Thanks man! Now I can flash all the ROMS I want!!
BTW, what's the difference with the LTE and GSM and others? I don't really know what version is my phone.
unlock your bootloader first, now that you don't have much installed on it, it will wipe your data when you unlock it (you need it to flash roms).
read OPs of each rom you're going to try, TWICE. try to learn how to get yourself out of trouble before you run into it.
even if you're an experienced flasher, i had some strange urge to write this.
welcome

One is CDMA/LTE. One is GSM. That's the difference.
You have GSM unless your phone says "Verizon" or "Sprint" on the back... And considering you're in Canada, you don't have either one of those.

Here are the system and boot images from my LTE galaxy nexus. Hoping some GSM roms will be ported to LTE for us LTE guys. If more files are needed let me know.

Aside from the two "bloat" apps I am pretty sure the root and unlock process are similar .. p3droid didn't have any complaints about his Verizon gnex

I have zero bloat on my phone. I got mine about 2 weeks ago it is a development version and has the development menu in settings. I unlocked my botloader and rooted using super boot v2 and installed the GSM clockwork, yes GSM clockwork works fully you just need to delete the recovery from boot.p file from system. If you dont every time you want to enter cwm you have to re install it with rom manager. I moved it to the cwm folder in SD card. Now cwm works flawlessly and I was able to make a full nandroid. I gave mike my boot image and system image he is working on building a rom now for LTE models since that's what I have. I will be testing the LTE version for him when he pms it to me.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask I don't mind.

Thanks so much for the info, I was a little worried about VZW being the carrier and controlling updates but looks like it still is a pure google experience, Glad you were able to provide the dump so devs can go to work early! that way when i finally get my device on verizon ill have something to flash.
Yesss. A pure Google phone on the Big Red. Finally! Thanks for this little dump.

Which build is this one? I'm stuck on IFL10B and have noticed a few bugs. Was wondering if your build version might fix them.
4.0 I don't have the build as I am no longer on it. Try flashing adroid revolution hd lte version if you have lte devoce. it is built off my system and boot image

I read all I could find, no mention if out had been done successfully, no real post on it. Thanks for the snippy remark. If anyone here has done this and can comment on flashing the aosp ROM and relocking the bootloader.

I've just completed this. I too had that piece of garbage from Samsung. I've downloaded google official ITL41F files and flashed them through fastboot, manually by using these commands:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekj10.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-yakju-itl41f.zip
The result ? The ROM is just about the same as before, nothing really changed. Anyway, I hope this helps.
LE: Oh, I forgot. The recovery is back to stock after this. Good to know.
I did the same thing as lambda30, worked fine.
Thank you so much. That was exactly what I was looking for. Flashed as yakju firmware after unlocking...then relocked all good. Now I'm on the Google wagon. Muuuch better.

It does make a difference as long as permissions were f**ked up and couldn't install Wallet. Other than that and the fact that there are a couple of dozen ring tones missing, probably no difference at all.

Sorry if I offended you in any way, I didn't meant for that. yakju and still no Wallet love ? Hmm. Did you get it like this, or installed from Google ICS official images ?
Oh you're fine we're on the same page now at least! I bought it from an importer in Chicago (where I live), and that's just how it was. No wallet stock, no wallet in the market. I was able to flash the wallet from the Themes and Apps forum, however.
The one thing I can say now that it totally different, is when the phone powers up it actually looks for an update, where before on the samsung variant it never did that in the beginning after it boots up. So that is prolly why the other build model hasn't gotten an update.
This thread will do it for you, quick and painless.

Aha. Dunno what's the problem (probably other build no. or such), but you could try the official Google ICS images if you want. It should work with those. Just do backup of current installation... I've found it the hard way on my Nexus S.

Same with me.
i'm on the "mysid" version(the one that is on the Verizon model) and i get the update message when i turn the phone on and i got the welcome to your galaxy nexus email from the android team a couple hours after i activated.
so i don't think that has anything to do with who updates the phone.
My Galaxy Nexus has very weak wifi signals even though I'm about 20ft away from my router. This has happened since i got the phone and flashed a rom. People say that flashing a new radio helps? Anyone? Thank you in advance.

I think I'm correct in saying you need to download and flash the XXLF1 radio if you don't have it as thats the latest, I'm presuming you're using a GSM Nexus?
What is your current baseband/radio?

I've heard though that wi-fi is not on the baseband but on the kernel instead, so that won't help.
I tried a couple of different basebands (UGLC1, UGLA4, XXLF1) and none of them helped the wifi reception. Going back to ICS 4.0.4 did.
The thing is that I'm already on ics with akosp and my wifi reception is pretty terrible. I also am using Franco nightlies #196 with 384 gpu

Only flash ROMs made for the specific carrier. If you flash an international ROM onto a T-Mobile galaxy s3, your phone will be hard bricked and the only way to unbrick it is to get it JTAG'd, which can cost around 60$.

U can't flash any of the international version roms, but the stateside variants are flashable..
sent from GS3 disguised as a GNote2
most ATT roms should be directly compatible with little effort for our tmo GS3. However, do not flash an ATT modems, that will brick your phone for sure.
I also recommend you use TWRP, seems to be less issues with it. good luck and welcome
I suggest you stick to flashing only what you find in this forum. At least until you have had time to get used to your new device. You will run into quite a few conflicting reports on what does or doesn't work well with this phone. Give it time and you will figure out for yourself which are right and which are wrong.
We have plenty of roms and a number of ports from the other carriers so it really shouldn't be necessary to go flashing anything from somewhere else.
Use the other forums for reference, ideas, and learning more about your phone. If you find a mod or app you want to try, just ask if your not confident about it.
Good luck and welcome!
Oh, just fyi, the reports about the i9300 and i9305, are correct! Do NOT flash any roms or mods built for those! Guaranteed Brick!!

That is correct, but to use the vzw gnex with page plus you need to flash a patch to use toro ROMs. Otherwise you get no data..
So to answer the OP question, no you can not use a toro ROM, you have to use a toroplus.
You can however use a toro ROM with the patch. Look for the thread about flashing help in q&a forum. I don't have the link handy..
