Try to use third party tethering application..
make sure you have mobile data activated
mine works with a minimum speed of 512 kbps..might be stronger in other locations
I try 3rd party app but same prob.. also other phone can connect to my wifi hotspot but cant connect to internet..

Thats a little too short question.
Please provide more info.
Ok to make a shorter question longer, is it possible to update apps thru an usb cable connected to a computer instead of using wi-fi or mobile network?

There is a way to use your computer's internet on your phone via USB, (Google for reverse tether) but it doesn't work for play store downloads unfortunately. But if you have the apk files on the computer you can install via adb...
Sent from my MB525 using xda app-developers app
Provided you have the new APK it is possible using Droid Explorer.
If what you want to do is not use WiFi or your 3G, you could use the PC Internet while connected thru USB, this last option is not available for all phones tho.
If you only need internet connection from computer then try connectify for sharing your PC's connection wirelessly.
Search android reverse tether... it very easy!

You can share any file using wifi-direct, which in the end is what s-beam uses to transfer

Correct me if im wrong but wifi direct u have to be connected to the same wireless network right cos i tried using wifi direct but when scanning it cant detect other phones. I do not wish to use wireless home networking.

Wifi-direct is a p2p connection so it does not require a router or network. It basically behaves like phone - phone Bluetooth Connection except it has the faster wifi transfer speeds.
If the other phone is not being detected, there is some security or setting that needs to be changed.
S-beam uses nfc to secure the p2p link and uses Wifi - direct to transfer.
Android beam uses nfc to link but uses Bluetooth to transfer.

Ok will try again tonight n revert back. Thanks again

A friend and I were playing with the wifi direct, and it took us a while to get it working properly.
We would turn on wifi and then go into wifi direct... It would scan and pick up the other person's device. Connect to it as you would bluetooth and then you can send files by going to the file you wish to send and long press-share via wifi direct, select the device you wish to send it to and off it goes. A 1.3GB avi file takes about 2 mins to transfer.

So connect to wifi direct first before selecting files. Noted thx

Works great with wifi direct. Solution found. Thx all.

Glad to help mate. It took us a while to work out how it works, but damn does it save time sending files via wifi direct than by bluetooth lol
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
True enough. 40 files total size over 400mb in less than 1 min and half.

I know this is probably a noob question but what would be the maximum range you can use to transfer files between two Note 2's through wifi direct?

Not sure about the exact number, but it's longer than bluetooth. I haven't had any disconnections so it definitely works within 15-20m

I just tried this using my Dell laptop and no issue. Running Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.
As previous poster problem, need to check what kind of Wireless adaptor you have if it is the same problem.

It should work flawlessly if you had done everything right. Hope you are able to connect the device to PC and is it showing Limited/No connectivity on PC? Check your internet connection works on phone while tethering is active.

@DMJoh, I think there is a solution for not accessing internet. Open Cmd and type ipconfig /release and then type ipconfig /renew and problem will be solved.
@xyp3r try it and see if it solve your problem...
