Hello all,
A friend of mine has rooted his HTC Desire by using the Mildwild ROM. Sometimes his phone is crashing with this ROM, so he wants to unroot his phone. Because I am such an awesome friend I offered to do this (actually he asked me, but whatever ). Right now I am stuck in the process of restoring his stock ROM.
The Bootloader gives me this information:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
Bravo PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
Radio-4.05.00.11
Aug 10 2010, 17:52:18
So I need to restore the stock HBOOT. Therefore I download this file: http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip. I change the name to 'PB99IMG.zip' and copy-paste it to the root of the SD card. When I try to flash the HBOOT in fastboot, this is what I get:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I don't know what is going wrong here, but obviously I'm doing something wrong. I hope you guys can help me find out what I need to do else.
Download the downgrader from alpharev website as the HBOOT is write protected and flash it from fastboot. Then download the htc 2.3 RUU from HTC dev and in fastboot connect to the pc and flash it back to stock

The file I downloaded was the downgrader, wasn't it? Or didn't you mean the HBOOT downgrader? I used this one: http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip

Stop being a dumbass, not everyone is "expert" as you. If your phone does not boot, you just don't give a f*ck about the forum you're posting.

Oh, I'm sorry mister "developer" if I hurt your altruistic feelings. My phone also doesn't boot sometimes but I tend to read the stickies and know what was the last thing I did.
Now that I remember, no wonder you give your approval to this since you did that too on occasion. Lol.

Gentlemen, I would like you to help me with this problem. I am sorry if I have posted this thread in the wrong (sub)forum, but I don't think that should be a reason for someone to not help me with this. I do know my fair share about computers, but phones are kind of new for me. Especially when it comes to (un)rooting them. So all your help would be very appreciated.
Did you changed PB99IMG_downgrade.zip. to PB99IMG.zip ?
And after you flash the hboot you cand install a ruu
thanks

Yes I did do that. This afternoon, by using another SD Card, I managed to downgrade the HBOOT. But which ROM do I need right now? I tried using the OTA (I do not have the link right now), but that doesn't work.

Hello,
I've been searching the forums for two days now but can't find the answer. Could sombody please help me?
My problem is:
I have an s-off and rooted Desire. I rooted it after I had put on gingerbread. That was all working great. Until I decided to return to the standard HTC ROM again. I've now tried different RUU's even the last Gingerbread.
I think I've done something wrong because every time i get stuck when installing the ROM.
When I boot my Desire I get a black screen with HTC logo in each corner a triangle with exclamation point. I cannot boot into recovery anymore.
The error message I get is partition fail. and [6] system fail-pu.
With HBOOT is 6.93..., Alpharev CM7.
Who knows a solution to my problem. Please a detailed explanation. 'I m more of a noob than I thought.
Regards,
Ruvo

You have to flash stock hboot and AlphaRev downgrader before flashing the RUU. Can you go into fastboot mode? If you can't I think there's a good chance your phone might be bricked.

I found an interesting troubleshooting guide by Borak. I'll try it tonight.
I'll let you know if it works.
Thanks in advance.
Hi all, so I've been trying to update my hboot from 0.75.0000 to .93 but have been FAILING miserably. I'm currently on ICS, and have tried alpharev which didn't work. Trying to flash rom to RUU has also failed but I don't know why. Flashed my radio to match the one with the RUU and that didn't work, which i'm guessing is due to the inability to simply flash from ICS to 2.2 or 2.3?
So my question is, any other tips?
Try to flash the hboot downgrade from alpharev then the right RUU. If that works you can root and s-off your phone with unrevoked/revolutionary. If you want to change hboot to cmr7 or data ++ (example) you MUST be s-off......

Thanks for tip, I've actually done alpharev and it also failed. Reason being it needs a rom that doesn't already have a2sd, any suggestion as to which rom is suitable?
Thanks
Edit: I've actually online done the hboot reflash, and not the downgrade. Will give that a go first and see what happens.
I think that all the rooted roms have some sort of a2sd, that's why I think you have to start from the beginning. Start with an original ruu.bring it back to its original state wich came out of the box...my knowledge doesn't reach that far ;-) its the easyest way I think.

Can you post your complete bootloader. Turn of phone, hold down volume and press power. What info does the left upper corner give you ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON

MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101

MAR 5 2010,21:12:15
Still I think what's best is to go back all the way and install a ruu. Then go directly to revolutionary. It will root and s-off your phone and installs the custom hboot.
Maybe I have more time to help tonight, I am at work now :-(

That's what I'm thinking too, hence why I'm trying to flash an RUU onto the device. I however get this error when I do it

Hey there, firstly I would like to thank you for ALL your help and of course the effort you've put in it.
I've actually fixed it by firstly going to page ~16 of the android development forum for the desire, get an old rom, flash it in and then performed the alpharev. Lo and behold it worked because the rom is reasonably old and a2sd was "new" then. Flashed it back to ICS now and I am proud to announced that I S-OFF'ED!!! Partition done and OFF I GO.
That's great !!!! Have fun with your fixed desire )))

You can use a ruu.exe or a PB99IMG.zip but the zip should always be a last resort. Some people are often too lazy to get their usb cable from upstairs or in too much of a rush, they must do it on the train to work....

How it works is with a RUU you can only use the same version or newer. This is because you cannot flash an older hboot. The downgrader puts a very low hboot version on so all ruu hboots are seen as newer, even though they are not

i am unsure on the hboot although if you tell me the possible options i can probably remember. i think it is 0.93.0001
he is using clockworkmod recovery uh the latest version. 5.x
he has no sd card partitions other than the fat32 1.
the rom he was previously using was official GB > miui > oxygen > runnymede > failed to boot and now stuck in bootloop but cant flash back to stock.
can you even get it into fastboot? ive had this recently, i used fastboot flash and then all the required things. It was my radio that was causing the bootloop. so as soon as i flashed that it boooted fine.

Memories (even if they are right) does not help at all.
So tell your friend the following:
He should turn off his Desire, then press and hold volume down plus power button until a white screen with the androids at the bottom appears (he should see HBOOT in capital letters, blue highlighted). Now he should tell EVERYTHING what's written there and you post EXACTLY that here.
After this done, advise him to press the power button. Now he should see FASTBOOT in capital letters, red highlighted. If that's so, ask him turn off his Desire. If that's not so, let him tell you what happened instead and you post that here.
sorry late reply the hboot is the .93 one I said above.
