I checked both internal and external and found nothing

I believe miui currently only mounts one or the other. There's a flashable zip if you would like to use your sd card instead of the internal one, but no worry your data is still there, if you flash back to a different rom.

Nothing is needed on external sd or internal sd when you root. You can format both internal and external sd cards after rooting with no issues after. Any files that are needed will be replaced after format.

[Q] SD Card on AOKP ROMS

Hey guys, so for the life of me, I can never get my SD card to be mounted properly on any AOKP ROM I put on this phone.
I had this issue back when I was using AOKP ICS build 37 as a daily, and now while I am playing with slick ricks JB AOKP ROM.
The SD card does not show up on my phone even when using a file explorer nor is it mounted on my computer when I connect the phone via USB.
I've done quite a bit of researching with no luck on my end. Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or willing to help me solve it?
Download es file explorer. Go into its settins. Click up to root. Then close and open it again. Push the back button. Does it say either emmc or sdcard and then have a folder labeled external_sdcard? Do not go into emmc or sdcard. Just wanted to know which it had. External should be at the top.

So does it work fine on CM10?

@patrao
The main folder is /sdcard
Going up to / I see a folder labeled external_sd
@ slick rick
yes the SD card works fine on cm10 ROMs.

You're looking in the wrong place, its in /external_SD now not /sdcard/external_SD like it used to be

/external_sd/ is empty
I have no idea then. My external sdcard works perfectly fine on my AOKP rom
So figured I'd try another SD card.
I put an old 2GB sandisk and it work.
Seems like buying a cheap PNY SD card was a mistake. But why doesn't it work with AOKP roms???? XD

Bricked or Bracked?

I recently did an SD swap on my AT&T S3 [internal storage switched to external SD]. It worked, however, I want to return to the normal configuration. There's one problem: my internal SD has only 400MB of storage left. I can't use Odin to return to stock or download any new apps because of no space. Any suggestions?
I don't want to recycle this phone because it's in excellent condition and would love to get it back to normal again.
Thanks.
Um what? Flashing with Odin has nothing to do with your internal SD card...

Go into cwm and format the internal sd card

Copy everything off of internal, format, swap, copy back onto external
You mean copy back onto internal, no?

You can't copy to internal because it is full. So copy the stuff off of it onto something else, then wipe and you can put it back however you like.

Vold.fstab mod to swap sdcards not working

I rather have my 32gb as main sd just like my previous device and the one before that. I did the edit but when I reboot no sdcard is found.
There are two of these files but they seem to be the same because when I edit one the other is already edited. Folders are etc/ and system/etc.
I followed the guide like in rezound, amaze and many others. It may need manual remount command but I don't know which one is.
This is how it is originally
dev_mount sdcard /mnt/sdcard emmc /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.1/mmc_host
dev_mount sdcard2 /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd auto /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host
The mod is just renaming sdcard to sdcard2 and vice versa.
I'm not responsible if others try this and damage or brick anything on their own, I took the chance to see if it works. I'm looking for at least a suggestion.

I am very interested in getting this to work because the internal sd is only 4gb, I can't partition my external 32 sd card to transfer apps to ext sd. I can only get app data like gameloft games to external sd using gl to sd on playstore. Thanks for posting this.

I'm glad more users are interested.
Btw I'm currently using jmztotemc2 plus the linaro kernel. I have not tested this in full stock rom.

I've tested this and it didn't work, and had to reboot into recovery and restore and accidentally lost internal sd data.

Turning on apps stored on external storage

Hi there,
Two days ago I was using a rom with the external storage script, and everything was working pretty good - just a few problems, such as SwiftKey language packs not recognized after boot and stuff.
Now I flashed a new base rom and decided not to install the script.
All my application backups stored on the external sd card.
Now, when I am trying to start a game, it says to me that I need to download the data files even that it is stored on my external sd card.
Is there any possible way to make that the system would recognize that the data file is stored already on the external storage?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Boris

you can use folder mount or directory bind to make it appear like the data is in your internal storage.
Thanks!
Where can I find an apk for directory bind?
