I'm looking for a particular rom. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I'm looking for a VERY STABLE rom compatible with streamline kernel (I want great battery life).
It must have stock icons or close to stock in looks. Data performance isn't a must as long as it's not worst than stock. So in order of preference :
1. Stable (no voice echo or other issues) with streamline kernel.
2. stock like icons or isc icons or something close (don't like slikmod 3.6 icons).
I tried beastmod 5 and like it. But I heard it leaks ram (don't know what that means or how to check it).
I tried slikmod 3.4 but battery life isn't great.
I tried slicmod 3.6 but I hate the icons and the theme.
I tried DW 2.5.1 but I got voice echo when calling another S2. I can always try again though.
I want to try DW 2.7 but read about the problems it has. Will streamline kernel fix those problems?
I tried bluray Tuesday but didn't really like the theme.
I'm on slikmod 3.4 now and like it except the battery life. But thinking of
going back to beastmod because of the better battery life.

You can always add the Beats mod, which isn't that good anyways. Voodoo sound is by far better.

Try out Megamix. It's close to stock, removes bloatware, fast, great battery life, and it's ICS!!
The only downside to this rom that it doesn't have the sound stuff that you wanted.
Check it out if your interested!
Hoped I helped you out! Enjoy!

Darkside
Sent from the darkside of my Galaxy S III.

I just edited the OP. Don't care about sound enchancements.

Darkside is very stable. I've been running this rom since beta 3 was released.. everything works great

try the new ICS by darkside, very stable to me

Darkside Evolution gets my vote as well. It's my daily driver and beta 3 is pretty stable. I'll more than likely migrate to CM9 once that team gets source code and puts it out but TDJ does some excellent Dev work.

If you want a gingerbread ROM, then I suggest either MR x's stock CIQ free ROM ( excellent battery life ), or Juggernaut 5.0.. both have been outstanding for me..
if you like ICS then I suggest darkside.. there are probably other good ones but it works for me so I stuck with it ( plus it has terrific AOSP themes and mods )

Recommend me a ROM please!

I'm not picky here, I just want a stable ROM with 4G and the main stuff working. I just ask that for something with good battery life. I'm currently using Baked Snacks 1.9 and it drains crazy fast.
On a side note, hopefully the installation is easy. Are all the new ROM's requiring you to wipe the SD card, format, etc? What happened to just installing the zip?
I recommend CM7. Use the 7.0.1 stable version.

The voice mail does work:
-on a sense rom, verify the app works
-backup the app and data with titanium backup
-flash back to CM7
-restore app and data with titanium backup
I use google voice, but I personally like that.
I'll give it a try then! Any ideas on kernel? Stick with stock or is there a recommended one for battery life?
Myns warm 2.2 rls 5 has it all and its stable. CM7 has given some problems. They can be worked out but be prepared.

For CM7, Timatt kernel...3.3.7 or 4.02 are the best. DO NOT USE 4.0.0, as it broke cameras left and right.

Destroyer v2 rom or end of days
it's awsome with transitions battery life suks but wwith a custom kernel it's badass
and if u want great battery life flash a kernel for a aosp rom try tiamat's 4.0.2 sbc or savaged zen
for a sense based rom try netarchy oh and dude if u like ur rom but hate battery life u can just flash a kernel
It could be something other than the rom. Have you tried calibrating your battery? If you're in a crappy coverage area, flashing a new rom won't help (much). Also be sure to turn off your radios when not in use - 3g/4g, wifi, gps, bluetooth, etc. When I can, I use wifi. It saves a ton of battery over 3g/4g and it's always faster... at least for me.
But I'd still flash a new rom, just for fun
Sent from my Evo using Tapatalk
try the original destoryer rom( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988684&highlight=destroyer ) along with tiamats 3.3.8 or tiamats 3.3.8 with sbc depending if you like sbc or not ( http://www.tiamat-aosp.com/downloads.php/ ). i get about 14-20 hours of moderate to heavy use.
do cm7 for sure.
both of the destroyers are based on cm7, and both are sadly out of date. end of days is the newer version of destroyer, and is more in date, but still flash cm7 nightly.
i would wait until the next nightly comes out. that'll have fixed mms. or just flash stable 7.0.3.1.
either way tiamat 4.0.2 is the bomb.
agreed... cm7 nightlies with tiamat 4.0.2 is killer
flashing decks gingerbread as we speak...
Check out Koni's Elite series 3...... everything works and it is the fastest sense room available....... it is flawless and does not get enough credit.....everyone should check this out......i have tried all of them and this is by far the best.....imho

I use MikFroYo v4.6 it runs and feels like stock. I have never found a problem with his roms.
AOSP: SalvageMod, Deck's Gingerbread, CyanogenMod
Sense: Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo, MikFroyo, AvaFroyo, Azrael, Fresh
End of Days ! (click on my siggy and get EOD v1)
it is based on recent cm7 (everything works)
and...
ive found a way to tweak the colors and make it look super smooth!!
but.....
for battery life you can get that with ANY rom. just need to do a little more homework on whats going on with your phones curent congifuration.
Virusrom Gingersense is awesome. Lockscreen and tabs in notification and sweet ass sweet. Long as you use stock kernal everything works. Oh and Virus gives props to the Cyanogen guys for the elements in his rom. Bunch of pretty stuff. Battery life is phenomenal also. Lost 3% idle overnight. I'm happy happy.

Cm9/aokp/arhd

OK I know its my personal preference to choose between roms, but i also want to know yours. I like arhd cause other stability and stock feel, but aokp is also great since I get much more control of my phone, with that said sometimes , this 'control' can lead to stability issues with the rom. So what do you think is bettr overall?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
ARHD is more stable, AOKP has 4.0.3 and more mods. Just try it.
Im on ARHD btw
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
AOKP because it is 4.0.3 and has more choices for kernels such as Franco.
AOKP is more stable than ARHD imo. Stick to milestones if you're worried about stability.
I switched to AOKP after being on ARHD.
AOKP has more customization, less boot time and more battery!
The only instances of instability I had on this device came when using ARHD. Currently using AOKP and it absolutely flies with Franco's kernel. 4.0.3 is a massive leap over 4.0.2, it's like moving from a beta build to final. Having in built mods is one of the benefits of choosing a ROM built from source, and not just based on the stock images.
Regards.
AOKP here also, fast and stable...never had a reboot, blazing fast with franco's kernel overclocked @1350mhz.

i'm happy with ARHD 2.1.3 (4.0.2)
is there a changelog for 4.0.3, what incentives are there to upgrade, my phone is stable and fast as it is.
LE: found something: http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-4.0.3.html
but they seem more API improvements rather than actual bug fixes or new (visible/usable) features
also here
http://dkgadget.com/upcoming-androi...on-new-camera-capabilities-and-tons-of-fixes/
"....tons of fixes" -> like what for example?
Both are great ROMs, and I've used both. I'm going with AOKP for now, because you get:
4.0.3
toggles in notification bar
4 way lock screen
raised the default auto brightness default (fixable on ARHD)
Hold back button to kill app (die facebook, die)
Power menu add-ons
No stability issues for me (build 17)
Yesterday I had 1 day and 1.5 hours, with about 2.5 hours screen time on auto brightness
AOKP just saves me a lot of trouble with its built in tweaks, so I don't have to go hunt them down myself.
One con: the unicorn boot animation... Easily fixable though, there are a bunch of boot animation choices in the themes section.

The overall smoothness and performance of apps, especially the browser, is much improved. When I was using ARHD, I was slightly disappointed with this device coming from a SGS2 and could understand the threads and posts about lag etc.
I challenge you to try a 4.0.3 ROM and come back and tell me it isn't a much faster/smoother experience.
Here is an example of the improved browser performance on The Verge website, which was famously shown to lag heavily on many video reviews (4.0.2).

I don't see how ARHD is more stable. I never had a single reboot with AOKP build 19.
judging from what you guys have said aokp looks like the winner here, and yes I've got to say browser is much improved from stock 4.0.2. Then again I need to try out arhd. But I will most likely use cm9 when it releases it final. Has anyone used the alpha builds? How are they on battery life?

I thought ARHD might be more stable but to my surprise and delight I've had an even better experience with AOKP.
It's hard to beat anything AOSP based, especially with so many mods and tweaks. Usually you sacrifice stability with ROMs like this but not in this case. It's amazingly well polished and I have no complaints at all. Blown away with AOKP.

My thoughts exactly - I was hesitant at first to move away from ARHD because stability is important for me. I've been running AOKP this past week (milestone 2) and just loaded on the franco kernel the other day and my phone has been MORE stable. On ARHD I did have the occasional hiccup/stutter/lag and an odd issue where my touchscreen failed me - fixed only with a battery pull.
Since AOKP + franco - no issues with an overall smoother experience. Battery life has been comparable to ARHD + faux123 v10 mainline kerrnel - well over a full day's use without even thinking about reaching for my charger
Haven't even tried arhd, but I use AOKP, I like it. 4.0.3 or bust

What he said.
are you all using the stock kernel that came with AOKP or Franco?
If franco, what are your governor settings, UV settings, etc?
with AOKP do you mean
[ROM][AOSP 4.0.3] Android Open Kang Project - maguro build 20
??
Yes either the latest build or the milestone 2. The builds are nightlys and are updated more frequently with the newest features but they may be more buggy. That said many people on the forums seem to run them without much issue. The milestone releases are meant to be bugfree and complete as described in the AOKP thread.
I'm using the default Franco settings - I don't think I know better than he does when it comes to optimizing a kernel and I have no complaints with regards to performance or battery life..
Ive been using AOKP and Franco since i got my Nexus last week, and its worked beautifully. This morning i switched to LeanKernel in order to see if it would improve battery life. Will report back on my findings.
Sorry I'm new from the Nexus S, but is AOKP similar to CM? I pretty much always used CM derivatives.

Been using it since it was released myself. Had some bad luck with a couple of the previous releases but this one has been pretty good.
yeah but now so far so good !!!!!! if you need any help let me know ???

4.0 is an amazing release. I get the best battery life and performance I've ever had with this phone on 4.0. The 4.0.3 alpha he made is great as well. Only for testers tho. You can go to his site to find out more.
My first Rom I flashed for the Epic touch. Haven't looked back.
setup and 3g speed tweeks
agree ..im using fb15 modem ...gunslinger kernel....v4.0 and also did the 3g speeds tweek which clears the sprint settings and so far so good ....you guys might want to try if anyone needs help you can get at me or i can post the link !!!!!
What is the sprint tweak? i haven't heard of this. Also, i noticed that when im running gunslinger my crt animation is fuzzy, are you experiencing this?
Thanks
EDIT: I found the post about tweaking 3g settings

i have never had a fuzzy screen issue ....but if you are having that i might recommend that you go into your recovery and do a fix permission .....i have read some post of people doing this !!!!!!!!!!! the only thing i can think of is to make sure you have not done any kind of tweek changes that you were not sure of ??? or check some forums on xda to see what other people have done to fix the issue....the sprint tweeks that i have done were to the 3g settings to make it faster and take out the settings that sprint gives you .......you can check out this video link to see if you wanna do it also.... i have done it and ran some speed tests and it def improved my phone...good luck

Solid so far
Yay, my first post! *pop* I had Blazer 3.9, switched to New Senzation cause of battery life issues, but flashed 4.0 last night... so far so good! Battery life is definitely improved. I was having some auto-brightness issues at first, but they seem to have resolved themselves after a few reboots. (?) And in case anyone was wondering, I can confirm that the hotspot is hacked & working, because I'm using it right now. Holla!
Next up - figuring out how to add the Hoolm ICS Battery Style mod from Phantom's homepage.
4.0 is nice I personally had better luck with 3.8 though (many did not but my phone loved 3.8 for some reason) Put my friend on 4.0 however and he loves it.
Blazer 4.0
Blazer Rom 4.0 and 4.1 beta are awesome.....
Been on Blazer 4.0 for a few weeks and love it. Great battery life, snappy and responsive. Can't wait for his ICS to be released.

What are the difference between these roms?

Nitrious 1.4.7 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486126
Classic v0.1.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312414&page=1192
Synergy ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1144447
----------------------------------------------------------------
1) any pros' and cons' with each one?
2) What Kernels each one is on?
3) which one is more "minimalist" inregards to Apps
4) In order from best to least: Battery Life
---------------------------------------------------------------
What I need is a ROM with working 4g, GPS and Camera
The phone is used for work.
I drive all over place, putting 100+ miles a day, so GPS is very important for me.
All my jobs are recieved via Google email.
I rather use 4g to pick my gps loc quickly and get load my emails quickly..
At the moment, I have to wait 3-5min for the email to be recieved and/or open to read. My GPS sometimes tells me, can not find my current location and it sucks. TIME is money in my line of work. Every wasteful minutes I can cut off = more money for me.
Camera and Video Recorder is another thing mandatory in my work. Uploading and sending it to corporate. Speed speed speed (4g)
During my drive time - I use my phone as a radio..
work hours - 10-12hrs a day.. so I need a rom that will benefit me the most.
I make alot of phone calls, alot of emailing, uploading pics and videos (short under 1min). I tend to stay on 4g as much as I can before I switch to 3g or turn it off during downtimes. I would like to have 4g on all day (10-12hr) before recharging. I do have a recharger in my car though, so I would say there is atleast 1-2hrs worth of charge time during my working hours.
I was told to check these 3 roms out but can't see what the difference are.
thank you in advance.
Well. I can only speak on Nitrous as I haven't tried the others. But I will say, if you aren't concerned about having the prettiest toy, its a great one. Very smooth. Expect a stock type of rom with alot of CPU speed tweaks baked in. Very similar to the stock in terms of what it gives you visually. Some nice little graphical changes but nothing impressive.
Its very good for what you are looking for. I never had a problem with the GPS. Battery life was about on par with stock. But I would recommend rom toolbox pro and under clocking the kernel .
I actually always keep this rom on my SD in case something happens crazy with the current one. That way I can always flash back to something minimalistic and stable. Give it a shot...
...I must let you know tho CM9 has been very stable for me as well and you get 4.0.4 opposed to Nitrous 2.3.5
CM9 is so far the best rom I've flashed so far. Only downside is battery life has been iffy at best.
Give MIUI from swiper a try also. 2.3.2 was very nice. Stay away from MIUI ICS builds. They've been quite buggy for me so far.
Hope that helps. GL
With less clutter here than your other thread, I will throw a loop:
Try Cyanogenmod 7.2 everything works nearly flawless. I use gps status app, and if you need more accuracy use galandy's gps fix (search for these).
You do need to flash gapps as well, for your google services. Just download the rom and gapps from cyanogenmod.com
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I don't agree with trying 7.2 cynogenmod, a great rom, but wouldn't be good for your situation. 7.2 is a AOSP rom which doesn't give you the capability of updating your prl, which should be a priority if your traveling and on the go. Out of the three roms, synergy is outdated and the developers have moved on. Classic 0.1.0 is a optimized base rom that is strippped down and meant for performance. If you like a stock feel, definitely a good choice. Nitrous is a 1.0 sense rom that's very fast, would be my choice of the three. If you want my opinion, I wouldn't choose any of the three. Go with a senseless 1.0 rom, which has sense stripped out. This gives you more internal memory, faster speeds, and makes for a fast phone. Here's my choices based on the public's opinion of what is the best out right now for our EVO.
1. senseless - Alter RC2 rom
2. sense - tommytomatoes finale
3. AOSP - Deck's Reloaded
I simply flash 00001.prl by tecknowfile.
Prl's are fairly universal imo
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Simple enough then, jump on the bandwagon and get Deck's Reloaded .44, definitely fastes rom on our evo at the moment, has working 4G, and all the google apps are inverted black to give a sexy sleek feel.
With even LESS clutter, read the threads and SEE what the differences are

4.04 is icecream sandwiched while 2.3.5 is gingerbread
Cm9 is based off ice cream sandwich(4.xx)
Cm7 is based off gingerbread (2.3x)
Tommy finale is based off gingerbread and so is any sense based Rom for the EVO. No ics for awhile
Miui has both an ice cream version and gingerbread version. You're going to have to search that. In order to over and underclock the CPU, you need a custom kernel. If you use tommys Rom (my current setup) I would use the underground kernel by ca1ne. ROM tool box will help with that. Or system tuner. Another good app

Sorry bud for the lack of a good explanation. These guys are all correct in directing you to the rom that would suit you best. Especially the last post. Mini is great and easy but stuck to a gingerbread base if you like it.

you have me intriqued with the senseless 1.0 rom. I could care less for bloat apps and other bs. So the less, the better. With that said, senseless 1.0 = senseless - Alter RC2 rom???

Senseless just means that Rosie is stripped out of the rom which takes up to much space and memory. Alter rom comes with Go Launcher Ex baked in as the launcher, but you can choose any launcher your comfortable with. The only reason why I recommend Alter rom is because it is the fastest/snappiest senseless rom available. Using a2sd, I was using less than 60 MB internal space. Great for gaming and battery life. Graynode is the developer and is releasing 1.0 later this week, but RC2 is worth it. Just to clarify, it is a 1.0 sense based rom, similar to what came stock on your Evo, but the Rosie and everything sense has been stripped out of it, hence the name "senseless".

MiNCO v5 or Bugless Beast (JB)

I'm looking to switch from CM10 as I've been having issues with the GPS locking.
I'm looking at Bugless Beast and MiNCO v5. Both look very interesting to me with minimal tweaks, perhaps just enough to increase performance, battery, with important features like expanded power menu without the bloat of having every feature under the sun.
Have you tried both? What do you think?
Think YOU should try both and make up your own mind what works best for you.
Yeah I might do just that. Would still like to hear some opinions
I'm currently using BB since JB was released and it has truly been stable. I use Franco Kernel with it and man.....lightning fast and smooth.
I've been wanting to try MiNCO v5 since it seems to pair well with Franco Kernel but after reading the threads for MiNCO v5, there seems to be some instability.
Minco v5 seems to work great, but the color seems to have a blueish tint to it. Takes a bit to get used to. Alternatively I have been using udK's stock rom and find it to be just awesome. Performance is great and he just added the expanded power menu. Stock kernel that he includes performs wonderfully but I found the LeanKernel will also give you great performance + very stable WiFi.

Xenon HD with trinity install and profit
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
As DroidDavi said Xenon HD + trinity is by far the best of all worlds, i get around 20hour battery with 3 to 4 hours on with edge(3g always off) or wifi, with usage that includes light weight games, browsing and lots of whatsapp
best feature of all is the navbar command in the system ui, which i linked with LMT and made a swipe gesture that shows/hides navbar on the fly for more screen space, its very legit.
But I highly recommend you play around with most of the mainstream ROMs and judge for yourself since everyone has unique preferences
Buglessbeast is the most stable out of all (besides rasbean of course).
I personally prefer Minco over Bugless Beast. But I suggest you try Rigel before you make a decision!
just installed BB and its good so far. Thanks for the suggestions.. will have to give MiNCO and Rygel a whirl too
