CM9 - Gen9, Gen10 General

Well, seeing as we now have ClockworkMod for the zip, ICS as the base and Archos' sources (If I remember we have those), could development start on CM9?
Why CM9?
More features
Probably faster
Noticeable problems:
I don't think we can have one build for both devices (10.1/8.0), as they have different resolutions, I don't know what ARCHOS do in terms of that
We could also do AOKP maybe if we wanted more...
My tablet is out for a couple of weeks I expect whilst Archos "repair" it (hopefully I get an upgrade)

If AOKP came out for our tablets I would have no problems getting CWM on it, well once its safe and out of beta

16 GB SD Card not mounted?

I wanted to replace my current 8GB SD Card with a 16 GB SD Card for my Xperia Play.
I have a SanDisk Class 4 SD Card, but whenever I try and access it in the Recovery, or ROM, it does not think it is mounted. I also own a 2 GB and 8 GB SD Cards, and those work perfectly, but just not the 16 GB one. I already tried formatting it, but still no dice.
Why is this, and how would I fix it? Thanks in advance
Try reformatting the card as FAT32. I had to do that to my 32 gb when I first used it with my play (it had been in my cm7.1 nook color before that)...make sure you copy anything that is on it off beforeul you format, unless you don't mind losing amything on it.
Edit: sorry just noticed you said formatting didn't work...what are you using to format the card? Try using partition wizard/(manager, not sure which) I've. Used that before for when I need to do formatting and it works well.

The SD Card works perfectly on my Nook Color, running stock and CM9. It just doesn't work for my Xperia Play.
I have formatted it to FAT32, and I used the WIndows Formatter. I'll try to use Partition Wizard/Manager to format it. I'll come back with the results.

I'm gonna answer this.
This is a system issue with 2.3.4 for example when I flash the .42 baseband or earlier my Micro SD (That came stock with my phone) fails to mount but on any version older than that it worked.
Try flashing a custom ROM or a newer version of Android.
Try 2.3.7 (Cyanogenmod 7.2) or 4.0.4 (Cyanogenmod 9) tell if it works then on either of the versions, they should work on ICS Cyanogenmod 9, a custom 2.3.4 ROM might do but I'm unsure.

[Q] CM10 Based ROMs

I would really love to move over to a CM10 based roms, but I love having a functioning SD card for my pictures and stuff to go on. I tried liquid smooth before the release of JB and loved it, just hated the lack of an sd card since all of my stuff is on it.
Are there any roms/kernels that support sd cards since the 'Official Release' of JB??

What do you mean by "sdcards" all cm10 based roms read both internal/external sdcards just fine....you need to clarify or be more specific.

Yeah when I used LiquidSmooth with ktoonz kernel it wasn't working. It needed to be reformatted or something so I just gave up trying to figure it out. None of my pictures would show up in my gallery, I couldn't access ringtones...nothing. It would show up in Root Explorer, but not anywhere else.
I figured out why it wasn't showing. I had to be formatted to Fat32, which at the moment it is not.
I'll have to give CM10 a go later when I have more time.
lol, I thought all sdcards needed to be fat32 for phones... but ya that'll do the trick for you.

Show me a ROM which does not need partitioned SDcard

hey guys I want to sell my Desire and buy a Galaxy Nexus, and I don't want to give my 8GB SDcard on phone, is there any good and stable ROM which doesn't require a partitioned SDcard (ext partitions) or should I partition some 2GB SDcard and give it on phone?!
Thanks in Advance!
Put it to stock. Or give the SD away, you won't need it for the Nexus.
Gesendet von meinem LG-P880 mit Tapatalk 2
dGB is a good choice that doesnt need ext partition, but you need custom hboot to make the most of it (requires s-off)
or you could buy a small cheap micro sd card, and use other roms which require ext partition. make sure you use only gparted or 4ext recovery to make the partition (not minitool, rom manager or clockworkmod recovery)
CM doesn't need a partioned SD-card as far as I remember. The internal ROM is just very small.
Put it on stock if you intend to sell.

[Q] USB not working. How to restore stock w/o odin?

Hi,
The USB port seems to be broken on my Roger's Glide and from what I can tell it seems to be a hardware problem. I get the "USB not recognized" message when I plug it in to a PC and it seems to be only charging intermittently. I have tried everything including different cables, USB ports, PCs and reinstalling drivers. I even tried mounting the USB in CWM but it still doesn't connect.
I had updated to the latest (stock) ICS rom from AT&T but I need to revert back for warranty reasons. Since the USB is not working I can't flash using ODIN and mobile ODIN does not support our device. I have CWM 5 recovery installed but there doesn't seem to be any CWM flashable stock Rogers ROMs available anywhere. I don't have a nandroid of my stock ROM, is there anything I can do?
Can anyone point me to a guide on how to convert a stock tar.md5 into a flashable zip? I found this after searching a while:
http://www.igottadroid.com/ModMarket/Listings/dman32851484578.html
but it's not specific to the Glide and I don't know if I need to do anything else.
I had used dsixda's Android Kitchen in the past to build a flashable zip for my desire Z but It looks like the Glide is not supported. Does anyone have any pointer to getting it working for the Glide?
I'm not certain Odin TARs can be converted to CWM ZIPs... for one thing, CWM for sure doesn't have access to BCT or EBT right now. If the ICS leak replaced the Rogers bootloader splash with the generic "SAMSUNG" one as is on AT&T devices, you have no way of changing that back.
The biggest problem is we don't know what all the OneClicks do. They might change the PT, they might not, they might change the BCT, they might not, they might have a bootloader, they might not.
You could try just sending it to them as-is. Then it becomes a question of "not covered" vs. "voiding" -- you have a leg to stand on here, because 1) the firmware presently on the device IS Samsung official 2) the flashing could not have damaged the USB port. Tell them you have your data backed up (and be telling the truth here damnit) and just want a phone that charges correctly again.
Thanks for the info. The splash screen is still the Rogers one so I am ok there. The stock ICS ROM (I927UCLH2) I have on there was the flashed with ODIN. From there I rooted it and fixed the keyboard light issue through a couple CWM flashes.
As for converting the stock TAR.md5 it looks like it is possible using dsixda's Android Kitchen: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 and loosely following: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390903
Since the Glide is not officially supported I am just in the process of creating an edify_def file.
Does anyone have a edify_def file for the I927 they could send me?
Thanks!

After hours of fiddling with it I managed to get the usb port working long enough to transfer a rom to the internal sd. It's so stupid that cwm doesn't support external sd cards for the glide.
Anyways thanks for help. The phone has been sent off for warranty repair now
If anyone is curious I cleaned the port with compressed air and rubbing alcohol then I pushed the usb contacts upward with a exacto knife. I had to also insert the usb cable multiple times and wiggle it around until it finally connected to my pc.

Which ROM did you flash to get back to stock ? URL to it ?
CWMR 6012 has external sd support. But upgrading your CWMR v5 may be tricky without the USB working.

I used the inception rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612251
But I have to stress, the only way I was able to fix my issue was to get the usb working again (briefly). Without access to the external sd, working usb or an phone that will boot it is impossible to fix this phone. Coming from the desire z which doesn't treat internal storage as an sd card, I learned a valuable lesson about cwm and Samsung phones

Which format do you use for 64 gb SD

Hi.! Just wanted to know I bought sandisk 64gb ultra class 10 . Exfat seem slow n take more boot time n low speed too ..then I formatted it using Ubuntu last night n restored my data kaboom ...its snappy like my other Sandisk 32gb ultra class 10 ...and 2nd it works with any custom recovery like Philz or TWRP without a glitch....though TWRP claims it support exfat SD but ...some how It seem not sure.
2nd currect me if im wrong about ...does philz recovery support exfat .?..for NOTE 2 ? And philz does not though if currect...it do for other phones ..though
Tip
Always use fat32 with 64 gb class 10 and use anything else windows tools to format sd (seems windows got some flaws with mico sd) eg use only mac or lunix (Ubuntu) you never bump in any problems ...like others on blog .

You cannot copy file larger then 4 GB to Fat32 file system. Doesn't matter what tool you are using. This is Fat32 limitation.

I wish...ntfs support was there but on mac users its problem they can read only not write ...and windows ignore any fat 32 partion which is greater then limit ...so sandisk choosen exfat for flash media storage.
And on Android its sucks with exfat with low speed +boot time mount with 64gb class 10...not good enough....nor Ntfs support. ..only on custom kernels n recoverys ...
So best option is to format it with fat32 with non windows os...... for better mount time n speeds ..

For me Fat32 is unusable because of its limitations.
I don't have any issues with exfat. Boot time is the same for card formatted with exfat (64gb SanDisk) and for fat32 (32gb adata), just tried it. For every day use like watching and recording movies, installing roms, copying files it's speed is just fine but I admit that I have never compared speeds between different file systems.
If you have root you can try paragon ntfs mounter. It can mount ntfs in rw but it won't be supported by recovery.
