anybody here ever heard of 10live.com? it's a chinese website that allows you to view movies and tv shows in crystal clear definition....even on EDGE...only problem is it's in chinese....there's an app that you can download over at that you can put install on your phone but again, the controls are in chinese...using it involves a lot of trial and error but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy....would love to hear anybody's opinion of this thing...
There is no "crystal clear" definition for our tiny 320 x 240 pixel screen and definitely not on EDGE!!! There's only so much you can do with the small bandwidth EDGE offers and the relatively small resolution the screen will display.
not misleading anybody...
I can tell you this much...it's a whole lot clearer than Technology's BLU-RAY player( not knockin' ya Tech...I still love the player and use it everyday) or the TCPMP flash video bundle player(which I also love and use all the time)...and besides , I wasn't trying to sell anybody on this thing...I just wanted to know if anybody's heard of it and/or using it and what they thought of it...it has it's limitations...for one thing there's a lot of movies but you don't actually get a chance to choose just any movie or show...you're limited to what they have on site...but it's a lot and it's updated almost all the time...and again...you gotta look through every link to find a movie you want to watch since the titles are in Chinese...
actually....
actually....what I really wanted to know if there's a website like that in English...and how come we don't have anything like that here in the States...
thats why
Because we have legislation that strangles the American people from enjoying anything.
so....
you tried it?? what do you think of it?

10 Live
It's a great software. I have in both of my Tilt, Blackjack and N95. Great viewing quality and ability to fastward and resume at any point. It's only avaliable in chinese, however it is not that difficult to master it.
Hey,
I tried using Google to translate the page and this is what I came up with as the description:
10LIVE billion from the Shanghai Science and Technology Co., Ltd network of independent development, a cell phone client software for playing audio and video, support online live television, online support feature film programming; have the latest streaming media technology, no waiting, no need to download. More Multi-version landing http://www.10look.com/down.do
10LIVE support cmwap, cmnet wireless streaming media player software! 10 LIVE can be realized in low-speed networks under the condition of smooth wireless streaming video viewing experience!
1. Brand new interface, more rich content collection
2. Built-in programs here, here to watch a one-stop service
3. Automated software upgrades
4. Infinite Playlist
5. For the adjustment and optimization of China's mobile network transmission network
6. To support a variety of networks (including wifi, gprs, edge, Bluetooth)
7. Fluency high
8. High-definition
let me try and get the software
can someone post the link to the software and is it workable at all or it's of no use to us English -speaking peeps?
Here's the .cab. latest version 1.6.1538
it's kinda hard to use at first. with all of the chinese writing and all, but the movies that are english speaking moves. the audio is in english.... but there are chiniese subtitles for them. It runs at abour 15 to 18 fps and rarely buffers, even on edge.
Shouldn't the thread be locked already since the OP leads to a warez site..?

Guy I know where you are coming from, first of all, you are talking about DEFINITION Mobile Video, a ultra clear stream, because of what they have in their stream signal. That why I dont argue with the mind that say, Oh this phone is a 320x240 resolution, like setting a LIMITATION on a LCD screen.(LOL) That because they don't know, if you know something that that they don't, then it cannot be true.(LOL) Here is my favorite DEFINITION mobile entertainment website {IN ENGLISH} with super ultra clear video resolution, http://mobile.ardcorp.tv. The video is ultra super clear because of what's in the video stream signal,{Ultimate Codecs} now see will it set ANY limitation on your 320x240 screen LCD, but you already know that it will not, because you said that it better than my Blue-ray Screen Video Player and you are correct(LOL), because it's a DEFINITION video stream. Their will be more DEFINITION website in the future, take care enjoy Saturn Liberty...............!

As the title says, I am looking for a decent video player, I have tried most, if not all in the "Market", but none I have found, seem to offer what I had as standard on the iphone!
What I would like, is the following:
1. Thumbnail of each video, with it's title.
2. The ability to zoom correctly, with proper aspect ratio support.
3. Remember the exit point of each video.
Zimly, has the best interface, of the ones I have found, but it does not support aspect ratio zoom, neither does it remember the exit point! Otherwise, I think this app is definitely on the right track!
The standard app, is good, but it does not display the title, nor does it remember the exit point, and you have to go into "Photos" to get to it!
If anyone knows of such an app, I would be most greatful.
P.S. Would just like to add, that the screen on this is superb for watching videos, whites are properly white, and blacks are really black! Unlike the iphone, which is a washed out mess with absolutely no contrast! Woe betied anyone who complains to Apple about this, I was actually told by their customer services, that no one else has complained, and that "They are happy with it"!!!! Thanks a lot Mr Jobs!
Another problem with video playback is that you cant jump to middle of movie. You can only jump cca 7min into movie, it you try to jump more it resets movie, starts playback from begining.
Tryed default player and one free with full lenght movie.
Mp4 format, h264

Meridian is the best I've used. Whilst it doesn't tick all your boxes (eg no preview), it does remember where you left off on each individual video. It also allows you to seek to particular point in the video far more effectively than the stock app.

Dave
This is the best Video player you can possible have on a android phone. It has all what you seek plus more. http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.hyperaware.videoplayerfull
On the fly bringnes settings, aspect ratios and it does remember the exit point also. It tells you if a file is playable. Only thumbnails are missing.
The only bad thing is no divx support on this phones. So You have to convert every ****.

You can play XviD/DviX movies with yxFlash player. Although it is be no means a perfect player, it is the only one(or at least was for a while) that can play these formats.
YxFlash is buggy as hell though... it doesn't even let me navigate to find files to play.

Still no decent video players?
They seem to lack codecs or just be horribly made. I tried XYplayer but it's out of sync.
I've been playing with the Evo 4G that Google handed out today at I/O, but I just can't seem to figure this out. In the Apps drawer, I see a Gallery app, but it is not the 3D Gallery in stock 2.1, nor does it have any of my Picasaweb albums.
Is it just me or did they just forget to put that in when customizing Sense UI?
So if no 3D gallery, is it back to the old none 3D gallery?

It is 2D, and integrates into Flickr and Facebook. Surprisingly, not Picasaweb. I much prefer the 3D Gallery on the Droid. Tried to copy over the Gallery3D.apk from the Droid's /system/app, but it would not install on the Evo 4G.
that's really weird i would expect it to be ready now, since it has been avilable on every other 2.1 phone. Maybe it was too buggy by the time they needed it for the conference. How is it so far any other complaints?

Complaints..
The volume rocker on the side is too stiff and hard to press. The Home and Back "buttons" are switched from the Droid. Makes less sense how they're located on the Evo. I'm still frustrated sometimes after playing with it nonstop for the whole day.
Can't change the number of home screens from 7.
Comes with ALOT of Sprint crApps.
The homescreen of my Droid with LauncherPro is much smoother than the Evo with or without LauncherPro instead of HTC Sense.
The vibrator is much weaker than the Droid's.
The large screen size makes holding the Evo for an extended period of time hurt. Right handed thumbs don't quite reach the left side of the screen comfortably. If you lie down and hold the Evo over your face, you have to grip it more tightly and uncomfortable than the narrower Droid.
Droid looks more "hi-def" because it has higher pixel density.
Good things...
Camera takes pictures so much faster.
Evo's Sprint 3G tests faster than Droid's Verizon 3G. Though it seems to have higher latency.
SO MUCH MORE MEMORY (ram?) than the Droid. The Droid sometimes struggles to keep more than 50mb available at any time, while the Evo sometimes has over 200mb free.
The large screen size is just beautiful. Much brighter than Droid at max brightness. Much much darker than Droid at min brightness.
Love the HTC keyboard. I've been using and loving Swype on the Droid for almost a month, but now I may have to switch to the HTC keyboard for it's accuracy, prediction, and ease of use.
I have big hands so i think my thumbs will be able to handle the screen size. how usefull is the front facing camera, as i plan on using that video chat feature the most.

Edit: The forum won't let me post outside links... oh well

Alright so one mp4 file from my Pentax k-x (720p) played with audio but no video. I suspect that's just because Pentax formats their files weird..
Ok maybe I'm doing something wrong on the Droid. Another mp4 anime file also played audio but no video.
Hmmmm.. no AVI, no MKV, MP4 half works. I must be doing something wrong

wasn't poking fun at him, more the droid(not a fan of motorola), and was simply agreeing with his comment in the youtube desc.
I used Handbrake to convert one of the MP4s that didn't show video earlier. I used the Apple->iPhone&iPod Touch preset, and it generated a file that had extension m4v, and reduced the 720p source to 480p.
I tried unsuccessfully to play the m4v file, but when I renamed it to mp4, it played perfectly. Then I tried to encode the original again, but this time keeping it as 720p. But my Handbrake must have some kind of memory leak, cause it keeps on blowing up as the RAM usage creeps higher and higher. So I couldn't test it with HD 720p video.
But at least we know how to get your movies encoded to play on the Evo.
Found this on another thread. installed it and it works perfect.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653503
What do you think?
/\
So in summary:
1080p MKV:
laggy with no sound in stock player
laggy with synced sound in QQ player
MKV Scene released (torrents)
Has issues preventing playback
720p MKV:
Runs fine (stock player et al)
1080p MP4:
Runs fine (stock player et al)
I'd suggest trying MX Player instead. Probably no need for a video though.
ill just leave this here http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/media-formats.html
Still I'm disappointed with the performance, coming for a Galaxy S2 and all.
I had no problems at all playing a 400MB large 6 minutes long 1080p MP4 video. If there are problems with other formats, that has got to do with the application playing them or the codecs used. GN can play high definition video very well.

The problem is some people encode their stuff as mkv or download hd rips (cheeky) off the internet.
The Galaxy Nexus feels more like an iPhone now I suppose as you cannot chuck any file at it and expect it to play, perhaps I'm used to the ease of things with the GS2.

But of course. You cannot chuck ANY file at it. Nothing works like that. You cannot chuck ANY file at Windows either.
Just because it has problems with high definition mkv files doesn't mean it has problems with mkv files in general. Just play lower resolution files and if it doesn't play, try out a different player that might.
Let's remember that high definition video playing is still promoted as feature on high end tablets. Tablets are a bit more powerful to begin with, phones have not caught up with your high end TV or laptop yet.
I don't feel this is an issue with the phone its application thing..
Most mkv's have an h.264 video stream which the phone can hardware decode its just the software doesn't know the container so I presume its software decoding and in which case im impressed it does as well as it does..
Vplayer might be a good app to try..
True, but with another phone (which I will not name as I may be labelled a fanboi) I chuck numerous files... and they played.
Don't get me wrong, not everyone cares if this phone is 'pure google' or if somethings not 'optimised' for it, we just want it to work.
the video doesn't help at all really
no bitrates were mentioned on the "laggy" video
no video or audio codecs were mentioned anywhere in the video
MKV can contain any number of different video and audio codecs
MP4 can contain (for example) h.263 and h.264 codecs
This is really annoying coming from a GS2. GS2 played any video file I threw at it. On the Nexus I have to use an app from the market and even then its not as fluid. I guess this is due to the older GPU. In general I am dissapointed with this phone, the S2 is much snappier.

Sorry total rubbish, you are using a stock Android ICS phone, it does not come with touchwiz and other Samsung software, one of it being a video player. Please don't blame this on the phone hardware, it is nothing to do with it. If you expected everything to work out of the box I'm afraid maybe you should have got another phone! Stick on MX Player as an earlier poster suggested, also DICE player has now been updated, took all of 1 minute to get this information!

Google can only put on file formats and codecs that they have licenses for and native Android 4.0 comes with open source software and proprietary Google owned software.
Yes, it is a 'pure Google' issue even if you don't care about it. And more open than others on the market has its advantages and disadvantages. Sorry that you are disappointed, but reality is that Android Market has a number of media players that can play a lot of file formats and codecs that Android 4.0 does not natively support. No one forces you to use native players.
Using diceplayer the Galaxy Nexus can play any content I throw at it. It can play samples from Bluray rips at full bitrate so it's as good as you could possibly need it to be (unless you have higher than bluray quality material).

You're right, I completely forgot about touchwiz, my bad. Tried dice player and had issues with my avi rips lagging, this was couple of days ago. I'll try the new dice player today.
I have been experiencing lag in the browser (pinch to zoom on heavy sites) which I didnt have in the GS2 (loved the bounce and elastic scrolling in that browser). I also sometimes get lag when loading the appdrawer (animation is laggy).
Don't know if I'm being paranoid but I think my device may be a bit messed up. When I took it out of the box, I was never greeted with the setup, just the home screen. Had to manually go to settings and add an account. Perhaps this was a returned model that I got given ?

That's because samsung offers enhanced codec support on their galaxy S phones.. those phones running an AOSP build like CM 7 cannot play those formats out of the box. (last time I checked, they hadn't managed to port over samsung's codec support)

Where did you get your's from? Was the box sealed? Mine was from O2, no issues at all, minimal lag if any, I also had a GS2 and I find the GN a much nicer device to use. Maybe do a full factory wipe and start again. For the video MXPlayer has just been updated for ICS and incorporates hardware decoding, best of all it's free, maybe install this one first. Also check the quality of the video's you are putting on.

Contract on O2 but bought from phones4u. They didnt have any in their local shop so they sent this guy to get it from a shop nearby. When the guy gave it to me the box was not sealed (didnt have to cut / open anything to be able to get device out). I thought they do this to show you the phone before hand.
The phone itself had a plastic cover on it's front and back. Thinking back now I'didnt have to put the battery in either, just the SIM.
This was bought 2 days ago. I have done a reset, still do get the same lag, the camera is absolute ****e as well.
I was on text chat to O2 today, told them about the volume bug and all that, and they gave me a ref number. They also said that I could take to any phones4u shop and get it swapped, I will have to do that just to keep my self from going insane with paranoia.
I just want it to work. Call me a snob but I don't really care about sense or touchwiz, as long as it works, that's fine by me.
hi,
well... i'm the strange one, but while everyone is complaining about not able to get real full screen in some cases when you play a video, i'm on the other side, i'm looking for a video player where i could watch videos like how youtube looks like in tablet mode, when you can see other thumbnails next to your video.
before call me crazy, let me explain :cyclops: i love my nexus, i've bought it mainly for its screen, and it is great - but sadly... only when you have hd feed, (oh i love it in hd, and real full screen is great)
unfortunately i do have a lot of music video from the web, and some are really low res. i did change the audio tracks from lossless sources, but couldn't find the videos in better quality, so when i playback my favorite mv's, most of them look awful on the big screen over larged 200% or sometimes 300% :crying: i can of course playback in real size on full screen so the quality is not too bad, but it looks really weird - the big black screen with a tiny video at the center. on the other hand when i watch them on youtube (without playing in full screen) they look ok more or less, the other thumbnails next to the now playing one fill up the empty space.
i'm not sure if such a player exist, but again, i often think something is impossible, then later i find it.
does anyone know something?
Okay this might not be what exactly you are looking for but I think what you really want is a video player where you can resize the playing window so that if the video you are watching happens to be low quality, you can resize it to a smaller frame. In that case try the app Super Video by GPC on the market. It's basically a floating window video player and when you are playing a video, you can resize the window to any size you want. Hope that's useful.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
thanks for the tip, it is not bad at all, it would be close enough.
sadly it won't play smoothly. i did install the sw decoder pack or whatever was the name and now plays my files, but the audio is a bit async, and the video freezes or get blocks all over the screen, look like when a slow pc tries to play full hd files... also it takes 10 mins to load 23 thumbnails, then when i close the app, and reopen it starts again, navigating amongst the videos also freezes the app, have no idea what it is. i have mx player, it plays 720p movies smoothly, but these low quality mv's should not be a problem for any player
any idea?
Hmm I haven't really tested this app a lot so I'm afraid I can't help you. I used it to play some videos which I took with the phone's camera and it played fine. If I have to guess then it probably has problems with certain codices and you might be able to fix the problem by reencoding the videos with a different format, but that might be more trouble than it's worth.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
i reinstalled it with the codecs as well, and now plays well
but something is still not perfect, because when i played one video, and wanted to start the next one, it froze - totally, i had to remove the battery...
anyway, i keep trying, but now i know at least that it's possible, just seen on youtube that galaxy s3 have this feature by default
thanks again
