10live.com - HTC Excalibur

anybody here ever heard of 10live.com? it's a chinese website that allows you to view movies and tv shows in crystal clear definition....even on EDGE...only problem is it's in chinese....there's an app that you can download over at that you can put install on your phone but again, the controls are in chinese...using it involves a lot of trial and error but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy....would love to hear anybody's opinion of this thing...

There is no "crystal clear" definition for our tiny 320 x 240 pixel screen and definitely not on EDGE!!! There's only so much you can do with the small bandwidth EDGE offers and the relatively small resolution the screen will display.

not misleading anybody...
I can tell you this much...it's a whole lot clearer than Technology's BLU-RAY player( not knockin' ya Tech...I still love the player and use it everyday) or the TCPMP flash video bundle player(which I also love and use all the time)...and besides , I wasn't trying to sell anybody on this thing...I just wanted to know if anybody's heard of it and/or using it and what they thought of it...it has it's limitations...for one thing there's a lot of movies but you don't actually get a chance to choose just any movie or show...you're limited to what they have on site...but it's a lot and it's updated almost all the time...and again...you gotta look through every link to find a movie you want to watch since the titles are in Chinese...

actually....
actually....what I really wanted to know if there's a website like that in English...and how come we don't have anything like that here in the States...

thats why
Because we have legislation that strangles the American people from enjoying anything.

so....
you tried it?? what do you think of it?

10 Live
It's a great software. I have in both of my Tilt, Blackjack and N95. Great viewing quality and ability to fastward and resume at any point. It's only avaliable in chinese, however it is not that difficult to master it.

Hey,
I tried using Google to translate the page and this is what I came up with as the description:
10LIVE billion from the Shanghai Science and Technology Co., Ltd network of independent development, a cell phone client software for playing audio and video, support online live television, online support feature film programming; have the latest streaming media technology, no waiting, no need to download. More Multi-version landing http://www.10look.com/down.do
10LIVE support cmwap, cmnet wireless streaming media player software! 10 LIVE can be realized in low-speed networks under the condition of smooth wireless streaming video viewing experience!
1. Brand new interface, more rich content collection
2. Built-in programs here, here to watch a one-stop service
3. Automated software upgrades
4. Infinite Playlist
5. For the adjustment and optimization of China's mobile network transmission network
6. To support a variety of networks (including wifi, gprs, edge, Bluetooth)
7. Fluency high
8. High-definition
let me try and get the software

can someone post the link to the software and is it workable at all or it's of no use to us English -speaking peeps?

Here's the .cab. latest version 1.6.1538
it's kinda hard to use at first. with all of the chinese writing and all, but the movies that are english speaking moves. the audio is in english.... but there are chiniese subtitles for them. It runs at abour 15 to 18 fps and rarely buffers, even on edge.

Shouldn't the thread be locked already since the OP leads to a warez site..?

Guy I know where you are coming from, first of all, you are talking about DEFINITION Mobile Video, a ultra clear stream, because of what they have in their stream signal. That why I dont argue with the mind that say, Oh this phone is a 320x240 resolution, like setting a LIMITATION on a LCD screen.(LOL) That because they don't know, if you know something that that they don't, then it cannot be true.(LOL) Here is my favorite DEFINITION mobile entertainment website {IN ENGLISH} with super ultra clear video resolution, http://mobile.ardcorp.tv. The video is ultra super clear because of what's in the video stream signal,{Ultimate Codecs} now see will it set ANY limitation on your 320x240 screen LCD, but you already know that it will not, because you said that it better than my Blue-ray Screen Video Player and you are correct(LOL), because it's a DEFINITION video stream. Their will be more DEFINITION website in the future, take care enjoy Saturn Liberty...............!

Two months ... No new Base ROM Build

It is almost 2 months since Kavana sent us 080408. While Rick has given us many refreshes of content since, we are still on the same build of the WM 6.1 OS.
Judging from the frequency of updates for various PPCs and PPC Phones, and the lack of them for Smartphones such as the S620, it must be very difficult to get your hands on a Smartphone ROM.
Is there any likelihood of an update soon ?

no, im not using a dell laptop, just a bluetooth dongle that uses the toshiba BT stack.... of yes! of course! i'd like these steps. Just pm me or aim me (or yahoo) as not to flood this thread with instructions for this, since its not related to the reason for this thread.
I've got a dongle that I think uses the MS stack. I can sync via bluetooth in Vista 64 no problemo.

Have you installed programs such as: TCPMP, CorePlayer, or the HTC Streaming Media Player? Each of these will play streaming vids (such as YouTube). As a matter of fact, Technology has posted several codecs in one of his threads which accompanies the TCPMP player. Last night, I watched a video on YouTube (via Excalibur) which was an uncanny resemblance to the quality on my PC! Crystal clear.

I see that you have mastered my picture pixel crystall clear video resoluton quality technology via the codecs pak for the 320X240 Screen(LCD Blue-ray HD)(LOL). You are the man, I know it works like a charm, now tell the other 50,000,000 people that, glad it works for you....!
Excalibur Screen 320X240 LCD QVEGA
With the Excalibur screen the video enhancement is unlimited with the LCD structure, thats why you are getting the super enhance video resolution quality, it accepts a digital signal better than a lot more expense device like the "Tilt"! Now to prove my point go to http://mobile.ardcorp.tv, this company broadcast in a high digital video quality for mobile devices (They Even Call It HDTV). This company offer the highest video resolution resolution quality for the Excalibur and several other devices. That's why I will never ever argue with people that will say, this is the highest video resolution you get for the Excalibur 320X240 screen, not true, that is a false statement as you can see for yourself...............!

Sorry for the delay, Solja! Tech will definitely point you in the right direction as to what to download from his threads. I've personally found TCPMP to be the best grade of quality when viewing streaming video (with the codecs in the thread I mentioned earlier). I didn't think it was possible for video to be as clear (and uninterrupted) on the Excalibur. I was using EDGE, mind you! lol Imagine what kind of quality a Wi-Fi connection would provide!

Dont.. Coreplayer is over priced rubbish. Those guys blame all sorts of things on the lack of APIs and inferior SDKs, when really they just cant do something and justify the huge price they ask. Simple fact.. Android will not support a player that costs 19.99. zyflash is as good as coreplayer would ever get on Android, unless HTC release Divx support. If they do there is no reason to pay for coreplayer since the native player will work fine, and a number of free of cheap alternatives will pop up.
Coreplayer for winmo has been a waste of time for the recent CPUs because qualcomm simply dont support anything but the MPEG4 format they accelerate. Coreplayer isnt getting around this, its just letting you play the files unaccelerated, playback performance is not good.
Why d'ya want DivX anyway? It's a desperately outdated, inefficent format, and I have to use ffmpeg to play it under Windows because the official DivX decoder is horrible, crashes and has dreadful quality. Why support that nonsense? H.264 FTW!
i got an Hd2 with coreplayer and im able to see any divx with excellent frame rate! the only issue is the lack of AC3 audio codec support.
it's a shame that i can't do the same on desire - just drag&drop a movie to see it outside!

This isn't the first time I've seen an opinionated fool like this idiot wade in with such nonsense about Divx / Xvid - some fools just don't think things through. I have approx 3,000 films of which around 98% are in Divx / Xvid - have you any idea how much room that takes up ? Well, son , some quick mathematics would indicate if we just arbitrarily said each film was 700MB, then 3,000 * 700 = 2,100,000MB - do you REALLY think I'm going to re-encode these ? Get a life son and think it through - at present, the lack of Divx / Xvid support is a serious pain in the arse, something which needs to be addressed - I understand it has to do with the underlying Java in Android - whatever - Froyo / Gingerbread needs to up the Android game, which I feel they are doing, to make it a multimedia powerhouse - chop chop

Not being funny but WHY are they in Divx format? I have hundred of movies as well, NONE are in Divx. Divx is dead, MPEG4 is how its going to be because hardware acceleration for MPEG 4 is fast and cheap and efficient.
So you have loads of Divx films, fine, your phone will not hold anything like all of them, so encode when you want to put one on.
Lets get one thing straight. Divx support is BACKWARDS compatibility. Backwards compatibility is never guaranteed in any format change. MP4 is everywhere now, from audio, to youtube, digital satellite and cable through to high end Blu-ray. 700MB Divx implies low res, low bit rate DVD rips, a pretty horrid experience if i may say. If i had those files i would be upgrading to BR rips or at least up scaled higher bitrate files. Even if i didnt want to do that a conversion to MP4 wouldn't take long on such a file.

Its 'ok' on the HD2 yeah, but still costs a lot when TCPMP is free and almost as good. zyPlayer (as its now called in 1.4 form) seems better for WMV files now on Android, most play quite smoothly, AVIs are still a bit sluggish.

Small point of order, but it's a little bit of a nonsense to talk about DivX and MPEG4 in these terms, because DivX *is* MPEG4.
More specifically, DivX is an implementation of the MPEG4 Part 2.
What you are really referring to is H264, which is an implementation of MPEG4 Part 10.
To say that DivX is dead at this stage though would be premature - If you're a regular downloader of TV shows via BitTorrent, most of the content you find will be DivX/XVid. Given that Samsung and LG Android phones support DivX, and that HTC announced that the Desire would be getting an update to support DivX, there are clear indications that support for the codec is still desirable - legacy codec or not.

Dave
divx
It's not a sunrise that froyo doesn't include divx support.
Google are responsible for the OS
It is HTC who have to update the feature. And put divx support. Personally to me its not a deal breaker . I had a Samsung jet with divx support never had cause to watch a film on it.

Given the size of the Jet i wouldnt either.. but i had/have the Omnia HD and i can tell you it was brilliant to watch TV/Films on it. Infact it was so cool i could just drop files onto the SD card and then at lunch time at work just nip out and pass the time watching a proggy.
Now i had to know what i fancy to watch and wait 1hour even 2 hours for it to convert.

Media Playback

I had all but given up hope on this topic, but I guess I'll ask.
The Samsung Galaxy S will play Divx/Xvid/MKV natively without a conversion. This is probably one of the best features I have ever heard, as I have hoped for it to be in some sort of mobile device I already owned, such as a phone, psp, or some other multi-purpose device, instead of having to buy a standalone media player which tends to play many formats.
All videos I watch are encoded in these formats (well mkv encoded in x264, with mkv container). Is there, or will there ever be a way to play these on Android 2.1 or 2.2 for other models? I have an evo, and would be EC-FREAKING-STATIC if I could just drag and drop videos to watch on it. Especially with the hdmi out!! I love the evo, I really think it is great. This one feature is the icing on the cake for me.
If it cannot be done, can somebody just give me a brief description as to why? The way I see it, when you need to play these files on a pc, you just install a video codec to decode it. Isn't there some way it can be added?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer this.
P.S.- For anyone who thinks conversion isn't a big deal, I agree, it really isn't. The thing is, a lot of the time I find out I need to be somewhere, have to leave right away, and don't have anything converted to watch. I can't tell you how many times I wish I had this feature!
atm there are not many options, at least as far as i know...
stock player (good baseline h264 playback)
rockplayer (good divx/xvid playback)
yxplayer (decent main/high h264 playback)
for everything else, i simply have "stream" folder on my PC, drop all other vids there, and play them using OrbLive while on the go.
Damn I have been living in the dark. Thanks!
just finished playing with rockplayer, and its pretty darn good
im actually waiting for something bad to happen, and then i

[Q] Converting Video for WP7

Hi all,
just wondering what people are using to convert .avi/.mkv/etc to mp4/wmv/etc so Zune/Wp7 can use them?
ATM i'm using anyvideoconverter and converting the video's to "Zune HD" but it seems to leave a black border of about 5mm around every edge of the video which is really annoying me, so anyone got any other good ones?
Only confirmed ones please, i've used dozens of Conversion apps that say they'd do the job but in reality they don't, so only post if you've used one for WP7/Zune.
Just convert your Video to MP4 or WMV with WVGA resolution.

*EDIT* Just found This Thread which Recommends a GUI for MENCoder called "SUPER". My dealings with MENCoder have been great in the past so i'll give it a go and let others know what it's like.
FWIW the Microsoft way is to use Expression encoder for WMV. It's free, it's nice, and it does a good job encoding, so if you want WMV you should use that one.

My Zune does not even want to read WMV files so I can not upload. I have multiple copies of DVD's/Blu-Ray's with digital copie of movie for portable devices.
I can copy those movies to my PC and watch them, I can watch them on HD2 but zune doesn ot see them so I can not copy them on to phone. They are all in WMV or MP4 format.
MP4 don't work in Zune!

Same problem, I have digital copy's of blu-ray's that came with them, they play using WMV but the Zune Software won't see them and won't play them.
Download 'Expression Encoder'. There's an option to encode specifically for Zune.

Mabe the audio stream?
I was just playing around with this last night, and the biggest issue was the audio stream. While it plays h264 streams up to the High Profile level 3.0, it did not like an AC3 stream. I had to demux a video that I had in an mkv container, convert the audio to AAC and remux into an mp4 container. Microsoft has a whole detailed table of stream type compatibility with bit rates, profiles, etc. I can't seem to post links, so search for it at the msdn dot microsoft dot com under this title "Supported Media Codecs for Windows Phone". The list on the WP7 consumer site sucks btw.
The AAC has two compatible types, AAC-LC and HE-AACv1 or v2.
I used MeGui to redo the audio, and yamb to mux it.
Thanks dgetz, here is the link to msdn.

I can confirm that MP4 works on the Focus, using TV shows previously converted for my iPhone 4
I use handbrake on Windows and Mac to convert my videos, using the settings from
http://lifehacker.com/5572037/handbrake-presets-for-your-new-ipad-or-iphone-4
The results have been good, but using the frame(middle) setting shown in that article does bump up the file size a good amount, and as I'm sure a lot of you have heard, storage space isn't so easy to come by on WP7 yet...
Handbrake
I too can vouch for handbrake. All of the videos I have made for my ipod touch with it work just fine on the Focus. Unfortunately, the library I have for the touch is lower resolution, with videos at about 1/2 DVD resolution and at 500kbps encode rate. I end up with about 500 MB for the about 90 min. It is nice because they don't take up a lot of room, but still look decent. When output to a standard definition TV they look fine as well.
When I first put a few of these home videos on the Focus the lower quality was immediately noticeable. To see how I could push the phone, in my reply above I took a full DVD resolution video 720x400 (16x9 non-anamorphic) and corrected the audio stream. That video looks gorgeous on the Focus screen and is great for showing off the phone. It also takes up over 2.5 GB!!!! It is encoded at a rate of about 2100 kbps. As with any video encoding for a mobile device you have to make your own decision about resolution, encoding rate, etc in that constant game of quality versus size.
One thing to note. If there are black bars on your video, then either you have a video that was not encoded in a proportion that matches your screen or it was hard coded with the black bars. The second thing should be rare nowadays (eliminating this wasted information space was the point of an anamorphic DVD). The first is actually very common. IF your media is a studio movie, almost every action film these days comes at 2.35:1 instead of 16:9=1.77:1. Personally I like viewing any of my content in the way it was originally intended to be viewed and don't ever re-proportion anything. At the moment I am not sure if the Focus/WP7 'stretches' videos. I know on my ipod touch this was an option you could toggle by double tapping the video during playback...
Maybe I will play around with a few options tonight and report back.
have a zunehd and remember seeing this thread on abi
anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58183
it converts the audio of any avi/mkv and keeps the video the same, so converting only takes a few mins, and zune software recognizes it..for the zunehd anyways, maybe someone can try w/ wp7
Since I couldn't find right settings for MediaCoder (best video converter ever).
I was using Prism Video Converter for my Omnia7.
About settings for prism:
For .wmv use as video compresor WMV9 and for sound WMAV9, i am not changing the resolution as it is not bothering me at all. All files (mostly avi or mkv) played smooth after conversion.
If anybody have good settings for MediaCoder I will be much appreciated for sharing.
Thx
Okay, so MP4forHD works. The quality still isn't stunning, but it'll do for now (i guess.) However, i've encountered an issue with contrast. All my blacks appear as dark grays, which drives me nuts

Galaxy 3 like Video app??

Have you guys seen the youtube of Samsung Galaxy 3....Man I love the video player capability of minimizing while you can still type sms while watching the movie. I think it's an awesome idea. Is there any video app can do that?? Just cant believe HTC have not even include any video app other than the CRAPPY useless HTC watch.
There you go my friend

You can use different skins for the player too - mac one looks very polished.
Also blow your mates away by having two videos open at the same time whilst browsing the net - blinkin awesome

Nice.....but really bad cant make it full screen again???? you can only resize but cant make it full screen again. Think the dev should implement this feature.
Also very much a gimmick to me. Like Facetime. Or Siri. Will rarely ever be used outside of the 1st week/month, trust me
When I was watching unpacking galaxy then been thinking what a stupid idea is a watch movie and in the same moment writing sms, now I see people like that.
That seems so pointless and gimmicky. All touchscreen apps (every app you would download/use) is designed to use the entire screen. With a small video playing on the screen you are going to blocking at least SOME elements of the UI, in many cases rendering the app of the moment useless.
The S3 is a vomitted-up mix of software gimmicks and bad industrial design. The US versions are nothing more than a S2 with an LTE radio. Thanks, but no thanks.
