'm in Atlantic Canada.
As usual, I always seem to have an issue that I look and can never seem to find the answer. This leaves me asking a question that I'm hoping there isn't already an answer to because I know people hate that.
So here goes. I have 2 SGH-989D phones. One I got new 18 months to 24 months ago with my re-negotiated Telus contract. I got the second one "barely used" a couple of months ago and I'm pretty sure it was a Bell pay as you go phone as this is what the person told me. He said all of the phones they get are always Bell. He would have no reason to not be truthful especially since I had a Telus and he knew I would need to unlock it I purchased it because my existing phone was acting up and also the screen was pretty severely cracked.
What I found odd is that when I put the Telus SIM card in the phone, I didn't get any message that the phone was locked. I was immediately able to dial a number and the call went through. I could also send and receive txt's. The phone also says Telus at the bottom of the screen. What is problematic however is that 4g won't work. When go into the new phone under network mode info this appears "GSM/WCDMA(Auto Mode)" But when I look at my original phones network mode I get "GSM/HSPA(Auto Mode)" So, I'm thinking this is probably quite obviously the reason that 4g isn't working and I have no data available unless I connect to wifi. This won't do.
So, where do I go from here? I'm thinking i need to unlock the phone in order to do something about this probably? Or is there something else I can do to pick up the HSPA instead of WCDMA? I'm so irritated by this. It feels like it should be a simple fix since both of these phones are SGH-989d's but maybe it's not. Lastly, and I don't think this makes much of a difference. My old phone is 4.0.3 version and my newer one is 4.1.2.
Thanks and I'm hoping someone knows what or if I can do anything or if I should just give up. I really hate giving up so I'm hoping it's not the latter of the two options.
Moved to Q and A, and, please do not bump within the same 24 hour period.

The phone is unlocked or you wouldn't of been able to make calls etc with your sim.
My guess as to the problem is that your Bell phone is not a SGH-T989D, it's actually a SGH-i757M or GT-I9100M, they are called Samsung Galaxy S2's but there are a few models of the S2 out there. To verify your model either go to Settings > About phone and check Model number, or pull battery and look under it for the model number. To my knowledge, Bell has never sold the SGH-T989D model of the S2.

Thanks for your reply Almite. Unfortunately the phone is the SGH-T989D.. I know it's a weird problem I've got here.
I used to play around with satellites back in the day. One of the things we used to do with the boxes was to jtag the box, erase the memory from the primary chip and then flash it with a different STB's info. This would enable us to do some wonderful things.
Rooting and then unlocking seems like a similar process however I just don't want to flash the phone with something that is going to brick it. I guess I'm going to need to do something. This phone is no good to me this way. If I brick it, I brick it. What I would like from someone in the community would be to direct me to the easiest process to flash my phone with a telus ROM.
I have read A LOT and there are many opinions out there, but I'm thinking that there is probably a consensus on what is the best and easiest way.
Update
I have successfully installed Jedi Mind Trick using TWRP as it appeared to be the best stable one out there. Used Darksides superwipe and then installed JMT. Still have issue of GSM/HSPA on original phone vs GSM/WCMDA on the phone that now has JMT installed on. I must say, I'm pretty impressed with how easily it installed and the ROM itself however sadly it did not help my conundrum.
I'm thinking that there is probably a developer here up for a challenge that could probably assist me with my problem. I really would like to be able to pick up 4g on this phone, or It's pretty much useless to me. What I need to figure out is how I can change this phone to recognize the HSPA network instead of the WCMDA network as GSM does not appear to be relative to data. Not with Telus anyway it would seem.
Maybe this isn't even possible because it's hard coded into the phone or something. Anyone have any ideas?

Spent almost an hour on phone with Telus tech support. he explained that WCMDA should work fine as that and HSPA are essentially the same thing. Went through several settings changes and edits with him. In the end, he was stumped. The changes we made should have worked but did not. Therefore I supposed I have no choice but to give up. Guess I'll give the phone to my daughter as i don't want her to go online without wifi anyway.
Same issue
My wife recently cracked the screen on her Rugby Pro so I picked up a slightly used Koodo T989D and plugged in the SIM card. I had the same thing happen. Phone booted, made calls, all seemed well. The next day she realized she had no data connection. I rooted the phone, flashed Telus radio, tried different ROMs, even purchased the unlock code for it hoping for a fix. I can't seem to find anything that will allow this phone data connection of any type other than Wi-Fi. I would really appreciate any ideas or information that anyone has on this topic as I'm running out of ideas and buying another replacement isn't an option.

So I hunted and finally answered this question we both had. Go to Settings:Wireless and Networks:Mobile Networks:Access Point Names.
Since my phone was a Koodo phone it lists Koodo SP. Click the menu button then New APN. Name it whatever you want. I called it Telus. APN is sp.telus.com. Scroll down to MMSC and type http: // aliasredirect. net/proxy/mmsc (without the spaces. They won't let me post a 'link'). Under MMSC proxy type 74.49.0.18. MMS port is 80. MCC is 302. MNC is 220. APN type should be Internet + mms. Click the menu button and save. Click the circle behind your newly created APN and wait. In under 30 seconds I had 4G connection.
Hope this helps you.

[Q] 3G/4G Network phone in Edge mode

Hi,I have this issue with my T-Mobile Galaxy S3 (SGHT999)
.It seems to be in the Edge network even though I'm in a 3g/4LTE service area. The phone is slow.I could use a solution and looking for suggestions on how to fix this 4G network phone.I have another Galaxy S3 (SPH-L710) with another carrier with no problems. Well one problem I'm not with that carrier any longer. This phone doesn't have a sim card slot like the T-Moble phone has. The other problem is the wifi reception. Its ok in the room with the router but you go say 30' away and communication is spotty. Other S3 phone I could be 100' away no problem. I thought all Galaxy S3's were the same. Thanx for any help.
What carrier are you using it with? Make sure you have correct apn settings. For the WiFi not sure, 100 foot seems a little extreme for no problems, unless they were different routers
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but Im facing this exact same problem right now. I have two SGH-T999s, both unlocked, and while 4G works perfectly on one, the other only works in GSM/EDGE mode and will find no signal when I switch to WCDMA only. Both phones in the same location, the exact same sim switched between both handsets, works fine on one and not on the other. I have already reset the phone multiple times, reflashed the stock firmware, replaced the stock firmware with CyanogenMod 11 as well as the 12.1 nightly, NOTHING makes a difference. It will stick to GSM and EDGE only and will just not connect in 3G/4G.
At this point, I am guessing this is a hardware problem. The same exact stock firmware has been flashed on both devices, so it cannot be a difference in version. The phone with the trouble has been dropped and has a shattered front glass. I wonder if something else might have been knocked loose when it fell. I opened it up and tried to reconnect the antenna, but noticed that only one end was using a connector, the other end appears to be soldered. I did not try to pull the motherboard out, nor touched the sim tray.
Does anybody have any suggestions on where to look next to troubleshoot this problem?
I am also having this same problem; I've tried everything, including the things on this thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/...ge-on-phone-and-not-34g-imeidata-issue-fixed/
If anyone has found a solution, that would be great...
Check to make sure the imei in About Device isn't blacklisted and that it matches the one under the battery.
If it does and you have Odin flashed the stock firmware and factory reset, it is most likely a hardware problem.
FYI, the antenna you see when you open it up is the wifi antenna, not the cellular one.

Hmm, I saw that there was an IMEI present, but never considered it could be different!!! You are right, the IMEI on the back of the phone does not match the one shown in About Device! How could this have happened? The person who used it before is not someone who fiddles with their phone... The best I can think of is that whoever unlocked the phone for them must have done this!
I did see numerous threads about missing IMEI, but didn't pay attention because mine was not MISSING it! Also noticed it is against xda site rules to even discuss that stuff. But since I inherited a phone that came like this, I guess the mods will forgive me for saying "let me google this"
EDIT: Oh yes, the IMEI on the back of the phone checks out.
Also, did not know the antenna was the wifi one! But since its IMEI related, I guess thats not an issue anymore
Fixed it!!!
UPDATE: As per DocHoliday77's advice, I'm deleting the links and explicit instructions. Suffice it to say all the information you need to do this is available on this site itself.
After @DocHoliday77 pointed out that the IMEI may be incorrect, I did some research and managed to restore my IMEI as well as get 4G back.
I was able to restore my device because I had the advantage of having a fully working device with me from which I could pull the EFS partition as well as get an NV dump. For those that do not have a second device, I do not know how they can get things working again. In anycase, all of the information I needed to accomplish this was found in three threads on this site. The only additional piece of information that T-Mobile users need is that to get your device into Diagnostic mode, the dialer code is *#0808#.
Wanam's Partitions Backup & Restore... does a much better job at backing up the correct partitions for EFS.
EFS Professional for everything else.
And before anybody asks, sorry I cannot provide you a copy of my EFS backups. Only becuase I am not knowledgable enough to know how much personal information is contained in that partition, but given that the IMEI is dependent on it, I hope you can understand why I cannot share mine. Perhaps DocHoliday77 will be able to suggest a way for others to get this sorted out.
That's great that you got it fixed! And kudos for figuring it out on your own!
Though you may want to edit out any instructions and links as they are not allowed to be posted. (Too many people jump on this stuff in an attempt to get stolen devices to work again....highly illegal) (it's why this stuff is so hard to find usually!)
If anyone does have problems with this please feel free to PM me and I will do my best to help.

Compatibility doesn't make sense. Need to get away from T-Mobile.

So, the main issue is that I need to get it away from Tracfone T-Mobile because their service is terrible in my area. I can't seem to get either a Tracfone AT&T or Tracfone Verizon SIM to work yet the phone is compatible (according to the websites respectively) with Cricket wireless (AT&T) and US Cellular (cdma). I don't understand... That is why I brought this question to all of you. I live and work in a rural area and it may sound crazy but all I want to do is make stinking phone calls. Oh and I checked the IMEI and it is not locked by any carrier.
You guys suck...
I know most of you on here probably don't care about my problem cause I'm not looking to root or flash or whatever cause I'm not into that. I JUST WANT A PHONE THAT HAS SERVICE. From what I've read it was probably one of you on these forums that "sim unlocked" this phone in the first place back before you really knew the right way and then when you moved on you sold it as "new in box" to a sucker like me. And now for some reason it will only work with a Tracfone Tmobile sim in it which according to them isn't going to work at all come 01/2021 because they are upgrading the network. Well I also know from wasting endless hours trying to figure out how to [email protected]$ck this phone that it is capable of everything I need it to do, like simply switch it to a different "brand" of sim so I can get better service or operate on VoLTE because apparently that's what most carriers are going to switch to and convince most of the general public to buy a new phone based on the misguided notion that their phone has somehow become obsolete when in fact it isn't.
So if you all would stop passing over my post because my technology knowledge level is down there with an 75-year-old and help me I would appreciate it.
I will pay to send this to someone to "fix" or whatever but I refuse to replace a perfectly good phone because some yutz who didn't know what they were doing when they sim unlocked this phone messed it up and somehow turned a US Cellular version (VMX) into a who knows what that only works on Tmobile, and maybe Cricket (we'll see, the sim is in the mail).
No nead to start two threds about the same thing.
NO your phone will mot stop working... Just chill

This is correct. Read my post I wrote in the other thread about the VOLTE issue.
If the phone supports VOLTE, you need a SIM that is compatible with it!
----------
I have some information that might make all of you guys happy.
I was told by Safelink Wireless that VOTLE is a function of BOTH the phone *AND* the sim card.
Basically, if the phone itself is VOLTE compatible but the sim card is not, then the phone will be reported on their system as not compatible, and will ask you to upgrade your phone.
However if a VOLTE compatible SIM is inserted, if the phone does in fact support VOLTE, it will then work. That's because it's provisioned on the carrier via the sim card itself.
If you purchased a sim via the "Buy your own sim" package, e.g. online or from Best Buy, etc, awhile ago, then that sim is not compatible. You simply need to call Tracphone/Safelink and ask to buy a VOLTE compatible SIM (which costs 99 cents). Then when you get it, call their tech department to have them transfer the phone service and phone number to the new SIM.
You can dial the phone's service menu and go to the VOLTE/GPRI menu and if the options are there, then the phone supports it.

Hey buddy, xda forum does not allow unlocking sims related stuff. You are complaining in the wrong forum.... There are other forums that do that.
