Depends, which Beats? ControlTalk won't work, but with the Solos you get 2 cables. One works.
Look in the forum, as far as I remember this has been posted before but I can't find the post.
Now, to answer you, the short answer is not. And to clarify here's why:
SonyEricsson phones use a (jack) standard called OMTP (also does Nokia), while Sony phones (Xperia P, S, U, etc), Apple and almost every other company uses CTIA.
This obviously means that the headphones won't work, but...
The only difference between those two are the connection layout:
CTIA:
T-Left Audio
R1-Right Audio
R2-Ground
S-Mic
OMTP:
T-Audio Left
R1-Audio Right
R2-Mic
S-Ground
So to make them work you can buy or make an adapter that swaps R2 and S, or one that short-circuits both; the first kind will let you use the mic, volume control etc, while the other kind (a simple extension would do) won't.
Now, if you don't want to use ANY kind of adapter, not even a simple extension there's a way you can make them work:
It is supposed that once you push the central button on a headset (OMTP or CTIA, doesn't matter) what it internally does is short circuit R2 and S, so, if you manage to hold all the time the central button on your beats they should work, nevertheless the mic and so won't work either as their data goes through the S ring.
Being all that said here's an issue, even with the adapter they won't work, I'm not quite sure why, you can see my post about that issue, there I try to make work a headset like the beats on my Xperia.
I hope I helped you
I bought studio. It works.

Oh, I see... sorry for my rant, I thought that you were talking about the ControlTalk enabled ones , since every 3.5 standard TRS headphone works with almost every phone .
Would a OMTP to CTIA concerter therefore double as a CTIA to OMTP adapter, following circuit logic, making OMTP work on my iPod Nano as well as CTIA on my PLAY?

Nah mate! The hardware restrictions will not allow you, no matter what kinda software you use.
CTIA & OMTP are two different hardware standards!

Beats seemed to work on my phone when I had cm9 but not on gingerbread. Although I might have fake beats: I'm not too sure.

Hi All,
I just got a pair of Dr. Dre Beats Tour headphones and the microphone doesn't seem to work with my Android phone. I tried searching a lot and can't seem to find a lot of information on this apart for a few posts with very few details. Does anybody know if there is a way to get the microphone to work? I am currently running Android 2.1.
Thanks!
Has nobody else here run into this issue?

Gonna go ahead and guess this is spam, seeing as you have 1 post... and I said in my first message that I searched a lot but wasn't able to find anything useful.
You probably won't find that much information about this topic, well not useful information anyways. As far as i know, the tour doesn't work on a lot of android phones. The ones we have tested on are, Desire and wildfire. The reseller where we got the headphones from claims that the tour works with Nexus one, however i have not tested it. It would be interesting to know if other brands work...
P.s my beats studio works on all android phones with 3.5mm plug... and i have no idea why as physically, the plug is exactly the same.
Thanks for the info. Yep, I think it has something to do with the ControlTalk features on the cable... I tried my brother's Beats Solo, which came with the same ControlTalk cable, and they also didn't work.
I have an HTC Aria by the way. Just tried with Cyanogen 2.2 and also not working. Seems like we should be able to figure out a way to make this work, especially if it works on the Nexus One... they are both HTC phones after all. I wonder if there's a special driver for it installed on the Nexus One?
No dice on my Evo with my DiddyBeats. Wish I could take them back.
I actually got a Samsung Captivate and the mic works! Plus and minus controls don't, but at least I can answer/hang up/pause music and use the microphone.
And the answer is....
monstercable dot com (directory) mp3 (directory) controltalkworks
check your phone!
list...
Hmm the list is not very up to date....

No htc phones here...
UPDATE: there is hope

click on 4th tab universal controltalk, more comp. devices....!!
Hi guido!
I am in the similar situation...
Have you found a solution to make it work??
I can confirm that controltalk does not work with the Epic 4G either. I am running NebulaROM 2.2.1, and was using the beats solo HDs. Looks like the controltalk universal is the only solution. If I find a place to purchase them online, I'll post links.
I can confirm too. I've got the diddybeats with controltalk and hangup doesn't work. But audio control works (play/pause, next/previous). The mic seems to be work too, but i must hangup manually on the phone.
yea i have the solos and i had the ibeats and the controltalk doesnt work on any android phones it sucks cuz now i have to pull my headphones off and pull the plug out to answer a call on my mt4g running cyanogen mod 7 nightly
This is wider than the Beats Tour.... I have in front of my original Nexus One headset, my Dad's Galaxy S headset, and my Beats Tour with Control Talk.
I call the landline and then used each headset in turn. Only the mic on my original Nexus One headset works!
On the Beasts, the Control Talk button muted and un-muted the call, but no mic!
At the black rings on all the plugs all line-up, I assume it's a driver issue?
At least my Beats work with my iPad....
Can't get the Monster iBeats with ControlTalk or the Etymotic Research HF3 headphones to work with my HTC Desire Z.
FWIW, the inline mic adapters (i.e. Shure Music Adapter microphone, Griffin Smart Talk) allow all the above headsets to work. I had the Shure Music Adapter for my noise-cancelling Sony headphones. I haven't tried to control music, but the inline mic definitely works for calls. The answer / disconnect controls work on the Griffin, haven't accidently hit the button on the Shure yet.
Yes, it does defeat the purpose of the inline mic on the headset and it is a lot of extra cord to deal with... but oh well, its a work around until someone figures it out.
It may be something with powering the inline controls which the HTC phones don't support. If it were a driver issue, I think someone on this forum would have solved it.
HTH,
Ken
what a crock... the mic is totally usable on my POS work curve 8520, but not my android desire z.
epic monster #fail... so pissed.
does anyone know if the original dre beats tour headphones microphone works?

hello, everyone ,I am damjy,it is my first post in this forum,I think it is necessary to make a short introduction,Don't you think so?I am a new member and I join in you just now,I am so glad to be here.Have a good time .
IIRC while reading thru the Head-fi forums, the beats are designed to be compatible for iphones.
IMHO, if you are looking for quality sounding headphones, just stay away from Dre Beats, Diddy beat, Bieber beats, GaGa beats, Ludicris new phones or even Bose. They suck, overpriced and just really great marketing and branding like Apple,
I use Panasonic HJE-900 and Custom Shelled TF10 myself.
Guys,
I think the ones you are after are the 'Controltalk UNIVERSAL'.
The standard 'controltalk' is designed for the Apple products I think.
Ok, I just bought a pair of a-JAYS One+ earphones for their "supposed" Android compatibility. Unfortunately, when I plug them in I just get "Accessory not supported".
Is there anyway to make them to work? Android won't even play any sound out of them.
whats gonig on is not with 'android' but with 'sony'... they went the extra mile in making sure their product isn't 'penetrated' by any devices other than sony brand. the phone should have came with a short adapter which clearly states it supports non-sony accessories. im still searching how to fix this on stock rom but my bootloader is unlocked (paid, thanks again jinx) and with other roms like cm7.2 the error and issue does not occur.

So it's not a hardware problem but a software problem? The phone could actually support it if it wasn't for Sony?
I tried these headphones on CM 7.2.0 and they barely worked. In fact they only worked when you pressed the mic button, I think they are incompatible overall due to Sony having a different voltage on their headset jack

they dont work because they have a attachment for controlling the phone which pretty much rules them out straight away.
short story sony change the voltages to **** with 90% of headphones besides there own brand
the only headphones i can personally recommend are sennnhieser hd202 as they work perfectly for me without an adapter.
i dont even have an adapter actually so i cant try others but it seems that you need a decent pair of headphones or sony ericsson. (by decent i mean a very good make of high quality audio equipment)
Hey,
since I got my Arc about a year ago I was asking myself if there is a tweak or a trick to get my standard Apple headset to work on it.
When I attach it, to my Arc it says something like "The Accessoires are not supported " (I dont know what it really says, my phone language is German )
I would really appreciate any help).
Thx Eike

Apple use TRRS and Xperia use OMTP standard. Don't know if it is possible at all. Some kernel dev should answer.

If the headset has mic support it wont work. Theres a trick, you can hold or tape the mic button and connect. The sound qualiy will be poooor, that doesnt matter because apple headset is a piece of sht.

Hi there people, I am looking for to buy a nice set of in-ear headphone for my HTC one X, however I have realized by trying a cuple that i have here at home, the sound is actually really bad when I use a different set of headphones, nevertheless when i use the original ones that came with the phone it sounds better, but, to be honest for me they do not seem to be the best ones, I am always using the same app for music which is PowerAmp which I really love. Now what I need to know is that if some other users have experienced the same situation, not to say problem, cause i really do not want to buy a new and perhaps a expensive set of in-ear headphone if they are going to be as crappy as the rest i have tried so far. Any sugestions, advices are always welcome, and, if you also want to share and recomend your experiences with other headphones i am always willing to read about it.
Thanks and Regards
Well since the HOX is made with beats inside wouldn't it make sense getting beats headphones? Just saying.

Yes you're right bro, however that's the problem, honestly I don't like beats :S LOL, that's the reason why I was looking for another option, but thanks for your quote. BTW, I forgot to mention that on the previous message, sorry.

Are the Beats by dre executives compatible with the GS3? Meaning if the incline mic works with the phone to answer calls control volume and play music?
you should at least do a little search.
it is on the first or second page, a list of compatible headsets.
good luck on finding it. it won't be hard.

I looked at all of them but there is nothing on beats by dre. I read that the powerbeats and Studios don't work. But I was thinking since the executives are fairly new that they might work. I just want conformation on that.

Actually I believe the issue lies in the control talk cable itself. I bought a pair of mixr and had the same issues as everyone else with an Android phone. Apple devices the wiring is done backwards inside the cable. So I got to thinking about reversing but my soldering skills aren't the same. So I thought maybe a new cable, so I found one on ebay, obviously a 3rd party beats knockoff, where it has 2 black rings on the plug and 3 rings where it gets plugged into the phone. And viola they work perfect all features Inc volume.. See the picture I uploaded and u see what I mean

I personally wouldn't buy any beats by dres unless u get a large discount. Like almost half. Otherwise you're being ripped off. But I don't believe any control talk headphones work fully
