Thats a little too short question.
Please provide more info.

Ok to make a shorter question longer, is it possible to update apps thru an usb cable connected to a computer instead of using wi-fi or mobile network?

There is a way to use your computer's internet on your phone via USB, (Google for reverse tether) but it doesn't work for play store downloads unfortunately. But if you have the apk files on the computer you can install via adb...

Provided you have the new APK it is possible using Droid Explorer.
If what you want to do is not use WiFi or your 3G, you could use the PC Internet while connected thru USB, this last option is not available for all phones tho.

If you only need internet connection from computer then try connectify for sharing your PC's connection wirelessly.

Search android reverse tether... it very easy!

USB connection problems

Hello, I've been trying to get my phone to connect to my mac via USB but have had no luck. I've tried Kies, AFT but nothing has worked out. I'm just trying to transfer my music and bluetooth takes way to long. I've searched other threads but it seams like no one has come up with a solution to the problem, is there anyone who can point me in the right direction or have a simple fix? I'm running CM Nightly 10.1 20130222 and my Mac is running Lion 10.7.5. Any help will be appreciated, thank you.

Is that the factory cable included with the phone? Different (even rear) usb ports? Sorry for the small questions. Starting at the bottom

yes it is the factory cable, I have tried other cables as well. Tried both of my USB ports. Is there any other program other than AFT and Kies that I could use? Im using Wifi File Explorer Pro right now to transfer files but I would like the speed of USB if I could get it

Found an alternative to WiFi-Direct for Xperia S

As you all know there is no WiFi Direct option available in Xperia S, so I found an alternative to it which is an app called Super Beam which gives the same speed as WiFi Direct and is actually a lot simpler to use than WiFi Direct!
If WiFi Direct is not available, it uses the phone's hotspot to create a WiFi network to which the other device connects for receiving files.
But the best part is how simple and fast it is to use. I sent a file around 400mb in about 5 mins! Bluetooth is nowhere near to that!
There is also no need for pairing devices like WiFi Direct, the app does all this by itself using QR Codes.
Only disadvantage is that both phones need to have the app installed.
I really recommend this to all Xperia S users, since we do not have WiFi Direct option in our phones.
Play Store Link:

Also watch this video if you want to see how it works:

Yes all those apps are good too. And there are many more apps on the Play Store that give this functionality, but the reason I chose this one was because of its simplicity. You don't want to go through a whole lot of steps every time just to send a file, it should be quick and simple.
So easy... Thank's a lot for information.
Wow, this is a great Application! I searched for something like that. Thanks!

But it needs internet to transfer files ??? Because i tried to transfer using superbeam or fast file transfer, it tries to create a "wifi tethering" and since i don't have internet it fails to transfer files.
If am trying it wrongly, could somebody please help me to use it in right way?
Thanks.

U don't need Internet to transfer file. Update the superbeam -go to settings in app-sending setting -set preferred direct method to "hotshot "-keep hotshot name and hotshot password blank...... Set same Setting in other mobile also......

using wifi to share wifi

I am staying at a hotel where
1. My mobile data plan doesn't work (another country)
2. I paid 30 to have one device (my note II) get internet
3. I learned that I cannot run hotspot and wifi at the same time
How can I share my internet with other devices? Can thos even be done?
Thanks

I honestly don't know. I've never used it

Bluetooth tethering is a setting on the rom you are using. It cannot be enabled via app. Its been a while since I messed with my Bluetooth tethering but I can tell you it works very well. I don't have a link handy.
The main advantage is it is very low power. The connection is very seamless as well.

By rom, are you referring to a rooted phone? If so, I don't have a rooted phone. I guess I will consider this for my next trip.
Thanks
Q
If you get internet on your one device then your easiest option is to get internet on your laptop and then create a hotspot on your laptop.
If your laptop is running windows 7 then you can follow the instructions from here.

It's live USB... I don't have space for Wine... btw, I was trying playing with Wine in the past, but without luck... and I'm pretty sure that reverse tethering net will be slower with emulated profram
