Hi all, so I've been trying to update my hboot from 0.75.0000 to .93 but have been FAILING miserably. I'm currently on ICS, and have tried alpharev which didn't work. Trying to flash rom to RUU has also failed but I don't know why. Flashed my radio to match the one with the RUU and that didn't work, which i'm guessing is due to the inability to simply flash from ICS to 2.2 or 2.3?
So my question is, any other tips?
Try to flash the hboot downgrade from alpharev then the right RUU. If that works you can root and s-off your phone with unrevoked/revolutionary. If you want to change hboot to cmr7 or data ++ (example) you MUST be s-off......

Thanks for tip, I've actually done alpharev and it also failed. Reason being it needs a rom that doesn't already have a2sd, any suggestion as to which rom is suitable?
Thanks
Edit: I've actually online done the hboot reflash, and not the downgrade. Will give that a go first and see what happens.
I think that all the rooted roms have some sort of a2sd, that's why I think you have to start from the beginning. Start with an original ruu.bring it back to its original state wich came out of the box...my knowledge doesn't reach that far ;-) its the easyest way I think.

Can you post your complete bootloader. Turn of phone, hold down volume and press power. What info does the left upper corner give you ?

MICROP-031D
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-4.05.00.11

Still I think what's best is to go back all the way and install a ruu. Then go directly to revolutionary. It will root and s-off your phone and installs the custom hboot.
Maybe I have more time to help tonight, I am at work now :-(

That's what I'm thinking too, hence why I'm trying to flash an RUU onto the device. I however get this error when I do it

Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again
I conclude that the downgrade did not work ?

It didn't and wouldn't cause my phone is still on S-On, I'm however dling some newer RUU so fingers crossed that helps.
Ah yes ofcourse. There is a stickie in the Q & A section here that has info and troubleshooting. Maybe point 3 and 4 can give you some more info !

Is it possible that your phone is branded by provider, in that case you have to create a goldcard first. I have no experience in this. Hopefully I am pointing you to the right direction.

Hey there, firstly I would like to thank you for ALL your help and of course the effort you've put in it.
I've actually fixed it by firstly going to page ~16 of the android development forum for the desire, get an old rom, flash it in and then performed the alpharev. Lo and behold it worked because the rom is reasonably old and a2sd was "new" then. Flashed it back to ICS now and I am proud to announced that I S-OFF'ED!!! Partition done and OFF I GO.
That's great !!!! Have fun with your fixed desire )))

@bjornzzz Any suggestion on which rom you flashed. I've arrived at this boot loader while going back to stock from alpharevx hboot / ics rom.
Flashing an Ruu before flashing the alpharev downgrade didn't help much. LOL

Ok, I'm new to htc's and don't hate on me for asking this but I've searched here and on Google and am not getting good enough results, I currently have a 2.2 stock ROM with root and clockwork to boot ( just got the phone and it was this way when I got it) I now have to send the phone in for repairs and I was thinking if it would be ok to just update to the 2.3 htc stock update?
Do the RUU's include everything boot, radio and ROM?
I come from the world of Samsung where we have small updates (that don't have boot) and large ones (wich include all 3 packages)
Also if this was posted in the wrong section, mod could you please move it to the appropriate place thank you
Cheers.
A RUU is indeed a complete package. It will return it completely to stock.

yes it will, the alpharev overwrite protection doesn't work on the 2.3 update and will update the bootloader also.

im not sure about this, as some users reported to remain still s-off after the 2.3 ruu (and this should be logic as the alpharev bootloader version is 6.93 (>1.02))
I did the update and everything went great, I also saw that the loader is now S-ON

S-ON means the bootloader is now locked.
I have been hearing from some of our members' post, that there has been a 2.3.5 update to this device.
I would like to know how to update, since mine still shows 'No updates found'.
I'm eager to get this update!
Guess its launched only in Europe. Not sure though. Hopefully it comes to rest of the region's fast

Mine was showing no updates too but this was no problem for me to update, check the general thread for the Stock ROM Collection
EDIT: and please, read and check the threads first... do not open threads just because you are lazy!
I am in Europe too,no update yet.
Just flashed the latest RUU from the stickied topics. I'm on 2.3.5 now, new lockscreen too. Strangely it shows Sense v2.1. :-(

Yes, it is Sense 2.1. Only lockscreen is added.
Now that's just stupid...
Fastboot oem still doesn't work. So, HTCDev method is a no-go for now.
But, we got an OTA update atleast.
I'm now pretty confident that we're gonna get our bootloaders unlocked soon enough.
I still hate them for updating it so late, but atleast they updated the phone.

No but i remember having to run through unrevoked again after flashing an RUU. Possibly to add root/SU app again as i think the RUU i used removed the super user ninja app. But Revolutionary stayed on the HBOOT screen. And unrevoked took like 2 mins to complete
make sure ur RUU is version 2.1 or lower in order to use unrevoked tho
No, at the end it will ask you if you want to root your phone as well, not a big deal
I had... because I installed a 2.2.1 froyo rom, and due to that, i was unable to reinstall newers rom versions. It kept the S-OFF, but kind off "broken". The problem was solved, using this tutorial! hope it will help U.

Hello all,
A friend of mine has rooted his HTC Desire by using the Mildwild ROM. Sometimes his phone is crashing with this ROM, so he wants to unroot his phone. Because I am such an awesome friend I offered to do this (actually he asked me, but whatever ). Right now I am stuck in the process of restoring his stock ROM.
The Bootloader gives me this information:
AlphaRev CM7 r2
Bravo PVT4 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-6.93.1002
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
Radio-4.05.00.11
Aug 10 2010, 17:52:18
So I need to restore the stock HBOOT. Therefore I download this file: http://alpharev.nl/PB99IMG_downgrade.zip. I change the name to 'PB99IMG.zip' and copy-paste it to the root of the SD card. When I try to flash the HBOOT in fastboot, this is what I get:
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
I don't know what is going wrong here, but obviously I'm doing something wrong. I hope you guys can help me find out what I need to do else.
Download the downgrader from alpharev website as the HBOOT is write protected and flash it from fastboot. Then download the htc 2.3 RUU from HTC dev and in fastboot connect to the pc and flash it back to stock

Gentlemen, I would like you to help me with this problem. I am sorry if I have posted this thread in the wrong (sub)forum, but I don't think that should be a reason for someone to not help me with this. Yes I did do that. This afternoon, by using another SD Card, I managed to downgrade the HBOOT. But which ROM do I need right now? I tried using the OTA (I do not have the link right now), but that doesn't work.
Hello,
my first phone is the HTC Desire Z... and i've never worked on any cellphone other than this one.
today, i was given an HTC Desire, that was giving su permissions, and it is S-ON (kinda weird)
now i don't know what is the process of perm rooting it and S-OFF it, but what i did to get to this situation was a backup restore of a sense 2 with android 2.2 froyo...
what i want to do is S-OFF it and have it run CM7... flashing roms is my thing, but what should i do to make it S-OFF?
thanks

Did you try Alpharev (flash a rooted stock Sense ROM first)?
alpharev.nl/
The main benefit of going S-Off is that you can flash a new Hboot with more space for apps on (fast) nand memory. Standard Desire has less than 150 mb available on nand for apps, if you flash CM7 r2 for example you will have almost 290mb for apps. Of course, you have to pick your ROMs carefully so they fit on the phone once you flash a custom Hboot.
If you stick with stock S-On you will need a high quality fast micro sd card (for moving apps on to).
