Apple Headset working on the Arc? - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
since I got my Arc about a year ago I was asking myself if there is a tweak or a trick to get my standard Apple headset to work on it.
When I attach it, to my Arc it says something like "The Accessoires are not supported " (I dont know what it really says, my phone language is German )
I would really appreciate any help).
Thx Eike

Apple use TRRS and Xperia use OMTP standard. Don't know if it is possible at all. Some kernel dev should answer.

If the headset has mic support it wont work. Theres a trick, you can hold or tape the mic button and connect. The sound qualiy will be poooor, that doesnt matter because apple headset is a piece of sht.

Does beats works with Xperia play without adapter ?

?????
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
Depends, which Beats? ControlTalk won't work, but with the Solos you get 2 cables. One works.
Look in the forum, as far as I remember this has been posted before but I can't find the post.
Now, to answer you, the short answer is not. And to clarify here's why:
SonyEricsson phones use a (jack) standard called OMTP (also does Nokia), while Sony phones (Xperia P, S, U, etc), Apple and almost every other company uses CTIA.
This obviously means that the headphones won't work, but...
The only difference between those two are the connection layout:
CTIA:
T-Left Audio
R1-Right Audio
R2-Ground
S-Mic
OMTP:
T-Audio Left
R1-Audio Right
R2-Mic
S-Ground
So to make them work you can buy or make an adapter that swaps R2 and S, or one that short-circuits both; the first kind will let you use the mic, volume control etc, while the other kind (a simple extension would do) won't.
Now, if you don't want to use ANY kind of adapter, not even a simple extension there's a way you can make them work:
It is supposed that once you push the central button on a headset (OMTP or CTIA, doesn't matter) what it internally does is short circuit R2 and S, so, if you manage to hold all the time the central button on your beats they should work, nevertheless the mic and so won't work either as their data goes through the S ring.
Being all that said here's an issue, even with the adapter they won't work, I'm not quite sure why, you can see my post about that issue, there I try to make work a headset like the beats on my Xperia.
I hope I helped you
I bought studio. It works.

Bro thanks for this suggestions but I didnt do anything but Studio works with no problem...

Oh, I see... sorry for my rant, I thought that you were talking about the ControlTalk enabled ones , since every 3.5 standard TRS headphone works with almost every phone .
Would a OMTP to CTIA concerter therefore double as a CTIA to OMTP adapter, following circuit logic, making OMTP work on my iPod Nano as well as CTIA on my PLAY?

Nah mate! The hardware restrictions will not allow you, no matter what kinda software you use.
CTIA & OMTP are two different hardware standards!

Beats seemed to work on my phone when I had cm9 but not on gingerbread. Although I might have fake beats: I'm not too sure.

Would these earphones work with my play?

Just want to make sure I'm making a good purchase and these will work without an adapter. Also If anyone has suggestions for in ear headphones in the $20-30 range, I'll gladly hear it!

Hi. It says they are for the Xperia Play, so they should work. If not, just send them back.

[Q] OMTP to CTIA using software.

Hello, Amund here. Recently i bought this headset for use on my Xperia Arc S. Unfortunately the headset was a stereo-headset with a microphone using the CTIA conector type. As i'm sure you know, the Arc S uses the OMTP standard. I've done some reading, and i found out the only difference between these standards are that they have swapped the microphone pin with another pin. ( swapped the pin called R2 with S).
There are some adapter around, but none local, wich means i will have to ship it, but that costs so much.
I was wondering, is there any way to configure the software to make it a CTIA minijack in sted of a OMTP minijack?
I am so sorry if there already is a post about this. I searched xda, but could only find one post, og and nobody had answered to it.
Thanks in advance for replying! (btw, ska I'm a newb on xda and Android in general, so please correct me if im wrong in some ting or some way!

There's no app that could do that because it's a hardware limitation. You can however buy an adapter from ebay
Thanks jman . I have already bought an adapter from ebay, IT was an TRRS adapter wich i was sure was the right ting, og but it did not work. IT had some weird things on the sides of the actual minijack(one more connector) wich then didnt let me plug it to the Phone. I cut the ting off, but then it Just work like a short cable extension.
Gonna try buy an EC250 adapter on amazon, but as ive seen they dont ship to Norway. I have an aunt who said she had bought from amazon many times before. Any ideas it dont work for me? Do i have to register a creditcard first? (ive already made a user and written my location info but then it says it cant ship to that adress. My aunt had the same problem but she found another way of gjetting it shippet, wich she says she have forgot)
Any ideas? again Thanks in advance

Compatibility beats by dre executive and GS3

Are the Beats by dre executives compatible with the GS3? Meaning if the incline mic works with the phone to answer calls control volume and play music?
you should at least do a little search.
it is on the first or second page, a list of compatible headsets.
good luck on finding it. it won't be hard.

I looked at all of them but there is nothing on beats by dre. I read that the powerbeats and Studios don't work. But I was thinking since the executives are fairly new that they might work. I just want conformation on that.

Actually I believe the issue lies in the control talk cable itself. I bought a pair of mixr and had the same issues as everyone else with an Android phone. Apple devices the wiring is done backwards inside the cable. So I got to thinking about reversing but my soldering skills aren't the same. So I thought maybe a new cable, so I found one on ebay, obviously a 3rd party beats knockoff, where it has 2 black rings on the plug and 3 rings where it gets plugged into the phone. And viola they work perfect all features Inc volume.. See the picture I uploaded and u see what I mean

I personally wouldn't buy any beats by dres unless u get a large discount. Like almost half. Otherwise you're being ripped off. But I don't believe any control talk headphones work fully

Headset trouble...

Guyz!
I bought a headset(don't ask the name i really can't make out of whats written on the box.. its chinese ). the first day it worked okay... but now its evident that the left side has more sound than the right one(i hope u get it).. i was just hoping if any of you are aware of an app that balances the sound on the two ear pieces....
hope to get a solution soon... tried jet audio basic but it only works on that app. for normal music app it is a no go...
thanks in advance..

You've tried in other phone? Chinese headsets sometimes stops working fine, when I bought one next week only listen one headset.
Try it, sometimes for that don't have solution.
get an original headset, it's a bit costly but it works fine without problems
(personally i've tried 2 chinese headsets and its worked 1 week...after i buyed az original htc headset i never met problems)
Trouble resolved... A bit of thrashing the troubled speaker.. And knw difference is not noticeable.. I bought a headset of JBL.. So, i guess this post was the most idiotic i cud make.. Thanks for the response guyz...
Regards,
Aditya
