[Q] What ROM would you reccomend for me based on:

Hi, I have not changed ROMs in a while. I used to have Skyraider Vanilla and now I have Senseless Revolution. While I like my current ROM, after like 2 months of stableness, I got a boot-loop and had to restore (and I lost quite a bit). So, I now want a new ROM. But, there are soooooo many choices. While I would like to try them all, I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a few based on my preferences:
-Stability: I want a ROM that is very stable--no boot loops!
-Battery Life: I want a ROM/kernel that gets good battery life.
-Performance: I want something pretty fast, but speed is not a top priority for me.
-Features: I really am not into all of the fancy aesthetics. I don't use widgets and I use Launcher Pro. So, I guess I don't need/want a Sense ROM.
-Random: I really like a black notification bar, so anything that has the ability to have one is preferred.
Overall, I guess I just want something very simple with good battery life and pretty good speed. If you guys could recommend a few ROMs/kernels to try out I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

Honestly, I had skyraider 3.2 sense for months and I finally made the switch to Cyanogenmod 7 nightly and I've been so happy about it. Only a few kinks here and there but nothing a reboot can't fixed. RC2 just got announced as well for it and it's pretty stable. Battery life on it has been awesome as well, but I use set cpu for underclocking and screen off profiles.
Key notes: Very fast rom, no 720p camera.

CM7 = CyanogenMod 7, so no difference there.
Nightlies just refers to the fact that releases are pushed out (or I should say, were pushed out) every night.
If you flash the newest nightly then you are flashing the most recent upgrades/fixes/etc, but you also risk a slight chance that an instability has been recently introduced. For example, on a recent nightly, GPS problems cropped up, but then they were fixed a day or two after they were discovered.
The RC's are the Release Candidates. They are supposed to be stable releases that could potentially be the "final product." RC2, however, the last RC for CM7, had mixed results in the community. I'd say you're better off flashing the most recent nightly.

MAGNOLIA (Desensitized!)
With either the stock kernel or HeyItsLou's kernel (for stability/battery life)
I am running this desensitized (LauncherPro Plus user here) but with Ziggy's kernel (I like to overclock) and have NO bootloops. It is fast because it is re-engineered, and it is even faster after desensitizing!
Even with my overclocking habits, I consistently get 6 hours of UPTIME with heavy use, and 7 if you bump charge and turn the screen down a bit
Pros: It has 720p video recording, a redone "Matte Sense" theme, which means its not flashy, but very nice on the eyes!
CM7 is nice, but I had many, many bootloops on RC2 and the nightlies around that time.

I use a combination of CM7RC1 and incredikernel 2.6.37.4. I also use Go Launcher EX. ADW is just so darn slow for some reason. Plus I like the scrollable dock. It also reduces the need for an app manager and task killer cuz it does all those built into the app drawer. So far no reboots or freezes. And only so far PDANet was crashing, but I just reinstalled it and all was fine. Other than that this setup has been more smooth than OG Sense.

[Q] The Best ROM experience ? share pls.

If you want sense try This one. It is by far my favorite sense rom as of right now. If you don't want sense OMFGB is the most stable, and fast non-sense rom I have used.

Ok, I'll bite
Best in term's of:
1.stability - Currently running Miui 1.8.19 Very stable. Unity also very stable for me.
2.design - Depends on if you want a Sense based rom or AOSP Rom... Unity for Sense was great. I love Miui for the customization's.
3.compatibility - So far I have been able to use any of the usual apps that I would run with the stock non rooted rom.
4.usability - Miui has been a very usable daily driver for me. MMS works, calls have no issues. Wifi works... Don't use BT so can't say on that.
5.user experience - very good
6.support for new updates - Haven't need to use this yet. But from what I have seen, the support on most of the roms we have available is good.
7.user friendly - I would say that the Sense based roms may be more user friendly to someone that has been using Sense based roms. Miui is pretty simple to get the hang of as well as the other AOSP (Cyanogen and others).
8.no bug's - only bug I have found in Miui, is the soft touch keys don't rotate when going to landscape mode. No biggie as I didn't expect them to.
9.Global mode - Haven't used this yet.
10.Battery life - Battery life has been great with both Unity and Miui. This could be due to the fact of the custom Kernals and being UV'd. Both have easily lasted all day under heavy use. I plug into the charger at night before going to bed, and generally have 40% battery left.

I'm running CM7 Nightlies #48
1.stability - extremely stable so far. The only FC I get is when I first boot up ADW EX FC's, but I think it's because I'm impatient
2.design - I love the look of vanilla android. If you don't, or think it's boring, you won't like it. There are boat load of themes, though. And the great thing is all CM7 themes are compatible, regardless of which phone
3.compatibility - I haven't ran into any apps that I can't run
4.usability - very usable. Don't really know how to answer this
5.user experience - excellent, with all the customizable options
6.support for new updates - nightlies, lol
7.user friendly - I would say it is user friendly for anyone who is on XDA. Maybe not your average user, though
8.no bug's - none that I've ran into. Some complain about low volume in calls, but I don't experience that
9.Global mode - haven't tested
10.Battery life - excellent. I can easily get through a day

As for omfgb the phone was broken when I tried it. Omgb was pretty much flawless. As of now I'm running the gingersense rooted stock with great results.

I ran OMFGB for a while, it performed well. I really like it because it is slimmed down AOSP but still has some nice features. Didn't seem to have much bugs, but nightlies can always produce bugs for people. OMGB 1.2 is the stable version of it.
Running Miui now because I wanted something different. Its performing well but it doesnt seem as quick OCd at 1.3 as OMFGB was OCd at 1.3 for me. The theme manager and customization in Miui though are awesome. Battery seems good so far.

Grabbed Skyraider Zeus today.....similar to mik Rom mix.....same great stable performance....with a few more features...at least so far lol

Only bug I have ran into is that it wont install certain skins. Not really a big deal but could be a breaker for some people. I tried honeybread, glasssense, and one other cant remember and none of them worked. Carbon fiber one does though.

I VERY highly suggest ANY ROM posted by "newtoroot" he has four great and different ROMs. They each have a few bugs, it just depends on your taste as to if the things bother you. Some people can use it as a daily others can't.
ihftp69, release a preview ROM of his SkyRaider Zeus, and is, afaik completely bug free 2.1 Sense ROM experience with sense 3.0 components.

MIUI has been my daily driver for about 2 weeks now. Everything works (MMS, BT, Wifi, etc) and the themes are awesome. Very consistent with updates and has a great dev team. Haven't seen any FCs from the system apps. Also, battery life is great.

Have to echo this remark. Going on a week with MIUI and have had no issues outside of it resetting yesterday while playing around with the music player it came with. Battery is on par with stock, but having a pretty UI means I play with the phone a lot more .

I'm not sure what Launcher Puerto is, but you can run Launcher Pro it takes away some of the MIUI experience, but all the menu's and stuff are different. Quite a unique rom

I really like the OMFGB roms, very stable, everything works and its fast. I also like the MIUI rom. I really love that fact that I can use the torch from the home lock screen by pressing the home key! MIUI also has a great dev community as well. It's really a personal preference, but as far as performance, I like those two the best.

Here is another vote for MIUI. Great stable ROM.

If you want some sense 3.0 features, the SkyRaider Zeus beat them all in stability and functionality, haven't found any bugs yet. Virtuous Unity came in close 2nd if you can live with the compass being backward, it lag a bit during first startup, overall it doesn't feel as smooth as Zeus even at 1.3Ghz. Gingerbang 1.5 is my number 1 choice if I want something close to stock, very snappy even at stock speed and it gave me the best battery life even after i overclocked to 1.2Ghz.

I switch between GingerSense and MIUI with great results from both. Exchange nuances keep me coming back to Sense-based ROMs, but MIUI in terms of customization taunts me constantly.
Stability has been great on both as well as compatibility.

Best ROM?

I am having a serious amount of trouble trying to decide what ROMs to flash and which to leave in the dust. I'm also contemplating cyanogenmod, but it's still beta. HELP!

"best" is really subjective. Everyone has their own tastes. I say stick with stock for a while, at least you know you will get the OTA updates. If it meets your needs, great. Read up on the features of each ROM, and see if any of the features are interesting to you, try them out.

I know it's subjective. I want a general idea of what the best ROM would be all around. I'll wait for cyanogenmod 9... Either way, I'm happy with stock, I see so many ROMs in the development section that I feel confused. And I only wanted a general, basic suggestion. Maybe you (or someone else) could give me at least that?

Little enhancements for ICS. Speed enhancements. Optimizations. Tweakability. Flashing different kernels for OC and UV support (although I don't fully understand it). insecure boot image. Root (although you don't necessarily need a custom ROM for the latter two)...
Not a big fan of themes.
I guess, I've used cyanogen exclusively on my Nexus One, and my Nexus S. I want to branch out and try other ROMs, but I'm also not a flash head. I'd rather find one good ROM and stick with it (like I'm doing with stock). I've tried MoDaCo's (Paul O'Brien's stuff) and Android Revolution HD, and I feel like they're not too different than stock, so I revert back. What do you use?

Try out the gummi rom. It's based off the 4.0.3 build and basically stock, which IMO is perfect. It has the extended power down menu (reboot/recovery/bootloader), the battery percentage in the battery icon. And the Gapps for it includes Google Wallet which is nice. The kernel it's running can be overclocked and undervolted. All in all its a very nice looking rom and I haven't ran into a problem with it yet.

I prefer Android Open Kang Project by Roman, or Bigxie's AOSP 4.0.3 stock w/optimizations (currently using) with Franco Kernel (nightly 3)

Thanks man, I just feel like I don't want to deal with nightlies. This phone is my daily driver so I want something stable. That's why stock is kicking so much ass right now. But obviously owning a Nexus I feel like I missing out on some really important mods and what not.
I want a ROM that doesn't require a lot of maintenance.

I would definitely recommend Roman's AOKP. There's nothing unstable about it and it offers more customization than anything else released currently.

i downloaded the gummi one but heard of people having gapps issues so hesitated. currently using ZYGOT3 1.3 as it specified "final" and was posted by Droid Th3ory who made tons of roms for the Thunderbolt & a few Bionic ones. seems stable so far & better then stock.

Anyone feel that 4.0.3 is a bit more laggy in certain areas than 4.0.1 (or 4.0.2)?
I notice right away that the task switcher is a lot quicker (no lag on pushing the button) with 4.0.3 but I noticed everything else a bit more sluggish. Watching the apps flow in when pushing the app drawer button is chunky with 4.0.3 and pulling down the notification bar stutters as well.
This is my experience with AOKP and Bigxie's AOSP which are both 4.0.3 ROMs compared with the stock 4.0.1 ROM that came with the phone.

Are there any stable stock ICS or Jelly Bean Roms?

I bought a SGH-T989-D (telus version) and it came rooted with cyanogenmod installed. It was so fast and beautiful but it had many major bugs that made it unusable (call echo, battery life, caller id broken, random restarts). It's been about 4 months so I wanted to see what the most stable roms are.
I'm looking for a rom that is fast and close to stock ICS or maybe jellybean if that's out yet. I'm currently on touchwiz ics but it's not as smooth or snappy as the buggy rom the phone came with was.

this question gets asked quite a bit and my opinion on the matter(since you asked) is bugs don't seem to pop up for everyone. If the phone you had had issues maybe it was just that version of CM. If you like CM then I would suggest trying a nightly, RC2 or AOKP.
There are different developers that have kanged CM as well so try that. Since what is a bug for one person is not necessarily a bug for others its a trial and error. Anyone can post a link and say this or that is the best but only your real world experience can determine if its your dd= daily driver or not....
I have been running CM9 or AOKP since I got my phone and no issues at all...No radio issues No GPS issue No hot reboot issues... so far nada... Give them all a try thats my opinion

As said earlier, CM9 and AOKP are both great. My only issue with them is that they don't have wifi calling so be wary of that if you need that feature.

Just update to the latest cm9 nightly at get.cm for the Hercules. If you are already on cm9 then make a back up and then wipe system, cache, and dalvik. Then flash cm9 and gapps.

CM9 has come a LONG way these past months and virtually every bug you posted has been fixed. CM9 RC2 has been running beautifully for me for nearly a week and a half now. I recently took the plunge with TDJ's latest Venom kernel and it's been running even smoother. AOSP ROMs may have been buggy in the past but now there really isn't any reason to go back to TW. Unless of course you need wifi calling... but our devs are currently working on that and there are alternatives that allow you to call from wifi (Talkatone, Vonage, GrooveIP). So really, in my opinion, there really is no reason to go back to carrier bloat.

You could always use odin to flash a stock ICS, then root and remove bloat. You'd have a completely stock ICS running stable. As long as you're rooted, you can always flash modifications down the road. If you want a little extra performance but want to still maintain stock as much as possible, you can just flash a modified kernel on top.

CyanogenMod vs AOKP - Thoughts?

Looking for everyone's thoughts regarding CM vs AOKP for our device.
I was on AOKP for a while and liked it. I'm currently on Blazer ICS and also tried Calkulin's ROM... am I correct in that both of those are stock based with stuff removed, as opposed to CM and AOKP both being AOSP based with things added. And the stock ones have TouchWiz...
I did like AOKP's customization options. I'm wondering how they compare in terms of battery life and performance.
Thoughts?

I love CM9. It's VERY smooth and I have no complaints about battery life.

I've always been an AOKP fan, but lately I've been on CM9. I love AOKP's extra customization options, but CM9 for me has less bugs and gets better battery life. The only thing I really miss is the brightness slider in the notification tray. AOKP doesn't have a 4G Toggle either which bugs me. Both of them seem equally smooth to me and usually get nearly the same Quadrant. And yeah, you're correct that CM9 and AOKP and other ROMs too like MIUI are AOSP... based off of stock Android and not TouchWiz.

I'm interested in this too.
Is CM10 close for our phone (I know it's close for the Galaxy Nexus - probably the easiest phone to get CM10, I would imagine).
I'm having an absolutely miserable time on the stock TouchWiz ICS update.
I wouldn't mind going back to GB for the CM9, my concern is losing the stock Exchange sync schedule features (as I lost going to AOKP, briefly, before going back. I receive such a high volume that I have peak and off-peak schedules configured (apparently not available in custom ROMs) so that sync is manual between 8-6, M-F and then syncs 15 minutes during off-peak hours. I don't want to lose this functionality. It was not there on AOKP, it may be a TouchWiz feature.
