So i own a dezire z from vodafone romania mine was factory unlocked so i used the gfree metod for rooting first i downgraded cuz it was 2.3.3 and i was using androdamus build for like a month afetr that i used miui still no problem , and then i tryed lightsense rom and my phone didnt work anymore i mean it start it works bluetooth and wifi but my phone as 3g and signal and carrier is not its just searching and nothing if i search after it manualy it finds the network but it wont connect.
I had a backup of androdamus and i restored it still no luck what can i do to make it work again i really need it anything i just want it to be a working phon e again .
Oh and something that really pisses my of is that all roms now go as ITALIAN the default language and no service whatsoever so please HELP ME
Try updating radio, try changing/adding apn
Very strange that changing roms would effect your phone in these ways but if switching back to roms that worked still won't this would be my best bet. Also if you did a nandroid backupl restore that and see what happens
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
thankyou for the fast response im sure that its not from the apn since i manualy added it as my carrier advised me i tryed the same setting on my old HTC tytn 2 and they worked so its the phone that shoud be blamed
aa can u please recommnd me a good radio ....i really dont know from where to download it and whichi one is the good one shoud i search after the one that im currently using ?
Did you try a nandroid yet?
As for the radio there is a thread in the developers section with all the options, just search for it
I can't recomend one for they vary on what works. What is best where you live will be diffrent than for me. Trial and error
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
no i didnt tryed that , what do you mean by nandroid backup ?
If you have a custom recovery, clockwork or 4ext, there will be an option for a nandroid backup (some custom recoveries do bart backups) it is highly recomended to do a nandroid before flashing anything to your phone in case something goes wrong. Think of it as a restore point. If you flash a rom or change some setting and you cant/don't want to fix it, you just restore with nandoid backup and all is well
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I still cant use my sim i did full wipe after i rooted it again and im back to androdamus and still i cant make it work what can ido someone please help me

Title says it all.
I am new to the android world and the information you get from a google search is convoluted at best.
I have a desire that I rooted using UnRevoked3. I was however misled by all the research I did that I could make a backup of my system and data before the generic rom was flashed. I now have a rooted phone without any backup to revert back to.
My phone is Ntelos CDMA HTC Desire android 2.1
I do however have access to a non-rooted (same phone and network) phone if it is at all possible to recover the recovery and system partitions without rooting the phone my cousin will let me do so.
Can this be done? if so a detailed explanation of how to do it would be helpful.

If I understand correctly you want to "unroot" you phone. This is done by installing htc Sync and running the appropriate RUU from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667.
Thre is no reason, besides the fact that you want to return your phone for warranty purposes and/or that you want to have stock system, for you to revert to stock.
Copying and pasting backups seems like a very bad idea since there might be subtle differences between phones which thus might generate more problems than it solves.
I'm not saying that it's not possible, it's not recommended. There are a bunch of other safer alternatives.
Yes I want to revert to stock rom which I no longer have. I just wanted to experiment a little. I never would have done in the first place had I known there would be no going back.
There are no stock roms availibe for my phone. I need a RUU from Ntelos not verison or USCC.
No need to, you can't backup a unrooted rom. Since you are already rooted just make a nandroid of that rom to revert to. Only when things go really wrong you need to use the ruu.

No its just that nobody has sorted out how. I ran the US Cellular update on my phone and got a stock USSC non-root phone working on Ntelos network. I then ran root again to get my data back of course.
Their app runs on windows pc and doesn't require special access such as root. All the capability is there I'm sure. just under lock and key.

What do you mean by getting your data back ? All your data is lost (contacts, apps, messages, etc) when you flash a new ROM. The only things that stay intact are those which you have saved on your SD.
There are plenty of ways to backup stuff from unrooted devices. However non of them provide any useful safety backup regarding rooting or flashing.

If there are ways then that is what I am looking for. I have no memory of Unix/Linux command line. I'm sure I have a text laying around somewhere and could refresh my memory. However I elect to ask those in the know to guide me.
I simply want to get a stock system rom from the same make and model phone on the same network without voiding the warranty on that phone. My service provider had very little bloat ware and didn't remove apps that I found missing in the verizon/US Cell stock roms. My phone being root or not is not the question. For that I don't care accept if I ever need warranty work done. And that is just my luck sometimes so.. better safe than sorry.
ok so, i recently noticed that my signal is going out hardcore, and in places that i normally would have a signal. When I do get a signal its not a strong one. Is there anything that I can do to fix this? Ive tried flashing different roms to see if it was just the rom Im using, but it doesnt help. Ive always used Super CM7 and this just recently started happening, like in the last week. Please help me, with any ideas you may have. Id greatly appreciate it.
You could start flashing different radios and see which one works best for you.

Which radio would u recommend for Htcclay's SuperCM7 2.3?
Also I've never fashed a radio before. Once u flash by loading it on the root of your sdcard. Do u need computer access or adb to remove it before u can get back into clockword mod, like u do when u flash other things thru bootloader on the root of your sd. Can you help me with the steps please, id appreciatte it very much.

I cant recommend you a radio .you need to see which one is best for your
location and other factors, so you probably need to try a few and see which one
works the best for you. you will find everything you need in this thread

Hello,
My internet doesn't work. I already checked the APN-settings, resetted them and made them completely new. The WLAN is working perfect.
I checked that the data connection is used at the preferences. But I still get:
at HTTP Client-Test: "Fail: IOException"
GPRS-Service is not connected
"state: dcactivatingState is connecting to..."
But no changes...
Phone: HTC Wildfire/Buzz
ROM: CyanogenMod 7.1.0.1
Radio: 3.35.20.10
I'm not sure what to do now. Should I poste you some more information?

Oh, sorry. Just want to say Thank you. Maybe other People can use this thread later.

Thanks Ankurcul.
Hi
Hope someone can help!
I got my brother in law htc wildfire.
And got a code to open it up to any network.
We got the code from an internet site called GSMliberty, the code has worked to a degree.
It receives calls and can make them, the time is right, and the internet works over wi-fi of course.
But it will not connect to the internet on its own ie 3g.
The phone was locked to 3 and I have tried 2 different sim cards in, orange and t-mobile, both have unlimited data plans.
I have changed the apn setting to match each network/carrier and all I get is connection failed.
I have called and emailed the code people who say it is down to the data set up.
I have been in touch with t-mobile his the network/carrier he wants and they have talked us through it, as have htc help centre but to no avail.
However if we put a 3 sim back in, it connects to the internet, swap it back and change the internet setting to the network required and won't work.
Does anyone have any ideas or help?
It has not been rooted or messed with, just the unlock code.
Kindest regards
Shaun
I would suggest that you root it and S-off it. You will void your warranty is SOFTWARE level, so if any problem occur in the future you could just roll back everything. Anything you'll need can be found here
Hi what do you mean by. S- off after I root?
Sent from my GT-I9100P using XDA
First root the phone and if the problem remains then s-off. EVERYTHING is in the link that I gave you above. Almost all questions are answered there, and if any remains we will be glad to help. But is is VERY IMPORTANT TO DO EXACTLY WHAT THE GUIDE THAT YOU WILL FOLLOW TELLS!
Thank you for your reply, but going to leave it. Tried to root it via superone click, but could'nt do it.
And not sure where to get kernal to do via odin.
When I have tried to get them for galaxy s2, seem to struggle to download them, hence using superone click.
Although I'm not thick, reading what people say on here is difficult to understand.
But again thank for your help.
Kind regards.

I once tried to sell a phone locked on 3 network to a shop but the Guy in the shop told me he wouldn't buy it as he has trouble unlocking 3 phones, something about the 3 software they use doesn't like being unlocked and used on a different network, I didn't really look into it as I already had a new phone and just gave it to a mate.
I think what the poster above may be hinting at is debranding the phone, i.e getting rid of any 3 branded software and flashing a generic ruu which should theoretically work on any network as long as the sim is recognized.
We have plenty of guides here if you want pointing in the right direction. Odin will only work for Samsung phones I believe and I'm not too sure superone click works on a wildfire either.

Yes please, but need an idiots guide lol.
And thank you for your reply and help.
So what is s-off?
Sent from my GT-I9100P using XDA
No superone does'nt. Found out when google searching.
Sent from my GT-I9100P using XDA
S-off is disabling the secuflag which HTC used to lock the bootloader, disabling it allows you to write to the system while the phone is on or flash a new radio, basically unlocking the phone completely.
If you take a read of "the complete wildfire guide" by 3xeno the first 2 posts contain just about everything you would need to know if you want to root and s-off the phone, Im not 100% sure you need to though as I think you can use an ruu (in post number 2) which will basically restore your phone to a stock rom without any branding. Its just a case of plugging the phone into the computer and running the ruu follow the instructions and when the phone reboots it should have been restored to factory and had the radio, bootloader restored too ruling out any problems with them if it still doesn't work after.
Sorry I can't post a link to the index as the app keeps crashing on my phone when I try.
Edit: silly me its the link posted before, trust me everything you'll need is in those first 2 posts, if an ruu doesn't do the job post here again and we'll hopefully get you rooted and on a different rom.
Hi have managed to root, but now I have internet access hut when I try connect to the android market it disconnects again.
Tried to do the s-off but was getting lost at what to do with htc supertool v3.
It is rooted but loosing signal on market access, it says conbection fail.
Untick the internet connection and retick and it starts again to surf.
Any ideas, market works on wifi!

How did you root?
Are you on a stock rom or a custom one like Cm7?
Did you install clockworkmod recovery?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
all stock rom, rooted with unrevoked
Ok then, the quickest way I think would be to try a custom rom to fix your problem, first go to recovery, turn off and press volume down and power together to get to hboot then select recovery.
Once its loaded first backup your current rom, while its backing up download a rom Cm7 I recommend, it should have all the apns setup already, look in the development section for the download or on the cyanogenmod website, you want stable 7.2 rc1. After the backups done, go to mounts & storage and mount USB to transfer the Cm7.2 zip. Then go to advanced and select reboot recovery.
Once loaded again you need to wipe the device completely, so choose wipe cache, wipe data and from advanced menu wipe dalvik cache, now choose to install from zip and navigate to where the Cm7 zip is on your SD card and let it install then reboot. It should take around 5-10 minutes to reboot as its rebuilding the software on the phone during the first boot.
If the market isn't installed you need to download Google apps for gingerbread and then flash that zip in recovery. No need to wipe anything for that, after the reboot you'll be prompted to sign into a Google account, everything should hopefully work then.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
when I go to recovery, it doesn't give me the option to back up.
it says
reboot system now
wipe data/factory re
wipe cache partition
install zip sdc
nandroid
partitions menu
advanced
and at the top clockworkmod recovery v
Sorry I forgot to say I'm a pain in the ass

ps do you accept donations as I feel you deserve a beer!
I think the option you need is under nandroid.
I believe that's because you're on the old clockwork v2.xxx we're mostly on 5.0.2.0+ now. Its called a nandroid backup so I'm guessing choose nandroid and it should ask you to backup, restore or advanced restore. You want to backup.
Nah I don't accept donations everything I do is out of the kindness of my heart.

Alright guys i did my homework and i just want to know whether is it safe to perform it ..
1st i back up my data on my andriod via gmail (contacts) ,apps /data ....SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore. Each one backs up its respective data to your microSD card (in /sdcard/*appname*BackupRestore/) for easy restoration...before whipping out everything on my sd card and htc sense rom ...
Rooting the phone ......after that i'll flash a custom rom in it
backup all data from gmail/SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore.
that should be all
is it correct or there is any alternative ?
I need suggestion from the android users
Cheers
So... you don't need to backup your other apps?
what do u mean by other apps ?
what i thought was the apps i seen on my android device

After you have flashed a custom ROM, you have to reflash all apps you have used with your prevoius ROM, and then restore app data.
Or wasn't it you wanted to know?

Read that statement again... you save your backup files to the sd card then wipe the sd card. So where's your backup now? To tell you honestly, you are doing it wrong.
Tell us what exactly are you going to do and in what state is your phone right now? Is it rooted, s-off, etc.
but why is reflash all apps with previous rom and restore app data ?
i don't quite get it
and im quite confused with the flashing rom and reflashing all apps with previous rom and restore app data ...
okay i'll take your advice
but this statement
"backup all data from gmail/SMS Backup and Restore, Call Logs Backup & Restore, and APN Backup & Restore."
doesn't it say im going to backup data from the previous data i had ?
okay im going to root my phone next month so im going to backup my data from my sd card and reformat it ..after doing that im going to root my phone 1st ...its not rooted ..is it a wise decision ?
status of phone ...
Andriod version (2.3.3)

Try to flash a version of InsertCoin LOWER than 10.
The one ur trying to flash is a JellyBean rom and there is a specific process u have to follow in order to work.
For now i suggest u stick with ICS roms
