Task Manager - what are you doing...? - HTC One X

Hi,
I've noticed I can't use such apps as JuiceDefender ultimate, PhoneLocator Pro or anything that is a background service etc
1 click on 'clear all' in HTC's own Task Manager App & they are gone.
Sure, I understand it says clear 'all' but this is badddd news.
I also understand its probably due to HTC's change in multi tasking.
However, regarding the In-built task manager app,
Other phones I've had only show regular apps that don't automatically start as a background service, HTC's task manager is clearing Everything.
What are people doing to work around this?

[Q] What's a good alternative to the Samsung "Program Monitor" widget?

I like the concept of the program monitor because I can see if left anything running. I'm obsessed with closing apps when I'm not using them.
What I dont like about it is that it needlessly takes up 2x1 units of space. Is there a good 1x1 widget that does the same thing? I dont want to have to enter a task killer just to see the list of running apps, I just want a number in a widget that shows how many... If it's not 0 I can click it.
hi
Systempanel bij nextapp must have!
That app's not bad. But the widget part is butt ugly and just allows you to kill everything. It's close to what I want but I like the the program monitor's number of foreground apps displayed.
Visual Task Switcher is not perfect but sorta gives me what I want but extending the home menu functionality and showing active windows as popups.

Unfortunately, only the beta available for try now. The ads supported version should be available soon.
Search for active apps on xda and you will find one.

How can I avoid unnecessary memory use by BLUR services I don't use?

Hi all
On my defy I removed almost all BLUR widgets from the homescreen. In total i have 2 BLUR contact widgets, the BLUR date/time and the BLUR agenda widget.
No news, no social network, no wweather... after all I don't even have a BLUR account.
Despite this, almost all BLUR services are still running, including (amongst others) 3 weather services I will never use.
I have 2 questions:
1) Is there a way to prevent these services from running apart from rooting the phone and renaming APK's
If not,
2) Do these services get swapped out when the phone is running low on memory? I know apps do, but services?
Have you tried using an app killer? You can add them to the auto end list and any time they try to run, the task killer will end them saving the usage for you...
Other than that, rooting may be your best option.
I think the stock Task Manager is only available on the US version. (W/the app killer). I have all my Blur set to update on wifi only. Don't know if that will help you.

[Q] Clarification on "swiping" away apps in the app switcher?

I've seen conflicting reports on IF it in fact closes the application by swiping it away in the app switcher.
Can someone clear it up with some kind of evidence?
According to TaskKiller, it does. Open TaskKiller and then swipe away apps from the ICS running apps list. They also disappear from the TaskKiller pane.
What I'm saying is that it *does* close apps, but not all running apps are always located in that list. If an app opens in the background, it won't display in that list.

How do I whitelist a Widget (T2T)?

Hello!
I use Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 4G as a phone, and I have a timer for the calls called T2T.
It works just fine BUT every time I use the Advanced Task Killer it also kills the widget and resets the minutes in the app!
I cannot find anyhwere how to add this app to a Whitelist / ignore list as only programmes (not widgets) can be found in Advanced Task Killer settings.
How do I include widgets in task-killer whitelist/ ignore list?
Thank you!

List of apps or services that can be disabled safely? Best app to disable background

I am using AIO Toolbox which has a function to disable user apps and system apps from starting with the phone, since most of those are installed i figure they arent important and i can disable them all but with system apps its a bit more difficult to know and there are 168 in total
For example a system app that i never use is google music, briefing, cnn for edge panel, fb, game launcher, gear vr, game tools, yahoo etc;
Should i use AIO toolbox is there a better way to do so, is there any adverse effect, or does samsung automatically not allow those never used apps to affect battery life
