Hey guys, so for the life of me, I can never get my SD card to be mounted properly on any AOKP ROM I put on this phone.
I had this issue back when I was using AOKP ICS build 37 as a daily, and now while I am playing with slick ricks JB AOKP ROM.
The SD card does not show up on my phone even when using a file explorer nor is it mounted on my computer when I connect the phone via USB.
I've done quite a bit of researching with no luck on my end. Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or willing to help me solve it?
Download es file explorer. Go into its settins. Click up to root. Then close and open it again. Push the back button. Does it say either emmc or sdcard and then have a folder labeled external_sdcard? Do not go into emmc or sdcard. Just wanted to know which it had. External should be at the top.

So does it work fine on CM10?

@patrao
The main folder is /sdcard
Going up to / I see a folder labeled external_sd
@ slick rick
yes the SD card works fine on cm10 ROMs.

You're looking in the wrong place, its in /external_SD now not /sdcard/external_SD like it used to be

/external_sd/ is empty
I have no idea then. My external sdcard works perfectly fine on my AOKP rom
So figured I'd try another SD card.
I put an old 2GB sandisk and it work.
Seems like buying a cheap PNY SD card was a mistake. But why doesn't it work with AOKP roms???? XD

Just got a new class 10, 32gb sd card. What I would like to know is if there is a recommended 'process' to swap out my existing sd card?
When I copied the contents of my old sd card to my pc (win7x64) using standard copy/paste, I got an error on a few folders that the path was too long to paste. I know windows has limitations, so I'm going to mount both sd cards and just copy from the old to the new directly using robocopy.
Will there be any other issues due to media serial number or anything like that for apps that were installed to the sd, or am I over analyizing this?

The paths should not have changed from one card to the other. Since your source did not gawk at the long path the destination should not also...unless u grabbed the parent or pasted into a child or something. That said I know you nand and use tb. I would grab the current backups, images, whatever else u want and eikther nand or tb what daata was sd stored that you want back. Just my opinion.
The other thing is I would format the card in the phone first.

Yea, there were quite a few 'res' folders deep inside a google.books subdirectory that exceeded windows ability of copying. Don't use so I'm just going to clear data on the books app. Will hang on to old sd card before formatting and reusing somewhere else.
I will document anything else I find...

As long as the card is formatted, can't you just copy the contents of the sd card from your PC back to the card (assuming you copied your SD card to the PC)?
The issue is that windows has a limitation of 256 characters to use when copying files, which includes the full path from the root of the drive. Certain things work while others will not. Full copy in explorer is one of those things that does not.
So, copying my sd TO MY PC fails at a certain point. What did get copied will copy fine going TO THE SD CARD as there will not be a path/filename length issue at this point.
I tried the below (e is old sd, f is new) but still did not pick up the deep files. Didn't try robocopy.
xcopy e:\*.* f:\ /e /c /h /r
In my case, I did not care about anything in this directory, but others may. Just a heads up...

Try Long Path Tool it is the easiest way that can solve your problem.
I have a rooted LG Nitro HD. I downloaded the Domination HD Rom. However, when in clockworkmod recovery, no .zip files found. Anyone else have this happen? I rooted using superoneclick.

Yeah, I had this happen with the CWM flashed from Rom Manager. I ended up going back to bytecode64's.

Copy your SD card to your computer (all the files), reformat the SD card in Windows, and then copy your files back on it. Then CWM Touch will see the files.
Thank you, kernelpan1c. Worked perfectly. My next step is to check out your rom. Looks pretty sweet.

I haven't done it with card in the phone. Go get a microSD adapter and format with Windows (considering you have a card reader).

Enable usb mass storage on your phone and windows should let you format it or boot in cwm, go to mount and storage, select mount sd card and then format sd card.

Hey guys, I did a quick search and couldn't find an answer. Basically, I'm having trouble with TWRP -- it won't mount/recognize my SD card at all. All the advice I've seen so far is to format the microSD card as fat32. Unfortunately, this fix doesn't work for me, as my SD is already formatted to fat32.
Are there any other alternate options?
Thanks!
EDIT: this is on TWRP 2.3.2.3
you probably need to update TWRP. If you rooted using the Galaxy Note 2 tool kit, it's a slightly older version. Here's the thread on TWRP, which you can find the latest version.
I think i'm on the newest version. I updated it a couple days ago using goo manager to 2.3.2.3, which seems to be the newest one
that would be the newest. I had that problem till I updated. My SDXC card is formatted in NTSF. Maybe, you need to reformat it in your phone.
yea, I'll try that. wish me luck

That's about right for available space you'll get. But can you mount or browse the card in twrp?

It seems that I can't format my SD card through TWRP. The phone itself sees the SD card just fine except when inside TWRP

I'll check in a little bit phone is dead and cycling battery. But my 32gb showed up. Are you sure you're not changing it to show external storage
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
you need to go into advance menu, file manager. Then you need to look externalSDCard directory or similar name. That's your SDXC card. Don't use that external/internal option in one of the other menus.
This tends to be case in some of the file manager apps as well such as ES File Explorer.
ok, so, it seems it's not under external_sdcard, but under sdcard. So I guess to access the sdcard i have to go through that. Thanks for the help
Is there any way I can change the default backup location for TWRP to use the SD card? I can't backup to internal storage since I don't have enough space
I had a similar issue with this 2 days ago. ..Could not mount the 64gig sd card in trwp but works fine on the phone. ..I updated to the newest twrp yesterday and that resolve the issue. ..

I don't understand your problem when you go to twrp click install, you have the option to check to either internal or external right at the top.

This internal/external partition card storage is kinda hidden in plain sight...presuming the OP's SD card isn't toast.

Hidden in plain sight, really not that hard to see lol. If you can't take the 3 seconds to look where it says internal or external you shouldn't even bother trying to worry about it simple as that.

Tapping on "use external SD" just has it snap back to "use internal storage" and the error message "unable to mount '/external_sdcard'" comes up. So no, it's not that I'm blind.
Ok when I got my note 2 I formatted my sd card through the phone. I was using it with my Droid Charge. No problems. Now that its in my note2 every CWM backup I do doesnt go to sd it goes to phone.(or titanium) I went to filemanager and I cant move the back ups to sd card. So my question is.. did I format sd incorrectly? Meaning I shouldve used PC or am I just missing something? I dont have a card reader and its a 32 gb sandisk.(rooted and stock) any help is appreciated. Thanks

You can try formatting the memory card by connecting your phone in 'USB storage' to PC and format by PC and then repeat the process.

I installed Tiny's CM10.1 on my DI but when I go to download files I'm told that the browser can't download anything without an SD Card. I can't find an option to make it work with internal storage. The same thing happens with the Camera. Am I doomed to use an SD Card with this phone?
I believe android requires an ad card perhaps you can fake an external sd card by symlinking it from internal storage.I'm not really an expert or anything but I think this is how phones like the droid DNA work.
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
A set of symlinks should technically work but you have to do it every boot and you need 3 symlinks for compatibility.
