I've been having off and on issues with my E4GT screen and would like a replacement. Ive been living with it since february, but it's getting very annoying for such a beast of a phone. Is there any way I can switch it out and get a white one? I do have the tep insurance if it matters. I'm in the Dallas area. Please PM me if you think you can help
Chances are they'll send whatever refurb is next in line.

Since they are two foretaste model numbers, they will send whatever is attached to your account. Your best bet would be going to a local store and trying to persuade a rep to help you out... But chances are you'll be leaving with the same model that is on your account.
Good luck
Jason

I'm doing this same thing. My wife wants a white one now so I'm trying to figure something out.
I figure if I throw enough of a fit about how Sprint owes my a** something in order to make up for their lack of any mentionable data speeds while I still pay every month for 'premium data' - a white E4GT swap for my wife is the least they can do.
Otherwise I'll just cancel my contract with no ETF due to them failing to hold up their end of the contract. Or they can upgrade us both to a SGSIII when it comes out so I can have the speeds I was promised with LTE and 1x Advanced.
All I need is a tech!! I spoke to a 3rd party sprint rep and they said it can be switched with either, its basically up to the tech. Is there any one at all in the Dallas area that would like to help a fellow XDAer out? (i would be more than happy to bring a donation to a cause of their choosing )
btw I do have the ted insurance, so would that provide any help in getting a white replacement more easily? I dont want to pay the $100, but im almost willing to at this point. hence the "donation" not being an issue
I need help with this too but I live in NJ :/

Sprint rep, Sprint rep, Sprint rep!
o nvm i forgot i dont have a mirror app
bump. I would really like to get this resolved by the weekend
I already told you what you need to do.
You also have to remember that being a technician is our job, not strictly our hobby. We have to adhere to policies. I personally wouldn't swap you just because you asked, my SRSS frowns upon that.
The best thing to do is bite the bullet, drive to the store, and take whatever is given to you.
I understand what youve told me, however it is difficult for me to leave the office again and go through the hours of bs just to end up with someone looking at the thing for 20 min and saying nothing is wrong or I need to get a battery (yes, someone told me my screen and buttons malfunctioned due to my battery). This is not the first time I have done this and I am fed up to say the least. I know more about these devices and this network than 80% of the people working at the stores I've gone to.
Replacing the device is the hard part and the color change is a bird id like to kill with the same stone. All I was looking for was assistance from a fellow member to stream line things and get me the customer service that Sprint should be striving for. God knows their data speeds and innovation aren't going to save them.
I'm sorry for the rant, it was not directed at you. Ive been calling Sprint for weeks about separate issues and I was trying to take this issue on by myself. If it comes down to it I will bite the bullet and deal with them the old fashion way, but that is my last resort
Depending in what custom ROM you're running (sorry just assuming since you're on xda, if not it doesn't matter) if you type *#0*#0 on the dialer it brings up a diagnostic menu. One of the tests in this menu is a line drawing test for the touchscreen. If you can see it consistently messing up in a certain part of the screen that's one of the easiest tests we have to verify touchscreen issues and a good way to make sure the tech you talk to isn't just going to say sorry we can't verify the issue. And as much as it can suck if we can't reliably duplicate the issue our options are pretty limited as far as repair/replacement goes.
As for the color issue, I may be in the minority but if I have the parts in and someone comes in and asks nicely, I don't mind swapping what color someones screen/housing is of there's actually a problem

tried to do the dialer and it wont let me input the last 0. i think the hashes are the start and end of a code, so nothing can go after them
Yea when they sent us the code that's how out was written but now that I think about out out does just jump into the menu as soon a you hit the second #. I think it only works on completely stock roms though, I just tried it on calks el29 and no joy

tried on calk2 1.6 and no go. idk why it would only be on completely stock. calk practically is
An easy way to tell, for me, is dragging down notification bar, if it gets really choppy in a certain area, then you definitely have a spot that's out. Doesn't always work, but easy to tell. The dio menu, I am pretty sure it only works on completely stock roms with EL29, I have not tried on any ICS leaks though. I am currently running CM, so obviously, doesn't work lol.

I have had a Sprint rep tell me that a charging issue that my old Hero had was due to a bad cable. So I bought a new cable(not from sprint) and had the same problem. Took it back and they said it was the battery. So I bought a new battery(not from sprint), and had the same issue(returned the battery after. The last issue they said was that the charging port was loose, but they didn't want to fix it because they didn't want to ruin the internals of the phone.
I have hardly ever gotten good service by a rep in a Sprint store. I have gotten good service over the phone though.

I'd cancel your contract in a heartbeat.
It's a cell phone, there is no reason to have a sense of entitlement. If you don't like your data speeds or whatever, cut ship and go elsewhere. But don't even try that bull****.
If you really want a white one shove a flat head in your charging port and break the pins ( made me cringe when I seen my buddy do it) automatically a replacement cause we can't fix them. Then go to a 3rd party preferred retailer and when they go to order it just ask nicely for a white one. As long as you have TEP is all free

I have been having a lot of problems with my new honey, namely in the signal department! I went through a whole thing with it right after activation...it worked, then didn't, then did...etc. A chat session, phone call, & 2 trip to the actual store (all in 1 day!) resulted in them doing a factory reset and sending me on my looney way. It seemed to have helped, for about a day and a half. Now it is dropping signal again! It seems to do so, sometimes, when I have the wifi on. But then sometimes not (I'm not sure if wifi is culprit or coincidence.)
The ATT store employees said I may have changed a setting (I'm sure I didn't as I don't know of any setting that would even cause that!) and also "explained" my signal will naturally fluctuate...(They think I am an idiot, obviously and of course the phone was working fine when I was there...duh!) They also gave me a new sim card.
I *really* want to love this phone! But I'm finding it frustratingly undependable. Texts won't send when I need them to. I'm not getting them either, always. Voice is hit or miss when it drops (sometimes it works, sometimes not.) I have ALSO noticed the signal is not as strong as my old beloved Cappy. That thing was a horse (and I'm thinking of going back to it if this new one doesn't wise up!) Seriously, $300 bucks for a brand new phone & it can't keep a proper signal?
Is it the radio? Is it the software (still 100% stock, unrooted)? Should I make them give me a new one? What if it doesn't work, either? Flashing it to fix the issue is fine for me, but I've been holding out for multi-view before I get flash-crazy. lol Not to mention I may have to return it so better to not mess with it [yet]. I'm very frustrated & tired of getting looked upon like I'm the typical woman idiot who is not as smart as her new smartphone!!! I am NOT imagining it!!!

Sounds like your antennae is shorting out or something like it wasn't soldered properly or the cable isn't secure. Would explain why WiFi affects it. I'd go there and demand a replacement and if they don't wanna budge your within 30 day no questions return. Then go to a diff store and get a new one. I really don't see it being a software issue.

Is it possible that whatever the problem was, it miraculously resolved itself? I had it drop signal two more times since this post, then nothing since. It's been working perfectly. I hate to keep it if it might arise again but I hate to return it if it was some weird fluke thing.
This may or may not be related to the above problem: has anyone noticed their reception is not as good as on a previous device? I had a Cappy and it always got great signal. I noticed this one is not as strong in the same places I previously visited with my old phone. Although admittedly, it seems to be improving. Does that even make sense or is even possible? Just like me, my phone has to be the goofball of the bunch!

Nope. I've done nothing because I'm having this returning debate. lol I'm itching to though!
This is classic "my car doesn't work so take it to the garage then it works fine and they will make fun of you" If I do return it what do I say? It is documented about my "troubles" as per the ATT phone rep. Though if I can't reproduce the problem they're just going to send me on my way, I'm afraid.

You spent enough money on the device, you should be absolutely happy with it, not apprehensive. If you wait past the return date, it's going to sit in the pit of your stomach for 20 months and ruin your enjoyment of it until you can upgrade again. Not worth it. Smile your brightest smile, walk into the store, very nicely tell them that you've had multiple issues and the AT&T phone reps said to go in and ask for an exchange. That's it. They're going to count on you being intimidated and going away. Smile, be nice, and don't be intimidated.
If they say you have to reproduce the problem, invite them to spend the day with you. The Note 2 is amazing and you shouldn't settle if you believe your hardware is having problems.

Yes. I have decided to take it in later today, as my 14 days is up on Friday. I hope they have stock of them. Anyhow...I have another question. If a phone is sitting still with no movement (and the weather is good, lol) will there be variations in signal strength? I get 3 bars with 4G showing, then it drops to one tiny bar. Sometimes the 4G disappears then reappears. The it will go back up to 4 bars. All in the course 5 minutes! I do realize signal will vary with movement but will it if your phone is just sitting there?
I am trying to experiment a little. I just realized/remembered that I had (uneventfully) dropped my phone (not hard, in-case) about the same time as my dropped signal problem pretty much resolved itself. So then I was like, hmm, maybe there IS something loose inside. I've tried gently shaking/jarring it here on my desk, coincidentally with the bars dropping back to just 1 as a result. But then again it may be coincidental as they are seeming to waiver A LOT. I just wondered if it is normal.
I never really stared at my old phone (Galaxy1) here at my desk but I'm almost positive it always had more than 1 bar at this same location and I never noticed it waiver like this one. But like I said I never had to make myself stare at it to check, either! lol Just wondering if someone knows a little more about cellphone signal 101 than me.
I have the issue of no 4G HSPA+ but I can get a strong LTE signal when in an LTE reception area. I'm wondering if you are in an LTE area and can get LTE? Where are you located?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I have noticed problems with my GN2 as well. Mine shows I have signal but my data stalls or doesn't seem to work as it should. I'm in an area where there shouldn't be any problems. Only seems to happen in non LTE areas. Whenever I have LTE signal this thing is blazing fast.

Update: Took the phone in. Basically, they had never heard of the issue with this phone. But...I walked away with a replacement. So far so good though I've had it only a few hours. The girl was very nice & explained even though I was borderline limit she would take care of me. I told her I received it Fri the 9th but she said they were basing the 14 days on the 7th! I said I didn't physically have it till the 9th! Jeeze. Moot point since she was going to take care of it anyhow but it just concerned me how (corporate) att could chop 2 days of my in-store return time!
So no, I'm not in LTE land, unfortunately. 3g H+ & E only though I can't complain about the coverage or speed. Good enough for me 4 sure.
The signal bars waivered quite a bit even while in the store. They said while some fluctuation is normal it shouldn't be as much as it was doing especially with the close proximity of the tower & good weather and especially while just sitting on the counter.
I downloaded the free app "No Signal Alert" from the Play Store. In just a few hours it recorded lost signal 4 times! (In a very good coverage area) [my first phone b4 the exchange] Consider using it if you want to see if you are losing signal like I was. Handy app!
Hopefully this is a good one. I know it sounds goofy but this phone seems to even move faster than the other. Weird. It will be interesting to hear if anyone else is having this problem. Maybe there was a bad batch of them or something? Like the Nexus I read about & their signal problems.

Haha im glad that they helped ya! No its not goofy or silly to think that one phones faster then another because no two phones are alike. The silicone chips are very different and performance can very greatly. I had an s3 that wouldnt take custom kernels to save its life but I got it replaced after a two year old and a toilet incident haha and that one took even the most abusive settings in stride!

I have a similar situation with mine. LTE will be working fine but then I notice that once I connect to my home wifi and then either leave my wifi range or turn off wifi the LTE icon will show in the status bar and it will show that it's sending and receiving data but Web pages will stall and never load, Play Store will timeout, and SpeedTest.net will start up but the needle will freeze about 1/8 of the way up indefinitely. I've toggled data at this point but it never fixes it, I have to restart the phone at which point LTE works perfectly but once I get back on my wifi the cycle will repeat, this has happened reliably for about the past week.
Do you all think I have a defective radio or am I missing something? I'm still within my return Window and will probably swap it Friday.

Sounds very similar to how mine is acting. I'm wondering if it is the ATT smart WiFi app causing the problem. Shows data incoming and outgoing but stalls.

That's exactly how it's acting for me. I just now disabled the AT&T Smart WiFi app and after a quick restart and toggle test there was no problems, but I'm not sure if the problem will only pop up after I've been on wifi for a while. I'm going to see if it keeps doing it tomorrow.

Disabling Smart WiFi appeared to fix the problem.

What I noticed today is that when this same issue happens, with 4G icon and wifi icon both active, it occurs after I manually check for a firmware update within the system settings. The 4G icon doesn't go away until I reset the phone.
Also I manually deleted the all the AT&T boat ware apps before this was happening so the smart wifi app is not causing this for me.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Weird, if you get the issue and don't have the Smart WiFi app then it must be something else and it was coincidence that it worked normal for me today. I've only checked for firmware once (when I first got my phone) so it must be something else causing it. I'm hoping the multi view firmware will also have a fix for it.

Yes unfortunately my note 2 got stolen at a party and even if I had some kind of tracking app installed it would be useless because they pulled the battery as soon as they took it.
This gave me an idea that some smart developer might take advantage of.
I propose we cook something into the rom's (like carrier IQ) that has the ability to track the location of that phone. Not tied to the mobile number or the sim card but to the phone itself. This way if somebody puts in a different sim the phone can still be tracked and controlled remotely. Also if they do a wipe of the phone, this will still be in there unless they switch roms.
Now this would be a service that is always available but is pay per use.
So if you never have to use it you never have to pay for it, but if your phone gets stolen you pay like $3-$5 to get the location of your phone emailed to you.
Just a thought.
I lost all hope on my phone coming back but I would really like not to experience this again in the future and I don't want anybody else to have to go through this either.
They already have this
Avast security with root features does just about everything
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
Cerberus does this too. Doesn't need root, and it even survives factory resets. Alerts you if somebody puts in an unauthorized sim.
Whether or not it would survive a custom rom flash, I don't know (probably wouldn't if the rom wipes /system maybe - I don't know where Cerberus stores itself).
BTW, that sucks that somebody stole your N2. =\
Iirc there's also the Plan B app that's meant to be installed from Google Play in those situations.

Yeah did that, also filed a police report. Also tried the plan b apps but those are mainly for lost phones and not stolen ones where the battery and sim is pulled right away.
I also looked into the cerberus app and I am very impressed, I wish I had this earlier

I lost all hope on my phone coming back but I would really like not to experience this again in the future and I don't want anybody else to have to go through this either.

That sucks dude. Did you get insurance?
That sucks man. One of the main reasons why I switched to tmo from sprint. Since I have cheaper phones laying around, I just switch them out before I go anywhere I.e a bar etc. That way if I lose (or stolen) anything, itll be something I can live with.
I know with sprint I can swap the esns online but it doesnt work half the time and have to call care to fix it. Sim cards are ingenious.
I recommend everyone have some throw away phones for reasons like this. Or insurance.

Not sure about this one. So you just use your awesome phone when you are at home or at work? I would be lost if I left home without my note 2

Frankly speaking I have already lost 2 mobile phones..
It feels very odd, n weird...
The most horrifying thoughts are that people might go through all the data, video, pics that u tried so hard to keep a secret...
Seriously v need a better technology here...
Almost every mobile has gps, n now they also have Russian + American GPS installed in our latest mobiles, that really makes me think, every mobile can b theoretically tacked down, no matter watt.. but still v are at mercy of cops n operators...
Developers really need to focus on this idea n boost a total new era...
P.S
I too use tracking apps, but still they are limited.. u can find it if it was lost.. but how do u manage to located it in real time, when u living in high density of population?

I use aeGis(hoping I could send out the SMS in time to activate it) and on my lock screen I put a little message that says "This phone is equipped with Lojack. It is being tracked via GPS" just hoping that it deters theft.

Yes unfortunately my note 2 got stolen at a party and even if I had some kind of tracking app installed it would be useless because they pulled the battery as soon as they took it.

Not to sound rude, but seriously how do you know that they pulled the battery and sim immediately? Did you find the battery door sitting on the ground or something? It's not exactly intuitive to pull the battery door on the Note 2.
IMHO I can't help but think that lookout and/or prey could have helped you, or at the very least a lock screen and encrypted FS to protect your data. Still I'm sorry that this happened to you. I know lookout will send a shout out when the battery gets low with its last know location. That along with a lock screen would give you a pretty decent chance of recovering the device. Maybe something to consider for the future.
A Lesson Learned
They have to put the battery in eventually. I use Lookout, and you can wipe all your data from the click of your computer. It also has a lot of locating features. I'm pretty sure I upgraded and paid a little for the app. But it is definitely worth it when it comes to the stuff you keep on your phones now a days. I don't like keeping a pin on mine or the pattern. Too much of a pain personally every time you want to go in your phone. On a side note, NEVER leave your note 2 lying around at a party. It should be in your hands dazzling ALL.
Just a thought, Any app will require a working internet connection before submitting any data/info to their servers.
The device can be easily switched on without sim, wiped and flashed and good to use.
But yes, these apps may help if the one who stole is not smart enough.

OMG reading all this got me paranoid and just gone ahead and purchased Cerberus and installed it on all my devices !!
So sorry to hear that your phone got stolen. I just hope you find it or somehow claim it on your insurance !! house car work or similar !!!
A coworker had the same thing happen to him at work a couple of years ago.
My group works in a limited access area with badge scanners on the door and cameras watching the doorway.
There were about 15 of us and we were all in a meeting. My coworker had left his phone on his desk. He remembered a few minutes into the meeting and went to grab it. It was gone.
It was clear none of us had taken it since we were all in the meeting together!
Reported it to security who quickly reviewed the CCTV video. A maintenance guy walked in, saw it laying on the desk, and grabbed it. Other cameras showed he immediately (not even 10 steps away) had pulled the battery. He walked straight outside to his vehicle and on the way tossed sim card in trash. I'm sure it was headed for a pawn shop at lunch that day.
My sister had her phone taken in a mall restroom. She was helping her young daughter in the stall and sat her phone on top of the toilet paper dispenser.
Of course she walked off without the phone. She washed up her hands and her daughter and literally got three steps out the door when she realized she didn't have the phone.
It was already gone and there was nobody else in the restroom!
I called the number immediately. Whoever took it answered and simply laughed and taunted us to come find them.
We ended up calling AT&T and having them disable the IMEI number. Never got the phone back.

I've been having this issue also, it keeps getting worse. It seems like something is not getting cleared because after a clean wipe/flash everything is fine. Then as time goes on it starts happening again. I thought it might just be a rogue app, so I didn't install or restore anything and it eventually freezes. I think it may be a JB issue because I've seen people with other phones post about it as well. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this.

Took mine in just now. They are gonna replace it. It froze while the guy was using it. I think the big man up top threw me a freebie because I forget to get rid of the root and all, but the sprint guy noticed how hot my phone gets (I thought it was normal but apparently not, he said it was borderline damaging my phone, been like that since the day I got it) and he said he was just gonna replace it right then and there. Getting it Wednesday. Glad he didn't see my clockworkmod.
But sprint is very good to me. Kinda sad they remember me because I come a lot since 2010.

It's really going to come down to store interpretation of the rules. Yeah, there are so many variables that could come with the rooting process itself it's also so unlikely to be the problem. The commonality of bad electronics is so, well....common and this does sound so hardware-ish. I'm absolutely certain some other store would have been jerks about it just because the store happened to hire jerks. Sounds like they get good people. I'd say write them a nice email. Try to add the guy's name in. At least help him get a better raise or something for his effort.

Thank you for clearing this up. I'm with you on the hardware issue though, because if it freezes up for the basic scrolling then there is something wrong. Plus if it gets that hot that quick without much usage there is obviously something wrong.
My LCD went out and I had to go to 3 different Sprint stores just to get it fixed..
I hope it's not hardware related. This is the second phone that has done it and it takes about a month each time for the issue to show up. That could be a manufacturing defect, but it seems so rare and random.

He would have if it didnt get to hot while he used it. While he was checking for normal freezing problems, it froze on him, and then right before he was about to factory reset it, he said he would just order a new one. He showed the other tech how hot it was and was amazed. It froze just from opening an app and scrolling,
and got hot with 3G turned on and the phone just sitting there. I've always used stock rooted, never flashed new kernel or anything. I think he might have noticed and just let it slide, because as I said before, I have been coming in since 2010 with legitimate reasons to replace phones. I just odin'd my phone after triangle away so it looks completely stock. Before that I backed up all my files with my backup, and when I get the new phone, I will just root it and restore. I'm lucky though. I told him that I have tried many factory resets and even the Odin ones where it wipes the internal memory and it still does it (which is true, I have). When I take it in, I could have acted dumb and said NY friend did that rooting so he could silences my camera blah blah, but I like to be honest.

Just make sure you reset the flash counter and Odin it after you backup all the files you will need.

I always try to do that. Every time I go in, the techs are so nice. They say sprint may call and text me about my store experience and they ask will you say you had a good one, and I always say I definitely will, but I never get that call or text. Didn't know you could email, so I will definitely do that now! Like I said, I have been where stores hire jerks, and tech wise, they have always been kind and willing to help. Maybe its because I'm straight forward with them, maybe not. If he would have asked if I rooted it I would have said yes. Thank you for the idea.

Well that's good. Just take it in and tell them what is going on. Glad I'm not the only one with the issue. I wasn't gonna take it in, but today it froze 6 times in a 30 min to and hour time interval and I decided it was time to. And I guess its not suppose to get that hot. I'm just thinking from Windows perspective, considering MS can corrupt files if you pull out laptop battery before shutting down the windows. How about with Android? If I pull out a battery before shutting it down, will anything in N2 going to get corrupted?
Here is why I'm asking. For anybody with Zerolemon, you can probably relate to this. The battery is huge and TPU case is tight, so on one occasion when I was taking case off I pulled the battery out as well. And in general, while I'm switching between TPU case and Defender mod, if I pull out a battery in the middle of use without shutting down N2, would it cause a problem?
i've tried it when its annoys me
[FONT="Arial ="5"]
• Sony Live with Walkman
I don't think so. I've done it countless times, but I switch ROMs so often that *maybe* the slight software defects go unnoticed. I think its fine though.
Just a guess here, but I would say yes to this an any other electronic device BUT.................we have come a long way in the IT field!! Most Servers (I said Servers, not cell phones?) have an internal battery that prevents (in a way?) this sort of thing. I can pull the plug, but its still several seconds before it actually shuts down (depending on WHAT was actually running when I pulled the plug.)
With that said, and after I thought about it, maybe not. just like letting your battery die? Phone will shut itself off automatically to save settings, so there maybe a little juice just for this?
Just a thought.

The answer to your question is "it depends." It's like running a stop light. Maybe it's OK, maybe it's disaster.
I've been using Android since 2009 and I DID have one incident pulling the battery. I needed to change batteries and powered down. I was in a rush so I pulled the battery before it was fully down. Big mistake. When I put the new battery in and powered up I was at the factory reset. I had to reinstall everything. Very bad.
On the other hand, I've removed the battery, either on purpose or accidentally, many times over the years and only that one time did I have a problem.
I've been pulling batteries for years with no ill effects... He'll that's how we fixed glitches on blackberry and htc devices.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I do it all the time and never had a problem. Android is based on Linux which is in turn quite different from windows. You don't need to shut down Linux either. You can just pull the plug out while you're in the desktop and apart from the fact you'll loose any unsaved changes to your documents there will be no ill effects.

I have been pulling my battery for years, even in the old Windows Mobile & PocketPC days. The only thing, I could think of, is to be careful about **(in my opinion) is if you had something writing some type binary file to the external SD card.

Listen to this guy!! I have been in IT since 1983, pulling the battery could cost you millions! ($1.8Million to be exact) The good side, I got 50 shares of stock to fly to Dallas and rebuild server! :good: Listen to John, last resort.
What I have found with Android, as stated, if you have something open, you lose it AND you sometimes get 1/2 way up (Android Guy), then have to use power button to shut it off, then power button to cut it on. Good Luck!

I agree with you 100%, not completely an assurance with a product like Visions Solutions ODS/OMS or MIMIX for journaling BUT, worst case, both servers are in same Data Center and you lose power and generator does not kick in? Best case, you only lose last transaction, role swap to target, activate user IP on target, let users work, switch them back when ready on source system, let journaling catch up.............
I've don't that a few times I guess you can tell John? Oh, and if you work for a Casino company, that property is losing 'X' hundreds of thousand of dollars a minute because all machines automatically shut down and you have some a** reminding you of such every 15 seconds or so and how they have to give customers free food and drinks to keep them from leaving and you need to work faster !! I should have studied harder in college and been doctor or lawyer like my mother said?

Back on topic and to the OP, this guy (his name is John?) seem to know a few things. LISTEN to him!! You can pull that battery a million times successfully with no problem. It only takes ONCE and all hell breaks loose (like your in the middle of Android update or camera was open and you loose all you pictures?) there are other options, soft reset or ask someone here. You get an answer pretty fast.. ........
The only other thing I can add? Backup your phone often and move backup to your laptop, desktop, USB Drive.......Whatever. And if your into rooting and flashing ROM's, Titanium Backup is a must!! I think I paid like $9.00 but its a life saver!! I have mine auto set for 3AM Monday?,
Either way, good luck!
John,
Since we are all friends here, quick funny story. I worked for payroll processing company. we were doing new internet project and along the way, it never worked correctly. They hired this white boy (I will explain that later!) as president of some crap from M.I.T. and as I used to work for IBM, he wanted me. He had this bright idea to upgrade and do re-org on DB as same time. In planning this, I found IBM White Paper stating "Not to do this unless instructed by IBM Development?" I did not test this, I just showed idiot this paper? His thing was, "Don't worry about it, I will do it myself?" My thing to my direct manager..............I was told to leave him alone. I always knew DB2 and Orcale did not play nice. I know DB2, not Orcale, but I know they are not friends. Friday he did it, Saturday I was on my way to dallas!
Now said white boy as an a**! A A** to everyone around except me and another brother. He treated us like pets for some odd reason. BB (I use initials) leased a Lexus on company because he told him he was tired of putting mileage on his car? I got suite at hotel because I was working MAD hours and r.oom was killing me. One hand, I hated him. He dropped my bosses budget from $5Million to like $250K? but hey, he was hooking me up?
The VERY next Tuesday upon my return, he wanted to talk. Idiot had plan for Friday to again do this. My thing was, we need to bring in IBM Development. His thing was.,"I have 2 Masters from M.I.T, I don't need IBM!" I told my manager AND his boss at the same time (I'll never forget cause it seems like yesterday) "Don't call me this weekend and if you I will immediately resign!" Now me and my manager were like brothers, he** I loved him more then my actual brothers! We had travled the together, our families knew each other. He knew I was serious!
Friday I go to Happy Hour then Liquor Store for bottle of Remy' Martin and case of beer. 2:00AM I start to get hammered. 8:00AM doorbell rings, its my manager, he just tells me to read this! A note from CEO, fly to Dallas, fix AS400 (AS400? that funny cause they have changed Server name like 3 times since then?) and I will give you 50 shares of stock and anything Hardware Support needs? I'm drunk and tired and don't feel like packing crap. Manager says, I'll take you to PHL and go with you, we can get clothes in Dallas? Hum................
After my return, a few things changed!!! I personally had lunch with CEO (he was in another city, saw pictures, but never met him?) He told me this could never happen again. I told him I told his choice idiot, my manager, and 3 other VP's days before his planning, NOT to do it. He told me if I have any trouble out of idiot, call his cell phone and gave me his cell number. After him, idiot and I meet. What can we do to prevent this?
1. Don't do it again, bring in IBM. Done
2. The 11 guys in my department have been doing my work remotely and helping me on this internet project. They need new laptops. Thinkpads. 1.5GHz Duel Core with 2GB of memory (Hey, that was huge back then!) Done.
3. I have really been busting my a** from 7:30AM to 10:00PM 7 days a week. I really need some rest and get away. Additionally, I have no clue whats going on in my department............................I would have been fine with weekend in AC, 45 minute drive. Me, 11 people in my group including manger AND their family's flew to Disney. We had 2 hour meeting in conference room on Friday and partied like he** until Monday!!
Like you stated, it's one in a million pulling that battery, but if you get that once, there is a HUGE price attached!
Hope you all enjoyed my story!
